Oc deities and primordial beings

I don't talk about my other stuff like, actual original stories I have I usually use this account to tell about Lmk stiff since I'm hype on the train because I have a deep affection for Journey to the West. But anyhow. I actually want to talk about this if you guys don't mind. I love rambling.

The first one is call Duna he is everything and he is nothing. He is the primordial universe, a storyteller who gets bored if nothing interesting happens so they create variety of ancient deities that tell stories. But ancient deities is more of a metaphor for artists, creators, musicians, poets all that fun and artistic stuff.

Duna created Paeonia, a creator deity that loves nothing more than to make life itself. It considered the youngest deities out of all, until Duna gets bored again. Paeonia created Pandemonium a strange blob that has a nasty case of taking people faces and being a little shit. Basically a cat. It not a god it a entity, a being that is basically thoughts and chaos which is not a good combination. It an entity of unforseen knowledge someone who knows the secrets of everything while also hoarding them.

Paeonia and Pandemonium are basically friends though even after the face stealing bit. Then there Nox the entity of the skies, darkness and threads, it basically a entity that can mess your life up with just one pull of it cloak. It was supposed to be a ruler of the sun and moon with the stars as well but Pandemonium likes to do a bit of shuffling things around and makes them to control the destiny of anything living aside from themselves. It also because Pandemonium took Nox face and crafted a robe to cover the naked skies and apologized later on. So they are in neutral terms.

Pandemonium and Nox are mostly talk about because they are not the ones hiding themselves from the public eye, that Paeonia. Paeonia created humanity, gods and living beings, they are the pinicle of creations. They keep to themselves and avoid being spotted and written on by normal beings, unless your a entity, god or a child of a god you will know of Paeonia existence. But other than that Paeonia has a way of hiding itself and just creates and creates, not wishing to be acknowledge by even the human eye.

Remember the Ludo Mentis Campaign? :D We have started season 2! With new characters, and little nods to the events of the first campaign, 100 years after! Our new group is me, an armor-obsessed gnome artificer ; Vermeille, a half dragon half eladrin druid (mostly), Igueul our half-elf bard that keeps getting hit in the back, Aronvir your local dwarf ranger with a bear (bear not allowed in town), and our thief Revius will join us when he can! :) (sending lots of love to his player!) So our group suffers from administrative shenanigans that left them in dept, trying to scramble to get enough money to pay rent! During our adventures, we met Nox, a mysterious young man looking for a holy shield stollen from his home... So remember the child we helped deliver in the old campaign??? :D Yeah, SOMEONE left home without warning the saint or his father the gold dragon! TO LOOK FOR NARA'S SHIELD THAT GOT STOLLEN from the familial hoard! An on the way to finding the shield, we got to find a new camp of druids, run by Syldor and Ikaros! They had a daughter together!! :DDD ...And then we got our asses handed to us rather violently. XD Bonus DM reaction!

This is my dutchy, Nox! They're my baby, and will likely often be seen on my blog :D Nox is a sleepy boy, who lives in a magical realm. Where they have settled within a cloud with a hoard of blankets and pillows where they sleep most of the day. They live within a dream land, where they moderate over the dream realm itself (I imagine it a lot like a gmod admin where they're floating around and responding to reports). Nox wants nothing more then to be taking the best nap within a thunderstorm, cuddled up within their cozy hoard.

Taking a look at the animal crossing pic to see a list of characters, which you did well on, may I hear more about Pendara, BD, Megaera, and Azure please?

Alright:

Pendara/BD (They’re the same dragon)

She is the protagonist of the story. She started out seemingly a normal human but the events that lead to her transformation to the white and black dragon form change her whole understanding of reality. She eventually is found by a dragon from the Hidden Kingdom and they travel there together where she meets her friends (the ones in the asks so far).

Over time while there she learns to be a dragon and starts to think she finally understands who and what she is…only to be shown again this is wrong when she meets Nox, a mysterious but charming semi-aquatic dragon who teaches her the secrets of her true nature as a Spirit Dragon. This leads to her developing her nickname, Black Dragon or BD, which she uses when assuming this form. (And yes, other dragons find it amusing in the making fun of it way…but she mainly goes by BD for it in Spirit form)

Personality-wise, Pendara is shy and introverted, but when she feels comfortable around someone she is more talkative and full of questions or information. However she can also be too analytical and overthink things, and when betrayed she has a hard time giving that person another chance.

Megaera

Megaera is older than she looks. She is an ancient dragon and one of those that gave dragons the reputation they have as gold-hoarding, kingdom conquering monsters that were popular when I was young.

