okay, no one asked, but before i start rewatching the actual season two, my pitch for the ideal season two (pt. 1 of 2 because this got long) -

2.01 “…had dating prospects”

- keep most everything up to the making of the pros and cons list, save for the mohan voicemail

- we follow that up with a scene in dr. ryan’s office, where dr. ryan is like “devi, i wasn’t expecting to see you back, but i’m hoping the fact that you are means you’ve talked with your mom.” “yeah,” devi says. “she insisted i bring you this.” [sets new tiny vase on the table] [dr. ryan’s chuffed] “while i appreciate that, i do hope that’s not all you discussed.”

- and then devi tries to brush off the india move and the fact that they released mohan’s ashes in favor of asking dr. ryan who she thinks devi should date. to which dr. ryan is reasonably like “devi, you can date whoever you want, but please just don’t ignore your emotions about a big potential change in your life.” and devi gets all defensive and says “i’m obviously better now, i don’t have to worry about that.” [ominous music cue]

- then we get parallel scenes where, obviously more affected by dr. ryan’s words than she wants to be, devi brings up the fact that she’s moving soon and can’t have anything too serious with both ben and paxton. ben can keep his wonderfully obnoxious line about having access to a pj, and paxton would shrug and be like “we can just hang out, that’s cool.”

- kamala and devi see nalini off to the airport, and devi’s talking up how cool it’s going to be that they have the house to themselves and “let’s turn on the air conditioning tonight!!”

- at home, with the air conditioning running, kamala has her skype call with prashant (the bones of her storyline would stay the same, no notes)

- we end with devi having a nightmare about being on a plane with her mom only for her mom to have a heart attack while sitting right next to her. she wakes, sweaty and gasping, and we would pan out to see the unused grief journal sitting on her desk.

2.02 “…been an insomniac”

- next morning, devi attempts to broach the subject with kamala, but in a talking-around-it kind of way like “so. you flew here from india kinda recently. the flight was, like, super safe, right?” but kamala’s too preoccupied with lab stuff to really engage

- still needing comfort, devi runs into ben at their lockers before class and brings up that she didn’t sleep very well the night before. “spoiled by the accommodations at my place, huh?” he’d ask, and they’d have a cute little round of banter that ends with them holding hands on the way off to class and some mcenroe narration that’s like “dr. ryan was totally wrong. devi wasn’t ignoring her emotional needs at all.” [catch me looking into the camera like i’m on the office]

- we see nalini arrive in india, and it more-or-less goes the same way as in canon, no notes

- hallway/atrium scene where we establish fabiola’s conflict over identity for the season with eve. maybe they’re having a cute, happy conversation until they sit down at the couches with eve’s friends and fabiola gets visibly less comfortable in her own skin as she tries to head off to her robotics meeting and eve’s friends mock it

- devi’s heading home for the day and is intercepted by paxton, who offers her a ride that she obviously accepts. he asks her how long she has before the move, and they get to talking about what it’s like to not feel connected at all to a place that’s supposedly so important to your identity, which makes devi a little morose until paxton says, “at least no matter what, we’ll always belong here in sunny socal.” and she’s like “wait, you think i belong here?” and paxton shrugs and is like “no one does YOLO better than you, devi.” which is, like, the most romantic thing devi’s ever heard.

- smash cut to nalini feeling very much disconnected in india, but then, of course, finding comfort in nirmala

- we get a scene where prashant contacts kamala, who’s stuck working late in the lab and that storyline rolls on

- meanwhile, devi has another nightmare and wakes up distressed once again. we see her pace her room until her eyes fall on the pros and cons board. happy for the distraction, she snatches up her notecards and marker and adds a pro each to the board: KNOWS HOW TO MAKE ME LAUGH for ben and MAKES ME FEEL LIKE I BELONG for paxton

- next morning, nalini brings home nirmala and the news that they’re not moving

2.03 “…been to a crush-crashed sleepover”

- deciding they need to celebrate that devi’s not leaving, fab and el pitch a classic gang slumber party. devi’s hesitant at first because what if she wakes them up when she has another nightmare and everyone starts treating her like a bomb about to go off again? then again, maybe being surrounded by her girls will keep her calm and distracted and she’ll sleep like a rock

- scene with fabiola and eve, where fab brings up the sleepover and eve is like ‘oooh, what if i crashed?’ and fabiola starts to panic about the possibility of her mom and eve interacting

- back at the vishwakumar house, nimala has unearthed mohan’s tennis bet ledger, fondly referred to by him as the Vishwakumar Serve. “oh, my god, where did you find that?” devi asks, coming to sit by nirmala on the couch and reaching out to gingerly trace her dad’s handwriting on an entry where he bet her a mall day with fab and el that she couldn’t best him in a game. “it wasn’t hard, kanna, there are several labeled boxes in the garage full of his stuff.” the news is clearly a shock to devi, but even as she casts a look over at the door to the garage, she doesn’t move for it

- at fabiola’s house, we get a scene where fab tells her mom about the sleepover, and trying to be a hashtag Supportive Mother, elise starts asking all these questions about where they’re sleeping and it’s totally fine if fab has the girls over but maybe leave the bedroom door open at all times and fab is like “oh, my god, mom, i’m not dating devi or eleanor they both have boyfriends” and then, thinking of devi’s situation, adds “kind of.” to which elise nods sagely and is like “i know about they/thems” and fabiola perishes from embarrassment.

- it’s once again therapy time! devi brings up that she can’t sleep and dr. ryan should probably prescribe her some ativan or xanex to help out with that. and dr. ryan’s of course like, “devi, i’m not writing you a prescription. let’s talk about the reason you’re having trouble sleeping, instead.” to which devi’s like “i dunno. guess it probably has something to do with the nightmares.” and dr. ryan brings up maybe writing them down in her grief journal, like asking her dad for the comfort he always used to provide, but devi’s like “nah, doc, we’re past that, remember?” [dr. ryan frown of disapproval]

- as devi’s leaving the session, she checks her phone to see two texts: one from paxton asking if she wants to come hang at the garage for video game night and one from ben asking if she wants to compare notes on the gatsby reading for english. she definitely considers taking one of them up on it for a beat, but then texts them both back that she already has plans to sleepover fabiola’s (you know what that is? growth.)

- at said sleepover, the girlies are in fabiola’s room. fab’s painting devi’s nails sherman oaks high colors while she runs lines with eleanor. they’ve hung up a banner in the corner that says ‘happy homecoming’ but the coming has been crossed out to instead read homestaying.

- while this adorable tableau is unfolding, we hear a tapping at the window. a wild paxton appears! with an eve clinging to his back because he just gave her the world’s most perilous piggyback ride up the tree outside fab’s bedroom window. “what happened to video game night?” devi wants to know, throwing open the window. and paxton shrugs “trent and marcus went on a food run, and I didn’t really feel like helping them pick what trent’s gonna shove whole into his mouth. so here i am.” hashtag romance, cue the swooning.

- across the room, fabiola’s not giving eve nearly as warm a welcome. she’s all “i told you not to come!!” and eve’s like “i just scaled a building on paxton hall-yoshida’s shoulders can we please appreciate how iconic that is?” and fabiola, though still fretting, is forced to concede this point. if she had an instagram, she’d totally post about this

- eleanor, now a fifth wheel but spirits not easily dampened, suggests they sneak some alcohol from fab’s parents’ stash and play some spicy truth or dare. she volunteers herself to get the alcohol because even considering it makes fabiola guilt-spiral. eve helps! we get a cute scene of them evading elise and eve being like “haven’t i seen that woman before? isn’t she at, like, a million school events?” to which eleanor would be like “yeah, she’s a pta queen”

- while they’re gone, paxton points to the sign and is like. “so what’s that about?” and devi’s like “oh yeah, i’m not moving. surprise!” and paxton blinks and then gets this soft as heck smile going. “cool.”

- [imagine the kids being cute and silly and a little cringe while playing truth or dare here]

- anyway, the boys eventually start blowing up paxton’s phone so he leaves the slumber party with a kiss and a “glad you’re staying” and shortly after, fabiola’s like “okay, eve, your turn to go before my mom sees you here”

- which is of course the exact moment elise comes in with snacks and is like “who’s this?” and eleanor and devi giggle in the corner while fabiola suffers through the embarrassment of getting scolded in front of her girlfriend and THEN having to endure the pain of elise getting too enthusiastic about finally meeting eve

- throw in a scene where the girlies chat sleepily in the dark and devi fighting falling asleep because she doesn’t want to have a nightmare (spoiler alert: she does not succeed, either in resisting sleep or sleeping nightmare free)

- we end the episode with devi paying ben a visit, because if paxton knows she’s staying now, it’s only fair to let ben know, too. he wraps her up in this huge hug and is like “oh, thank god. flying actually makes me really uncomfortable.” and devi shakes her head and is like “wealth is wasted on you.” to which he shoots back, “give it a week as my official girlfriend, and i promise you won’t be complaining about how i utilize my wealth” *winky face* and she laughs, but then it dawns on her ... oh, my god, devi has two boyfriends!

2.04 “…been under scrutiny”

- we open with the girlies debriefing in devi’s room. she ping-pongs from excitement to anxiety over the fact that she’s dating two people, and fab and el are like “obviously you can’t actually do that, you have to choose. let’s consult the board again!” but no matter how hard they look for a solution, devi remains steadfastly torn. she decides it’s not actually wrong of her to date them both for a week, so long as she picks one after that. [fab and el facepalm in unison]

- cue montage! it probably looks similar to the canon montage from 2.02, but with flashes of devi returning to her list to add new notecards with pros/cons

- the day before devi’s week is up, nirmala brings home none other than aneesa and noor, who she got chatting to at the home depot. they’re new in town and wouldn’t you know it? aneesa’s starting at devi’s school maybe devi can show her around! wouldn’t that be lovely? finally, some desi friends! [live devi reaction: 🤨]

- at the same time devi’s meeting aneesa, nalini’s having a run-in with dr. jackson (you’re on thin freaking ice mr. common sir, but i do like what this storyline does for exploring nalini’s grief so.) probably he makes an obnoxious comment about her very expensive and desirable roster, which she pretends to ignore but he can tell he’s gotten a rise out of her anyway and they have this moment of intense eye contact that leaves nalini a little shook

- what the heck, we’ll make the title apply to all three of our leading ladies and make this hypothetical episode also contain a continuation of the kamala storyline where we officially meet her lab partners, who are lazy and lording the possibility of meeting dr. peters over kamala’s head to get her to do all the work

- back at the vishwakumar house, devi and aneesa are in devi’s room, having an uncomfortably polite get-to-know-you conversation. devi learns that aneesa is sporty and is like “hmm, can’t relate” and aneesa learns that devi loves riverdale and is like “ah, i like my television to actually make sense :/” and all the while, the cork board looms in the background

- devi meets up with aneesa the next morning and they head inside with some uneasy small talk. on the way to the guidance office to get aneesa’s schedule and locker assignment, they pass trent, who’s like “yo, devi, this another hot cousin of yours?” which of course makes devi grumpy. aneesa smiles and giggles.

- they find out that english is the only class they have together, so devi promises to meet her there later, flashing aneesa and thumbs up and saying “good luck” before straight-up ditching her

- kamala has her big discovery while the other guys are planning their next karaoke night. main lab nerd man dismisses the work.

