haneul hadn't meant for this to go the way that it has.

this has been months in the making, truly. it started when he sent seojung a link to an announcement to a collection release he really wanted, and continued up until the week of the release with occasional whiny voice notes and voicemails about how hard it would be to get because of how popular the collaboration was. he knew it'd be next to impossible to get on the first release— by himself, anyway.

seojung was recruited, and the hours leading up to the drop consisted of haneul fretting over their phones and two laptops and a tablet to ensure he had the best chance at getting what he wanted. he knew seojung didn't really get it— didn't share the same passion for makeup that haneul had— but he sat on haneul's couch anyway and unnecessarily refreshed the shop page every two minutes when haneul got too antsy to just wait patiently. and haneul's grateful to be humored. it's why he asked him for help to begin with.

when the time comes, one of haneul's screens freezes. another refuses to display anything on the webpage. he manages to add what he wants to his cart on the third, but by the time he tries to check out, it's sold out. and haneul honestly thinks that's it— he's shit out of luck and he'll just have to hope and pray for a second release— until seojung voices a loud, "i got it."

it's all screaming from there ("you got it?" "i got it!" "holy fuck, you got it!"), including haneul's overenthusiastic: "oh my god, i could kiss you right now!"

which seojung responds with, "why don't you?"

and... haneul doesn't have an answer to that. part of his brain thinks (knows, even) that he's joking. because seojung always jokes like that. but the other part is looking at his friend's face and that look in his eyes and isn't so sure. the problem is that he's not sure which side to listen to, so he sits, staring at seojung like a deer caught in headlights. it's just— they've kissed before, right? they've shared a couple kisses between shots of alcohol and stumbling around seojung's living room and just before they fall asleep after fumbling into bed together. why would it be different this time?

so maybe that's why haneul leans in. their lips don't touch, but he stops when he's close enough to feel seojung's breath against his. if he's quiet enough, he thinks seojung might be able to hear his heart pounding. he stays— hands on either side of seojung's hips, weight leaning on his palms, barely a nudge necessary away from pressing their lips together.

"i will," he says quietly, "if you want me to."

freedom feels a bit terrifying. now three years past the worst night of his life, jiwon finds himself stuck in a precarious position. he’s caught somewhere between the gears, trapped at the crossroads where both paths fade into uncertainty. face up on the floor, jiwon’s phone lays expectantly with a text conversation left open, suspended. he’s read the last message so many times that he can see it burned into the back of his eyelids down to the last pixel. and yet—even as he, too, lies sprawled out on the floor—jiwon still glances at the screen to read it one more time.

he looks a mess, hair tied back in a sprout and cheeks ruddy with exertion. his chest rises and falls with deep, measured breaths, and his bare feet dip in and out of a pointe to stretch his sore muscles. sunlight creeps closer by the minute, drawn thin across the polished wood as if it were leaking through the windows. with his own music turned off, jiwon can hear the muffled beat of a pop song playing from the cosmetics shop across the street, along with a woman’s voice as she urges passersby to visit the store for free samples and special sales. she’s very convincing.

whining softly, jiwon turns onto his side and blindly paws around in search of whatever snack junso brought with him to the studio. you’re free, his friend had said, but jiwon feels just the opposite.

“what if i don’t make it? there’s going to be so many other people, with actual managers and experience... shit, i didn’t even graduate. will they even look at me? i wanna do it, i really do, but i’m just.. scared.”

Arts & Crafts Multi-Gem Brooch Attributed to Dorrie Nossiter

An exciting multi-gem antique brooch, attributed to the jewellery designer Dorrie Nossiter. She was an Arts and Crafts jewellery maker/designer known for her nature inspired jewellery. She was born in 1893 in Birmingham and attended the Municipal School of Art from 1910-1914. She studied drawing with a focus on drawing plant form and after this she and her family moved to Dorset where she was inspired by the colours and shapes in her garden. Nossiter then moved to London where she created most of her work.

This brooch is crafted in silver with small gold pommels, set with an array of colourful gemstones. The main event, a large 23.8 carat amethyst displaying an intense pink/purple with an open backed setting allowing the light to shine through the stone enhancing it's vibrancy. Surrounding the stone, a cluster of citrine, baby blue zircon and tourmaline. The colour combination of the stone are gorgeous, and it dates from the Art's & Crafts period. A fabulous attribution to Dorrie Nossiter herself.

jiwon is naturally affectionate, and those tendencies are increased ten-fold when it comes to his partner. he’s the type to surprise them with lunch, coordinate matching outfits, and remember all their favourite things. he especially craves any and all sorts of physical affection, from holding hands to kissing for hours. to jiwon, physical affection is the clearest, most tangible form of love, and jiwon loves to be loved. it’s enormously reassuring to receive, and he strives to help his partner feel the same by giving it out generously. his first serious relationship was a dumpster fire because of this. after that, jiwon never seriously dated anyone and stuck to spending his affections on his friends. he most definitely, platonically made out with his closest friends on occasion, odd as that may be. however, that’s not to say that he didn’t have nice dates at all. they just.. didn’t go anywhere, because jiwon wasn’t ready to take things any further. years passed like this, and then— a christmas miracle. 💛

jiwon is afraid he’ll succeed one day. he already went through with it once. he wrote a whole letter and everything. he was ready. but once everything started to fade, panic and survival instincts kicked in, and he ruined it all. jiwon is afraid he’ll do it again, and he won’t be able to change his mind.
