PINNED FALLOUT LIVEBLOG POST!
so i’ve gotten a handle on the basic game by now, will be continuing to work through it for A While probably.
OBLIGATORY REITERATION: i have not played this game before and am doing so relatively blind. if you want me to react genuinely to things when i find out about things, please refrain from spoiling them. it’ll be a lot more fun for the both of us, trust me. ominously cryptic knowing winks and similar emoticons are ok though.
NOTES ON THE JOURNEY SO FAR:
- HOWARD-TODD is the name i gave to my character’s (CAT’s) beloved husband who tragically and completely unexpectedly died in the prologue, in the absence of any canon name to my knowledge. i later found out that the game refers to him as NATE, so i guess that's now his middle name. i miss him so much.
- not to be confused with my nemesis, the vile villain TODD HOWARD, who continually taunts me with the riddle of whether or not transparent substances can be walked upon.
- my LAWYERLY QUEST is to return a GUIDING HAND OF WORKPLACE HEALTH AND SAFETY to the wasteland, and usher in a new era of RESPONSIBLE HAZARD MANAGEMENT to lift us from the ashes of our destruction. this originated as a joke due to the female player character having the occupation of “LAWYER”, which seems like maybe the least useful skillset to bring into a POST-APOCALYPTIC HELLSCAPE, especially in contrast to HOWARD-TODD’s MILITARY BACKGROUND. however, i am now fully committed to this bit and if there is a way to whip the MINUTEMEN into QUALIFIED SAFETY INSPECTORS then by the KING i am gonna do it. lawyers for the win bethesda can go fuck themselves.
- occasionally i will spot a PARTICULARLY EGREGIOUS VIOLATION OF SAFE WORK PRACTICES, in which case i may post some variation of this image (or something better if/when i think of it):
Tumblr media
- in CHARACTER CREATION i used STRENGTH, ENDURANCE, and CHARISMA as my dump stats, as i am BAD AT VIDEO GAMES and needed more points for ranged and stealth mechanics. i will regret these decisions semi-regularly, but them’s the breaks.
- i recently spent ten levels boosting my CHARISMA up to 10 for the purpose of lying to the BROTHERHOOD OF STEEL about why i haven't found a single deadly weapon for them. this didn't exactly work, as i got railroaded into handing over a stash of MINI-NUKES anyway, but hopefully i can make it work in the future.
- posts will now be tagged with “FALLOUT 4: THE RESURRECTION OF OSHA”. previously they were also tagged with "FALLOUT 4 LIVEBLOG: THE GHOST FALLS OUT" but i think two liveblog tags may be a mite excessive.
- to start reading from the beginning (on anything other than mobile, apparently), click here: THE RESURRECTION OF OSHA

December Fanfiction Contest
Tumblr media
It’s that time of the year again, the time of happiness, giving, togetherness and more social distancing due to the Omicron variant. As Japan is closing its borders to all visitors and many different countries are considering going down the same road, we’re feeling like this is going to become somewhat of a recurring theme around this time of the year... But fret not! We’ve got a fitting prompt for you this month.
Prompt: Traditions. Whether referring to religious holidays and traditions related to those, their own family traditions, traditions related to December or those not at all - focus on how our girls observe traditions (or make new ones!). Words: min. 500 and max. 5500 Lemon: no, but Lime: yes! Only non-descriptive, ambiguous citrussy elements are allowed - think in the realm of popular young adult tv series. Obligatory: no mention of abuse in relationships or family and no main cast character death (explained below) Bonus: Include the smell of pine, chocolate or gasoline; include the number twelve; mention coins (explained below)
Please also tag your story (if it has any of it) for: angst, tragedy, major character death, violence or abuse (romantic relationship/family abuse not allowed this month!), suicide mentions, horror elements or anything not mentioned here that you think might make your readers uncomfortable (the mods reserve the right to add any extra tags we think are necessary for reader safety and enjoyment). Non-/dub-con is NOT ALLOWED at all this month.
OBLIGATORY restriction 1: no mentions of abuse in a romantic or familial setting - this includes physical, sexual and mental abuse between romantic partners (not just Elsa and Anna - every other romantic relationship mentioned in the story, including Elsa and Anna’s past/side relationships) and between members of the same family (again, not just Elsa and Anna - every member of their family, including parents or AU siblings/cousins/etc., as well as other families mentioned between their members.) Abuse that does not fit within these terms (so workplace power abuse, financial abuse etc.) is still allowed, however no mention of non- and dub-con is allowed this month, even as a past event. Obligatory restriction means that if your story contains any of the forbidden elements mentioned here it will be disqualified.
OBLIGATORY restriction 2: no main cast character death - meaning Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, Olaf, Sven, Hans, Oaken, Weselton, Honeymaren, Ryder, Yelana and Mattias (actual or implied death). Elsa and Anna’s parents can be dead since it is a canonical feature of the movie, but their death should not be described in detail (it can happen in canon stories following the canon storyline, however if your story is an AU the parents can only be dead before the story happens, no dying ‘on screen.’) Original Characters and characters borrowed from other sources (so not main cast of Frozen) can die/be dead. Note: they can’t die and stay dead - your zombie/vampire or reincarnation idea is still good to go, however in these cases the death AND revival both have happen in the story (so don’t leave the story on someone from the main cast being dead with the implication that they will be reincarnated off-screen.) Obligatory restriction means that if your story contains MCCD it will be disqualified.
DISQUALIFICATION means your story will still be posted (unless it breaks our general contest rules) but will not be eligible to win.
Bonus restriction 1: Smell. Include a plot-relevant description of one of the following smells: pine, chocolate or gasoline.
Bonus restriction 2: Twelve. Include the number twelve in your story, either outright or subtly.
Bonus restriction 3: Coins. Mention coins, either by someone using them to buy something, giving them as a gift, being paid in coins or any other less conventional usage of coins (they don’t have to be physical.)
Please note at the beginning of your story how and where you decided to use the bonuses (your note be removed before the story goes live.)
These are not obligatory restrictions, however following them will be rewarded with an additional point in the favorites column for every bonus plus one extra for doing them all up to a total of four (’tis the season of giving!). In other words, stories that don’t include any of the restrictions will start off with 0 base favorite votes, those that do - with 1, 2 or 4.
Read the contest rules (link in the pinned post on the blog) before participating. We’ll be accepting submissions through the submit button on our blog starting today till midnight (Baker Island) of December 30th.
Please remember to submit anonymously to make sure the voting is impartial! If you have any questions, send us an ask or join us on discord (link in the pinned post on our blog).
Good luck, have fun, happy holidays if you observe any, and try to stay home as much as possible!

A first-lines meme!
Rules: List the first lines of the last ten (10) stories you published. Look to see any patterns you notice yourself, and see if anyone else notices any. Then tag some friends.
Thank you for the tag @ma3dhros!! I’m including drabbles, chapter updates and one shots, basically anything I’ve written and thrown out to the world. Here we go!
Sending flowers to their workplace (Bookbinder//Songwriter Drabble): A stifled yawn could only be combated by a steaming cup of coffee, which was exactly what Bilbo had in his hand as he trotted down the sidewalk towards Bag End Books.
Train station scene (Bookbinder//Songwriter Drabble): Tick…tick…tick...it was the only sound that Thorin was truly listening to while standing in the bustling train station waiting on a certain bit of cargo to arrive.
Kurdu ‘abadaz (Chapter 1):  Bilbo stared. His eyes stung and his lungs were on fire with hands gripping desperately at the lifeless ones that had once gripped his own.
Bookbinder//Songwriter (Chapter 6 - Belladonna): Thorin felt completely out of his element, but he also was working himself up all on his own rather than the situation being that dire.
May Your Forge Burn Bright (Chapter 12):  Some people counted sheep or goats before sleeping. Others simply read until their eyes could take no more.
What If We Ruin It All [...] (Cold Is The Night):  Bilbo could finally understand why the dwarves were decked out in so many layers. This wasn’t the first time the chill had gotten to him, creating for a less than easy sleep, but it was however the first time he had been graced with Thorin’s coat.
Right As Snow: Holidays were always something special around Bag End. Whether it was something more of the hobbit tradition or dwarvish, each holiday was treated with care and respect for those who wished to celebrate.
Meet Me Beneath The Mistletoe: The winters that would take over Lake-town were harsh. They were brutal and often left men and women shivering in their boots even within homes with hearths burning bright.
Where The Shadows Lie (Chapter 3 - Checkmate): Saturday had finally hit, and that meant there was only one more evening to last at Bag End Bed and Breakfast before Thorin either needed to officially ask for more time to stay, or the vampire brood needed to pick up and leave.
King and Lionheart (Who’s the Short One Now?):  The day had been long, and while he might not be King Under the Mountain, Bilbo had his fair share of things to tend to as Consort.
What I noticed: I tend to start most pieces either with establishing a setting, a feeling or an action. Aka, setting the scene in some fashion and I like that!
Non-obligatory tags for: @sunnyrosewritesstuff @ahufflepuffhobbit @middleearthpixie @ragsweas @i-did-not-mean-to and anyone else who wants to play!

Wolfstar Au: Questions and Confessions (pt 3 of Parties and Morning Regrets)
tw: panic attack
pt 2
pt4
read it on ao3
obligatory tag for @icitlali as you’re pretty much the main reason this fic turned into a series, i hope you enjoy it!
When Remus woke up again, hours later, he noticed three things. 1) there was a blanket over him, 2) Lily was home, he could hear her singing along to music in the kitchen and 3) Sirius was nowhere to be seen.
Just as well, Remus thought as he got up. He felt and heard all of his joints clicking and cracking while he stretched. He wrapped the blanket tightly around himself and waddled into the kitchen.
“Hi” He whispered, despite not having to.
Lily spun around, catching him in a hug. “Feeling better?” she asked, pressing her face against his chest.
“Yeah, sleep is good” Remus nodded as they let go, and Lily went back to cooking.
“I’m making dinner, you were asleep for ages”
“Figured, I’m starved”
“I slept with James”
“James?” The name vaguely rang a bell in Remus’ head but it’s not like he knew a lot of people called James.
“Potter- James Potter, remember?” Lily chewed her bottom lip, “from school?”
“Oh”
James Potter had been best friends with Sirius Black and that was probably the only way Remus knew him. There was also the fact that he had chased after Lily for most of their school days. Most people thought he was a rich, spoiled and arrogant boy but Remus found he never really saw him like that. From their limited interactions, Remus thought James was actually a quite pleasant person, a little big-headed but all round a good bloke.
“Yeah”
“And?” Remus waved his hands around, nearly letting the blanket fall to his feet.
“And… we may have exchanged numbers”
“Lily!”
“What?!”
“You always said you hated him!”
“Well I did… but, he got really fit” Lily admitted, pink dusting her cheeks.
“Fit? you slept with him cause he got fit?”
“Kind of- I mean, we talked at the party and he told me about his work and Remus, he’s a human rights lawyer”
This was an interesting piece of information. Remus didn’t know that James was also a lawyer but he did remember Sirius mentioning something about him the night of the party. Did this mean that maybe Remus was wrong? Maybe Sirius wasn’t working for his father anymore and he was in New York to team up with James. It was unlikely though since he specifically remembered his brain latching onto Sirius saying something along the lines of him doing business for his father. There was always the possibility of Sirius lying. However, Remus felt that was unlikely too. Sirius wasn’t much of a liar unless he had to.