- back at the school, it’s english class time! mr. kulkarni my beloved!! him and aneesa bond over soccer while devi watches jealously

- in a ooh, foreshadowing move, the class is discussing why it’s so important to gatsby that daisy disavow her attachment to tom and ben is super on gatsby’s side but devi passionately argues that not even the narrative endorses this

- they have an intense after-class moment, which aneesa witnesses, and she’s like “oh my god! you didn’t tell me you had a boyfriend that’s really cool!” and ben looks all dopey and hearteyes when he says, no small trace of irony, “oh, yeah, that’s devi. the coolest.” and we get a “shut up, ben!” because this is my dream season and you can’t stop me

- at work, we see nalini leaving for the day, and she’s listening to the eight separate voicemails nirmala has left her over the course of the workday and mr. common sneaks up out of nowhere to say “dr. vishwakumar in a smiling mood? it’s a good look for you.” flustered nalini? also a very good look

- in the school parking lot, aneesa catches up with our girl gang, and fabiola and eleanor are asking polite questions about aneesa’s first day while devi’s noticing everyone else notice and whisper about aneesa. and then paxton comes by and is like “i heard a rumor you’re an evil twin?” and as devi’s getting all worked up, paxton steals a kiss and is like “don’t sweat it, vishwakumar. evil twins are always hotter than the good ones.”

- and aneesa, sweet and innocent aneesa, blurts “wait, i thought you were dating that ben kid” at the exact moment shira and zoe are passing their little group

- we end the episode on devi’s expression of dawning comprehension that she’s screwed

2.05 “…been the new kid”

- whaaat? aneesa-centric episode? yes, i think so. narrated by megan fox because that feels right for some reason.

- we kick off before aneesa’s first day at sherman oaks, getting the classic mirror-shot narrator introduction/monologue

- as the day unfolds, we see aneesa getting uncomfortable with how interested everyone is in her arrival. unlike the cool and collected person we see from devi’s POV, we get the sense that aneesa’s actually really shy. this manifests in her agreeing with/saying some contradictory things to various cliques just to blend in. (whaaat? aneesa has an unstable sense of self and her and devi might find common ground about it later? yes, i think so.)

- we also see how devi looks interacting with both ben and paxton from an outside perspective, and that distance makes it hard to see all the anxiety and grief and genuine affection that goes into her choice to date them both. it seems like she’s enthusiastically leading two people on.

- back at aneesa’s house, we get a scene between aneesa and noor, where we learn that aneesa’s transferred because of bullying re: eating disorder. the mother-daughter relationship is full of tension and love. (whaaat? aneesa having a complicated relationship with her mother like devi, something else they might find common ground about later? yes, i think so.)

- noor shuttles aneesa off to therapy, where she talks about how she might have already messed up her fresh chance and her therapist is like “instead of punishing yourself for this, i urge you to tell this devi how you’re feeling.” which is advice aneesa totally ignores (whaaat? …i’m not gonna do the bit again you guys get it)

- we end the episode with aneesa sitting awake in her bed, logging her food for the day in a journal and stressing about what the next day will bring

SIDE D, ROUND 1, MATCH 13

idk if i'm just hearing things but it almost sounds like a parallel to runaway boy A to me which is interesting bc runaway boy A was about azami running away from home and joining the troupe to get revenge on sakyo and him and sakyo fighting, while 'animal gang' is about the whole autumn troupe rallying to fight FOR azami with sakyo leading the charge. so that's really cute we love father-son moments. the production is really badass, something you'd expect from the autumn troupe. everyone's individual performances is good, but special shoutout to taichi going "EEEEEK" bc he's the only non-combatant member of the troupe but he still does his best to help in his own way, sakyo going absolutely bonkers on azami's kidnappers, and banri's solo bit GOD i'm so biased but i love how coarse and sexy his voice is (2:50) and i love that he embraces his bunnysona and goes "pyon pyon (threat)" at the kidnappers akjnjsaknda

Kazoku tte Nan darou?

its just. a really beautiful song. it's the perfect song after the airport scene. harugumi family is something so important. also after the beautiful part chikage starts mentally torturing hisoka by trying to make him remember and like that was cool i guess

i think i just found a jancy/byler parallel? maybe? idk, but i haven’t seen anyone else point this out, so. it’s not really that big but oh well

in the airport scene argyle tells mike that he’s “heard a lot about his sister” which makes things even more awkward, especially with mike and jonathan. the line is there to imply that jonathan talks to argyle about nancy a LOT.

then, in episode 8, dustin has that line that says “joyce has this new telemarketer job. she's always on the phone, mike won't stop whining about it.” and as we know, phone calls are for will (as implied during the roller rink argument) AND the government previously thought el was dead but immediately started looking for her once they figured out she wasn’t, that plus the calls in hawkins being monitored likely means that those calls that mike was whining about were for will. so, mike was most likely whining about not being able to talk to will.

this parallel doesn’t really mean anything tbh, i just thought it was sweet and interesting !! something about jonathan and mike always talking about nancy and will is quite cute to me :D

Hmm, this is interesting. I'm not sure if I'd say it's a parallel yet, because we can only really make deductions about it, but it is interesting.

I find this to be a more direct parallel to the scene where Mike meets Angela though and says he heard a lot about her, I think it's supposed to show that he makes it awkward and embarrassing for El bc they're not really friends, even though Mike doesn't know that.

So what do you think Gina’s Halloween costume is? Ricky seems to be a lifeguard but I can’t really tell for Gina.. Also how are you feeling about this being the last season? I’m devastated but also I’m glad they knew and could do the characters justice and it wasn’t like a sudden cancellation where we don’t get a conclusion. And Rina seems happier than ever, my babies! Would love to hear any and all of your thoughts after the teaser (and sorry about a word vomit ask, I’m obviously feeling a lot of things!)

So I’ve already made a couple of posts regarding my theories around Kourtney and Rina. But I definitely have lots of other thoughts around the trailer I’d be happy to share!

-credit to @blues-valentine for coming up with a theory about how Mack and Dani are basically going to be the Rocketman and Tiara of the show. (Go to my Kourtney hyperlink and there is a hyperlink of their post within that for more info)

-I think we are going to get Zac Vanessa and Ashley as guest stars but probably only for the first or last episode. It will probably be some short little cameo of them either watching HSM4 from home or denying the offer to return to the movie or maybe they show up to the scene where we see Corbin Monique and Kaycee dancing.

-in this scene, I talked about Ricky’s reaction in the hyperlinks above, but some of the reactions are interesting. I think Kourt and Carlos are excited for the fame, but Emmy seems upset and Miss Jenn kind of does too. I wonder if Miss Jenn feels either stepped on because she just planned this massive HSM3 show or if she is shocked/excited because she gets another chance to be in the movies?

-I found this scene really interesting? I wonder if Ashlyn has a solo here. This dance move is typically done in more stylized, story telling dancing. Maybe this song is about her coming to terms with her sexuality?

-some people on Twitter pointed out that jet and Maddox are carrying luggage and Maddox has a badge? I wonder if Maddox got an offer to help work on the film and that’s why they show up to attend East high? (After her work on frozen). Maybe they were so excited they came right from the airport to see their friends?

-Adrian also said they have sibling bants that are funny. I think we’re going to see the ramifications of them making up and being more of an unstoppable sibling duo (it’s giving Sharpay and Ryan). They’ll just be happy and play off of each other and I. Can’t. Wait. 🥹 (it would be really cute to see them tease each other about Ashlyn and Kourtney)

-This scene looks like Gina is doing press? This is why in my speculation from the rina hyperlink above I also think Gina is going to be under the spotlight about her “cheating” on Ej. I think more people were invested in rina’s relationship than rina realized, so now Gina is VERY famous and VERY well known, having to do press frequently because of rumors and popularity from the show. (I think she will also get bigger because she is cast as the lead in HSM4, causing jealous Kourtney and that’s where their beef comes in… more in the Kourtney hyperlink above)

-this is an episode one flashback. Because Kourtney’s plot was so central to Nini’s back then, I have a feeling it probably has something to do with them. Maybe she finds out about EJ cheating to get Nini in the show (it looks like Ashlyn as the other character so she could be talking about EJ… especially since that was mostly Ashlyn’s arc s1 too) OR maybe Kourt finds something out about Ricky. Kourt was understandably mad at Ricky for hurting Nini, but she seemed to have a pretty big grudge for him s1. Maybe there is more we don’t know?

-Carlos going from making Gina his co-choreographer to watching her dance and giving “no notes” (a parallel to Gina’s s2 line) is just cute and shows so much growth for their friendship 🥹

(This isn’t in the trailer but I would LOVE to see Carlos pay Ricky back for helping him write a song for Seb, by helping Ricky write a song for Gina… especially where Carlos is close with both of them ❤️)

-I wrote a post about this as well, but in short, I think Ricky is going to go to EJ when he feels so sad about letting go of high school. He wants advice from someone who left, but EJ is falling apart too when he goes for advice. EJ makes it worse at first because Ricky is like “is this what I’m going to turn into??” But EJ will say something that gets Ricky thinking about what he REALLY wants. What his heart tells him. I think this turns into a scream duet between EJ and Ricky (also the Halloween episode… everyone is dressed up in JWBWY attire but as monsters to signify the stress of the play, leaving high school, etc as “scary” or “frightening” to ricky… makes him want to scream!… of course all of this is in his head like it was in troy’s). It’s raining at EJ’s apartment (or mom and dad’s basement idk) so once the song is over ricky drives immediately over to Gina’s house and kissed her in the rain, reassuring her that if he doesn’t know of anything else, he knows he wants her. Maybe they disagree about this earlier in the episode?

-as far as Surfer Ricky™️, I’m confused if this scene is an IRL blooper or one in the show? Like maybe they told ricky they were filming but he was nervous being on camera so he messed up?

-I think it would be interesting if part of the plot was ricky and Gina not being able to clearly get across what couples costume they were going to do. Maybe they both say something and confuse what the other means, showing up in different costumes? If my theory is right, this would be the same episode as scream above^, so maybe rina are on different pages all episode making Gina feel like ricky is unsure of them (bc he’s unsure of after high school), so that’s why the rain kiss happens?

-I still am holding out hope they have a scene where they go back to the party in a matching costume later lol but honestly these last two theories feel like a reach

-lastly I am just mad and sad and confused it’s the end. Tim was so sure and made us believe we were getting more seasons. We have Bart’s cryptic messages. And to release it all in one go? It feels like we’re getting kicked to the side. The only thing I could think of is maybe the episodes are so tightly streamlined they almost act like a movie, where it doesn’t make sense to break them up? I’m confused by it all.

THOUGHTS ON THE SONIC MOVIE

AIGHT had these notes for a bit about the movie cuz it’s a cinematic master piece and gave me everything we wanted

Where do I even start, bro I love how they just embrace the fact sonics a silly little kid who kinda revels in the fact he’s got a family to be silly with now

That bit where he’s pretending to be airport security didn’t have to be so fucking cute but now it lives rent free in my head

NOT EVEN 10 MINS IN I THINK AND THIS BOY WENT HOLY CRAP FJDHDJDJFFJA

Thark pointed out how smart it was for sonic to be calling peeps via FaceTime since he’s got a big ass head and his ears are on top of them (I’m so glad they don’t do the phone to the side of the head even when the characters ears aren’t there, just a lil thing I don’t like)

I bet that bit where sonic was like “your meant to be my friend, stop trying to be my dad” Tom has to repress every fatherly urge to not cry at hearing that

They just embrace the fact sonic is a Wachowski y’all we fucking WON

The way lost it when Maddie was like “lets go get our kid”

Super sonic was fucking amazing, I got really worried when Knuckles said he isn’t the sonic they knew anymore then sonic basically went SIKE and did a Thor to manifest a chilidog. I can’t believe they straight up made super fucking GOD, like movie sonic is ACTUALLY the strongest version of sonic there is.

