Kamikaze - WALK THE MOON

Ok. I love this song on Kell's playlist for a LOT of reasons.

Starting with the sound. It starts with this pop-y dreaminess to it; which fits with Kell's general sound aesthetic imo. The synths start with this WHINE, but still sound far away and soft instead of raw. Which in my opinion, defines Kell's general feel as well. Not only is Kell a Dreamer of sorts; their presence FEELS dreamlike, ethereal and cosmic. They feel larger than life, too good to be true.

Then the somg truly starts, the bass comes in and it feels Grounded. Kell has heft and weight to them. Despite the dreaminess of their presence there's Weight there, showing that they ARE REAL.

Ok let's talk lyrics (I'll point out the main ones cuz otherwise we'll be here ALL DAY):

While I slip into the great divide

So, for me this song really describes Kell's state in bl2, but the reason its not on their bl2 playlist is because I don't feel that it fits the MOOD. It's very pop-y and lighthearted and Kell is ANYTHING BUT lighthearted at that time. Since the bl2 vault hunters essentially keep Kell from dying in their escape from Helios, they bond with they very closely. Despite this, Kell pushes themself to the limit. They are banking on dying. They "know" they're going to die; their body is fucked up, they cough up blood, they can barely breathe but they still push on. Despite knowing them briefly Kell wants to last as long as possible (though they know it will be short) with the bl2 vault hunters.

Kell is willing to sacrifice everything for their family, Pandora and their friends. They are ready to go down swinging and to be honest always has been ready for that reality.

I think the pop feel of the song and the lighthearted sound solidifies Kell's personality as someone who has ALWAYS been reckless with their own life. Its one thing to be heroic. Its another to essentially be suicidal but in a way that APPEARS HEROIC.

| 🌱 | Vash had nodded off at some point, mostly unworried about people because Steamer trips were... usually not particularly lively. It helped he had people he could rely on, too, traveling with him. It was a rare thing, and Vash took advantage of a few moments to snooze.

The words were accompanied by an light emotional touch. Something soft and curious, and he knew as one eye peeked open who was beside him.

"Hmm.." Vash gave a little shrug and rubbed at his forehead. "Just a little snooze.. that's all."