He must’ve been quiet for too long because Lily nudged him gently. “Hey, you okay?”
“Yeah, yeah” Remus nodded, “just thinking”
“Bad thinking or good thinking”
Remus shrugged. “Just… thinking”
“Does it have anything to do with you definitely sleeping with your gorgeous ex-boyfriend the other night?”
Remus’ face reddened and he pulled the blanket tighter around himself as if it could shield him from all his problems and worries.
“Ha! I knew it” Lily was practically jumping up and down. “He left his phone number”
Remus groaned. “Throw it away”
“What?”
“Bin it, burn it, I don’t care”
“Remus, you can’t just cut off anyone who makes you feel things” Lily sighed.
“I don’t do that” Lie. He did it all the time.
“Yes you do… remember when you dated Anna? or Frank? or Sam?”
Remus shrugged and made a vague noise. He didn’t like where this was going but Lily carried on.
“You pushed them away as soon as it got too real, as soon as it got serious”
“Well, I just didn’t want to settle down with them”
“And why’s that, my friend?”
“I don’t know… they weren’t right” Remus shrugged again, “who are you? my therapist?”
“I’m your friend, idiot” Lily lightly hit his arm, smiling despite fully reading Remus like today’s paper. “I just think we both know it’s because they weren’t Sirius”
Remus had nothing to say to that. “Just… bin the number, I don’t want to talk to him”
Lily sighed, exasperated. “You don’t have to talk to him but I’m not throwing out his number, just in case”
“I’m not going to call him” He replied, leaning his chin on her shoulder.
“I know, you’re too set on making yourself miserable”
“That’s not true”
“Oh sure”
“I don’t even like him”
“I saw the way he looked at you, clearly he still cares a lot about you and…” she paused, kissing Remus’ forehead before reaching for two plates. “you do too or else you wouldn’t have invited him up earlier”
“I just didn’t want to leave him out in the cold” That’s all there was to it, Remus had told himself earlier. He was tired and leaving Sirius outside, alone in the cold, in a city he probably wasn’t familiar with just seemed like the wrong thing to do.
“Sounds like caring to me” Lily replied in a sing-songy voice.
Remus resorted to sticking his tongue out instead of formulating a response.
Lily passed him a plate filled with pasta and the two brought their food to the sitting room. “Who’s manning the bakery?” Remus asked, suddenly realising that neither one of them had gone to work.
“Marlene and Dorcas, I went in to check when I was picking up Mrs Pettigrew’s shopping” Lily paused for a forkful of pasta before continuing. “She was asking about you”
“Why me?”
“Dunno, she likes you”
Remus raised his eyebrow, changing the channel and ending up on an episode of Doctor Who.
“Yeah, I don’t know why but she said you should drop by soon” Lily added.
“Mmm, I might later”
The two finished their dinner in a comfortable silence, occasionally commenting on what the current Doctor was getting up to. After dinner, Lily showered and Remus finally got the chance to take that bath he had wanted nearly all day. He bid Lily an early goodnight afterwards, seeing as he was up for the morning shift the next day.
Remus didn’t mind working at the bakery, it meant he never had to walk far to get to work or to get home. He wasn’t passionate about it like Lily was though which meant for him, waking up at the arse crack of dawn wasn’t worth it. Still, he got up, feeling a billion times better than the day before, and got dressed. It was 4am when he got there and the only other person with him was Mary McDonald.
Mary was a good friend of Lily’s and just as passionate about making the best baked goods as she was. Their entire staff consisted of five people, usually there were two people there from 4 am up until 4 pm (despite it opening hours being 8am to 3 pm). During busier hours, another person came in from 11 am to 2 pm. It was a small business but it was open every day and sold everything from custom order cakes to bread, rolls and just nearly every other baked good under the sun. Lily was a fair boss and no one had to be in work for 4 am two days in a row since the bakery was so small, they didn’t need more than three people there at the one time. Usually they got by with just the two.
“Morning” Mary rubbed her eyes, turning on the radio when Remus walked in.
“ ‘Ello” He saluted, getting ready to sanitise the kitchen and get the dough prepared for all the baked goods they would be selling that day.
Remus liked working with Mary. She was quiet enough and most of the time the two got to enjoy listening to the radio, singing along to songs or commenting on the news as they worked. He hadn’t even thought about Sirius since the night before and all was going great.
That was until the clock hit 2:15. That was when Remus was working the till and that was when Sirius waltzed into the small establishment. Remus knew it wasn’t a coincidence because Lily’s bakery was small and very very local. There was no way Sirius had just so happened to wander in off the street.
To Remus’ dismay, after Sirius bought an eclair and a cup of coffee, he didn’t leave. Sirius didn’t leave even when he had finished, instead stuck around and ordered another coffee. Who drinks so much coffee, thought Remus, feeling more and more annoyed the more time Sirius spent not leaving. Eventually, it was time for Remus’ break and Mary took over the till.
Remus went out the back, into the alleyway for a cig and a yogurt. Unfortunately, he didn’t get to enjoy much of his lunch break by himself because after he had eaten, and lit the cigarette, someone he didn’t want to see appeared in his line of vision.
“You haven’t called”
Straight to the point then, Remus thought, taking an extra long drag of the cig. “No”
“Why not?” Sirius shoved his hands in his pockets, shifting his weight between his two feet.
“Why is it that you always get to be the one asking questions and pointing out how much I’ve changed?” Remus countered, putting the cigarette out on the ashy tray on the windowsill.
Sirius didn’t say anything so Remus straightened and took a step forward with his hands tucked under his arms, to keep the cold off. The fingerless gloves weren’t much help. “How come you’re New York? Why are you still working for your father’s bloody firm? And why are you so quiet and subdued?”
While all of this was spilling out of Remus, he suddenly found himself right up in Sirius’ face with his breath ghosting his lips. Sirius didn’t back down though as steel grey met blazing amber.
“You never asked” He replied simply.
“Because you never gave me the chance to!” Remus took a step back and one forward again. “I did now so… go on, out with it”
“My father recently branched out to America, New York to be specific and I…. I wanted- no, I needed to get away” Sirius spat out. “I needed to get away from my parents because I had enough of them and everything they stood for and… and I finally stopped being so afraid of them!”
“So why did you go after me then?”
“I didn’t go after you”
“You talked to me at the party and then you showed up at my workplace” Remus reasoned, “I’m so sorry that I misread the fucking signs!”
“You’re the one that invited me up to the flat!”
“Yes, because it was cold out and I didn’t want to be that guy who left someone in a new city out in the freezing fucking cold”
“Really? because you didn’t have a problem making jabs at me and being a cruel bastard”
“Oh I’m the bastard, sure”
“That’s not fair and you know it!”
“Well life isn’t fair either and you don’t get to decide what’s fair and what’s not, so how about you fuck off Sirius”
“No” came Sirius’ sharp reply.
“I beg your pardon?”
“I said no” Sirius’ voice was shaking and Remus hated himself for wanting to comfort him. “No because I’m still in love with you even though you clearly don’t want me to be because you’re acting like a condescending asshole 90% of the time and the other 10 you remind me of the guy I fell for in Year 7”
Remus felt winded. Year 7?? “You- you can’t just drop that on me….” He trailed off, staggering backwards. “I need get back to work”
He turned on his heel and ran a hand through his hair. Sirius said something, shouted Remus’ name maybe but his voice sounded distant and fogged. Somehow he stumbled back into the bakery to see Mary look at him with worried eyes.
“Remus?”
Her voice was distant too and the room was too warm. His lungs wouldn’t fill properly and his head spun. He felt like he was going to pass out and he would’ve literally hit the ground if Mary hadn’t caught him.
She put him in a chair against the wall and grabbed a bottle of water, fusing over him and saying things Remus wasn’t hearing because the sound of his heart racing was far too loud. Yep, this is how I die, he thought, leaning back in the chair and letting his head hit the wall.
Suddenly Mary appeared in front of him again, he could only tell by the hands on his shoulders as his eyes were closed. “Remus? Remus, deep breaths love” when Remus was unresponsive she tried again. “Remus breathe in, 1.. 2.. 3.. 4.. and hold the breath 2... 3.. 4.. 5.. 6.. 7.. and out again, 2… 3… 4… 5… 6… 7… 8…”
This time Remus followed Mary’s lead. They did the breathing exercise a couple more times before Remus felt stable enough to open his eyes again. “What happened?”
“Listen I-“ Remus cut himself off because what did happen. “Thank you, I don’t really- can we not talk about it?”
Mary was kind, there was no denying that. She nodded, despite looking concerned. “Of course, yeah, whatever makes you comfortable”
Mary insisted that Remus stay in the back for the rest of the day and he was happy enough not having to man the till. Sirius had completely disappeared and Remus was too tired to do anything about it. At 3pm, Mary locked up and they set about preparing ingredients and products for the next day, freezing selected stock and cleaning the kitchen.
By the time they had finished Mary was still concerned. “Hey, are you alright now?”
“Mmm, yeah, I’m good” Remus would’ve preferred to face Sirius again and risk another panic attack rather than have to talk to Mary about what happened earlier.
Mary gave him a tight smile and put a hand on his arm. “Mind yourself, yeah?” she gave his arm a light squeeze before the two went their separate ways.

What: Erik sits with The Daily Planet for an interview about Genosha: who they are, what their government is like, their hopes for the future. Tagging: Erik Lehnsherr ( @master-of-magnetism ) & Kara Danvers ( @maidenxfmight ) Warnings: Holocaust mention, genocide mention, death mention, injury mention
KARA: “You ready?”
Was she? Kara’s jaw hurt from how hard her teeth had been clenched. The notes on her page seemed to jump off, the contrast too high. There was too much noise. The cameraman’s heartbeat pounded like a drum against the inside of her skull. She’d rather be home, tucked under her blankets with her ear-muffs on. Room dark.
“Yeah, I’m ready.” If she tilted her glasses down, she could see him. If she cared less, she could fry through the wall that separated them. Someone said ‘bring him in’ and Kara pushed her glasses up her nose.
ERIK: This, he’d expected. The world had turned upside down over one long weekend, and everyone was still trying to make sense of it all. There were mixed responses to the change of status quo, thus far, and news organizations had been clamoring for a word from the leader of the world’s newest sovereign state.
If Erik had his way, he’d be there now, but it was important to go through the motions this early on. It was strange but freeing to be able to walk the streets of New York without concealing himself.
The producers were chatting at him now, presumably trying to prep him, but Erik was more focused on trying not to smack at the hand of the makeup artist tapping powder on his face. As it turned out, he didn’t have to–she was brushed aside by the producer, who had one hand pressed to his earpiece. “Right through here.”
It was Kara. Because of course it was. He knew, he’d been prepped, but his ribs still twinged slightly at the memory of the last time he’d seen her. Even so, he plastered on a cool smile, settling himself into the chair opposite her. “Ms. Danvers.”
KARA: She waited until he was seated across from her before meeting his eyes. She looked at the set of the cameras, the rug beneath their feet, the small coffee table with the obligatory glasses of water that sat on top, him. He looked the same, and her heart moved double-time in her chest. Rao, she didn’t want this.
But she kept her gaze firm, and she refused to back down. He’d told her to embrace her anger, and she was learning. She found a polite smile for the sake of manners, and the camera crew around them. “Mr. Lehnsherr. Shall we get right to it?”