The way I might make a fleetway au again with the super thing going the way knuckles said

SPEAKING OF FUCKING KNUCKLES, favourite incarnation of knuckles so far, they did him SERVICE, Idris did amazing and I love this boy

He’s not dumb mans was just raised as a damn warrior his entire life so I fucking love it when he doesn’t get earth culture

Young knuckles also almost made me a feral animal

The way him and sonic survive a collapsing structure and sonic just starts pelting him with sand balls for no reason

The running gag of his grip breaking fingers was hilarious

I love the way he goes 🤨 when Eggmans being blatantly obvious with his lack of loyalty

They way he picked up tails at the end to carry him I’m biting my arms

TAILS MY SWEET BABY ANGEL, they gave him lethal weapons that HE MADE and address he’s doing crazy shit

God I wish during the scene when he gave his backstory we got to see him as a young kit in his village

THE WAY THEY PARALLEL TOM TUCKING IN SONIC WITH SONIC DOING IT TO TAILS THEN TAILS COVERING HIM WITH HIS TAILS MAN THEY ARE FUCKING BROTHERS

The way they let Rachel go off this movie and honestly good for her

I honestly wasn’t expecting the Wedding being a set up bit actually that was pretty cool

I really wonder what they’re gonna do with shadows character, it’s clear he’s gonna have some of the same backstory since he’s been in stasis for 50 years, I just hope they don’t make his personality close to knuckles cuz he’s defo gonna be an antagonist for the third movie

A Love Story in 3 parts.

Disclaimer : Everything is fake. Or is it? 👀

Why the month of June is always very interesting. basically an excuse to try making a timeline of 1 month spanning three years before I attempt to do the 2017-2020 timeline. the keyword there is ATTEMPT.

﹌﹌Part I:  June 2018 ﹌﹌

This is a popular guess on the month that they actually got together— as far as acknowledging that they’re NOT bros. Keep in mind that these two supposedly first met on 3/14/2017 with no interactions or even eye contact ( as per Web). After that, they meet again 4/2018 as CQL started shooting. 

That’s two months of interaction. We have different timelines in our head with them, so you can interpret this as A.) they hit it off really quickly that’s why it only took a little time for their feelings to go THERE. B.) they are lying liars who lie and have been in contact from 2017-2018.

• 6.2.2018 - Shooting of LWJ and WWX in the rain.  • 6.3.2018 - Produce 101 Performance! Yes, the same one where GG was a mentor and they acted like they didn’t know each other. Famous for moments such as:

Glancing at each other even if separated by people. +  Sharing an earpiece. GG smiling while watching Web Dance.

• 6.3.2018 - TTXS episode airing where Web gives love clues, where he says it depends on how he feels. Also that when he’s 40, he wants a kid and a dog. 

• 6.9.2018 - GG’s interview with him showing how much of a Libra he is. 

• 6.10.2018 - TTXS episode airing where Cheng Xiao is a guest and she proceeds to be Web’s good bro by exposing him ; saying he’s a Monk. 

• 6.11.2018 - Interview with Popular highlight, Web mentions GG for the first time while looking THIS good. The Audacity. Honestly. 🤦🏻‍♀‍

He talked about how long GG’s lines are compared to him, especially when they highlight it on their script books. 

• 6.14.2018 - Shooting of Cold Pond Cave scene ; Then clinging to each other amidst the cold water. If you watched the new BTS from fansites, there is a 🔞scene here. Pertaining to the M*gnum W*ng. 

• 6.16.2018 - Shooting guns at each other and dancing to Black Pink’s Ddu Ddu.

• { VERY IMPORTANT DATE} 6.18.2018 is when they shot this scene. GG is looking all wet, with mud on his face but Web just says he still looks handsome with no make up on. Also, CAN WE TAKE A SECOND AND WEEP at how GG looks at Web here. His eyes. Wow. He clearly adores Web at this point.

• They also shot WWX handing Zongzi to LWJ.

• Later that day, they ate together. They were photographed by paps who thought Web was going out with a girl. The produced and director of CQL was also there.

• GG then posted this on Weibo on 20:18 “love you yibo” as a greeting for the Festival. Web took the picture, according to me. I’m the curtain.

• 6.19.2018 - The next day, Web is photographed at the airport with the same clothes. This is also the first appearance of his white Nike Bag. He had to go and film an episode of Happy Camp.

• 6.22.2018 - a supposedly important day too as they cued 622 a couple of times. This is a good read on that.

•  6.1.2019 - GG interview with cosmo where he sings Kepler.  • 6.2.2019 - Web attending Yuehua family concert • 6.15.2019 - Web in extreme youth press conference wearing a questionable spongebob shirt.

• {VERY IMPORTANT DATE} 6.19.2019 - First appearance of Web’s ox head necklace via a picture of him in an airport, at Chongqing. 

• 6.19.2019 - GG posts an ad for Qeelin on his instagram account. ( which is now non existent since it was hacked incase you didn’t know). Qeelin Bo is significant to BJYX, you can check it on my jewelry post. 

• 6.21-6.22 2019 - Web posted himself practicing skateboard. 

• 6.25.2019 - They both posted on their Weibo about their joint Bazaar Magazine cover. This was re-released and became bazaar’s #1 e-magazine issue.

• 6.27.2019 - They both post about the premiere of CQL! 💚❤️

• 6.28.2019 - Web posts himself as LWJ, saying rabbits are cute. 

• 6.30.2019 - Web attends Yuehua annual party as Spiderman (into the spider verse).

• 6.5.20 - GG posts after a long time of silence with a picture of blue sky. Captioning it with : “Blue skies and white clouds, what do you see?” more on the significance of blue sky and white clouds with BYX here.  • 6.9.20 - XZ studio posts a video about GG’s daily life, giving us a glimpse of what he was doing. • 6.12.20 - We finally get a selfie from GG! He mentions on his caption that his hair is getting long. There is a CPN on this that the shirt he is wearing is a couple shirt from trasher which matches Web’s. Also, as people match the scenery posts on this, it matches with Web’s filming locations. 

• 6.13.20 - GG Douyin update, making orange juice like a pro. CPN on this is that the place he is filming at is pretty similar to Web’s house. But let’s not go there. 

• 6.18.20 - Another artwork post from GG. 

• 6.20.20 - Himalaya releases a CF for their new endorser, Wang Yibis. THIS CF ANS EVERYTHING ABOUT IT KILLED US. Starting with Web’s post,  “Some words, even if I don’t say it, u guys will know. This is our tacit understanding. Love is like this. Accompanying everyday.”

• 6.21.20 - Web video doing an Ollie (skateboard trick). People were speculating where he actually is on this one. most probably just him enjoying his down time and probably Lele taking that video.  • 6.25.20 - GG posts an artwork of zongzi along with an actual one for dragon boat festival. People have analyzed the little drawings and noted one looks like him & the other as Web. 

• AND FINALLY, this year’s Dragon Boat Festival gave way to the crazy fake rumor of them getting “engaged” + buying a house and car. When this came out, it was such a sweet fanfic— but with how the fake rumors becoming true lately— this is now very scary 👀.

CPN is that they spent this year’s Dragon boat festival together because of this clue. (Let me copy my own post) -->> 

This started with GG’s post and the background being compared to one of Web’s cast-mate, Wang Hao Xuan.

What gets me is the caption saying, “stuff that happens at work is a secret”. / “someone became super talkative while eating zongzi” What? Why? Who do we know is quiet but becomes really talkative when with his GG? WANG YIBIS.

Post-shoot, The director attended SDOC 3 finals too! To support Web. Plus Web’s message for the wrap was sweet. I felt like they really took care of him and will not say anything that will bring him down.

The sound of “all the way to state, all the way to state, all the way to state!” in the background as the camera focuses on Tami and Eric, watching over everything with sighs on their faces. They carry so much for this town and this team.

a/n : it has been a long time since i've written such a long imagine. i hope you guys love it!

you wrapped your finger around your mug of hot chocolate and had a sip as your boyfriend!Xiaojun stared at you lovingly. you placed your mug down and looked at Xiaojun with a nervous look. Xiaojun grabbed your hands and squeezed them gently.

"do you think i will make it?". you asked your boyfriend anxiously.

the both of you just graduated from college. Xiaojun already had a stable job at a big tech company, while you, who graduated with a performing arts degree , were auditioning here and there for dramas and shows to land on your first tv debut. you auditioned for romance, action and even horror! you didn't really care about the genre,you just wanted to experience the real deal and improvise yourself till you become a well-groomed actress.

Xiaojun rubbed your hand with his thumb and nodded his head. "i believe an actress as talented as you could make it! if they don't cast you though, it's alright. it's not you, they are the ones who are at lost.". Xiaojun comforted. you scrunched your nose up at his cheesiness and squeezed his hands.

"are you sure you're not just being nice to your girlfriend?". you asked. Xiaojun laughed and shook his head. "of course not! i really mean it. you are very talented! remember when you acted like you were in pain just to get a kiss from me?" . Xiaojun comforted again but didn't forget to tease you . you pulled your hands away and slapped his hand playfully. "ahh why did you have to remind me!". you whined which made him laugh with adoration at your cuteness.

after the short cafe date, you and Xiaojun went to the audition venue by cab . Xiaojun was your moral support. he had always accompanied you to your auditions and comforted you when you were rejected. he would motivate you to do your best and be better each audition.

you were at the waiting room, anxiously waiting for your turn. Xiaojun was sititing beside you while holding your hand in his to give comfort . you on the other hand, tried rehearsing your lines for the last time. you became more nervous when the staff told that you would be going in in about 2 minutes.

"ahh babe i am so nervous!". you mumbled as you faced your cute boyfriend. Xiaojun gave you a small smile and carresed your hair lovingly. "i believe in you , sweetie. you are going to do your best! i promise to treat you to ice cream later after your turn alright?". Xiaojun pecked your lips one last time before you were called. He gave you a soft goodluck as you followed the staff.

you were given quite a good feedback from the judges and they told you they would contact you about the results soon. you went out of the hall to the waiting room earlier with a good feeling. you were about to run and hug your boyfriend but was greeted by his close friend instead.

"oh Hendery! are you here for the audition too? oh and did you see Xiaojun?". you bombarded him with questions.

Hendery chuckled and rubbed his nape. "actually Xiaojun was the one who asked me to come here and walk you home. His mother called him earlier because of something urgent. he really is regretful that he had to leave . ". Hendery tried his best to explain to you as politely as possible. your head dropped as you stared at the floor below you.

"oh.. i understand. family is definitely more important. no worries!". you exclaimed as you looked up to Hendery.

Hendery frowned when he saw your teary eyes. He hated seeing his friend sad so an idea popped into his mind. Hendery grabbed your wrist and pulled you along gently. "times like this call for food! i am starving and i bet you are too! let's go!". you giggled and let Hendery drag you.

Hendery brought you to a small restaurant which was a few stops away from the audition venue. "i always come here with my sister. i'm basically a regular and kind of the owner's favourite,so order anything you want alright. it's on me!". Hendery said and winked. you chuckled at his actions but ordered anyways.

you actually had fun hanging out with Hendery. he was a sweetheart , and a dork too. he would crack jokes randomly which brightened your day up. you always hang out with Xiaojun and his friends but never with any of them individually. it was a refreshing experience eating out with Hendery. after talking and eating, it was finally time for you to go home. Hendery walked you home like how he was asked in the first place. you thanked Hendery for the day and apologised for troubling him. Hendery only responded by shaking his head no and smiled widely. he wished you a goodnight sleep before walking away . you smiled back and went in your apartment.

you lived alone since college years. your parents' house were quite far but you do visit them regularly and they visit you too.

you plopped yourself down on your bed and check your phone. you gasped when you saw text messages from your boyfriend. you were having too much fun you didn't even look at your phone.

