Huntmaster Linore Featherbow, the Stars' Fury

my BESTIE. she's a marksmanship hunter + a huntmaster :) she wields thori'dal because i can do whatever i want. teehee. she's transfem and bisexual and a horse girl. dw about it

she's very, uh, stable? i guess? firm and grounded, more logical than emotional. she's very gentle, though, which is why she works so well with her horses. she's honest and forgiving, though not to the point of being spineless. she didn't have strong feelings toward the horde until uh. well. You Know. and now she's more distrustful than she feels comfortable with. she's an amazing tactician and a great leader, though sometimes she's a little more cautious than her position demands, and sometimes it saves her ass. depends on the day. :)

she grew up learning skinning/leatherworking from her father, who was a talented leatherworker working in darnassus. her parents were relatively overprotective, so she wasn't allowed to go out hunting with her father for a long time, despite her keen interest in it. she'd work with him in the shop though, and has a great love and respect for the craft. eventually, when she got older, she finally talked her parents into letting her go, and she honed her skill with the intention to eventually take over for her father.

unfortunately, uh! both of her parents died in the fire. so . she had to do that earlier than expected.

she also had a childhood friend named maven (seb's oc!) who had a huge crush on her, and they were very close. she never realized she had feelings for him until she found him washed up on the beach as teldrassil was burning, nearly dead and horribly wounded, and everything came crashing down on her so so bad. it makes me so crazy. i love them

Soulreaper Linestelle Deathweaver, Deathlord of the Ebon Blade

ooooh girl who died and came back wrong for realsies. she's a blood death knight (despite looking like a frost dk lol she's taking after her dad!) and a deathlord. she wields the maw of the damned. you just so happened to ask about a couple of my champions LOL

she's a butch lesbian and should be much beefier than she is in game. she was killed and subsequently raised as a dk during the attack on silvermoon. she was in her late teens, and completely lost her memory, becoming a mindless soldier. she was adopted by koltira (hence the last name) shortly after he broke free from arthas, and then was adopted by thassarian by extension. she was scared, and the two of them took pity on her and took her in.

in her former life prior to becoming a dk, she had a bit of a romance going with a girl in silvermoon who survived the attack (one of my other ocs who is less developed and isn't listed on the carrd. her name is auridel though!). linestelle completely forgot her because she lost her memory, but auridel Did Not forget her, and actively hates her because she thinks she ran away and left her, instead of, yknow, Dying And Losing Her Memory. they were kind of toxic yuri. auridel is rommath's apprentice now if that gives you any idea as to Her character KJSHDKDHSKD

personality-wise, linestelle doesn't really have much of one anymore. she lost a lot of the personality she had before losing her memory, so nowadays she's kind of flat-affect most of the time. she used to be hotheaded and some of that comes out when she fights, because she's Super easy to rile up in a fight, but outside of that she's rarely emotive and tends to keep to herself. if you knew her before, she'd hardly be recognizable now. the only person who can get her to smile, even a little, is thassarian. with bad dad jokes. :) the only time you'd find her laughing is if she's tearing a zombie apart or something.

oh, also, she looks after invincible now. they're friends. :)

anyway, i like her a lot. i like her so much. linestelle my friend. can you tell i love thassarian and koltira also. sorry about that

Linore and Hartwigs's marriage was one that was more out of political/social reasons, rather than genuine love. 

Hartwig's father was a successful businessman running for a political office, and the family considered it advantageous for him to be married. As the only son of the family, it was only right for them to marry their son off to someone with a similar level of power over the public. 

Enter Linore Astéri. 

Linore was a successful young actress originally from Greece. Yet, she took on the Transatlantic accent flawlessly in public. And in private, she adopted a southern belle persona that made men's knees weak. 

Their parents got to talking - as did the two of them.

And while there were five years of difference between them, they got along quite well. 

They were wed nearly a year after first meeting, and the birth of their eldest son soon followed. As did their second.

And nearly six years later, so did a pair of twins. 

And in the public eye, they were the perfect model of a family.

But, what the public sees very rarely is the full picture.

Elspeth and Elliot sat nervously in the hospital waiting room. They didn't quite know how to settle; their nerves grew more tense with every passing doctor, every announcement over the speakers, every nurse on their break.

A ring of pearls hung around the filly's neck. She lifted each bead nervously and looked it over before going onto the next. This little ritual kept her sane as she tried to pass the time in the hallway.

Finally, the silence was cut by their father walking out of a bedroom. Hartwig looked between his two children. Elspeth's gaze averted to the floor, whilst Elliot cast his eyes to a poster on health and diet.

"Your mother is up, if you want to see her," he said coolly, ignoring the fear in his children's eyes.

