Last Line Tag Game

Having been tagged by everyone under the sun (@five-and-dimes, @amielot @tj-dragonblade @lenreli @im-not-corrupted are the ones I can see, I'm sorry if I missed anyone else!), I present to you all, more of the same WIP, my omegaverse forced marriage fic which is now over 8k words and only halfway done lmao.

“Look I’d rather we not fight before I leave,” Robert says. “I’m sorry we haven’t spoken much lately, I’ve just had a lot on my mind.”  “Leave?” Dream asks, ignoring the only apology he’s ever received from the alpha. “Where are you going?” he demands, grip tightening on his silverware. His meal suddenly tastes like ash in his mouth. “Ah, damn,” Robert curses. “I meant to—it doesn't matter. I've been called away to manage an overseas contract. I'll be gone for a while,” he answers, resigned, as if this is something he cannot help. But Dream knows better. Ever since their marriage, Robert has been the golden child of his parents’ business again, which means the alpha was offered this job. Had willingly accepted it. All to get away from Dream.  “How long is a while?” Dream nearly shrieks, his voice pitching higher and higher as Robert’s words sink in. “Were you planning to even say goodbye, or was I supposed to learn of your departure from the staff?” Robert snorts, and Dream wants to throw his knife and fork at him.  “Does it matter?” the alpha asks with a hint of a sneer in his tone. “You hardly notice I'm here, and you spend all your time in your wing of the house.” “Because you never bother to seek me out in the first place!” Dream growls. He’s angry now. Livid even. He doesn’t know why. Robert leaving should be a blessing. Dream would have the house to himself, could decorate as he pleases, would not have to walk on eggshells to hide his pregnancy. But somehow, the thought of the house being truly empty, devoid even of its owner, rankles something in Dream and makes him feel as though he is being abandoned.

6. Does this chapter/fic have any twists that you’re proud of?

Not necessarily twists, but I have some really fun additions coming to the spilled ink verse that are going to shed some light on so many things I only glossed over. Like who did Dream's tattoos, what his relationship is like with his family, the first time he drew Hob before they started dating, if he actually didn't hear it the first time Hob said hello, what Dream was thinking during the whole power exchange/alley blow job scene, etc, etc. It'll basically be a mini-series encased into one fic of all the snippets and missing scenes I've been wanting to write from Dream's POV.

As he sat down, Finn was drinking from his cup, still watching Hob intently from over the rim. Hob smiled at him as reassuringly as he could, and said, "That's good, sweetheart. That's perfect. Dream, would you like... coffee, or tea or anything?"  Dream's lips parted--Hob could see the polite but inevitable no, thank you, I do not need such things forming on his lips--and then he glanced down toward Finn.  Finn was no longer drinking from his cup, but was still holding it near his mouth, and was watching Dream intently.  "Thank you," Dream said. "I would like a cup of milk, please, and perhaps some bread?"  "Yes, of course," Hob said immediately, catching the notion that Dream wanted to model proper accepting-offered-food behavior for Finn, and sternly shushing the part of him that was all but dancing a jig at finally getting Dream to accept anything from him. 

Now that I'm all done with smol!Dream, time to radically change gears and work on the fic where... Hob and Dream are parenting Finn! Look, you can tell this one is different because there is no cheese on toast!

“Who the fuck kidnaps a pregnant lady?” Matthew exclaims. Dream slants a look at him, and Matthew amends, “Uh, I mean, a pregnant dude.” Hob’s pretty sure that wasn’t the part of the statement Dream objected to and that calling Ye Olde Lord of Dreams dude might actually be worse. “Does that make it worse or better?” Matthew wonders. “Their fate was sealed the moment they threatened my child,” Dream says, ominous as a storm front. “Now their minds belong to the Dreaming, where they will be fed upon by nightmares bearing the faces of their most deeply held fears. For eternity.” “Definitely don’t kidnap pregnant ladies,” Matthew mutters.