Apparently , his childhood friend, named Weiwei, was on a business trip here and Xiaojun's mother asked him to welcome her at the airport. you also got to know that the girl was going to stay at Xiaojun's family's place for a few months because renting an apartment would be bothersome.

you were now feeling more upset actually. he left your side because of another girl? and worse, the girl is staying with him for a while? you were furious, yes. but you were more insecure. you trusted Xiaojun but you just couldn't help yourself from being jealous. i mean, which girlfriend wouldn't? you were tired as you read his explanation and decided to end the conversation with a goodnight.

you switched your phone off and wrapped your whole body with your warm blanket. you tried getting rid of all the bad thoughts and fell asleep in anxiety.

you were woken up by the front door bell . you groaned as you sat up and checked the time. 10am. you groaned again and cursed whoever it was who disturbed your sleep as you walked to the front door. you opened the door but was greeted by no one. you groaned again thinking that it was just a prank but was startled when Xiaojun's head suddenly popped up out of nowhere. he leaned down so your eyes were parallel. he chuckled at your shocked expression and gave a peck on your cheek before inviting himself in. "i texted you but the messages weren't delivered so i figured your phone was dead. i came to really make it up for yesterday". Xiaojun explained.

you finally snapped out from your shock and grinned. you felt like your anger towards him yesterday evaporated just like that. you hugged him and buried your face into his chest. "you don't even know how much i wanted to hug you like this yesterday after the audition. i was overwhelmed with my emotions and the only one who could calm me was you. but you weren't there.". you mumbled sadly. Xiaojun felt guilty and carressed your hair.

"i am really sorry. i promised to treat you ice cream right? jajan!!" . Xiaojun pulled away and showed you the tubs of ice cream he bought.

"i was thinking of a movie-cuddling kind of date today.". Xiaojun said cutely as he tapped his chin with his finger. you giggled and pinched his cheeks. "i am up for it! but can you let me go shower first?". Xiaojun nodded and placed the ice cream tubs on the dining table. "sure, i will just prepare the couch alright!".

after a nice shower,you joined Xiaojun who was sitting on the couch with his phone. he put his phone on the table as he saw you approaching him. but you saw that he was texting Weiwei earlier. you decided to just ignore your jealousy and took the ice cream tub Xiaojun handed to you. Xiaojun then pulled you closer so you snuggled into his chest and enjoyed the ice cream. the both of you watched a romance movie and imitated the cheesy lines. you would giggle everytime Xiaojun peck your head when there is a kiss scene.

"you know, i heard that the 2nd movie is released next week!". you said and took a spoonful of your strawberry cheesecake ice cream.

Xiaojun hummed and pecked your head again. "it's a date then!".

you turned to him with a wide smile. "really?". Xiaojun chuckled and nodded his head. you squealed and pecked his lips. "i can't wait ! it's been a long time since we've went to the cinema together.".

Xiaojun carressed your hair lovingly before putting down his finished ice cream tub. "how about i go and take some blankets so we could cuddle here?". Xiaojun suggested. you nodded excitedly as you stood up to give him space.

as Xiaojun went to your room, you saw his phone lighted up . you peeked and saw notifications from Weiwei. you rolled your eyes and turned his phone around so you wouldn't get distracted. you quickly finished your ice cream and cleaned up before lying down beside Xiaojun. Xiaojun wrapped his arm around your shoulders and pulled you closer. you leanee your ear on his chest and sighed in relief as you relaxed ,listening to his heartbeat. "i love you sweetie and i want you to remember that forever.". Xiaojun whispered and pecked your forehead. "i love you too baobeijun,". you whispered back. the two of you cuddled in silence and soon fell asleep .

it has been a few days after the cuddle date. you haven't really see Xiaojun after that because he was kind of busy with work. you did texted and called each other but you missed him being with you physically. you sighed and just decided to focus on your work. yeah, you has a part time job at a small bookstore. you still had to make income anyways. so while you practised to be an aspiring actress, you still worked hard in earning your own allowance and not only depend on your parents or boyfriend.

you were keying in some things on the computer when the bell chimed, indicating a customer's entrance.

"welcome!". you greeted as you saw a cute girl entered. you were about to ask if she needed help when the door opened again, revealing your handsome boyfriend. you gasped and smiled widely.

"Baobe--". your words were cut off when the cute girl earlier linked arms with Xiaojun. you frowned deeper when Xiaojun didn't even bother to push her away. you quickly gave a small smile when Xiaojun walked towards you with the girl and waved at you cutely.

"babe, this is Weiwei! and Weiwei, this is my girlfriend, y/n !". Xiaojun introduced. you forced a smile and stretched your hand out for a handshake. but your tired arm was ignored as Weiwei hugged Xiaojun's arm and whined. "when we were little you said we were gonna be together!". Xiaojun only chuckled awkwardly and rubbed his nape. he smiled apologetically to you in which you just shook your head . "Xiaojunjun! let's go eat!". Weiwei saidly in her high-pitched voice which hurt your ears. Xiaojun nodded and looked at you, who was looking at the couple sadly.

"i'll see you soon, okay babe?". Xiaojun said softly as if you were the most fragile thing there. you smiled and nodded. before you could speak, Weiwei pulled and dragged Xiaojun out of the store.

you wanted to just cry out loud but you held yourself back. Xiaojun has been to busy with work and couldn't spend even an hour with you but here he was spending his free time with another girl. you knew she was just a friend and you trusted Xiaojun. you love Xiaojun. but it hurt you how he was being oblivious of your painful heart . you decided to push aside the thoughts and focused on work. you were grateful there weren't many customers on that day . you were not really in the mood to entertain others . half an hour before the store closed, the bell chimed indicating a new customer. you continued packing up books and your things while the customer looked for their desired books. you were packing your bag when the customer placed books on the counter. "hi , i would like to ask if the last volume of this comic is still available?". you quickly turned around at the familiar voice. the customer blinked and chuckled. "i didn't know it was your shift ,". Hendery stated. you gave a small smile and nodded. "yeah i was just covering for my co-worker. ". you said softly. you quickly looked at the comic he was purchasing and keyed in the code in the computer.

"the last volume is sold out . but the new stock is coming tomorrow! you could come by if you like and i could reserve one for you.". you explained.

Hendery grinned and nodded. "sure,i'll purchase these first and come back again tomorrow!". after settling his books, it was finally time for you to lock the bookstore and head home.

you switched off everything and quickly closed the store down. you gasped when Hendery suddenly stood in front of you. Hendery chuckled at your reaction . "i was thinking of dinner. together?". Hendery suggested. you chuckled and shook your head. "i'm actually kind of fu--". your lie was cut off when your stomach growled violently. the two of you stared at each other before laughing. "alright, how about hotpot and some beer? at the same place!". you suggested this time. Hendery smiled widely and nodded. "i'm paying this time so don't worry about what you want to eat alright!". you said again . you tried making yourself happy but your lifeless eyes could never lie Hendery. Hendery decided to just play along with you and waited for you to open up yourself. he hated seeing his friends hurt but he hated forcing people more.

you were on your second bottle of beer, you were not really drunk but drunk enough to cry outloud the feelings you've been hiding since afternoon.

"i know she is just a friend but why is she getting more attention then me? your girlfriend? am i just dumb for crying or are you dumb? why does Xiaojun have to be so kind towards other girls? this is unfair!". you whined and downed another shot .

Hendery kept quiet and let you let out all your feelings. he thought it was finally time for you to cry out everything and feel better .

"Hendery, is it really childish and petty of me to be jealous like this?". you turned to your friend and slurred your words. Hendery only sighed and tucked your hair back behind your ears to have a clearer sight of your red face. "no i understand. you shouldn't feel bad for feeling this way. i can't help you much but i am here for you when you need me.". Hendery comforted. you nodded at his response before falling asleep right after . Hendery quickly stretched his arm out before you could knock your head on the table. Hendery sighed as he combed your hair neatly with his fingers. he understood Xiaojun for taking care of his childhood friend but he was disappointed Xiaojun made you feel like this. Hendery decided to call Xiaojun to pick you up. He felt like it was only right for him as a friend to help his friends out.

A few minutes later,Hendery tried waking you up. you woke up with a groan and clutched your head. "are you sober enough to walk?". Hendery asked as he held your shoulder. you nodded and stood up slowly. Hendery helped you and walked out of the restaurant with you . the moment the two of you stepped out of the restaurant, Xiaojun ran towards you . "babe!". he exclaimed as he took you from Hendery. your head was still spinning but you figured Xiaojun's face. you turned to Hendery as he gave you a small smile. "rest well, alright?". Hendery said before excusing himself.

"why did you drink so much babe?" . Xiaojun asked as he piggybacked you. you leaned your head on his back and sighed. "i was sad. i was angry. i was tired.". you replied word by word. you felt the wind as Xiaojun walked on the empty street, bringing you home.

"do you want to tell me why?". Xiaojun asked softly. your heart broke. of course you were sad and angry because of him. but his sweet and innocent self just couldn't realise that. "i love you Jun... i hope you do too. please stay with me.". you breathed out, holding yourself back from crying. Xiaojun stopped in his tracks for a bit but continued walking right after . "of course i love you too. i am here always, by your side.".

you fell asleep on his comfortable back as you felt assured.

you wore Xiaojun's favourite baby blue blouse and styled your hair simply with some light make up. you were excited for your movie date. you were at the cinema , waiting for your boyfriend. he promised to be there half an hour before the movie starts. but coming to 10 minutes before showtime, he was still not there. you tried texting him but the messages were not delivered. maybe his phone battery died, you thought. you tapped your foot nervously as you scanned the place for your boyfriend.

you sighed and held your head down sadly. *did he forget about our date?* . you were about to exit the cinema when someone called your name. you turned and were greeted by Hendery. he really was like your guardian angel. there whenever you were sad.

"are you here alone? what movie are you watching?". Hendery asked. you smiled sadly and shook your head. "today was supposed to be our movie date but Xiaojun is not here. i tried contacting him but he didn't reply. i think i should just go back.". you explained.

Hendery frowned at his friend's actions. He really was disappointed in Xiaojun.

"how about we watch a movie together? hmm i was thinking, Dora The Explorer?". Hendery suggested, trying to cheer you up. you chuckled at his unique choice of movie and nodded. "that is a great idea! let's go!". you agreed and grabbed his wrist to buy the tickets.

during the movie, Hendery suddenly heard soft sniffings. He turned to look at you and sighed . you were wiping your tears that were flowing down your cheeks non-stop. it was obvious you were crying because of Xiaojun, the movie wasn't even a sad one. Hendery grabbed your hands and squeezed them to comfort you. he then pulled your head to lean on his shoulder. "it's okay sweetie, it's okay. i am always here to comfort you.". Hendery whispered as he carressed your hair. his sweet words calmed you throughout the movie. you were sorry to Hendery for always being stuck in your relationship, but you were also grateful to have him as a good friend.

after the movie, you went to the ladies to freshen up . Hendery waited for you and invited you to dinner. "how about we go to the usual? i kind of like the concept of having our hangout place.". you said as you walked out of the cinema with Hendery. Hendery chuckled but agreed to your suggestion anyway. dinner made your day. you decided to totally ignore your thoughts about Xiaojun and spend quality time with your now new bestfriend. you and Hendery shared a lot of things with each other , from cute childhood stories to epic highschool memories. you also found out that the both of you were big fans of Attack on Titans and Tokyo Ghoul. Hendery promised to lend you his AOT mangas as you promised to recommend him other great animes and mangas. the day eventually ended with Hendery walking you home. "thank you so much for today Hendery. i am very thankful to have you as my friend.". Hendery smiled at your words and patted your head. "i am always here if you are im need of a friend. the restaurant is always open for us to have more fun.". you thanked him again and bid him goodnight as you entered your apartment.

you threw your phone on the couch as you stood up. you decided to just ignore his texts. you were really mad. not just because he ditched you on the most awaited date, but he ditched you as he spent time with another girl. you knew Xiaojun was just being kind but is he really dense to not draw the line? you didn't want your relationship to be ruined by a girl who suddenly appeared in your life. you thought your relationship with Xiaojun was strong , but recent incidents made you doubtful. you washed up and went to bed straight away.

you woke up the next morning feeling a bit better after a goodnight sleep. you were having your light breakfast when you heard a knock from the front door. you groaned as you weren't expecting any guests.

you opened the door only to push it back close as you see his face. but before the door could close fully, Xiaojun held onto it with his leg. "babe please let me in.". he begged. you contemplated for a bit but opened the door anyways. you quickly walked away before he could hug you. Xiaojun followed you to the kitchen as he called out your name softly. Xiaojun wrapped his arms around your shoulders but you harshly pushed him away and faced him.