The two got up from their seats and followed him into their mother's hospital room. It was small and cramped and reminded her too much of the closets back home.

In bed, with bandages wrapped around her skull, sat Linore Windroe - the most gorgeous pegasus in the world.

Usually, Elspeth loved to see her mother, but on such a day, it felt like being at a funeral.

"Hello, love," she stretched a hoof out to Hartwig. "Where are we?"

"The hospital, Linny," he reminded her. "You needed that… operation."

"I did?" She asked shakily. "Did it go well?"

"Swimmingly."

Elspeth and Elliot quickly exchanged nervous glances. 

Linore's wings flapped absentmindedly. Hartwig shot her a glare and she immediately stopped the action.

"Remember, my love, the doctor says that you can't fly again."

"I can't?" Linore asked. "Why?"

"The surgery to help your brain be happy again messed with your motor skills," Hartwig said, condescendingly. "You could hurt yourself."

Linore nodded and mumbled an "I remember" under her breath. Then, she turned to Elliot and Elspeth.

"Who've you brought with you?"

"You remember our darling children, don't you?"

"Of course, our little Elsa, and my darling Ezra. My eldest, my pride and joy."

Elliot froze. 

"It's Elliot, my dear," Hartwig chided. "You remember what happened a few years back… Ezekiel passed away. He was very ill."

"Oh, he did?" She asked shakily. "Well, at least I have my dearest little Elsa here, don't I?"

Elspeth tensed and swung her tail nervously.

"Her name is Elspeth, Linny," Hartwig explained. "Not Elsa."

"Oh my, simple mistake to make."

"Indeed." Elspeth fidgeted with her pearls.

"What remarkable jewels," Linore stared blankly at her daughter. "You'll wear them a lot, I imagine."

Names in The Paper World Society Pt. 2: The Siinri Islands

There is a distinct difference between female and male Siinri names, where only female names can use the vowels ‘a’ and ‘e’ and only male names can use the vowels ‘o’ and ‘u.’ The ‘i’ is the neutral vowel, sometimes called the divine vowel. Both male and female names can use ‘i’ as long as there are other vowels present, but they cannot have the double ‘i.’ 

Every name has one set of double vowels (ex. ‘ee’ or ‘oo’), indicating which syllable is emphasized. So, the names “Ceela” and “Celaa” are pronounced differently and are distinct from each other. Human names can’t have the double ‘i’ because emphasis can’t be placed on the divine vowel in a human name. The double ‘i’ is reserved for gods, who are all genderless and don’t use the other four vowels. The name of the people, the Siinri, comes from their mother goddess, who shares the name. Each of the islands is named after its patron god.

Another strange quirk of Siinri names is that names with only one type of vowel are considered to be nobler sounding; though, many think this tradition is elitist. Most people with single-vowel names come from wealthy families in major cities, and you are unlikely to find names like “Puluu” or “Naanra” among the lower classes or rural people. An untrained ear might hear “Puluu” and “Puloo'' as the same name, but anyone who grew up on one of the islands would note the distinctly elegant sound of the former.

The Siinri do not have last names and will typically introduce themselves with their name and their hometown. Sometimes, when speaking to a foreigner, they will introduce themselves by their home island rather than their hometown. Some may even use the name of their home island as a last name, but this is frowned upon because it requires using the double ‘i’ in one’s name.

Jack: mother murdered, father gouged out eyes. Abused.

Jane: parents murdered.

Kit: adopted at birth.

Bentley: grew up not knowing biological father. Abused by mother and her partner.

Olly: mother died of cancer in youth.

Names in The Paper World Society Pt.1: Stranginar

There are many root names in Stranginar that are combinations of two name parts, which are often kept in the family and mixed and matched to create new names. Name parts can go in any order, but every name has two of them. All name parts are between two and four letters, but sometimes they may be altered when forming a root name. It is interesting that the country name is also made up of name parts “stran” and “gine.” Stran means foothills and gine means people, so together they mean “foothill people” or “people of the foothills.” Giving your child one of these two name parts is considered especially patriotic

There are no “male” or “female” names in Stranginar. This is primarily because the Strangine language does not have gendered nouns and the name parts are all nouns, so any combination of name parts is, in theory, ungendered. Still, there are name parts and root names that are more popular for one gender or the other.

On top of all of this, the Strangine are a very superstitious people who will drop, add, or swap random letters when naming their children so that witches cannot curse them. Sometimes the letters dropped, added, or swapped are random, but as people have become less superstitious, they have chosen to modify the names so that they’ll still be recognizable. Still, despite this progressive turn, the Strangine never spell their names out loud but will write them out because witches supposedly can’t read. Family members will also all spell their last name differently so that even if one of them slips and spells their name out loud, a witch wouldn’t be able to curse the rest of the family.
