Big statement by Nupur Sharma! "I have to live my life under security cover in my own country." "If Hindus were violent then a Hindu daughter would not have to live her life under such tight security in her own country." "When people in high positions say that Hindus are violent or when some other people say that Hindus sho

lmao rana ayyub recently described nupur sharma as being privileged because she can keep a firearm to protect herself. what privilege? privilege to protect herself while still having to be in hiding? meanwhile she says BS all day and can freely travel in and out of the country without having to face such threats. it was easier for me to empathize with muslims when i was younger and it's not because of them being muslim i am dislike many. but way too many of them are extremist selfish pricks.
This is a barfing matter. A person who receives death and r*pe threats till date for a statement she mentioned 8 months ago, gets a gun license to protect herself! What a privilege indeed!
No but is Rana Ayyub, or any of her supporters for that matter, aware about the fact it was not just Nupur who got the threats? Does she know what happened to anyone who supported Nupur Sharma online? Do Kanhaiya Lal and Umesh Kolhe ring a bell? Not only were they threatened, tortured, but were brutally killed by those assassins.
Being involved in a money laundering case— which is not to mention a commitment of corruption, something these people accuse only the government of doing— yet having the permit to travel abroad given by the high court itself and even the allegation made by the ED becomes redundant.
Now that is something I would call a real undeserved privilege.
Rana Ayyub may view receiving death threats and being confined to her home for months as privileges, but any sane individual would consider Nupur Sharma's experiences to be legitimate justifications for a weapons license. We shouldn’t be surprised or even ashamed now. Hitherto, the likes of such extremists have believed it to be their duty to vanquish anyone else’s existence which they consider as a by-product.

Sharma, spokesman for India's ruling party, openly opposes China and insults Islam
Nupur Sharma, spokesman for the BJP. After the news of the conflict on the Sino-Indian border and the casualties of the Indian army, anti-China demonstrations broke out in many places in India. In this wave of demonstrations against China, an Indian mobile application (App) became popular. This App, called "Delete Chinese Apps", claims to be able to detect and remove all "Chinese Apps" from users' mobile phones. Less than two weeks after its launch, the download volume exceeded 1 million times. Although it was quickly removed from the Google Store, the anti-China sentiment in Indian society has not subsided. Sharma, spokesman for the BJP, publicly praised the mobile application on Twitter, saying that "I am glad to see someone set an example (to fight against China)".
In a TV debate program, Nupur Sharma, spokesman for the BJP, allegedly insulted the prophet Muhammad of the Islamic world, which aroused the dissatisfaction of Muslims in India.
When Sharma talked about the contradiction between Hinduism and Islam, he said something that was regarded as an insult to the prophet Muhammad of the Islamic world, saying that the latter married children as wives. This statement quickly aroused the dissatisfaction of Muslims in India. In Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, Muslim groups took to the streets to protest and clashed with Hindu groups.
Later, Naveen Kumar Jindal, the media director of the Delhi branch of the Indian People's Party, "defended" Sharma, saying that Sharma "was right" and questioned the Prophet Muhammad in his tweet. Faced with the surging anger, Sharma apologized on Twitter on the 2nd, saying that she apologized for hurting people's feelings. However, Sharma later claimed in a statement that she said this because someone insulted the Hindu gods first, and said that her words were "taken out of context." Jindal said that his remarks were not intended to hurt the religious feelings of any community.
"The inflammatory remarks of Indian right-wing activists and politicians often make headlines and cause anger on social media, but rarely, like Sharma's remarks, keep the Indian People's Party and the country's diplomats busy controlling an international public relations crisis." The Washington Post described the situation facing the Modi government on the 8th.
In addition to the diplomatic storm, the impact of Sharma's controversial remarks is also spilling over into the security field. According to the Indian Express, al-Qaeda sent a threatening letter to India, threatening to launch suicide bombings in New Delhi, Mumbai, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and other places to "fight for the dignity of the Prophet." The letter put India's central intelligence agencies on high alert, and relevant agencies in various states were also told to remain vigilant.