The less time she spent with him, the better. She gave a nod to the cameraman, keeping Erik in her periphery as she watched him count down. “Welcome, ladies and gentleman, to another Daily Planet exclusive. Today we’ll be talking with Erik Lehnsherr about his recent acquisition of Genosha. He has been a vocal proponent of mutant rights for years; a war that only last week ended in a showdown with government authorities. Mr. Lehnsherr, thank you for coming in today.”
ERIK: The cast of her eyes made something between his still-sore ribs and his stomach twist itself into knots. She glanced around the studio, eyes cutting back to him every few moments, and Erik knew intimately that particular sort of wariness. The importance of keeping eyes on a threat without making eye contact and risking the response to that. He could feel the way her heartbeat sped up in her chest, even behind the carefully maintained mask of neutral interest.
She had almost killed him. Could, still, if it came to it. And yet she was afraid. Furious, too, since the heat in her eyes was only just banked, but he knew the signs of fear nevertheless. (She was looking at him like he’d once looked at Schmidt, and he wasn’t… he wasn’t like that. Was he?)
Erik looked away for a moment, shoved whatever that was squarely back into its box. Now was not the time. (Never was preferable.) Focus on Genosha. Only Genosha. Not Kara, not Raven, and definitely not Schmidt.
And then the cameraman was counting down, and Erik plastered back on a cool smile, watching the camera light flick from red to green. Compartmentalization. He settled back in his seat, demeanour shifting into the suave steadiness Kara had become acquainted with in the Before. “It’s my pleasure, Ms. Danvers. The world has changed very quickly, in the last few weeks, for everyone, and I’m honored to help provide what I can of clarity and perspective.”
KARA: “I’m sure our viewers would love some of both.” Kara’s fingers ran over her edges of her notebook. He looked as comfortable in the hot seat as he had in that alley, with a cigarette held loose in his fingers and fire dancing in his eyes. She had to remind herself this was a job, just a job.
She loved what she did, truly. Journalism hadn’t only been about following in Clark’s footsteps, it had been about sharing the truth. Her own planet had died, and everyone she knew along with it, because her parents had kept the truth to themselves. She wondered what truth she was trying to expose here. Genosha wasn’t only for Erik. It was for Scott, for Jean and Gabby and Lorna. Twisting it for them wouldn’t actually help.
Her own feelings didn’t matter, and she tamped them down as best she could. Even when her skin crawled, even when her heart hammered out of her chest.
“Let’s start with your vision for Genosha. It’s obviously new, and will have much growing to do. Tell us about it now, and where do you see it going in the future?”
ERIK: The mention of Genosha made the smile a bit easier, a bit more genuine. He was proud of what they’d accomplished, proud to be able to talk about it.
“My vision is, and always has been, a place where mutantkind can be safe from the oppression we’ve faced for so long in human societies. I lived in Israel for some time, many decades ago, and I quite took to the idea of creating a space where a people that had been roundly oppressed on a global basis could live freely in close community with their own kin. That’s why we offered mutants, and by-birth metahumans, automatic citizenship eligibility. And the island is coming along well, so far. We have a diverse set of mutants on the island who are willing and able to help shape our peoples’ new homeland. There are teams dedicated to terraforming the island and fostering fauna growth, teams dedicated to construction, and then, of course, the Council, led by myself, that will be shaping our national policies. We’ve been able to swiftly secure resources and funding for business growth. In the meantime, transportation between New York City and Genosha is easy–all that’s required is a security check at the border.”
KARA: It had always been hard to argue with Erik. His history had more than earned him the right to his anger, and his love for his people shone through in every word he said. She thought of Jason, and blacks and whites, and all those grey areas in between. What happened to her felt so black and white, wrong, but Erik saw more shades of grey than she did.
Her hands skimmed over her notebook, a movement she worked hard to quell, and her eyes never left Erik. “An admirable vision.” More than a vision, a reality literally growing not too far from where they sat. There was a notable enough pause between one question and the next that her cameraman poked his head around his screen. A question burned on the tip of her tongue, and she swallowed it back. “What would you say to mutants or metahumans who want somewhere safe, but who were possibly…spooked by the violence it took to create it?”
ERIK: A long silence settled between them, in the wake of her noncommittal response, and Erik didn’t falter in demeanor even as the cameramen and producers exchanged confused glances. Silence had a tendency to reveal truths–and there one was, plain as day in the question. Plain to the two of them, anyways.
“Many of us grew up surrounded by violence–if not from the beginning, then certainly from when our powers became clear. Whether it was experimentation, harassment, familial abuse, workplace discrimination, or something else, every single one of us has stories they can tell. And I am sorry that more violence was necessary to break us free. But we tried warnings, we tried negotiations. It is my honest opinion that we went above and beyond our obligations to try for peaceful resolution before the seige, even after they murdered a mutant hero in the middle of Central Park. The X-Men spent years trying to protect humans from threats, even at their own peril. Professor Xavier was happy to welcome students into his home whose families were either unwilling or unable to house their mutant children. We wrote op-eds, we made speeches, we penned explicit warnings that war would come if we weren’t brought to the table to help smooth things out. Instead, humans only raised the stakes.” There was only a hint of anger in his tone, most of it stubbornly crushed under the facade of careful diplomacy. Most, but not all.
“Some of the methods necessary to our win were unfortunate, I’ll freely admit. But it got people to listen, finally. And now we have our own place, where we are building the peaceful society we’ve never had the chance to live in for ourselves. I want the mutants and metahumans who watched their TV screens for that long weekend to know that I didn’t build Genosha as a victory pyre. It is not meant to be a symbol of constant war. It is meant to be for all my people what I always wanted myself–a *home. A safe haven. Nothing more or less.”
KARA: A safe haven. Kara let herself smile, despite the way her heart still hammered against her chest, how she had to remind herself to sit still. It was the message she’d wanted to get out, after all. The only thing that had pulled her out of the moment of shock following Snapper’s given assignment was the thought of ensuring the message of hope that was Genosha itself would get out.
That Erik somehow answered her unspoken question in the process of answering her actual question was unimportant.
(It still curled tightly in her chest, settled heavy on her shoulders. She still had to swallow against the nauseous feeling of it in her throat.)
The room seemed to shift around them, the tension rising in the wake of the small strain of anger in his voice. Kara remained steadfast in the center, “You built peace at the end of a war you’ve been fighting a lot longer than just one weekend. And it is peace, for any mutant or metahuman who wishes to enter.” Alien was notably absent. The tension in the room told Kara it wasn’t the time or the place to point that out. This was about Genosha. “For anyone looking to enter, what do you think day-to-day life will be like for citizens of Genosha? What can they expect in the ways of laws, economy, relations and movement between other countries?”
ERIK: The next question was expected, wasn’t a surprise, but his heartbeat ticked up in speed once, twice, thrice before he took control to slow it down, gaze and steady smile still aimed at Kara before he turned to the camera.
“In some ways, Genosha won’t be all that different from what our citizens are used to elsewhere. We have the same basic laws meant to keep the peace. We’re building small businesses, infrastructure, greenhouses for food supply–exactly what you’d expect to find in any community. Obviously, given the nature of our citizenry, we intend to have a large space in society for the use of powers and abilities. No mutant needs to be afraid to use their abilities on Genosha–if you need help learning to use them, Xavier’s Institute has been the golden standard of that sort of education for years. People will find their place in our society where their interests and skills meet, and that is on particular display in the High Council, whose names and positions I do believe I sent over. Warren Worthington is in charge of our Ministry of Commerce due to his expertise in business. Jean Grey is heading up our Ministry of Health and overseeing the construction of our healthcare system due to her medical experience. Charles Xavier is responsible for our Ministry of Education, for obvious reasons. I’ve taken great care to select an experienced and trustworthy Council to guide the direction of our growing country, and they in turn are excellent at scouting talent to best fulfill their own responsibilities.” And now to relations. The truth wasn’t something even those close to him knew, yet, but he knew the story that needed to be told. The one the world needed to hear so they wouldn’t decide Genosha was too much a threat, after all. “As for diplomatic relationships, building and maintaining good relationships with other nations is of paramount importance. We want to serve not only as a safe haven, but as an advocate for our people abroad, improving conditions for mutants and metahumans who may not wish to relocate. As I mentioned before, movement into and out of Genosha currently requires only a security check at the border. We’re working on the creation of passports and visas, so it’s possible that the border may tighten in the future, but such is the case for any country. Border security varies based on the political landscape—and we’re making a good-faith effort to be far more open than I think most new countries would be in such close proximity to one with which they recently finished a war. I want to extend my thanks to the U.S. State Department for their willingness to work on forging a positive working relationship between our nations despite the obvious rocky history.”
KARA: His heart ticked up, and Kara zeroed in on it. She watched the expressions play across his face, his smile steady but the moment between the question and his answer notable. Her fingers danced across her notebook, and she wanted to push. It was half her job, wasn’t it? Get answers. But there was a stark difference between sitting across the table from someone demanding answers for an article in print, and sitting in front of a myriad of cameras.
“That brings us to the actual layout of your government. Are you looking at a democracy, wherein officials are elected after the initial establishing of the country is done; a constitutional monarchy?” Her lips ticked up, imagining Jean with a crown. But that would mean Erik falling into a soft life somewhere, finally at peace. The race of his heart and the anger flashing through his eyes before she’d flown away from Genosha told Kara peace was still so far away for Erik Lehnsherr.
ERIK: He could see the questions burning on her tongue by the way her fingers curled around the pen and skirted across the page, as if she were mentally imagining it filling with all the answers she wanted to demand.
But she was not alone with him, for better or for worse, the both of them were on camera, and there were lines, professional and personal, that she wouldn’t cross. Not here.
“Certainly, that’s along the lines of my vision for what lies further down the line. I believe that people deserve a right to be represented by their government–something which was decidedly not the case for mutants in America, before the recent restructuring of the Accords. That’s one of the primary reasons I established the Council; of course, I could hardly be expected to do all the work on my own, but large decisions for our country are meant to be discussed by myself and relevant Council members–or for the most important decisions, amongst the entire Council. I can understand that from the outside it might look like simply delegating tasks, but my Council is meant to lay the groundwork for a deliberative body that makes decisions for our people. For purposes of ease, in these early days, I have the final say as of now, but I chose people that I trust to be honest with me, not simply tell me what I want to hear. I’m confident that the decisions we make moving forward will be what’s best for all of our people. But in short, yes: I intend for our country to eventually shift officially to a constitutional monarchy. Eventually, my hope is to abolish the monarchy entirely, but that would obviously be quite a ways in the future.”
KARA: So Jean could end up in a crown. The thought was oddly comforting, even while her heart continued to race. She wanted to do Genosha justice, ensure any mutants wishing to find peace knew there was a place for them. There were viewers who wanted to know everything, and Kara just wanted to be home. She wanted to be somewhere she couldn’t hear his heartbeat.
Her eyes dropped to her notebook, where most of the questions had already been asked. “Of course, of course, yeah. One more question, Mr. Lehnsherr, and we’ll let you get back to what I’m sure is an incredibly busy job building an entirely new country. And again, thank you for taking the time to talk with us today. It means a lot, not only to The Planet, but to so many who are looking at Genosha with so many questions, and even hope.”