"Xiaojun. i am tired. please, i am tired of being mad with you and settle my feelings with a hug from you. this is not that simple, Jun. i love you , i really do. but the amount of times you've hurt me in these 2 months is more than the whole 2 years that we've spent together..". you confessed.

Xiaojun tried to pull you into a hug but you rejected. you wiped the tears that were flowing down your cheeks as you continued. "why do you think i was drunk the other night? you think i wanted to feel depressed like that? you think everything was back to normal when you came to pick me up?!". you didn't intend to raise your voice at him but your emotions were unstable.

Xiaojun was startled at your outburst. he looked at you with teary eyes. you sighed as you sat on the floor and pulled your legs before burying your face in between them. your sobs echoed through the silent kitchen. you felt Xiaojun moving closer. he squatted beside you and wrapped his arms around your body before pulling you into his warm chest. "i'm sorry , i'm sorry, sshhh i'm sorry, i love you babe, i really love you . i'm sorry i hurt you, i love you really. i am here now and i promise i won't leave you.". Xiaojun whispered in an attempt to comfort your broken heart. you finally gave in and cried out into his chest.

a few moments later, Xiaojun carried you into your bedroom. he lied down beside you and pulled you closer. you buried your face into the crook of his neck and sniffed in his scent. you relaxed in his arms as you calmed yourself down. "i missed you so much,". he mumbled as he pecked your head. the two of you lied down in silence, enjoying each other's presence and calm breathing. Xiaojun was about to fall asleep when his ringtone startled the both of you. you slowly pulled away from him to give hin space to sit up. Xiaojun rubbed his eyes cutely as he searched for his phone. you couldn't help but giggle at the cute sight and although you were still a bit mad, you didn't hold yourself back from giving him a quick peck on the lips. Xiaojun froze at your sudden action before slowly reaching for his phone. he was used to receiving kisses from you but he was suddenly shy after the fight , his ears turned red . you giggled at his reaction and nudged him to do something about his phone. "i--i'll take this call for a while okay?" he stuttered. you nodded before lying down back on your bed.

after the short call, Xiaojun turned to face you with a guilty expression. "babe.. i really want to spend time with you but this is urgent. Weiwei is having troubles with settling her project and i have to go help. i am really sorry babe.". Xiaojun explained and apologised.

you sighed, just when you thought it was back to normal, everything was about to be ruined again. "it's urgent right? let me walk you to the front door.". you said as you got off the bed. Xiaojun gulped as he sensed your sarcasm. he followed you out of the room like a puppy. "i'm really sorry babe.. how about i take you on a date on Saturday?". Xiaojun tried to persuade you. you gave a small smile and pushed him out off your apartment gently. "i can't. i have plans.". you replied and quickly closed your front door. you heard Xiaojun knocked for a few minutes, begging you to open the door but he then stopped when you ignored him . you figured he finally gave up and went to settle his urgent matters.

you rolled your eyes at his message and were tempted to just throw your phone on the ground. he had been ignoring your daily life activities because of his own but had the audacity to suddenly act caring when you finally gave him the cold shoulder. you ignored his message and decided to text Hendery .

hey Hendery, i was thinking if you could accompany me this Saturday? i am finally casted for the drama i auditioned for recently and this Saturday is our first shooting. i am quite nervous to go alone...

you waited for a few seconds before Hendery replied.

you smiled at his response and quickly informed him the details. you were glad he didn't ask about Xiaojun . he really was a friend with good sense.

the day finally came. you met up with Hendery early and decided to get some breakfast together. "you can do it , y/n . don't be too nervous or else you wouldn't be able to focus. here drink some hot tea, to calm you down.". you thanked him for his advice and comforting words. after the short breakfast, the both of you went to the shooting venue.

the site for the rehearsed scene was outdoor. the hot weather was not really helping with your nerves. you practised your lines as much as possible as the stylists prepared you before you were called to the site. you were only a side character but your character actually plays quite an important role in the drama. Hendery gave you a supporting pat as your turn came.

you did a good job with your lines but your co-actor kept on making mistakes. because of that the scene you were in had to be filmed for a few times. you tried to be consistent in the quality of your performance but the hot weather made you exhausted. you were sweating like mad that the stylists had to wipe them for you every few minutes.

the director finally gave a break time, asking your co-actor to calm his nerves and practise his line again. you were glad the director was nice enough to be patient with him . if you were the director, you would have screamed at him. you saw Hendery waving at you as you walked towards him . Hendery's smile turned into a frown as he saw your pale face. he quickly caught you as you stumbled. "are you okay?". he asked as he tried supporting you to stand up straight. "i am a bit dizzy," you managed to reply as you clutched your head. just as you spoke, your body felt weak and you fainted. Hendery's eyes widened as he wrapped his arm under your body and carried you. "ambulance! somebody call the ambulance!" .

Hendery : Dejun, your girlfriend just fainted . she is admitted to the hospital now.

Xiaojun : what? tell me the hospital address, i am on my way.

Hendery : alright, come here safely .

Hendery ended the call as he sat beside your bed. he carressed your head and sighed. a few minutes later, Xiaojun arrived . Hendery stood up and greeted his friend. Xiaojun gave Hendery a brotherly hug and went to you who were still sleeping. he held your cheek dearly and pecked your forehead. "what happened?". Xiaojun asked Hendery softly. "she was at the shooting site earlier--". Hendery's words were cut off by Xiaojun. "wa-wait, she was casted ?". Hendery frowned and nodded. "didn't she tell you?" . Xiaojun looked at you sadly and hesitated a nod. "kind of...". Hendery nodded before explaining further. "she fainted after her turn. the doctor said she was too stressful and dehydrated . that was why she fainted. but the doctor said to not worry, a rest and lots of water can make her feel better.". Xiaojun sat beside your bed and held your hand. "i see, thank you Guanheng.". Hendery nodded and stood beside Xiaojun. Xiaojun stayed by your side till night. Hendery stayed too. he was worried about both of his friends . "Dejun.. you've been here since afternoon. why not we go take some fresh air and have dinner ? y/n wouldn't want you to fall ill too.". Hendery patted his friend's shoulder. Xiaojun contemplated for a while but agreed to his friend's suggestion . he pecked your hand for the last time before leaving the hospital.

"which restaurant is still open at this hour?". Xiaojun asked as he checked the time. it was late night. Hendery grinned and patted his back. "i know the perfect place.".Hendery sat on his usual spot while Xiaojun sat on yours. the owner greeted them and passed the menus. "Guanheng! you didn't come with your girlfriend today?". Hendery blinked at her question as Xiaojun stared at Hendery. "you have a girlfriend?". Xiaojun asked. Hendery shook his head and tried to reply the owner. "no no auntie, she is not my gi--". his words were cut off when the owner exclaimed. " ah y/n ! she isn't here today.". Xiaojun's expression was unreadable. Hendery gulped and shook his head. "may we just look at the menu and order ,auntie?". the oblivious owner smiled and nodded before going back to the counter.

"this is just a misunderstanding Dejun.". Hendery started as he stared at the menu that he had memorised by heart. Xiaojun was silent for a bit but smiled . "i understand Guanheng. don't worry. why not we just order?i am starving!!". Hendery knew Xiaojun was just pretending to be okay. Xiaojun and you were really soulmates. hiding your real feelings. Hendery nodded and ordered some food.

the meal was silent and calm. both too occupied with their own thoughts. after the meal, Xiaojun paid for the food and thanked Hendery once again. "why not you go home and rest? i will be with y/n.". Xiaojun said in a matter of factly. not really as a suggestion. Hendery nodded and bid his friend goodnight before going back home.

Xiaojun stayed with for the whole night. you woke up to see your boyfriend sleeping, head on the edge of your bed. you carressed his soft brown locks gently as you stared at his calm sleeping face. Xiaojun's eyes opened slowly as he sat up. he grabbed your hand and pecked them before asking. "are you feeling better ?". you only nodded and squeezed his hand. "did Hendery call you?". Xiaojun hummed in response. his other hand balled into a fist as he heard his friend's name. "the doctor said you can discharge after you eat your breakfast. he said to drink lots of water and rest well.". your eyes widened when you realised you were at job when you fainted. you quickly searched for your phone to check for any messages. "missing Hendery already?". Xiaojun asked with gritted teeth. you looked up from your phone and frowned. "what?". Xiaojun smirked and scoffed. "nothing.". you turned back to your phone and read the text from one of the staffs.

-we hope you have a good rest. we are sorry for not considering your condition , we will update you about the next shootings. for now, we just want you to have a good rest- .

you sighed in relief as you finished reading the text. you thought you were going to be replaced by another actress. you placed your phone down and looked at Xiaojun who was staring at you. "have you eaten?". you asked. Xiaojun shook his head and rubbed his face with his hands. "i'll eat later after sending you home. i don't have the appetite to eat.". you frowned at his answer and placed your hand on his cheek as you carressed them gently. "please eat well. i don't want you to fall ill.". you said softly. Xiaojun gave a small smile and nodded.

in the cab on the way to your house, you leaned your head on Xiaojun's shoulder as he rubbed your interwined hands with his thumb. you jumped when you heard your phone ring.

*incoming call from Huang Guanheng*

you looked at Xiaojun as he nodded his head letting you answer the phone.

Hendery : are you home?

You : i'm on my way home in the cab. I am with Xiaojun.

Hendery : that is great . rest well okay? and y/n .. did you not tell him about the drama?

you kept silent at his question. Hendery called your names a few times .

You : i will alright. don't worry .

Hendery : he is your boyfriend,he should know.

you nodded your head as if he was in front of you.

You : okay okay, stop nagging, gosh.

Hendery chuckled at your response and advised you one last time before ending the call.

Xiaojun squeezed your hand right after you kept your phone. you leaned back onto his shoulder before calling his name out softly.

"babe,, i wanted to tell you but i was mad the other day. i actually got casted for the drama that i auditioned for the last time.". Xiaojun was quiet for a while. he carressed your hand and pecked your forehead. "congrats babe. see, i told you you would make it. you are talented.". he whispered. you smiled and pecked his cheek as you thanked him. you decided to just relax in silence as the cab took you back home.

you plopped on your couch as you arrived home. Xiaojun locked the front door and joined you on the couch. you switched on the TV and searched for fun shows to watch. "hey would you like some tea?". Xiaojun offered. you smiled and nodded . Xiaojun went to the kitchen to make some tea for the both of you. he thought this gave him some time to gather his courage for the words he was about to say . he hoped the tea would calm the both of you before the storm comes.

he placed both cups on the coffee table. your eyes were still stuck to the TV as you sipped on the hot tea. you turned to Xiaojun when he suddenly lowered down the volume of the TV. Xiaojun gave a small smile as he reached for your hands. he gave them a squeeze before starting his speech.

"y/n. we need to talk. i don't think this is going to work between us..". you frowned at his words and remembered what he said earlier. "is this because of Hendery? Xiaojun. i've been patient for almost three months now when you have to entertain Weiwei but just because of your jealousy towards Hendery , you want to break up? Hendery is just a friend! ". you asked , obviously disappointed with him . Xiaojun shook his head as he pulled his hands away from yours. "it's not just jealousy, okay?!". you were startled when he raised his voice. Xiaojun sighed and ruffled his hair roughly. "it's not jealousy...". his voice was back to his usual soft voice. "it's a realisation. i realised that Hendery can take care of you better than I can . he treats you better than me. you deserve a man better than me.". you frowned at his what you would say nonsensical excuses.

