CONCLOOSIONS

I have written a lot of NU:Carnival fanfic holy shit this took longer than I thought it would take when I had the procrastinative idea

The Mark of the Fox is upon 18 of my fics. I have written 35, so that makes for more than 50%. But he only actually appears in 01.

Kuya/Karu is extremely canon to anything I write.

I have a lot of fun having Eiden use Kuya as a touchstone for all things kinky.

I need to actually write more kuyaru!!! Which reminds me: Kuyaru Week plug boom

(Bonus bit: there will be Kuya mentions in my Rei zine fic lol. And for the July exchange, I'm actually going to write Kuya/Quincy/GaruKaru! In addition to whatever I do for Kuyaru week, the number of actual kuyafics by Phaerlax will grow... not that the bastard needs any more representation on ao3, but oh well. The kink it calls to me)

Thoughts on Nu:C Chapter 13:

WOÒOOOOOO GARU/KARU FOCUS CHAPTER

Ever since Misty Vale, I've been thinking about what happened to these two and damn! This chapter was feast for me and everyone who loves the pups!

Alright, let's start with the group, which finally has the name "Council of Sorcery". Ever since Gambler's Paradise, we've been getting glimpses of a group working in the shadows, now we can't really say that the Council and this group that created Leroy are one and the same, though I do like to headcanon that they are.

While I do wish we had a sprite for Kolt, his personality and connection with Garu/Karu is definitely making me interested in him. Also, I wonder if this group has possible connections with Rin or if Rin just doing his own shit. If he is working with this group, then I am VERY concerned for Morvay then.

Another thing I would like to talk about would be Garu/Karu's Gemstone, I initially believe that he was perhaps born/given multiple gems but that was definitely not the case. It seems that his gemstone was literally broken into several of pieces and that, just makes me sad of what sort of pain he went through as an experiment of the Council. Someone give him a hug and lots of food-

Rei having being apart of the Council I expected way back when chapter 12 came out, but I didn't expect him to recognize Garu/Karu as well. It's obvious that he's protective of of him and perhaps feels guilty as well, not sure if Rei himself participated in the experiments conducted on Garu/Karu or just stood at the sidelines instead (preferring the later option). Do you think Rei was the one that set Garu/Karu free from Council's clutches? Holding that headcanon tight to my heart.

Finally...Did anyone else misread Rei's real name as "Jolteon" instead of "Joleon"?

ooooh these were hard to choose, the recency bias was strong and then i looked through and remembered all the ones i've loved in the past 😭 all the designs are so fun!

in no particular order:

rusted nation rei. this man. i may have seen a leak about him before the event dropped and i was feral from then on. i love that they leaned hard into the mad scientist vibes, i love the glass heart that we never got context for (but i may be writing a thing about), and the glasses are such ness bait i am obsessed with him

aqua bloom oli was my first love, this was the first event i played and olivine was my original favorite and i rushed a cosplay of this outfit in like a month. i still don't know what's going on with all the fabric and straps around his waist but i support him

MORVAY....... i was never too interested in him and then this event hit and. while i did not finish reading the event bc it hit my squicks real hard i still adore this design. he looks like such a delinquent and i love that for him

every blade sparks joy but maid blade in particular just gets me. i think he should wear more dresses in future events he deserves it

if i had to choose one quincy. maybe it is the recency bias but i love his undercut he just looks so wild and edgy which is a great contrast to how much of a teddy bear i envision him to be 🧸

i also have some honorable mentions that i won't ramble on about but i just 🫶🫶🫶

Finally read all of Rei’s truth seeker card and I’m just 🥺🥹

Eiden is such a sweetheart to Rei. Rei being shown affection I think it’s slowly melting his icy exterior.

See, this is why I actually like the events in Nu:C. Unlike Obey Me, Ikepri, or FGO, the events seems to be happening in some strange sense of time. We are watching the characters grow throughout them. The events will often reference one another. They may even contain hints to what's happening within the plot of the game, yet I never feel like I missed something super important if I happen to miss an event since the game will still fill in the blanks.

We get to see how Rei is changing through the events, even though he's only been around for about 2 chapters so far. We are learning about the characters outside of the plot and it feels so good. I love how Nu: C balances itself.