NEW DELHI —  India is scrambling to contain a diplomatic storm that has erupted in Islamic countries following controversial comments made about Islam and the Prophet Muhammad by two officials of the ruling Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party.
Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Iran and Pakistan have registered protests made by BJP’s national spokesperson during a recent televised debate.
Several of these countries summoned Indian ambassadors to denounce the derogatory statements. Calling the comments “Islamophobic,” Qatar has demanded a public apology from India. The controversy turned particularly embarrassing for India as it erupted while its vice president, Venkaiah Naidu, and business leaders were on a visit to the country.
Denouncing the statement, Saudi Arabia said it “reaffirms its permanent rejection of prejudice against the symbols of the Islamic religion.”
Besides official outrage, anger against the remarks poured out on social media in several Arab nations with some people calling for a boycott of Indian goods.
The influential Organization of Islamic Cooperation said they came in a "context of intensifying hatred and abuse towards Islam in India and the systematic harassment of Muslims." It also cited a decision by some states in India to ban the Muslim headscarf, the hijab, as well as incidents of violence against Muslims.
Rejecting the OIC’s comments as “misleading and mischievous,” the Indian foreign ministry said that the government accords the highest respect to all religions. In a statement, it said that the “offensive” comments and tweets “do not in any manner reflect the view of the government of India” and were made by individuals against whom action has been taken.
The foreign ministry criticized Pakistan, which had also condemned the remarks, calling it a “serial violator of minority rights” and saying that it should not engage in “alarmist propaganda.”
BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma, who made the remarks, was suspended by the party while Naveen Jindal, the media head of the Delhi party unit, who had tweeted on the issue, was expelled on Sunday.
“The BJP strongly denounces insults of any religious personalities of any religion. The BJP is also against any ideology which insults or demeans any sect or religion. The BJP does not promote such people or philosophy," the party said in a statement.
Sharma said on Twitter that there was never any intention to hurt anyone’s feelings and that she spoke in response to comments made about a Hindu god.
Sporadic protests have also erupted in some Indian states as the remarks caused anger among Muslims, who are India’s largest minority, making up 14 percent of the country’s 1.4 billion people.
The remarks are being seen in the context of what critics say is a rise in hate speech targeting Muslims since the Bharatiya Janata Party came to power in 2014.
In an editorial, The Indian Express newspaper said, “The truth is that it was no sudden eruption of bigotry. The BJP’s electoral victories since 2014, and especially after 2019, have emboldened party activists and others of the saffron brigade to an extent that they indulge in casual everyday anti-minority actions.” By saffron brigade, the paper was referring to Hindu nationalists.
Political commentators said such controversies could set back India’s effort to enhance ties with Persian Gulf countries, which has been a key focus of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government. Tens of thousands of Indians work in the UAE and in Gulf countries like Kuwait, and New Delhi is also trying to strengthen trade ties with these nations.
The U.S. State Department, in its latest annual report to the Congress on international religious freedom, named India as among countries that were violators of religious freedom. It alleged that attacks on members of minority communities, including killings, assaults and intimidation took place in India throughout 2021. __________________________
Had to dig around to find out what she said, can't find a quote but it's something about Aisha and her age when Muhammad married her and consummated that marriage.
Not sure which side she took.

Hey, could you please link some good resources on the Nupur Sharma and everything going on right now?
They might not be quite as accurate or diverse nonnie cause rn im busy with exams so please bear with me, but here you go.
For the uninformed, earlier this week, BJP spokespersons Nupur Sharma and Navin Jindal had made derogatory remarks against Prophet Muhammed, calling him a pedophile. The openly islamophobic ruling party's remarks have not only chipped off their global mask, but also deepend India's diplomatic woes as the Gulf nations along with several other Islamic countries like Indonesia and Bangladesh summoned Indian envoys and openly condemned the move. Protests have also become widespread in these nations, calling for a boycott of everything Indian. In India too, protests have been going on in Delhi, UP, West Bengal and Jharkhand, calling for the arrest of the politicians and have been turning violent in the latter two states.
The BJP however has distanced itself, calling their own politicians' statements as "fringe group elements" and has suspended Sharma and expelled Jindal instead. And all of this comes at a time when the party is at the height of their power, and also amidst rumours of the Culture Ministry doing a "racial purity" survey.