"no... i don't want to break up with you. i love you Xiaojun! don't you love me too? you promised me you are going to be by my side always.". you said as tears trickled down from your eyes. Xiaojun wiped his own tears as he looked into your eyes. "i do.. i love you. i love you so much therefore we can't be together. i love you so much i don't want to see you hurt . i love you so much i want you to know that you deserve better. i love you... but we are not meant to be with each other.".

your palms turned into fists as you hit his chest. "you stupid jerk! that doesn't make any sense! if you love me, stay with me! don't give up on me!". you shouted as you hit him. Xiaojun grabbed your wrists as he pulled you into a hug. "i love you. this is for your best.". he whispered and pecked your forehead for the last time . Xiaojun stood up and went out of your apartment, leaving you crying on the couch.

Hendery cursed under his breath as he read the message from his friend. "what did this idiot do this time." Hendery mumbled as he rushed to your apartment.

Hendery arrived at your house a few minutes after Xiaojun left. the door was unlocked. Hendery quickly went in only to be greeted by your sleeping figure on the couch. he locked the front door and went to you. Hendery sighed as he saw you tear-stained face. he wiped your dry tears and carried you to your room. "she was just healing and you decided to break her again.". Hendery mumbled as he placed you on your bed. you stirred in your sleep and woke up slowly. you saw Hendery standing beside your bed with a worried look. he sat on the edge of your bed and held your hands. "he is an idiot. i am going to talk to him later alright? he is going to make this wo--". his words were cut off as you shook your head. "no Hendery. he is not going to turn back anymore. i know him. this is what he wanted. he thinks this is the best choice.". you tried to say but broke down right after. Hendery sighed and pulled your head towards his chest. "i'm here. i'm here. it's okay , just cry it all out. maybe this is for the best afterall. you are precious y/n and i am here to protect you always.". Hendery comforted you.

the crowd cheered as you stood up from your chair, surprised that you had won the award. you bowed to your seniors and juniors as you walked up to the stage. you received the plaque from the announcer and went to the front to give your winning speech.

"first of all i would like to thank my parents for always supporting me . i thank my fans too for loving my works! i will work harder and improve myself better and better. i would like to thank those who i have worked with. without them, i might not even have the chance to be an actress and moreover, win this award. not to forget , i would also like to thank this amazing person, my friend, Hendery. thank you for being by my side all these years especially these past 4 years. he is a really good producer so check out some of his musics alright? lastly, thank you once again!". you felt your legs tremble as you went back to your seat.

you smiled as you read his text. you looked up to the stage when you heard the MC called a familiar name.

"before we end the show, we would like to invite this show's biggest sponsor, from the company DJX , Mr Xiaojun , to accept our appreciation gift.". you gulped when you saw the handsome man on the stage. his previous brown locks were now blonde. his smile was still the same like before. but his features were more defined as he matured throughout these years. you gave a small smile when he looked at you and quickly looked away . *you've moved on y/n. don't give in to him.* you thought to yourself.

you were standing at a corner with a glass of fruitpunch, waiting for your manager to bring you back. you didn't really enjoy after-event parties but attended anyways out of politeness. you were looking around when you saw Xiaojun walked towards you. you looked up and accidentally stared right into his brown orbs. "it's been a while, Xiaojun.". the way his real name rolled off your tongue hurt him . he nodded and finally looked at you. "so you and Hendery are together now?". he asked. you chuckled and shook your head. "he is just a friend. a brother. i told you before, didn't i?". you replied with a small smile. Xiaojun looked down sadly but looked back up to you. "y/n. i'm really sorry...". you chuckled again and patted his shoulder. "let the past be past ,Xiaojun. i actually wanted to thank you for all the bittersweet memories. they really help me alot in my acting . experience is what makes it easier to stay in character.". your words hurt him. like how his words hurt you 4 years ago. before Xiaojun could say anything, you were called by your manager. "oh looks like i got to go. see you when i see you!". you waved at him before leaving the ballroom.

Xiaojun sighed as he stared at your back walking away from him. he would be lying if he said he didn't regret leaving you. his life has been nothing but miserable after breaking up with you. he focused on work to distract himself but his soul was empty. before he could leave the venue, he heard the DJ introducing a song. "before leaving, the actress y/n had requested this song. she hoped all of you enjoy it.".

Xiaojun decided to stay and listened to the song you love .

it depends on the movie, because some are worse than others, but i really blame i think disney for making every animation studio/movie feel like they NEED an animal sidekick. i bet we can make most barbie movies with dogs/animal sidekicks work without them— which is a major problem!!! they work best in stories where they’re absolutely essential in some way than ones where it’s like ‘LOOK A DOG!!!’ 

i can say at least in princess adventure the dog didn’t talk, because sometimes the animals talk to each other with no purpose and it’s just like oh my god, and if the animals in princess adventure talked, there would be zero point to it (unlike in princess and the pauper for example) 

if we’re talking serious comparisons, i think prince in princess charm school is a great use of an animal character! he’s relevant in multiple ways and doesn’t feel shoved in for merchandise. he’s got a connection to the characters that the audience can understand, and also he just looks like a dog and does dog things. 

not a dog, but a cat that i hate: miettte from three musketeers. she talks so she’s more annoying, but i don’t think she adds like anything to the plot. she might have done something relevant that i’m sure could’ve been done another way but she also has NO personality, because her personality is the EXACT same as corinnes!!!! so what’s the point!!!!

i fucking h a t e tika and shiver, they’re both annoying and frustrate me to no end, but at least i can say that they force things to happen in the plot. maybe a little hamfistedly but literally WHAT is the dog in princess adventure doing. what does that dog add. i guess the rabbit adds something (both those things being direct parallels to patp so no real points there imo), but what does the dog do i literally just watched this movie and i can’t remember

(also in princess adventure.......how the hell did the dogs get in the airport....how did that dog stay in the backpack for 10 hours without her noticing........WHY DOES NO ONE HAVE A L E  A S H) 

but re the actual animation of them, some are better than others. the ones in diamond castle are HORRIFYING particularly in the scene where they dance????? but the newer ones aren’t as bad. 

tl;dr: it’s a case by case situation for me! when the animals are well rounded and have an actual point (aside from filling the animal sidekick or let’s sell merch role) to them, i don’t mind them. but a lot of them are nuisances. 

the animation is hit or miss, better when they try to go for more realistic than cute big eyed plushes

top 5 debbie/ruth moments?

oh tough because first of all every moment between them is my favorite, but here’s what I’m feeling tonight, in no particular order.

1)

that entire fight scene at the hospital in 2x07. the whole series was building there, to them finally communicating more honestly, and it was just such a powerful, cathartic scene between the two of them.

this is cheating but I'm also counting a later moment as part of #1 because reasons

i love that moment when debbie comes back later in the ep with ruth’s clothes and asks to sign ruth’s cast but is so nervous and vulnerable she can’t even say the word sign she just says “can i s....” and just looks at ruth the whole time that she’s taking the pen from bash and waits for the okay. they can never really apologize to each other, ruth doesn't apologize for having sex w mark and debbie only apologizes in sharpie from the leg break but you just see how deeply they understand each other here and how at the end of the day they always come back to each other and take each other back (just like sheila’s parents bc ruth and debbie are paralleled to married people jeez GLOW yeah you can go ahead and parallel them to more married couples I’m fine with that thx)

2)

the whole 3x10 airport scene. throughout the series, debbie shows how deeply she cares about ruth but it’s rly always under the guise of it being about wrestling or this or that. finally in that airport moment, debbie’s basically saying “hey i care about you and i finally want you to really see that and I choose you because I want the best for you and i want the best for me and the best for me is with you..” (or something) and there’s just something incredibly powerful about the way the series builds to that moment too. 

i also find it so interesting how they once again discuss happiness and how much the meaning of that one word has shifted over the series (they also discuss happiness in their scenes in 1x01, 2x07, 2x10, and prob other times i’ve forgotten). 

also i love the hug, i mean we were waiting for it to happen again since the pilot. 

i love that we finally get to see that ruth isn’t going to passively take what others give her. (we know she’ll find her way back to debbie in the end, she always does).

and ruth saying that debbie understands ruth more than anyone?!! this scene  did that. i mean, we knew this in subtext, but this season took so much in subtext and made it text, and it all felt so earned. also the fact that Debbie says to Tex earlier in the ep that she could never say to Ruth what she legit ends up saying to Ruth in the end of the ep about Ruth’s acting...I...that’s so interesting. Like, yeah, Debbie truly does understand Ruth better than anyone, that is for sure. She legit predicted that Ruth’d say no here but was too excited and hopeful to think otherwise.

also debbie eagan who doesn’t like to be vulnerable w ppl or give up her power/control EVER, who has said stuff like i never want to see you again to ruth in the pilot, who said in 1x03 she’d throw ruth out a window if ruth talked to her again, legit running after ruth in an airport? invented romance, invented growth. what a dumbass, i love them both.

3)

1x04 pool scene. debbie can’t be in the same building w her husband but moments later chooses to stay for however long in silence w ruth...uh yeahh just the best. she has to act like she hates ruth because she knows that she shouldn’t care about ruth any more and she feels so powerless since her whole identity as housewife has been shattered that her hatred gives her a sense of control and power in ways, but in moments like these when she doesn’t have to act and have a mask on to protect herself because no one is watching, you see how much she cares and what ruth means to her. 

i love so much about this scene, the way silence and sound are used and it feels so intimate. i love the pool in between them, showing the gaping emotional distance between them.

it’s also such a contrast to those scenes w Mark who is always imposing on debbie what he wants at his pace rather than hers like therapeutic leans and wanting to sleep in their house but w ruth, debbie gets to choose the speed to which they come back together and is willing to be whatever debbie wants and takes debbie (her pain, her career, her as a person) seriously, so they actually get a chance to heal while debbie and mark fall apart in the end...yeahh

4)

1x09 that scene where debbie says what wrestling means to her and how she feels like a superhero (which becomes something they come back to again and again in the series) and you can tell ruth and debbie are still so fucked up but you can also see how deeply they need each other. 

like they’re so playful in the start of the convo?? and in the end can’t help but have an honest conversation even though they shouldn’t, even though ruth has hurt debbie so much, she can’t help but open up to ruth. and ruth thinks debbie’s going to abandon ruth (and GLOW) for mark, can’t seem to hear what debbie’s saying bc of insecurity (Debbie really just needs advice about what to do with Mark because she has no one else to talk to but Ruth can’t hear that), and it’s just such a perfect scene filled with miscommunication and need and the epicness of Debbie’s description of wrestling and the epicness of how Ruth listens with such intense longing and love and she’s just so proud of Debbie too and then that painful discovery “Sometimes I'm so sad you took away the option of us ever being able to have a normal fucking conversation.” I think we see both ruth and debbie’s insecurities and fears here in a lot of ways throughout this scene but also we see their connection and how they listen to each other and need each other...also omg they look at each other with soooo much love and longing jfc especially before Ruth looks away and she cuts herself off from speaking...it’s insane.....yeah i love this scene.

oh also the look of brief horror as ruth arrives at a lone debbie at the beginning of the scene, which I screenshotted above, where she realizes she’s stopped at debbie’s side and her face just screams, “oh nooo oh goddd!!” incredible. and the doorway thingy that visually separates them which happens a lot in the series, there are a lot of visual separations to go with their emotional distance. 

anyway, they’re testing the waters here. they’ve opened up to each other while wrestling because wrestling requires trust and communication, and this scene gives them an opportunity to test the waters with each other outside of that.  

5)

I think my favorite episode of the entire series is 1x07. In terms of favorite moment from that ep, it’d prob be the part where ruth and debbie describe what they want from wrestling. debbie says she wants to fly (again goes back to the superhero thing and i love the callback that occurs in 1x10 bc ruth pays attention to debbie’s wants here and says “you flew” at the end of their match in the finale). ruth says she wants the whole room to boo her, such a change over a few eps, the people pleaser who wants to be booed bc she just wants to make herself look bad to try and heal things w debbie and starts to find freedom and power in playing the bad guy. 