Megaera actually was once the most infamous dragon in the world, but her arrogance cost her in an encounter with a powerful witch. This resulted in Megaera being captured and imprisoned by the witch, bound by metal cuffs and chains that blocked her power. However, eventually Arkelm the Golden rescued her and they escaped together. However, Megaera still had one cuff on her left foreleg and she was set on revenge against the witch.

Arkelm warned her against it, but she ignored him and attacked the fortress. She destroyed it and killed the witch inside, but was unable to find a way to remove the cuff around her wrist. She didn’t let it stop her and tried to continue to grow her reputation as the most feared and respected (through fear and awe) creature on the planet.

Eventually she meets her match again, though, as she learns the cuff blocking her power also hurts her when she goes past the invisible line. Arkelm rescued her again, then nursed her back to health. Afterward, he gave her an offer he had given before…this time she took it. They traveled together for many years after that until they came to the Hidden Kingdom. There Megaera was united with her father who went by the title and name of King Blackthorn.

Now Megaera is acknowledged as the heir to the throne, but after her history she feels she is unworthy of it and hopes her father remains king for centuries more.

Personality-wise Megaera is boastful and outspoken, but not unkind in the present. In the past she was cruel and unpleasant, but now her old ways come out mostly in her temper and when she loses patience with her friends (Calixthzan especially). In other words she is prickly but past her shell she is loyal and cares for her friends. She also holds a deep respect for Arkelm after their years together as traveling companions. When Pendara arrived, Megaera was one of those less trusting of her as well.

Design information: Megaera and Blackthorn have a unique quality to their scales. The parts that are colored are only that way in light. The stronger or brighter the light source, the more vivid the colors. In darkness the body is completely black, save for the gold claws and teeth.

Azure

Azure…I haven’t developed much. He’s a Snake dragon in the Python family, which means he has snake-like tendencies such as sun bathing and swallowing his meals whole. He spends a lot of his time laying around soaking up sun, possibly because like most snakes he cannot regulate his own body temperature and needs to sun bathe to digest. If this is true or not, I haven’t decided.

Personality-wise, Azure is laid back and doesn’t care for conflict much. He seems to be closest to Frjord of the main group as well, since they tend to hang out a lot due to Frjord’s unusual liking for heat and sun despite being a colder climate dragon.

Chapter 1 Part 2 - Phoebe Bruit

As Kit explored the school, new and old students began the annual walk up to the castle Cantarix Academy was situated in, passing through the surrounding town of Runesen, a flood of people passed through the town, flowing like a river up towards the castle. A taller girl practically stood above some of the crowd, avoiding other’s gazes and well.. Others in general. A difficult task in such a crowd.

Phoebe Bruit was another first year student, an anxious sort at that. Being around this many people at once felt like a death sentence, or torture, but she pressed on. Noticing an alleyway, an alternate route through the town, Phoebe took her chance and slipped away. Breathing a sigh of relief as she was finally out of that crowd. 

She was, by all means, not supposed to deviate from the path, but she honestly didn't care. Whoever thought it’d be a good idea to funnel all of the students from all over Kairos into one street deserved to rot in the underworld.

Speaking of.

“Oh, you can come out now.” Phoebe spoke softly, from behind her, within her shadow, or underneath her hair, small shadowy creatures popped up. These were her specters, her familiars, and the only friends she’d ever need.

The currently summoned trio took their positions all over Phoebe. Nox, the ever confident one sat proudly atop the girl’s head, Gloom perched carefully on Phoebe’s shoulder, slightly hidden by her hair, and Shroud decided to sit on the top of her bag.

Looking around, Phoebe decided Runesen would be relatively easy to navigate. It was a small town, after all, and Cantarix simply loomed over it. A simply spotted landmark. 

As she was about to take her first steps, a gust of wind nearly knocked her on her feet. Catching a view of the sky, she spotted a pair of massive leathery wings, a reptilian beast with a carriage car held within its talons.

“What kind of insanely rich person had a dragon fly them here?!” Phoebe exclaimed. She could only imagine, Cantarix was the most prodigious school anyone could attend, magical aptitude or not. It made sense countless nobles would send their spoiled rotten children here.

“That’s worth investigating.” Phoebe noted, “Well, we’ll have to catch up, then.”

She wasn't athletic by any means, but she quickly took off towards the school. As someone who hoarded secrets and mysteries, the identity of the student who arrived by dragon had to be known to her.

Nox observed the large gemstone resting in its display case. Such a large natural stone all but begged for them to take it. They had no intentions of stealing from a museum, but it would look so nice in their hoard.

They needed a distraction.

Thankfully, Nox noticed a woman next to them reading a pamphlet on the gem. Nox being the lapidarist they are knew more than a simple pamphlet. The dragon decided to strike up conversation.