She wanted to ask him to promise against violence in the future. She wanted to ask him if had any regrets. She wanted to ask him selfish things she already knew the answer to. She swallowed them down. “If you close your eyes and you imagine Genosha five, ten, fifteen years in the future, what does daily life look like, the culture, the…food, the smells? Is religion engrained in the culture? What does it look like when Genosha goes from an upstart to a home?”
ERIK: She was sitting there asking him what the future looked like, and Erik had to bite the inside of his cheek to refrain from laughing. That was the question, isn’t it? Erik had spent his whole life fighting for a better future, but in all honesty? He’d never expected to live to see it. He’d long ago resigned himself to the idea that this fight would kill him–that he could open the door for others, but wouldn’t make it to the other side.
But here he was, now, and he didn’t know what to do with himself. He could never concede that–not to his family, not to his people, and certainly not to his enemies. He was pushing through, helping construct this new world step by step, but the final vision was still shrouded in clouds on the horizon.
( He should be dead, should’ve been in Raven’s place– )
Erik smiled at the camera and pretended that he’d ever had the optimism to sustain a dream. Pretended that the dreams he’d once had hadn’t been squashed by the people watching this broadcast, all the little humans snuggled up under their blankets at home, again and again and again. Pretended that his dreams hadn’t been massacred in Auschwitz, and burned in Vinnitsa, and killed again by a bullet in Cuba and another in Central Park a decade later. “Genosha is open to all mutants and metahumans, from all over the world. Every one of them will bring different traditions with them, a different piece of fabric in the quilt. As we grow together, new traditions should spring up, native to Genosha, to our species.” They needed to move away from human traditions. Away from humans.
“I see children who can claim a homeland rather than a host, able to play safely in our communities and learn their powers while surrounded by people who can provide the guidance they need. Genosha will be built on community for our people, not competition–all of us working for collective benefit instead of individual wins at the expense of our kin. I see my people using their gifts freely, creating new advances that will change the world. I want a city centre that showcases the best we have to offer–restaurants filling the air with the smells of their food, boutiques of creative wares, monuments commemorating our best and brightest, a government that works efficiently to meet the people’s needs as thy arise instead of being bogged down in political disagreements.”
Erik sat forward, eyes shining with earnestness. “Most importantly, I want every single resident to feel the words I’ve been pushing for years: mutant and proud. Or metahuman and proud, as the case may be,” he tacked on with a chuckle. “Regardless, I want my people to embrace their true nature, their true power. Perhaps some would paint that as a religion: I wouldn’t go that far. I am a Jewish mutant, and I am proud of it. At last our people have their freedom. And if I do my job right, we will never be afraid again.”
KARA: A small silence followed the answer. The cameras took a moment to focus on his face, and Kara tried to parse through everything he’d said. She wanted it for them. For Scott, Jean, Gabby, Lorna. A place to be happy and themselves, to grow and thrive. Again, alien was notably absent, but she pushed it aside.
This was the end, a goodbye, hopefully without the ‘see you later.’
“That sounds…wonderful. Thank you again, Mr. Lehnsherr. I’m sure you have much to do. And thank you, viewers, for joining us tonight. This has been a Daily Planet special.”
The red lights on the camera ticked off one by one, and Kara was out of her seat in an instant, almost suspiciously fast. She gave a polite ‘thank you’ and a smile, and offered her hand to shake because that’s what good reporters did. That’s what the camera crew expected of her. She made it out of the room, down the stairs, into the alley before the rolling in her stomach caught up with her and she bent over the studio dumpster.

I Hate you, I Love You Chapter 5
Chapter Summary -  Danielle helps Benedict with Christopher while the pair talk.Tom goes into his mothers and is brought to a realisation that the world is not, contrary to recent belief, all about him.
Previous Chapter
Rating - Mature (some chapters contain smut)
Triggers - references to Tom Hiddleston’s work with the #MeToo Movement. That chapter will be tagged accordingly.
authors Note - I have been working on this for the last 3 years, it is currently 180+ chapters long.  This will be updated daily, so long as I can get time to do so, obviously.
I think it goes without saying that I am taking some serious artistic licence with Tom here. I would hope he is more copped on than this......actually, considering the last few months, I think it may be somewhat true, hopefully, he isn't so naive, he is, after all, a (then) 35-year-old man, but let's face it, this makes the story more dramatic.
If you wish to be tagged, please let me know.

“How are you feeling?” Ben asked. He had met Danielle a few times through Tom and his family, she was incredibly normal, which was refreshing when you’re surrounded by actors and Hollywood. “I heard you yell at Tom about your night.”
“I just…Today is not the day for unimportant bull…” She caught herself before she swore. “Sorry.”
“I keep getting caught myself.” Ben dismissed changing the nappy. “Can I be so rude as to ask to heat some food for him too?”
“Sure, get him sorted and then we’ll organise that then.” She smiled. “It is nine in the morning, did you drive from London?”
“Someone, and I am not pointing fingers,” He pointed to his son. “Is getting up early, and Sophie is in Scotland, so I didn’t know what to do, I thought I would visit Tom, but well…”
“That blew up in your face.”
“That’s the polite way of putting it. This is so…not Tom.”
“Tell me about it, Diana is completely at a loss, so are Emma and Sarah, and for some reason, because he does not want to confront whatever or whoever is eating at him, I am Public Enemy Number One. Does he eat porridge?” She indicated to Christopher.
“Yes, but there’s no need to go to the trouble.”
“I usually have a bowl before I go to bed anyway,” she shrugged. “It’s only a little extra scoop; unless you want some yourself.”
“I am fine, thank you. Strong coffee is good. So you are…”
“I will be fine, I will go to bed for a while, then head to work early and get an assessment and an obligatory counselling session then be back to work.”
“That…Jesus, that’s rough.”
“You get used to it, in some ways, if that makes any bit of sense.”
“Do you not ever get nightmares?”
“Most weeks that something terrible happens, yeah.”
“Jesus.”
“I should have just gone to acting college.”
“Could you have afforded it?” There was a clear hint in Benedict’s voice that he was being sarcastic, clearly having heard everything Tom had said.
“Any other day, I’d have kneed him in the nuts for that, but today, I just can’t care, besides, it is clear, he is not the guy he was.” She sighed.
“Is that…?” Benedict pointed out the window.
“Mac, get down.” Elle didn’t even have to look, she knew it was the dog. “He’s the dog Tom found, yeah.”
“He looks good.”
“A bit scraggily, but yeah, he is doing well now.” She smiled.
“I am sorry.”
“What for?”
“Tom.”
“No one can apologise for him but himself. I only hope he sees sense, and when he does, that everyone is still here for him, because I think I am officially at the very precipice of telling him to go take a running jump off the nearest cliff.”
“No one would blame you. Thank you.” He took the fresh porridge and coffee from her and blew on it.
Half an hour, and a fed waddler later, Benedict thanked her, and left her home, tying Christopher into his car seat, before looking at Diana Hiddleston’s house and sighing.
*
“What was that ruckus outside Tom?” Diana asked, still in her nightgown.
“Benedict has gone into Danielle’s.” He stated angrily.
“I am not sure I follow.”
“He came here, supposedly to see me, but instead went into hers, and is in there now.”
“And why is that?” Diana looked at her son, she knew when he was at fault for something as a child, he would just give the start and end of a story, but nothing of what occurred in the intervening period.
“I was talking with Elle, and she went off on me, and he took her side.”
“Thomas,” Diana warned.
“I was tired and angry, and I may have said something, and she…”
“Gave you the truth?” Diana interjected. “You are my son Thomas, and I will always love you, but you need to get yourself in check, you are going to allow everything you worked for go down the toilet, and for what? When you were dating Susannah, you broke it off because you knew you would be too busy and did not want to drag her along, and now, you are going too far the other way, dropping it all for a woman, one who is not ready to settle down, and at twenty-six, that is fine, she is young, but you are putting it all on this one horse Thomas, and I am not sure the horse will even run the race.” Tom frowned. “Elle has a difficult job, and she wants her life outside it to be as smooth as possible, please do not make that any harder on her.”
Tom said no more, he knew once his mother found out the difficult night Danielle had, she would murder him for adding to her misery. “I need to get showered.” Diana nodded and went into the kitchen, turning on the radio.
“There was a road traffic accident in the early hours of this morning in Suffolk, a woman, and her two children were travelling back from a trip to Legoland when a truck driver fell asleep at the wheel, killing the occupiers of the car. The woman, named as thirty-four-year-old Carol Johnson originally from Brighton, residing in Suffolk, was recently widowed and had taken her children, eight year old Jeffery and five year old Jessica to the famous theme park following the death of her husband in a workplace accident in the North Sea on an oil rig earlier this summer, Jessica was said to be excited to start school next week, having bought her school supplies while in London with her mother. Police and paramedics at the scene said it was a devastating reminder of the dangers of driving while tired, and urge drivers to pull in and sleep if they feel themselves dozing off at the wheel.”
Tom sat on the steps of the stairs, listening to what Danielle had dealt with at work, feeling guilt riddle him once more. Diana came into the hallway, her face pale at what she had heard. “You don’t think…”
“She mentioned it, yes.”
“She was there?” Tom nodded. “And you were…”
“I didn’t know.”
“I think it best you leave her alone from now on Thomas,” Diana stated coldly.
Tom went upstairs without another word as Diana left the house to check on her neighbour.
*
For the rest of the time he was in Suffolk, Tom did as his mother suggested, and left Danielle alone. He was opening the window of the bathroom to leave out steam after a shower, and saw her in her back garden, a cup of coffee and a slice of apple crumble on the table, on a recliner garden chair, with Mac Tíre curled up on top of her. The dog, though small for a Sheppard, took up most of her torso, as she curled her arms around him, the dog clearly sensing her distress. He felt terrible for her, and was about to go apologise to her when his phone went off, looking at the screen, he noticed it was Taylor and clicked accept; since she was supposed to be in LA and that meant she was ringing him at five am there. “Hey.”
“I have the best night.” She half sang at him.
“I’m glad to hear that.”
“I sang with Nelly at Mike’s birthday.”
“What?”
“Mike Heis, the oil heir, I sang at his birthday, here in the Hamptons.” She repeated excitedly.
“The Hamptons, isn’t that on the East Coast?” Tom frowned.
“Eh, yeah, here in Long Island.”
“I thought you were in LA, that’s what you said yesterday?”
“OMG, I decided not to go, a party is so much more fun, especially for Mike, he is super rich and sweet, so I said, how could I say no, right? I mean he is practically squad approved awesome, by the way, I kissed him, so don’t be surprised to see a photo.”
“What?”
“Oh there’s nothing behind it, totally platonic, it’s on the cheek, so you’ll get over it.”
“That’s sort of, inappropriate, though, isn’t it? I mean if there are pictures.” Tom broached.
“It was a friendly one, and besides, I am not changing myself for anyone, and it keeps the cameras where they need to be. I’m tired, so I am going to bed, you’re here again tomorrow, right?”
“I need to go straight to Australia, there is one scene that went a bit awry, so I am to go there and then I am free for a week, yeah.”
“Tell them you are busy til Thursday.”
“That’s not how it goes with Marvel movies Taylor, they are in charge, not me.”
“I told my parents you are going to be here, so be here Tom.” She demanded petulantly.
“I cannot be there until I do the scene, they’ve paid the flights, I have to go.”
“Fine, but I am coming too.”