And the two are soo in sync as Carmen’s brothers show Ruth and Debbie various moves. Like they have the same reaction the whole time and confer with each other and it’s so cute?? And Debbie gets so excited as she sees something she wants to do and Ruth is so excited for her: “That. I want to do that.”

Like, ruth is just so excited to see how debbie’s grown and how empowered debbie has become because of wrestling. Adorable. and it’s super cute to see how ruth looks at debbie throughout the scene and just tries to be there for debbie. And, how much debbie trusts ruth with her body and safety and they just learn to communicate and explore what they want from their bodies together (such a difference from that 1x01 exercise scene where they’re all doing the same boring moves). like i love how empowering that scene is for them as individuals and together ok. 

Like, Ruth is Debbie’s #1 fan just look at her lil face in the screenshots above. She looks at her like that the whole episode. I just...

So I met a cute guy on the plane. That almost never happens. In fact, that never ever happens. But this story, because it’s my story, isn’t going to end up how you think it might.

After getting a suitcase dropped on, plenty of air hostesses fussing over me and 1 ice pack placed on my shoulder, I turned around and finally noticed the person on the other side of the empty seat next to me.

“He didn’t even say sorry, did he?” My seat mate nodded over to the guy behind who was responsible-yet-took-no-responsibility for my injury. I shrugged and replied, “I always have bad luck with airport things.” “Really?” He seemed intrigued. What he also seemed, was quite good looking. Tall, if I were to judge by the way his legs had to turn sideways to squeeze into the lovely economy seats we were both in. Later, I was to be proved correct and then some. He was 6”4. A great conversationalist. White. Not just any white. British. I did an internal laugh to myself because I had recently been joking with friends that I would end up with just that: a White British guy. How oddly specific. Could this be the start of a really cute romantic comedy movie? Where two strangers meet in row 36?

Turns out, it was a cute romantic comedy movie - down to the tee. Just not mine. Clark, as he introduced himself, was originally from Kent but had spent the last 5 days in New York because of this girl. But by the way he said “this girl” you could sort of extrapolate and guess that what he really meant to say was “the girl”. And honestly, I don’t blame him.

“Tell me the short version”, I said to him, not expecting that much but a few tidbits here and there. Instead, he goes, “I’ll tell you the long version - we’ve got time.”

I found out that their moms were pen-pals back in the day. It sounds like something straight out of a movie script. They had been in and out of each other’s lives since they could remember. He’d get Christmas cards from her family every year. She would visit them in England every so often with hers. And yet, despite knowing each other their whole lives they never really knew each other at all. That’s where the whole “timing is everything” saying holds true.

Last year - or at least that’s what he said, I don’t recall the exact time, that’s what talking for hours on a plane does to you - something just clicked. Sometimes it just takes that one time. They finally got to spend some time together one on one away from prying eyes and ears of their families only to figure just how much they had common. How easy being with each other was. From then, they started talking more, and not out of obligation. “Come to New York,” she’d tell him. “Soon,” he’d say. Back and forth they went on like that until he realized they could keep on talking about it or he could actually just do it.

“Tickets were only 380 pounds,” he told me. “What’s that in dollars?” I asked back, mentally telling myself I needed to stop converting currencies. “Like 400 dollars max.” “Shit.” “Yeah”. It was a no brainer, tickets were cheap and he booked his flight 3 weeks beforehand although I suspect that even if tickets were 4000 dollars he’d probably find a way to come.

Because at god knows what time and whatever ocean we were crossing then, he looked at me with this bursting energy and a smile he couldn’t keep off of his face despite tired eyes. “So how was it? Better than you thought?” I asked him, already knowing the answer. “It was... it was...” It was the kind of response that didn’t have words and for someone who appreciated words like no other, I could also appreciate how sometimes a feeling didn’t have words because it was simply that indescribable and trying to match that feeling with some combination of letters would not do justice to it.

He showed me a picture she posted of them together on Instagram (we are now Instagram friends and I told him if they ever got married he better invite me). They are an unfairly beautiful couple. One of those couples you’d see walking down the street and wonder how they got together. Well this, this is how they got together. This is the story. I told him, “this is the part of the movie where the guy flies back home and realizes he needs to fly right back.” He laughed but I noticed he didn’t disagree. Then he turns to me and goes, “this right here,” he motions between us, “this is also a scene.” I laugh back at him this time. Because it was. People are right when they say sometimes strangers make the best listeners because on that flight, he really poured out his heart and I felt every sincere, unfiltered emotion.

I told him a little bit about my own love life, or lack of one. About how I’m in love with my best friend and the fact that I actually told him - and the fact that he has a girlfriend. “He works at Google but he’s moving to San Francisco soon. We lead weirdly parallel lives. Consistently moving in different directions.” Clark looked at me for a minute before saying that Charlotte - that’s her name - works at Google too. Weirdly parallel lives indeed. Me and him? Me and Ivan? Charlotte and Clark?  Whatever it was, there was something in the air  - I’m convinced.

We ended talking for a while and then once they dimmed the cabin lights we each dozed off respectively. Next thing I know we’re walking to immigration together. We stop in front of the sign that directs EU citizens one way and Non EU citizens the other. I guess this was it. He promised to keep me up to date with Charlotte. How their next meeting’s going to go (next month). And if he’ll eventually move to New York (he will). And as for me? He told me that time’s so short, there’s no time at all really, to think too much, about what I want. “If it feels right, do it.” I nodded, partly convinced, partly not. He could probably tell, which was why he added, “what are you waiting for?”

The Mad Death

So again, I have come back to this blog after an extended absence, and one way I thought I could help keep things fresh was by having a bit of wider range of things on here.  Therefore, as well as the regular film trailers, I will be having more TV trailers, continuity announcements, commercials, all that kind of stuff.  As I often say, variety is the spice of life!.  Let’s start that with something I discovered thanks to Scarred for Life; at the turn of the 80s, there was a bit of a paranoia about rabies getting over to the UK.  And by a bit of paranoia, I mean absolute terror leading to some of that wonderful source of nightmare fuel, incredibly blunt Public Information Films.  Those made it look like Europe was basically awash in the disease; man, if Brexit had started back then...

So with this hysteria, we have this very well balanced and level headed loo- OK, I can’t finish that sentence with a straight face!  Whilst this TV mini series from BBC Scotland does seem to have made every effort to treat the disease itself realistically, the tone here is definitely going for full on outbreak horror.  In fact, it’s interesting to note that, despite most of “the infected” being animals, there are a lot of scenes that are reminiscent of horror films which also touch on these areas.  There’s quite a big dose to George Romero’s The Crazies, including in the way that a lot of conflict comes purely from people not wanting to co-operate with the quarantine/marshal law being introduced.  There’s a bit with one infected dog loose in a shopping mall, which recalls a set piece in David Cronenberg’s Rabid, only it doesn’t end with a Santa getting shot.  Then there is one extended sequence with an infected dog being shot at from a helicopter, which is almost identical (bar a lack of snow) to the opening of John Carpenter’s The Thing.  I’m not sure how many of these are co-incidental, but they do make for interesting parallels.  Mind, as well as referencing the past, given that the climax does come thanks to an animal rights advocate letting loose a lot of infected pets, I do wonder if Alex Garland and Danny Boyle ever saw this when they were thinking up 28 Days Later...

Here’s the thing looking back in hindsight at this; all of those horror notes I mentioned above?  They actually seem rather tame in a weird way if you consider when Britain later had incidents like Foot & Mouth disease, the proposed badger cull when TB was spreading, and of course the mass Mad Cow Disease epidemic which came about a decade after this.  Before we get the full on hunt for infected dogs, it’s mostly just penning up pets and such, but as we’ve seen, the government is often pretty quick to jump straight to the more extreme measures (well, given how many of them go on fox hunts, I’m not surprised).  I remember seeing on the news as I was growing up some of the shots of the big mass graves for cows in suspected infected areas.  More realistically, this three part series would have cut out part two all together, gone straight from “Ed Bishop from UFO gets infected” to “hunting unpenned dogs down, like a weird mix of Romero’s Dead movies, UNIT era Doctor Who, and the sheepdog trials”.

So is this series any good?  Yeah, I’d say so.  Storyline wise, it does betray it’s origins as an adaptation of an airport novel, especially in the “done with this shit” main character, dragged back in because he’s “the only man for the job”, but it’s still a very effective romp.  It has some good direction from Hammer Horror veteran Robert Young, they do make the BBC budget stretch well, it does have a fun climax, and I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the really creepy opening titles, set to a whispered All Creatures Great and Small.  It’s recently got a DVD rerelease from Simply Media (DVD trailer below), so it’s worth a look.  If you are fond of your pets though, may want to miss this one, as the sights of cute widdle kitties and doggies going through this may cause distress.

Airport Ballrooms | A Delayed Flight

so I don’t think I ever posted this there, and it reminded me that I need to post the rest of the chapters of LSS. but for those of you who haven’t come here from my ao3, here’s a little something I wrote back in January.

Summary: What happens when you hear a piano at 3 am?

She hears it before she sees anything. Right as she exits the washroom, a song’s beginning is heard from a piano. As it proceeds, she finds that it’s vaguely familiar.

Coming into the open area where she’s been sitting and trying to nap for the past three hours, she sees that the formerly vacant piano is now occupied by a man whose fingers are gliding across the keys, his dark hair slipping over his brow. He looks like he might be about her age, although she’s not sure.

He’s very concentrated on his playing, so he doesn’t notice when she stands off to his left, watching. He ends the piece softly and when he looks up, he sees her and jumps, putting a hand to his chest.

“Jesus Christ! …almost gave me a heart attack there,” he laughs.

She smiles. “Sorry. That was really nice,” she says, gesturing to the keys. “What was it?”

He shrugs. “Just some good old Chopin.”

She nods. “Sounds familiar.”

“Did you recognize it?” He asks. “It’s one of his most famous pieces.”

“Yeah, kinda sounded like a lullaby or something.” She scrunches her nose. “Never mind.”

He hums. “No, I get what you mean, it has that quality to it,” he says, getting up and pushing the bench in. “What’s your name?”

For some reason, it’s at that moment that she notices he has freckles, although not many. “Jane Hopper, but I go by El. I like your freckles,” she unashamedly comments, then cringes. Fuck.

They start moving toward the seats where she left her luggage, and she sees that there are a few more bags nearby that must be his.

“Really?” He answers. “I used to have a lot more when I was younger, it’s kind of a side effect of aging that you lose freckles.”

“They’re cute.” She looks at her feet. Again? Seriously?

“Alright,” he chuckles. “If you say so, El.”

It’s then she remembers she hasn’t asked his name.

“Michael Wheeler, but no one except my parents call me Michael. Mike’s easier,” he says, tilting his head. “Were you on that flight to Indianapolis? I think it’s the only one that got delayed this late.”

She sits back where she’s been this entire time, and he sits next to her. They’ve just met, but it’s nice not to have to sit in an empty airport terminal at three in the morning by herself, chasing sleep she knows she’s not going to find. “Yeah, I’m going home. I was in Vegas at a speech pathology conference."

Mike grins. “Vegas, huh? What’s it like, hit up any casinos?”

El lays her head back. “I was there for work, so no. I guess I could have, some of my coworkers did, but casinos aren’t really my scene. Too loud,” she responds. “My friend Dustin definitely did, he’s still there,” she adds with a smile.

“He sounds like fun.”

“Definitely is, though sometimes he can be a bit of a handful,” she laughs. “How about you? Going home too?”

Mike nods. “Yup. I was in LA visiting my cousin, but also working. I’m a piano teacher,” he says, wiggling his fingers. “And there’s been a new initiative here in the States, to get some sort of standardized way of teaching, like the Royal Conservatory in Canada. So there’s been collaboration happening, stuff might be in the works.”