“That little pamphlet is not going to tell you much of interest. They don’t even specify where it was extracted, only the country. This particular sample is from the Anti-Taurus mountains in Southern Türkiye. It is entirely uncut so to some it may simply look like a chunk of stone with crystal protrusions, when actually it is what most every gem looks like before it is refined into the common shapes we find so appealing.” 

The dragon continued to explain the details of the gem for several more minutes. They did not care whether anyone was listening or not they simply needed to distract themself and this human was the closest person who wasn’t glued to a phone or camera.

Death does not take gods into it’s rest.

A god falls forever but the abyss is not empty.

Entropy, infernal growth, eternal mouth, rises up to meet the corpse’s still-beating heart.

A god does not die.

A god is devoured.

But.

The Humans saw their creature die. And they worshipped it for dying and as dying.

Gods do not die. Yet this one dies, as the words of worship make it so. Yet it lives, as the power of worship makes it so. The Undying God screams. The Carrion Lord rots, yet the Immortal Emperor grows in power.

The Undying God screams……and is heard.

It starts in the Throne room but gradually spreads throughout the Palace. Why should they fear or hate it? The words of their Lord are met with joy. Their changing bodies accepted with honour.

(What if the presence of the Emperor's Death had...side effects? Soul-bound to Him as they are, surely his Dearest Companions would change with Him...)

Tips for Writing Character Descriptions

(Starring Shaw, an OC from Constellations as he is a bastard and I love him) Let's start with a very boring description as a baseline.

'He looked more like a vampire than most of his kind. His skin was unnaturally pale and his eyes all black. His bald head had metal plates riveted into it. His throat was in a collar with wires that burrowed into his skin. His grin showed a lot of sharp teeth. His gauntlets were tipped with long claws.'

Oof, that's boring. The list-like sentence structure has already put me half to sleep. Sounds like you've described a Halloween prop instead of a character, Shaw sounds very lifeless.

1. Remove pronouns You have just introduced your character. The next paragraph is the description and that is why it is a separate paragraph, the Reader will still be able to follow when the paragraph after that is back to the narrative. The Reader does not need constant pronouns to remind them who is being described.

'Looked more like a vampire than most of his kind. Skin was unnaturally pale and eyes all black. Bald head had metal plates riveted into it. Throat was in a collar with wires that burrowed into his skin. Grin showed a lot of sharp teeth. Gauntlets were tipped with long claws.'

Even though some of your sentences don't make sense any more, it's still more exciting to read, isn't it? Your eyes are enjoying all those different capital letters.

2. Change your sentence layout Since we're going with minimal pronoun usage, sentences will need to change to make sense. But let's go a little further and switch some of them around.

'Looked more like a vampire than most of his kind. Skin unnaturally pale and eyes all black. Metal plates riveted into his bald head. Throat was in a collar with wires that burrowed into his skin. Sharp teeth showed in a grin. Gauntlets were tipped with long claws.'

Oh yes, much better. However, he still sounds like he's just standing there. Well, maybe he is, but he can't be completely lifeless.

3. Tie in some actions Animate your character. What are they doing while being described? Think about your setting but also what sort of person they are. Or maybe they really aren't doing anything. So, describe the setting, the light, the atmosphere.

'Looked more like a vampire than most of his kind. Skin unnaturally pale and eyes all black. Dim lighting played over metal plates riveted into his bald head. Throat was in a collar with wires that burrowed into his skin. Sharp teeth showed in a grin. Gauntlets tipped with long claws flexed lazily on the armrests of the throne.'

Looking good! In all honesty you could stop there, but maybe it just needs an extra touch of something to finish off and make him truly memorable.

4. Abstract imagery Similes and metaphors! Yes, doing these last, now that we a have a feel for the character. And let's keep away from 'x like a' and 'x was a' wording. Not just similes and metaphors though, let's change up some of our words and actions. Choose words and imagery that make the Reader feel how they should feel about this character. E.g. don't tell me someone is shifty, tell me their words are slippery and that they never meet my gaze for more than a second.

'Looked more like a vampire than most of his grotesque kind. Corpse-white skin around pitted eyes that gleamed like tar in the dim light. That same light played over metal plates riveted into his naked scalp. Throat clasped in a collar with maggot wires that wormed darkly into his skin. Sharp teeth flashed in a crocodilian grin. Gauntlets tipped with long claws flexed lazily on the armrests of the throne.'

Now this is great! In this one short description you've not only described Shaw in an exciting, interesting and fun-to-read way, but put him in the setting and introduced his personality.

Now the Reader knows what Shaw looks like, but also that his collar is hurting him(maggot wires/wormed darkly), he's laid-back and considers his high position secure while being willing to defend it with force(long claws flexed lazily) and that he uses deception and sudden overwhelming violence to get what he wants(crocodilian grin).

Now he sounds like a memorable character!