“Great.” His tone did not match the word.
“What’s wrong with you?”
“Jetlag, and a small argument with my mum’s neighbour I have to sort.”
“That woman?”
“Danielle, yes.”
“She is such a bitch, Johnny, my bodyguard, told me she was trying to sneak into your mums when I was there with you, as though she owned the place, and had like a camera phone in her hand, you are better off away from her, I bet she has a hoard of things on you, waiting for the highest bidder, you should have a high fence and an NDA put on her ass. I mean, what is she paying for that house with?”
Tom’s brow furrowed. “I never asked.”
“Maybe you should, your family has money, and she is some nurse or something, and she can live next door to your mum, and only did so after you got famous.” Taylor planted a seed in his mind; he looked down, looking at the woman that had been close to his family for so long. “I mean, it’s so cliché, use the family to get to your celebrity crush.”
“Crush?”
“Yeah, she is totally in love with you, why do you think she is always running around to your mothers, dying to see you no doubt, I mean, I bet she accidentally walked in while you were there, pretending not to know you were home.” Tom thought of the first day, and her arriving home just after him from work. “I’m right, you know it. I am used to it all, I have been in this game long enough, she is practically a stalker.”
“Tom, are you there?” a voice called from outside the bathroom.
“I better go; mum is calling.”
“What time are you into JFK tomorrow?”
“Actually, it’s to Florida.”
“What, no that’s unacceptable, change it.”
“I am afraid not everyone has private jets, love.” Tom chuckled.
“You should, fine, I will send mine to get you.”
“The next flight is from there to Hawaii and then a connection to Brisbane.”
“God, that’s a joke.” She commented.
“Get some sleep love, I will see you soon.”
“You better.” She signed off, hanging up before he could say anymore.
“Tom?” He heard his mother call from outside his room in the hallway.
“Yeah,” Tom looked at the phone. “I’m here.”
“I am going to Emma’s for a few days with Danielle, what time is your flight?”
“What?” Tom demanded, opening the bathroom door.
“Emma’s, Elle and I are going there for a few days.” Diana jumped slightly when Tom opened the door.
“Why?”
“Because Elle took that crash badly, she is not sleeping at all, apparently those children, they are keeping her awake,” Diana stated sadly. “She’s been giving compassionate leave for a week, she needs a break.”
“So she is on the verge of a breakdown, that is what you are saying, that she is nuts.”
“Thomas!”
“What, that is what you are saying, is she even safe to be around?”
“How could you say such a thing, you heard the news report, and saw the photo’s in the paper, you can see her, trying to get into the car. How she hasn’t had one is a miracle. Don’t you dare speak badly of her for it.” Diana snapped.
“She is too close to the family, you need to step back from her. How do we even know her family are dead?”
“Thomas! What has gotten into you?”
“Taylor was saying…”
“I should have known.” Diana walked off. “That girl has cost you a lot of late Thomas, I have to wonder how much you will lose before you wisen up. She is off snuggling up to billionaires sons and kissing them all too closely and you are here losing everything for her.”
“She told me about that, it was platonic.” He called down the stairs.
“And yet when I met that Australian girl from The Night Manager, she said she tried to ring you about your Emmy, she was met with an automated answer, as has Elle, and I bet others too. You cannot be friends with women, but she can snuggle men, trust has to go both ways in a relationship Thomas.” She stated back to him, opening the front door. “Ready sweetheart.” He heard her call. “Tom’s car is in my way, put Mac in and we’ll take yours.”

►   GENERAL.
HEIGHT:  5′8  —  previously 5′6. After being bitten by the genetically-altered “42″ Spider, his stature is elongated by two inches. WEIGHT:  160 lbs — Miles is an ectomorph; it’s mostly maintained because of his obligatory participations in gym classes, playing basketball with the neighborhood every now and again after school, and the rare times he can sneak off for urban exploration or play around with his uncle’s punching bag. He doesn’t exactly have the greastest diet plan. ETHNICITY:  African-American && Afro-Puerto Rican. OCCUPATION:  Freelance photographer, explorer, artist, F.E.A.S.T. (Food, Emergency, Aid, Shelter, and Training) volunteer, Brooklyn Vision student, convenience store cashier, Dream Defender, and vigilante. GENDER:  Cis-male. He/him. ROMANTIC AND SEXUAL ORIENTATION:  Heterosexual & Demiromantic. MBTI:  ENFP- the champion. Miles know how to relax, and he is perfectly capable of switching from a passionate, driven idealist in the workplace to that imaginative and enthusiastic free spirit on the dance floor, often with a suddenness that can surprise even his closest friends. Being in the mix also gives him a chance to connect emotionally with others, giving him cherished insight into what motivates his friends and colleagues. He believe that everyone should take the time to recognize and express their feelings, and their empathy and sociability make that a natural conversation topic.
Few personality types are as creative and charismatic as ENFPs. Their enthusiasm and vivid imagination allow ENFPs to overcome many challenging obstacles, more often than not brightening the lives of those around them. ENFPs’ creativity is invaluable in many areas, including their own personal growth.
►   SPECIFICS.
FAVOURITE FOOD:  Pasteles, Empanada, Chicharon de pollo, Pop-Tarts, Platanos, Chopped Cheese, Nathan’s Famous’ hotdogs, Aunt Butchie’s Desserts (chocolate mousse preferably), Chinese food, and Ray’s Pizza. FAVOURITE DRINK:  He enjoys his uncle’s Whey protein drinks, but you’ll mostly see him drinking sodas, Gatorade, O.J., and water.  FAVOURITE HOBBY:  Vandal by nature, Miles loves snagging Priority Mail and Hello, My Name Is stickers to practice his art and toss his mark up wherever and whenever he can. Other than that, he plays mental gymnastics for fun when it comes to math problems. If he’s not doing that, then he’s fooling around with programs like Audacity, Sony Vegas, or FL Studio.
But the activity he feels most at peace at is when he’s isolated in his room or hanging around a building as Spiderman, writing in his journal. FAVOURITE SCENT:  Vanilla, Sandalwood, Shea Moisture Manuka and Yogurt. FAVOURITE PERSON:  Ganke. Miles never had a brother (a reality he yearned his parents make happen), but Ganke gives him an idea as to how it would be if he did have a biological brother.
►   TEN FACTS.
Miles is an only child. “Born” on December 14th, 2003.
He’s Catholic.
Adaptability comes as second nature to Miles. In two days, he managed to survive his near-death experiences as he tangled with some of the best of the original Spiderman’s villains.
Miles use to cry Martin Luther King Day because the television and radio would play clips of his speeches, and he thought sounded like a ghost.
Until he reached the age of ten, Miles had irritable bowel syndrome and would crap his pants every so often.
He owns an Atari, Sega, and Nintendo console passed down to him from his father.
One of his favorite shows is American Ninja Warrior.
Calculus is one of his favorite subjects. Numbers, symbols, and alphabets is a challenge that he can never tire from.
There’s an unshakable habit he has and that’s speaking his thoughts out loud, much to his chagrin.
His facial features mostly resemble his father and his uncle, which is can be considered a blessing and a curse, depending on the environment he’s in. Because the Davis brothers dark past had them as hustlers, stick-up kids, and graffiti artists, and their lives would take a drastic turn in where one becomes a cop and the other went on to become a boxer, the name Davis is enough to put a sour taste on the tongues of certain circles. It’s a fleeting love-hate thing he has for it.
►   FIVE THINGS HE LIKES.
VIDEO GAMES  —  Jefferson was never comfortable with sharing his questionable deeds on the streets with his son, but he was more than excited to share his childhood glory with him. He couldn’t wait until Miles was old enough to have a controller in his hand. Miles is “heir” to a collection of dated collection. He likes modern consoles too, as he does own both a XBOX ONE and PLAYSTATION 4, but he prides in being a ‘young old soul’. GRAFFITI  —  It just kind of happened? He wasn’t messing with actual spraypaint because he’s too young to cop them from Home Depot, so he stuck to just stacking up on stickers and using that until he’s legally able to buy his own. HIP-HOP  —  That’s New York. Hip-Hop was born there. Miles passionately embraces the main four elements that represents its culture: Emceeing, DJING, Graffiti Art, Breakdancing and integrates the other five in how he moves. Street fashion, language, entrepanuership, knowldge, beatboxing, Hip-Hop is something he lives.  BOXING  — We can thank Aaron for his interest in that. Aside from the man’s criminal resume, Aaron graduated from neighborhood bruiser to professional boxer. His had a impeccable record before he hung up his gloves, but the passion he had for the sport stayed with him and any chance he got with his newphew, it would show when he would spit game on the greats like Mohammad Ali, Joe Fraizer, Dixie Kid, Jack Dempsey, Tyson, and others and teach him a few of his old moves.  CLEANING SNEAKERS —  It’s nothing deep. You watch Paid in Full a couple of times and add your love for that movie to your natural love of keeping your gear fresh and you get a sneakerhead that’s addicted to keeping his kicks mean and pristine.
►   FIVE THINGS HE DISLIKES.
PEER PRESSURE  —  His hood didn’t have too many stars. There were plenty of potential there, but due to unfortunate circumstances, they make it out, but Miles—everybody regards him as the gold representation. Because of his upbringings, Miles is sort of hood royalty in a positive sense. On one hand, he enjoys it appreciation, but on the other hand, he hates it because his father doesn’t make it easy on him at all. He doesn’t judge his father for doing what he had to do in the streets to survive, but he hates his father for shoving his demons down his throat. Becoming Spiderman was nothing to leap for him to leap excitedly over either. Being stressed with being the “good son”, the “golden boy” of his neighborhood, and acing studies was enough as is. Since Peter Parker and his uncle’s murder, he felt tremendous guilt over not being able to help, and with his abilities, he feels strong on his moral obligation to do what he can to be New York’s protector. It’s not the easiest weight for a teenager to carry. E X P E C T A T I O N S! eff dem! UNDERESTIMATED  — In school, he dealt with a teacher that regarded him and kids like him as trash that would never be able to amount to anything. The Spider-gang didn’t think he had what it takes, making him feel as if he was a burden and incapable of being strong enough to keep his promise to his universe’s Peter Parker. He doesn’t do well with people acting like he can’t do anything. TALES FROM THE HOOD  — Doesn’t particularly care to hear about criminal exploits, especially the ones his family participated in. Some kids would love to hear about how hard their peers went in the street—Miles isn’t one of them. If anything, he wishes he was oblivious to it and didn’t have to hear one related word to it. That’s one thing he’s thankful for when it comes to his dad and Aaron. They never bragged or felt inclined to share gorey details and for good reason. Miles know they and everyone else want better for him. LYING —  His mama raised him to be a honest boy. His pops raised him to be a man of principle. His uncle instilled street honor in him. Other than that? Miles naturally hates lying. It doesn’t make him feel good and can actually make him a serious nervous wreck if it gets to be too much for him.  FIGHTING  —  Even though he was taught self-defense and enjoyed his boxing lessons, Miles avoided conflict as much as he could. He preferred to just be that cool guy that can make friends with the whole world and keep it pushing. He accepts that it’s unavoidable as a superhero, but that doesn’t stop him from trying to come to a peaceful resolve before the situation gets nasty.
►   WORDS / PHRASES THAT ANNOY HIM.