She turns to look at him, taking in the excited way he says this. “You seem really happy about that,” she remarks.

He nods again excitedly, his mop of hair flopping over his eyes. “Absolutely! It would make things easier if every teacher across the country had a certain level of things to teach students. Be easier for students too, especially if they ever have to switch teachers.” Suddenly he blows air upwards. “I need to cut this shit,” Mike says, gesturing to the dark locks surrounding his face.

El contemplates him for a second, taking in how he looks. “Nah, it looks good with your face.” GOD, EL! Stop being so forward, you just met him! “I think so, at least, if my opinion counts for anything,” she says, suddenly shy.

It’s weird, she thinks, that she just met this guy less than ten minutes ago and they’re already talking so easily.

He smiles. “It does,” he says, taking out his phone. He shows her what’s clearly a selfie, but it looks like there’s two of him. “That’s my cousin.” Mike points at the one who’s wearing a Guns N’ Roses shirt. “And this is me.” He’s wearing a simple striped t-shirt.

She looks more closely at the picture, trying to find some difference between them. “You guys look like twins!” She exclaims.

“We could be, if he wasn’t five years younger. We get that a lot though,” he answers. “I think you’re going to agree with me on this.” He continues. “He says he’s more attractive, but I say we look the same and therefore have the same appeal. What do you think? As an outside party.”

El looks at it again, and finds that she disagrees with Mike. “I think you’re cuter. Something about you,” she replies.

She looks up to find that a lovely pink blush is spreading across his cheeks. “Something I said?” She winks. Oh my god you fucking idiot. She suddenly feels crushed by the weight of her mortification.

He makes a strangled noise, and the hour and her tired brain must be getting to her, because somehow she finds it the funniest sound she’s ever heard. It’s also a little comforting that he doesn’t seem completely put off.

“Damn, that was smooth!” He says, starting to laugh too. “I gotta tell him you said that.”

“Isn’t he sleeping by now?”

He shakes his head. “No, he says sleep is for the weak. And it’s only two in Cali, and it’s the weekend.”

She reads over his shoulder as he types.

Mike blushes again. “Yeah, pretty. Really pretty,” he says softly. He gets a text almost instantly.

Mike looks at her. “Is it okay if we make a video and send it to him so he believes me?”

She shrugs. “We’ve still got at least four hours to kill, so why not?”

He pulls up the camera and starts recording. “Fine, you don’t believe me, here she is herself,” he says, turning the camera on her.

She waves awkwardly. “Hey… um, what’s his name?” Cringe.

“Richie.”

“Hey, Richie, just a little video to say that in my opinion your cousin’s cuter than you. And no, he didn’t pay me to say that,” she states, glancing off camera with a small smile.

Mike turns the camera back to him. “There you go, asshole. Video proof.”

He sends it, and they wait a minute in anticipatory silence before Mike’s phone vibrates with another text.

Mike heaves an over-exaggerated sigh, shaking his head. You’re a dick, he types, go to sleep I’ll text when I get home.

SLEEP IS FOR THE WEAK, MICHAEL.

GO THE FUCK TO SLEEP, RICHARD. YOU HAVE WORK TOMORROW.

Mike stares at his phone for a second before turning it off. “If I keep talking to him then he’ll never actually go to sleep.”

El smiles at him. “He seems like a fun person.”

“Oh, he’s an absolute dick. But I love him,” Mike says, shaking his head again. “We weren’t really close as kids but then he moved nearby and we talked more, except then I went to college. He’s closer with my little sister.”

She nods. “Do you have any siblings?” He asks.

“Nope. Just me and my dad.”

“That’s nice. Sometimes I wish there had been less people in my house, would’ve meant less embarrassment in certain situations,” he says. “I have two sisters, one older, one younger.”

“I wish I’d had a sister growing up, would’ve made things easier sometimes,” she answers. “Can you even imagine how awkward my dad was the first time I got my period?”

He doesn’t say anything for a second, and she thinks maybe she shouldn’t have said that. OH MY FUCK.

“Sorry, that was awkward,” she laughs. WHAT THE EVERLOVING FUCK.

“No, it’s fine, just unexpected is all,” he says. “I mean, we’ve only known each other for like fifteen minutes.”

They look at each other, the same thought going through their minds. “This is weird,” they say together, and then they start giggling.

“I just-” He takes a breath. “Do you feel like you know me from somewhere? Because I feel like I know you but I don’t think I’ve ever met you before.”

It’s what she’s been thinking. She feels a sort of familiarity with him, something she’s never felt so quickly with anyone else. It’s like she’s known him for a long time, or maybe in another life or universe.

She grins. “Isn’t there a multiverse theory?”

After spending an hour discussing parallel universes and the physics involved in understanding any of it (which they both have enough of a basic grasp on because of watching too much History Channel), Mike is sitting at the piano again, El having asked him to play something else. She doesn’t recognize the beginning, but as it progresses she realizes she does know it. It gets her moving, and she doesn’t really know what she’s doing, but she’s circling the piano and the man playing it in a way that somehow fits with the music. She even sings along with the main melody and the trills.

She feels like he’s transforming the place into a gigantic ballroom with his music, and she’s the princess dancing with her prince (except there’s no prince to dance with, because he’s too busy making the music). It’s a stupid thing to think, but she never had dolls or was allowed to watch princess movies or read fairytales when she was a kid, and she feels like she missed out. Hopper let her watch movies and read, but it wasn’t the same as a teen as it would’ve been as a kid. And maybe it’s just a dumb fantasy, a creation of her mind because she’s tired and suddenly thinking about her horrifying childhood, but she thinks the imaginary ballroom that only has her and Mike in it is a wonderful place to be.

He ends the piece with a theatrical flourish, throwing his hands up off the keys as soon as the last notes are played. “How was that? You were dancing!”

A laugh escapes her lips as she claps. “It was amazing! I knew that one, it’s from the Nutcracker, right?”

Mike nods vigorously. “Gotta love me some Tchaikovsky.”

“Is that why it’s so dancey? Because it’s for a ballet?” She asks, curious.

“No, it’s because it’s a waltz,” he answers, stretching his arms up above his head. His sweater rides up to reveal a sliver of pale skin, and she finds herself staring without being able to tear her eyes away. “Waltzes are inherently dancey, I think. At least that’s what I always tell my students who play them, it helps them really hear the tempo and accents if they try to see the dancers.”

She averts her gaze, and he’s still talking. “You know, ‘cause waltzes have the accent on count one, so it goes one-two-three, and sometimes when you’re caught up in playing you forget about it so it’s good to try and envision the dancing. The music was written for dancing after all,” he finishes. “El? Sorry, was I rambling, because I have a tendency to-”

“No,” she breathes. “You’re just really attractive. The piano suits you.” She almost face palms. WHY am I like this????

That shuts him up, a redness spreading across his face once again (but this time along with a wide grin). He might just combust if he looks at her, so he looks at his hands instead.

“Sorry,” she says, worried she’s crossed a line she wasn’t supposed to yet.

Mike’s head whips up. “Sorry? What are you sorry for?”

“I’m too forward. It almost always ruins things with guys.” She deflates almost imperceptibly, and she wonders if he noticed.

Apparently he did, because El feels herself pulled into a sideways hug, tugged down to sit on the bench next to him. “Hey,” he says softly. “You’re just saying what you think is true, which is a great quality to have. You saved me from my own rambling, so thanks.” He gives her a squeeze and adds, “It hasn’t ruined things with me.”

Suddenly the air is charged and she thinks that if they weren’t in an airport she might have kissed him then. Sadly, they are in an airport. Instead, she requests that he play something more contemporary than Chopin or Tchaikovsky, and he starts up with a rendition of Halo by Beyoncé.

They spend another hour around the piano, him playing more and she observing. El thinks he plays with a lot of grace, his fingers moving deftly across the keys almost as though he’s stroking the instrument. He looks like he belongs in front of a piano, making beautiful music for all the world to hear. In this case the world is a strange woman in an airport at the asscrack of dawn.

It’s five in the morning when the pair crashes back onto the seats next to their bags, and they lean their heads on each other and fall asleep. However, it seems things are only in increments of one hour on this night, because it’s six when El awakes with a start, knocking Mike’s head off of hers.

“Attention passengers: flight 337 to Indianapolis International is now scheduled for take-off at eight thirty. Boarding will begin at gate twenty-three one hour in advance.”

“Hey,” she says, seeing Mike next to her looking disoriented. “Flight’s at eight thirty but we gotta be there at seven thirty, do you wanna get some breakfast?”

Looking around, she sees that the open area that was so empty during the night now has other people milling through it, and it shatters the warm space she’d felt she and Mike were in. It’s time to go back to the real world, away from the fantasies of ballrooms and princes and dancing. The magic of the night has been erased by the movement of the morning and she hopes what she thinks she felt between them hasn’t been erased too.

He yawns. “I’ll take that as a yes,” she says, getting up to stretch and grabbing her bags.

They walk around the slowly filling terminal, looking for a place to eat, and light upon a cute coffee place in the food court. They order and eat in silence, avoiding looking at each other, until he speaks.

“Does last night… feel like it was a dream, to you?” Mike asks.

I thought that was just me. She takes a sip of her black coffee. “It kind of does, yeah. This entire encounter has been weird.”

He looks down at his croissant, crinkling his nose, then peeks back at her through his lashes. “I’m sorry.”

“Nothing to be sorry for.”

He says nothing else, and neither does she, so they head off to gate twenty three, and she thinks something’s wrong because he wasn’t this quiet or awkward last night. The tension is palpable, but she’s never been very good at social interactions and she doesn’t know what to say. He probably realized how dumb I am. She thinks she may have come across as very brazen (which she is, but she hates it for how it ruins everything all the time). Mike hadn’t seemed bothered by her earlier, and she had hoped that something good might have come out of their chance meeting.

It seems it was not to be, however, because the only thing he does as they board the plane is wave and give a little half smile when he finds his seat. El sighs and settles in for the hour and a half flight. She’s decided she’s going to try to catch up on the sleep she missed instead of sitting in abject misery, and it works because she’s blinking confusedly when a flight attendant wakes her to say that they will be landing in approximately forty minutes.

She’s excited to be back home, to work, her patients, her dad and Max. But she’s also the teeniest bit sad because she wants to explore that special connection she feels with Mike, to see what it means and what it’s about and she believes she’s ruined her chances (okay, so maybe she’s more than a teeny bit sad). She’s convinced herself that nothing was ever going to happen, she had imagined the unexplainable thing she felt between them.

She makes it through baggage claim and isn’t sent to customs, so El’s on her way out of the terminal to catch a taxi because both Max and Hopper are working today when something does happen. Out of the corner of her eye, she sees a person running out of the passenger exit, and she thinks that they must have seen a loved one they missed.

That is, until she hears the shout. “El!”

It’s Mike of course, and he comes to a skidding halt in front of her, breathless. “I just- ran- all the way here- because- I’m a dumbass-”

“Whoa, hey, breathe,” she says, “I don’t need you dying on me in the middle of the airport.”

He nods and waits until his breathing levels out before straightening up. “I wanted to apologize for being so stupid and awkward this morning, I don’t know what got into me.” He swallows before looking at her directly. “I really want to see you again, so… do you wanna go out sometime?”

WHAT! She doesn’t respond for a few moments, shocked. But then she grins and says, “Are you asking me on a date?”

He sucks in a breath, about to shake his head, she can tell, but then he stops. “You know what, fuck it. Yes, I am.”

“Well, I’d certainly like that.”

El leaves the airport with Mike’s number in her phone, and she’s only been in the taxi for a few minutes when it pings with a text.

Can you do tonight at 7?

He’s eager, and she likes that she’s not the only one. It assures her she’s not being some creepy, obsessive, stalker.
