It's frustrating how the familiar voice eases the tension running through him, just a little. "It's fine."

"Let me see."

Cool fingers grasp his chin, turning his head not-so-gently to the side. "Lemme guess. Right hook?"

"He was drunk."

"You should hit back."

Danny opens his eyes. "Is that what you'd do?"

Brown eyes flecked with gold. A smile tinged with recklessness and just the faintest hint of anger, always simmering underneath. "Fucking right."

SLICE OF LIFE. the story i have with aspen+august+danny is literally just like. a mini series of them living together. it’s just a weird guy who lives kinda near the woods and their two adopted kids just. going about life. it’s a bit more in depth with that cause danny is Like That but it’s really just about him adjusting to living with aspen and august and unlearning all the Bad Shit from his childhood. i care them. also in a perfect world id make a visual novel type game about them and also an animated series. life could be a dream

not these ones… in the aforementioned visual novel that exists in my brain there is a potential ending that is the Bad Ending but it wouldn’t be “canon” to their actual story