CLASSISM —  I know it’s not a word/phrase, so I’ll just say toxic braggadocio statements. When it comes to skin color, religion, abilities (supernatural or mortal), lienage, whatever—Miles views them all as people that share the same oxygen and should treat each other like they’re aware of that. Being made to feel like a sub-human aggravates him more than he cares to admit (he once broke his classroom desk because of his teacher constant poking at the african diaspora).
►   PERSONALITY TYPES HE PREFERS.
FREE SPIRITS —  Chilled souls; people that are down to do whatever they please (in a healthy, non-violent way), and exudes positive energy. It’s nice to be around individuals that understands what it means to have fun without restrictions and not people that live by some book like his father. You can miss him with those that feels like they have to be tight asses all the time.
►   PERSONALITY TYPES HE AVOIDS.
GOD COMPLEX —  Kingpins/drug lords/gang leaders/criminal upstarts, just people that play God in the streets, dictating who lives and dies, just because they have a gun and have a little bit of power. There’s not a doubt in his mind that there will be elements in the underworld that’s going to try to seduce him to the life. It’s a mission of his to not fall into the same darkness that stained the Davis name. You will never see Miles becoming close friends with a thug or a wannabee. He’ll try to steer them clear of it and be a moral compass of course, but having that as a part of his inner circle is a big no.

Misplaced Bag? Overbooked Flight? three Air Passenger Rights You Didn’t Know You Had
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Home and overseas air journey within the U.S. has reached an all-time excessive. Meaning airports are extra crowded, and flights are regularly delayed or overbooked.
And the worst half? Not understanding what to do when your reservation is affected.
You’re feeling just like the airline ought to compensate you to your delayed flight, however the gate agent is saying it received’t. Who’s right?
Airline passenger rights are difficult, and even frequent vacationers don’t know all of them. (I positive discovered a couple of issues whereas researching this text!)
Don’t wait till you’re on the airport, fuming, annoyed and working out of choices. Study your rights now and know what you’re entitled to when — er, if — the airline screws up your vacation journey.
Airline Passenger Rights You Might Not Know About
Having an issue along with your flights?
Per the principles and laws listed within the Division of Transportation’s Fly Rights, right here’s what to do when…
Your Flight Is Delayed or Canceled
Sadly, the federal authorities doesn’t require the airline to do something for home delays or cancellations. Should you’re touring internationally, you might be able to file for reimbursement beneath Article 19 of the Montreal Conference.
Nonetheless, many airways will supply some type of compensation within the identify of excellent customer support. If the delay is attributable to climate, they often received’t provide you with something — but when it’s a mechanical or scheduling challenge, they may.
Right here’s what to ask for:
Vouchers: Should you’re caught on the airport for a couple of hours, make sure to request meals vouchers so you may eat on the airport eating places. Should you’re delayed in a single day, ask for resort and/or taxi vouchers.  Airline miles: When you have a frequent flyer account with the airline, ask for additional miles for the inconvenience. I’ve efficiently accomplished this on a couple of events. Lounge passes: If it’s a must to be on the airport for a number of hours, ask the agent for a lounge go. I don’t know if this works, but it surely’s value a shot!
Along with the airline, have a look at your bank cards for compensation, too.
Professional Tip
Some resorts jack up costs as quickly as they discover out about journey troubles. The second you already know you’re going to be caught in a single day, guide a room to snag higher charges.
In case your flight is delayed greater than 12 hours or requires an in a single day keep, and also you paid for at the very least a portion of it along with your Chase Sapphire Most well-liked card, for instance, Chase will reimburse you as much as $500 per ticket for affordable bills like meals and lodging.
To keep away from delays and cancellations within the first place, guide flights leaving early within the day, and search for direct routes. Should you should have a connection, avoid airports which are actually busy or infamous for climate delays (e.g. Chicago O’Hare).
Your Flight Is Overbooked
Airways commonly overbook (promote extra tickets than there are seats) flights to make up for no-show passengers. Although this isn’t unlawful, it could actually trigger issues if extra individuals present up than anticipated.
When this occurs, airways ask for volunteers, providing incentives like vouchers and upgrades to entice passengers to surrender their seats. If not sufficient individuals volunteer, airways are compelled to bump some passengers towards their will.
Although it’s an enormous bummer to get involuntarily bumped, hold cool and keep in mind your rights; you might find yourself with a fairly good chunk of change.
Right here’s what you’re owed should you arrive…
Inside an hour of your scheduled time: $zero One to 2 hours late: Double the value of your ticket, as much as $675 Greater than two hours late: Quadruple the value of your ticket, as much as $1,350
Some airways could attempt to reap the benefits of you and supply airline credit score in alternate for the inconvenience. Don’t settle for this supply. And don’t signal any paperwork, because it may take away your proper to additional compensation.
Stand your floor and, if obligatory, cite this Division of Transportation web page.
Wish to scale back the chance of being bumped earlier than you even get to the airport? Examine in to your flight early (you are able to do so 24 hours earlier than your scheduled departure) and add your frequent flyer quantity to the reservation. The airline is much less more likely to bump loyal vacationers.
Your Baggage Will get Misplaced
Standing at baggage declare and by no means having your luggage present up just isn’t enjoyable.
Your first cease must be your airline’s baggage workplace. Typically baggage is available in on an earlier flight or is by chance positioned within the oversize baggage space.
Nonetheless not there? Time to ask for compensation.
Airways are required to compensate passengers for affordable bills for loss, injury or delay within the carriage of passenger baggage, in response to DOT guidelines.
Professional Tip
To assist stop misplaced baggage, put an deal with label in your bag’s clear exterior pocket and fix a baggage tag.
Every airline interprets this in another way, however basically, count on a stipend of at the very least $50 per day to spend on requirements like toiletries and clothes. Simply make sure to hold your receipts so the airline can reimburse you later.
Additionally, should you paid to your ticket or charges with a bank card, test its advantages. The Chase Sapphire Most well-liked, for instance, gives a stipend of as much as $100 per day for clothes, toiletries and charging cables when your baggage is delayed by six hours or extra.
In case your baggage will get misplaced completely, you then’ll must file a second declare. The airline should compensate you for the worth of your baggage, as much as $three,500.
One thing’s Gone Flawed, and You’ve Hit a Lifeless Finish
The very first thing I do after I’m not getting the assistance I would like? Bounce on social media. I take advantage of Twitter to clarify my scenario — and @point out the airline — and sometimes the corporate will deal with it straight away.
You may as well name the airline’s customer support line from the airport. Typically its telephone reps offers you a special reply than the gate brokers, which provides you leverage when resolving your challenge.
And please, as tough as it may be typically, all the time deal with the gate brokers with respect and endurance. Airline mishaps often aren’t their fault, they usually need to take care of a whole lot of cranky individuals. Not solely that, however you’d be stunned how far they’ll go to reward somebody who’s good.
Professional Tip
To seek out the quickest strategy to communicate to a dwell agent, merely Google “gethuman” plus the airline’s identify.
Should you do obtain nice service, don’t neglect to return the favor by submitting a remark type on the airline’s web site. Alternatively, you may submit complaints about impolite or unhelpful brokers. I’ve truly complimented and complained about completely different brokers in the identical message!
Be sure you write down data — agent names, dates and flight numbers — whereas it’s contemporary in your thoughts. You may refer again to this if you might want to contact the airline later; offering particulars all the time strengthens your case.
In case your journey is over and your grievance hasn’t been resolved, attempt AirHelp, an organization that lobbies airways on behalf of passengers who had been involuntarily bumped. Or take a look at Service, an organization that helps resolve customer support points without charge to the shopper.
No matter you do, don’t let this vacation journey season get the most effective of you. Keep calm, keep in mind your rights and search the compensation you deserve!

Toshiba Tecra Z50 Review – Laptop Parts Shop
The Tecra Z50 retains up the virtues of traditional premium office laptops: An exceptional display together with very wonderful input models,in depth security options plus a good battery day by day life – this system is slightly capable of competing with well-known leaders.Purchasers looking for any trusted office laptop computer pc while not having to take compromises in connectivity sometimes very first consider of Lenovo and HP.And considering their omnipresence, they could probably even fall topic for the perception the business does not keep excess of ThinkPads and EliteBooks. However,a appear previous these manufacturers wouldn’t harm when it comes to”higher-quality”workplace laptops as Toshiba proves. The Tecra sequence won’t attain the fame of dominating rivals, but that won’t reveal an incredible deal if something about their high quality. With Toshiba’s Tecra Z50,a trim laptop with modern Skylake innards involves us.At a really first look,it might move being a buyer Ultrabook. Therefore, externally it doesn’t show any foremost changes in distinction with all the 2014 Tecras, just like the Z50.The small print infer small enterprise attributes;to be precise, the fingerprint scanner,SmartCard slot or even the TrackPoint inside the keyboard area that quasi fulfills the part of a figurehead in relation to high-quality office laptops. Not surprisingly, this type of an image necessitates a comparability with present ThinkPad models by Lenovo. We’ve received opted in your ThinkPad T560 and its”smaller brother” L560.The ProBook 450 G3 Dell Inspiron seventeen 5748 P26E Netzteil priced at about 800 Euros represents HP within this race. All rivals have the very same processor configuration and display measurement in widespread with our evaluate sample. The Toshiba Tecra Z50 is often a fifteen.6-inch enterprise laptop that effectively finds middle ground in between an ultrabook plus a desktop-replacement notebook.
The ultrabook-class Intel Core i7 CPU Ladegerät HP 828769 001 tends to make temporary perform of each Workplace and multimedia tasks, and it has some aptitude, using a skinny and interesting metal exterior. In case you possibly can pay for the quality price tag, this highly effective laptop pc will provide you successfully, but it’s really not the most effective it’s attainable to get.
Case and Connectivity
Although the outside is simply not definitely identical to these of former fashions,Toshiba principally sticks to its distinctive type: Not merely does the silver-gray chassis on the Z50 look trendy and high-quality,in addition, it feels that means. The casing’s greater aspect and in addition the input system location hardly produce underneath strain, the show bezel is robust, together with the show hinges are pulled tightly sufficient to stop even the slightest rocking. The 300 grams of added excess weight in distinction with all of the predecessor Sony Vaio SVE1512N1ESI SVE1512N1RB Netzteil have definitely benefited the general stability, whereas it requires its toll on mobility.Having stated that, the system continues to be belongs among the many lighter associates of its type with a extra weight of two.1 kilograms. The evaluation pattern’s connectivity is generous.4 USB 3.0 ports are current, however modern ports for example USB three.one or DisplayPort have been omitted in favor of the”basic”HDMI and VGA-out.DisplayPort may be additional by way of a port replicator that’s definitely related for the docking port around the underside. The 200-Euro progress additionally presents 4 additional USB 3.0 ports and hold monitor of outlets amongst different points. The Tecra can connect in the direction of the surface world with both a cabled Gbit Ethernet or wi-fi by way of a Wi-Fi adapter provided by Intel that permits a highest gross info Asus ADP-65GD B PA-1650-78 EXA1203YH Netzteil tempo of 867 Mbps.Due to the 2×2 antenna configuration, the sign stays strong, even over for a longer interval distances in the direction of the router. Our Z50 consists of all security traits that will probably be anticipated from the premium office pocket book.A SmartCard reader, fingerprint scanner,TPM module edition 2.0 and the obligatory Kensington lock slot are current. An oddity:An accelerometer that detects drops and shocks is put in.Along with the”HDD Protection”software, the arduous drive’s read/write head is positioned inside a protected position to stop knowledge reduction ensuing from a head crash.Nonetheless,no method features an ordinary difficult push inside the latest Z50 collection. The preloaded Residence home windows seven Skilled won’t seem as outdated on nearer examination. The prolonged help for House home windows seven will proceed till 2020,plus the working technique will possible be made use of in many suppliers till then.Their IT departments may be equally as delighted in regards to the put in traditional working system Medion Erazer X7611 17.three Netzteil as some users.Purchasers who need to be slightly extra up-to-date can merely set up Residence home windows ten Expert that could be around the included DVD.
