the university has ratified the decision to eventually demolish this building, Melrose Hall, constructed 1946-1948 to accommodate the surge of WW2 veterans who chose to cash in their GI Bill at UT. the building’s destruction is a part of the university’s “Master Plan,” a series of “near-future” infrastructure improvements to campus, and while there are countless things that need to be renovated and reorganized, they’re, of course, going about it in the worst way possible. in addition to demolishing Melrose, they’re also knocking down one of the other oldest structures on campus, Dunford Hall, built 1963. they seem determined to abolish all of our most well-constructed and beautiful establishments, and while i’m not dogmatically opposed to doing away with architecture by virtue of it being antique, they’ve proved already that their replacements are pale facsimiles of proper academic institutions. in the case of Dunford, which currently houses the History Department, it’s slated to be replaced with yet another school of business subsidiary. the war against the humanities isn’t just relegated to funding and incentives, it’s physical
one thing i really enjoy is when shows and movies use actual real life news broadcasters and interviewers when they need to do a news scene or a talk show scene or something bc 1) it adds and little bit of realism and authenticity to the show/film and 2) you just know said news broadcasters/interviewers probably had So much fun getting to report on fake news or interviewing fake celebrities like how often as an adult do you get to play pretend like that in your real job askdljfh

Hello my friends! I’m sure you’ve all noticed the unfortunate surge in porn bots in the Six tag. It really fucking sucks, but I’m here to remind you all to NOT flag it for “explicit material” but INSTEAD for “spam and/or bot,” because that’s what they are. When you see these posts, make sure to report as well as block, as this way we can help clear the tag more easily!