The keyboard is comprised of 102 keys, attributes a chiclet type, and it includes a quantity pad.Hence,it’s slightly much more plainly organized compared to the keyboard of Toshiba’s Tecra Z50 exactly the place the number pad is mapped on the character keys and needs to be accessed by the use of the FN key. The keyboard Lenovo Delta ADP-90XD B Ladegerät also features a white backlight.Although it may possibly’t be dimmed,it might be utterly enabled or disabled.Additionally it is possible to activate it by urgent a essential, and it then stays on for fifteen seconds after the last enter. The typing really feel is sort of equal to that within the Tecra Z50.The keys possess a superb drop but solely ship incredibly small suggestions and, for our taste, insufficient resistance. However, functioning easily and calm with the keyboard is probable owing for the bigger essential peak and wider spacing amongst the keys. You’ll find so many unique capabilities mapped as being a mixture using the FN crucial around the keyboard that the F1 – F12 keys are often not enough. For causes of higher accessibility working with one specific hand, the F10,F11 and F12 keys would not have a double task.Using the three and four keys together together with the FN essential controls Sony KDL-42W705B Ladegerät the quantity. The consumer very first has to accumulate used to that just earlier than accepting it.We take pleasure in it when as little as you probably can is composed around the keys for clearness causes. Thus,Toshiba should actually have maybe reconsidered the usefulness of several additional capabilities. The touchpad is carried out like a ClickPad,and we at present found it a bit also inaccurate in Toshiba’s Tecra Z50.Contemplating that your complete space, which includes the built-in buttons,is contact sensitive, drag and fall,by means of example,is usually troublesome to hold out.To develop into trustworthy we’ve got to say that the ClickPad in Toshiba’s Tecra Z50 functioned remarkably nicely, and each included keys provide wonderful options over the keystroke.Aside from that, two actual buttons Asus W15-065N1B Ladegerät that would even be utilized are situated above the touch-sensitive surface. That wants somewhat of familiarization however performs properly afterward. Why the buttons have already been positioned above the ClickPad  Since they principally belong to the TrackPoint which can also be set up.Symbols which let disabling the touchpad or opening”Toshiba Eco Utility” are situated in each larger corners.Double tapping triggers every and features incredibly reliably.Because of the reality the TrackPoint was initially invented by IBM for ThinkPads,Toshiba had to contact its TrackPoint”Accupoint.”Nevertheless, its precept may be the exact same: A smaller, blue stick juts out on the keyboard amongst G,H and B,on which a finger Dell Latitude 3590 Ladegerät is positioned. The mouse cursor may be managed remarkably accuratelyvia the slightest motion. Those that’ve utilized a TrackPoint will barely want to return for the touchpad.
Display
In distinction to the Tecra Z50,the display already scores Dell Latitude e5570 e5470 P62G Netzteil with its up-to-date Full Hd decision. The matte,Toshiba-built display is executed in a 16:9 structure, and it’s in accordance with the IPS know-how so that good viewing angles ought to be achievable. The typical brightness is roughly on par using the contenders;the illumination is greater than all different merchandise in the comparability discipline. The most brightness drops in battery technique.Colors often look relatively paler on matte screens than on glare versions.Nevertheless,we subjectively likedthe display’s distinction and color copy. The excellence ratio is in actuality superior than in pretty much all comparison merchandise.Solely Fujitsu’s Lifebook E754 encompasses a higher price than the 750:one of Toshiba’s Tecra Z50.It’s additionally very low enough to point out black surfaces in a truly darkish hue and with out gray haze.We get rather more complete outcomes of shade copy by inspecting the present utilizing the colorimeter and CalMAN pc software. Here,we see that notably yellow colours are shown as nicely intensely which different colors have as nicely several yellow elements.Except for yellow and orange most colors, then again, solely deviate marginally within the splendid value with the sRGB reference shade room so that the colour copy is general satisfactory. The show won’t be appropriate for specialist image and on-line video editors;the protection of the certified shade area is just additionally low.Daylight would wish to glow straight around the display in order that completely nothing is often acknowledged. The brightness Lenovo Yoga 3 Professional-1370 Ladegerät is satisfactory to carry out inside the park or on the terrace even on brighter occasions. The matte end that reduces reflections contributes to that considerably.Pretty broad viewing angles are ensured from the IPS know-how on which the display is based. While the brightness alterations when going to the edges or when tilting the show forwards and backwards,it really continues to be achievable to know content material material even from very flat angles. However, the vertical viewing angles Dell Latitude E6410 E6420 Netzteil are relatively wider than toward the edges, which isn’t inevitably a downside. In any case, who needs the individual contained in the seat beside them across the coach to review important enterprise e-mail
Performance
Elements on the Tecra Z50 embrace things like an Intel Core i7-4600U processor,8GB of DDR3 program reminiscence,Intel High definition 4400 Graphics, plus the 256GB SSD.Collectively, they make the system quick to open apps and respond to changing tasks, like working on spreadsheets, databases,or substantial Time period paperwork. The laptop computer pc did effectively on on PCMark7,a verify of day-to-day utilization and efficiency. It had been within hanging size of the Dell e7440 Contact and in addition the HP EliteBook Folio 1040 G1.Multimedia scores have been fairly nice additionally, because of the Intel Primary i7 processor. The score of four minutes 43 seconds around the Adobe Photoshop CS6 check splits Apple A1021 M8943LL A Ladegerät the distinction involving the HP Elitebook along with the Dell Latitiude. That stated, the true powerhouse on Photoshop could be the Apple 15-inch MacBook Pro.The Tecra Z50’s battery lasted seven hrs on our battery rundown check. That’s good, despite the fact that the Dell e7440 Touch lasted for an extended time, and the MacBook Pro is the champ at eight:fifty two. With considered use of rest mode, the Tecra Z50 must ultimate an outstanding supply of the small business day on a one value. The Toshiba Tecra Z50 just fulfills ultrabook requirements, even though the method isn’t promoted as one specific. In contrast with all the enterprise ultrabook Editors’Selection, the Dell Latitude e7440 Contact,it puts inside a wonderful displaying, nevertheless the Dell program in the long run comes out prematurely, because of its MIL-SPEC ruggedization, brighter and clearer In-Aircraft Switching show, and touch show.Among business-oriented desktop-replacement notebooks, the Tecra Z50 as soon as more locations inside an awesome battle, nevertheless the reigning Editors’Selection Apple MacBook Professional ultimately retains on because of its higher-than-1080p Hd resolution display,a lot better general efficiency remaining outcomes on our multimedia benchmark exams, and its two extra hrs of battery way of life. This makes the Tecra Z50 a lovely and potent large-screen laptop, successfully inside the pack, nipping at the heels from the Dell Latitude and Apple MacBook Skilled. The stereo speakers in the Tecra are practical, but no rather more.By default, the audio is tinny and virtually utterly void of basses. The audio might be clearly improved by way of the appliance equalizer Dell Latitude E7470 Ladegerät along with a tiny experimenting, nevertheless it remains”forceless”.Connecting superior headphones or external audio system in the direction of the audio jack is actually a ought to for nice audio enjoyment.
Bottom Line
I really feel it’s fairly telling that after i was on the lookout for brilliant locations to highlight on the Z50,its minimal temperature was among the first points that jumped to mind. The Z50 feels identical to the tech model of phoning it in,because of the reality even though it doesn’t possess a bunch of serious flaws,it doesn’t get observed in any approach.Dell’s XPS 15 contains a significantly lower starting worth, additional options for personalization, and in addition a slick, lightweight design and elegance that you’re going to wish to show off to other individuals. Then, there’s the Asus ZenBook Professional UX501VW,that has almost double the graphics energy, improved appears and more time battery life, all for you’ll spend to the Z50.So,in the event you’re inside the market place for any robust 15-inch multimedia machine, maintain the XPS fifteen along with the ZenBook Professional in thoughts, and take a look at the Z50 solely in case your IT department Lenovo IdeaPad 110-17ACL 80UM Netzteil forces you to undoubtedly.
Verdict
Toshiba’s Tecra Z50 makes an much more complete impact than the smaller Tecra Z50model.To start with,it options a higher-quality show with broader viewing angles, larger resolution, and more accurate colour duplicate. Then, functioning utilizing the keyboard is further snug although the dangerous keystroke strategies shouldn’t be going to be good for certified typists. The chapters about temperature improvement, sounds diploma, and energy are completed exemplary;there’s definitely completely nothing to be reproached there. The speakers might perhaps be slightly louder, nevertheless they’re or else extremely satisfactory to get a company laptop computer pc.The ClickPad was useless, and the reality that the battery can’t be changed within the outdoor can be a small disadvantage.Nonetheless, the purchaser gets a very high-quality casing that’s trim and relatively lightweight.Beyond that,it is correctly designed and rigid. The vary of interfaces and the stability of your wireless connections are additionally excellent. The open-ended settlement for the Tecra Z50 should really thus turn into a constructive point in many firms.Personal customers which might be prepared to spend the steep price tag for a first-rate laptop can even unhesitatingly bind themselves to get a more time period.

Week 2: The 4 Eras of Leadership & the Church Tag-a-long
Daft, R. (2017). The Leadership Experience (7th ed., pp. Chapter 2). Boston, MA: Cengage Learning.
At some point in my life, the time might come to nail my “95 Thesis” to the proverbial door of the charismatic church, however, that day is not (I repeat, not) today. Also, it wouldn’t really count for anything because I’m a woman, right? Either way, in any form of organisation, there will always be strengths and flaws. There should also be a goal of maximising strengths and minimising weaknesses. With this understanding, as well as the fact that the church is a form of organisation, for the reasons that it is a collective of people with a common goal or objective – and just like any other company, not everyone completely understands or is working towards this goal or set of goals.
The four era’s of leadership are what was covered this week in the leadership lecture and follow the cultural and societal understanding of what relationships should be in a workplace, which is all very heavily influenced by research being done at the time. I aim to briefly summarise key factors of each era and point out how the church has followed the notion (though in some cases in a delayed fashion) and how the church could benefit from moving along into the current era of leadership as it fits more within the doctrine and values of the Christian faith. As far as organisational experience goes, the church is an organisation where I have been both extremely involved and barely there in all kinds and manner of churches and therefore my experience with it is a resource I can draw upon to reflect on these theories.
Era 1: Maybe He’s Born With It, Maybe It’s Lazy Thinking.
Era 1 is rife with the kind of leadership theories that now circulate amongst the common man, theories that leaders have particular traits (a set of personality characteristics that remain stable over time) that make them good leaders, be it the magnetic personalities, the inspiring orators, the confident or gregarious socialites, the social climbers, or the accolade trophy-hunters. In our own minds, we most likely have reflected on a particular authority in our lives and deemed them a good or bad leader (and perhaps have later on become disillusioned). In terms of singular leaders that have been able to mobilise large groups of people through charismatic tendencies and emotional or moral appeals, one would call to mind the preachers of the 17th through 19th century. Charismatic leaders would include Martin Luther who pioneered the Protestant Reformation, challenging the most powerful organisation of the time (the Roman Catholic Church);  John and Charles Wesley, who traveled around preaching to the masses in the Methodist Revival as well as George Whitfield who lead the Great Revival in America; 19th century had the Third Great Awakening with the likes of D. L. Moody, William Booth, and Charles Spurgeon, all of these men are revered, well-known, and frequently quoted to this day. They lead big movements, where people’s lives were impacted and forever changed.
However in the 20th century moving forward, the dangers of charismatic leadership was evidenced and shocked the masses in cases such as Hitler in Nazi Germany, Stalin in Communist Russia, and all the other tyranny of dictatorship. Mega-churches and celebrity pastors began to spring up, more and more emulating the celebrity lifestyle of Hollywood. More information was accessible which meant that big name preachers hosting evangelist crusades were caught out for scamming their congregants, money scandals were more public, as were moral failures. And while for the most part, there are many mega-churches that are decently run, the great man theory can be traced to the smallest of churches, where the leaders are not to be questioned, but rather their vision is to be championed and followed without question, unfortunately. Another problem is that one of the characteristics believed to be particular leaders was being male, as has been the case for centuries of the Western civilisation’s belief, however as Era 2’s contingency theories so aptly highlight, there may be certain cases in a church context where a woman is the best person to lead, On the surface level, this seems contrary to biblical teachings, but once cultural factors are taken into consideration, as well as context and understanding the heart and nature of decisions made and advice was given, it is not necessarily country to Scriptural Doctrine for women to be in positions of leadership (unless of course, they really aren’t allowed to be as near to God, or hear from Him, or something of that nature). Looking at the theories of good followership, it is easy to see how charismatic leadership without a good understanding of relational  necessity can be a poison of its own – the followers are not encouraged to think critically which already puts the organisation at a disadvantage, as well as that when the leader does make a significant mistake, which will most likely happen, followers, are forced to rationalise or justify the mistake or to come to the conclusion that this pastor is not a leader because he has acted contrary to the characteristics of a leader.
Era 2: Checkboxes and Metal Cages
Era 2 of leadership is comprised of far more precise procedures, where as much as there is talk of people oriented versus task oriented, people, in this era, are a task and must be measured in distance and handled theoretically. The two main themes to emerge from this era are the behaviour theories and the contingency theories. The behaviour theories  are evidenced in such as the Leader-Member Exchange theory (LMX)  where a unique relationship should be created with each follower, where an orientation must be selected between autocratic or democratic, boss-centric or subordinate-centric, as well as the dimensions of fit, where the contingency must be managed by the appropriate style of leadership. The aim of relational engagement is to direct, control and ultimately manage behaviour. What perhaps leaders still do not completely fully comprehend is that there needs to be room for one leader to respond in different styles to different people in different situations. I grew up in a church culture where there was a great deal of encouragement for leaders to form relationships with new members in an effort to reduce church turnover. This included the then innocent “coffee” which has now become a euphemism for rebuke, berating, voicing disapproval. I grew up in an era where welcome teams were sent out and instructed to speak to new people, and as a result, I have found a million and one ways to ask teenagers about school (what are you studying? what is your favourite subject? what is your favourite part about that subject? what do you want to do after school? where have you thought about studying? what extra-murals do you do? what subjects are you going to choose in grade 10?).
Nothing good happens over forced conversation, but the mission or task was relationships, and so structures and systems were established to force relationships, which as can be imagined never became real friendships, as can be imagined. Building relationships is a good thing, but building relationships out of duty or obligation often is more damaging than helpful because there is little to no authenticity or genuine interest in the relationship. In fact, both task-oriented leadership and people oriented leadership are necessary, they’re not opposites, they’re dimensions and each serves their own role in when they are useful. There needs to be a boss-centric approach towards God, and a subordinate-centric approach towards congregants, there needs to be trust built and treatment as equal, as well as a strong focus on the mission and vision of the Christian faith, there needs to be an intentional partnership and a spirit of inclusion. With the LMX theory, there can often become in-groups and out groups, and in church one of the biggest complaints I’ve ever heard in my life is that church is “cliquey”, which is exactly that. There forms a pattern where leaders form close relationships with people that they like and obligatory hierarchical relationships with those that need to be “check on” but aren’t favourable to the leader. Not only is this a terrible leadership practice for the good of the organisation, but it’s also very contrary to what Jesus modelled, where he had the capacity for close relationships with 3 disciples but did not alienate the other 9. His relationship with each was different, but there was no ingroup or outgroup, and all were treated with dignity, respect and value.
The contingency part of Era 2 requires attention to be paid to the situations that are arising and a commitment to addressing the problems and meeting needs in the best way possible, not in the most comfortable way or in the oldest way. Sometimes organisations and even churches need to be restructured or step out in a new area to meet a need or address a problem that is new and unknown territory, such as the Pokemon Go players that went to churches to find virtual Pokemon. Some churches responded to this and offered refreshments, as well as using it as an opportunity to engage with these people that would not normally be at a church. If the chain of the command is too complicated, the bureaucracy can get in the way of necessary decisions being made and contingencies cannot be adequately addressed. The best way to be a contingency adept church is to focus on empowering congregant sand building relationships of trust where anyone can take initiative and receive necessary support because they are a part of a community. The contingency theory places a big emphasis on the situation, and too often churches don’t. Church leaders can be so convinced that their way of running a church is right because it’s the only way they know, and they don’t think to look at possible systemic or structural improvements that can be made to adjust to the environment – this often leading to detrimental situations. It could also mean that in a situation where the pastor is beyond their depth, they can call on the help of another congregant that is better equipped to handle the situation because of personal insight into strengths and weaknesses. This also allows for engagement with congregants on whatever level they are ready to engage in and at whatever maturity they are at. This can become a problem as there are no recruitment procedures or handing in of CVs. There should be a conscious effort from the leadership to find out about new people, to know their life story, and where they’re at, otherwise, the relationship becomes a task and can often lead to acting in a condescending or inappropriate manner. At first, relationships might be more transactional, but a leader should always be willing to learn, even from the least of these.
Era 3: Entropy
Like a ship, the organisation has to sail, and in a time of rapid change and movement, of international crises and disruptions in long-term strategies and understanding of the world, the company can other be viewed as a ship on calm waters where storms occasionally arise at which point steps have to be taken to get back to status quo, or the ship could be on rough and stormy seas, where the organisation has to constantly grow, learn, evolve and re-evaluate. The era saw the emergence of the team leader, or the change leader and influence theory, where it was no longer the job of a leader to manage people within an existing system, but to recreate the system and the culture to best suit the people and achieved intended goals through greater empowerment, diversity, teamwork, and expertise. I remember the drastic culture shock I got when I moved from Cape Town and had to assimilate into the church music band. I had gone from a very autocratic leadership style, where when we arrived two hours before the meeting for practice, we would be handed a list of songs we had never heard before and we would be given specific direction on how to play it. However, the new team was more team-leadership oriented, which was new for me and took a lot of readjustment to get used to. The thing is, team leadership only works when you trust your team members. It is only profitable when you can acknowledge the strengths of your team members and follow them in certain sections. I remember one particular instance where I had to run with a song and I wanted to use a particular musical rhythmic style for it, which the drummer insisted did not exist. It was a very difficult conflict, as I was the most educated musician on the team, and I knew for a fact that it did exist, but the drummer who perhaps had more experience asserted that it did not. This is a small example, but it tends to happen a lot. With a rapidly changing environment, the only way to escape domineering and authoritarian leaders is to trust each other as a team and allow people space to exercise their strengths as it will be of great benefit to everyone in the long run.
Reminiscent of the great man theories is the charismatic leadership that emerged at this point in the influence theories. which as previously discussed is wonderful for mobilising people, but can be detrimental, such as when a pastor makes quick changes between visions and never sees the previous one to completion because it doesn’t work right away, which I have seen with church mission, vision, direction, affiliation, and it means that the church as a whole always comes up short changed because they never give the ideas time to develop into practice and momentum. Team leadership is important and too often in church goes under the guise of team leadership, but in fact becomes a manipulation. With the charismatic (it’s in the name) church’s complete rejection of any of the traditional churches, they believe they have rid themselves of the hypocrisy of religion, when really, as Jesus pointed out, it is a heart issue and not a case of behaviour, but intention. These, of course, are often interrelated, but too often, the self-righteousness, the empty actions, the living behind a facade and putting on a show is still present even in charismatic churches. And the problem when there is this kind of masquerade is that the truth can never be told for what it is, because critical thinking is viewed as insubordination, and pointing out a lack of foresight in the inspiring vision of the charismatic leader results in victimisation, alienation, and excommunication. The danger of influence theories in the same boat as team leadership is that sometimes this charade can occur and practically nothing can be done that will not cause more damage than good. Where there is a team, there must be humility, and those are some of the most beautiful characteristics to see in a church body. We are assured that there will be more and more rapid change, and the only way we as a church can survive that is if we start trusting each other's abilities to contribute and add value.
Era 4: Imagine...
The age of relational leadership theory, on the mutual benefit of both leader and follower based on their relationship and influence on one other, where leadership is a function, not a status. How I long for a church that fully embraces the tenets of this fourth era that really are so in line with their doctrine. I long to see humble leaders become caught up in something greater and beyond themselves and to take others to that river of refreshment and revelation. I long for an era of no mirrors! No place for leaders to catch their own reflection so as to become proud and let power corrupt them. I long for a time where there is the openness to constant experimentation, learning and change in the building process, where rules and control are far from any relationships that take place. Where expectations are those of love, respect, and kindness, where hearts and filled with grace more and more – far beyond rational management or even team leadership. I long for a time when the church will stop breeding emotionally immature people that don’t know how to have boundaries due to the constant rules and expectations that have been set for them and with which they have been threatened. When emotionally mature adults can function, make decisions without constant supervision and conspiracy, but rather that trust is built and fostered, where young people are empowered. I long for the emotional maturity of engaging with people genuinely, of actually supporting them and being there for them when they are going through a difficult time and not just rambling off the quickest google search results for appropriate bible verse, where leaders engage because they truly are interested in building a relationship with you, not because of a formula of people management. I long for a time where there is freedom to make mistakes, confess mistakes, and have a genuine community rally around to assist and support in overtones mutual growth and learning. For a religion that follows a characteristically relational God, that is so deeply and profoundly invested and so intimately connected to our lives, we treat each other so very badly in the church – and maybe that’s because leaders “are never wrong”, or that you have to be of a certain age or status or gender to submit any theory or revelation or question or criticism that is deemed “valid”. I long for the day where I can walk into a new church and find a brother and a sister, on a different road to the same destination as I am, with unity of heart and spirit, and not have to work my way up the church ladder for 5 years before people will take my faith seriously. We need to start viewing people as people, each with their own stories, own struggles and own journeys, all of which are good and beautiful and can be a good part of the community towards a glorious hope. When will be become more inclusive of the family? Imagine a church that places all the measure of its leadership effectiveness on a “relational process that meaningfully engages all participants and enables each person to contribute to achieving the vision”…
