You didn't specify who, so I'll use my main, Zas:

1. Why did they pick their first class/job? What about the job they main now?

So, there are two answers to this, lol. In Zas's backstory, she started as a marauder because she was living within LL, and the farmers she was working for handed her one and taught her a few things to protect the livestock (she'd been using a sling prior to that.) Later she became a merc and fought with that axe for 5 years before coming back to LL at the beginning of ARR.

As far as her main now, bard, she's a duskwight, and archery to her is a wildwood thing. Her people left the Shroud rather than assimilate to the dominant wildwood culture (and we all know that no one would ever forget they were duskwight anyway) or become bandits, so taking up archery never occurred to her until she finished her job as Merlwyb's envoy in Gridania, and was at loose ends. On a whim, she applied and found the guildmaster, Luciane, friendlier than she expected. Then she met Silvairre (and anyone who's played an archer has encountered his bigotry.) All of the resentment she had learned as a child for wildwood elezen boiled up and she decided she would master the bow to spite him (spite's a wonderful thing, lol.) But she still fought as a marauder most of the time, until she met Jehantal, and suddenly the pieces fell into place and she never looked back.

As it actually happened in-game? I always delete my first OC and restart after I've got the feel of a new game. So I picked a race and job I didn't expect to like---elf and archer, lol. I actually planned to replace Zas with a Roe marauder, then discovered that ffxiv writes fascinating elves with all of humanity's problems. And I really liked the way she looked. See above for reactions to Silvairre, lol. Spite is a wonderful thing. Then bard turned out to be exactly my style of play.

5. What is the first impression most people have of them? Is it different when they get to know them?

It's situational. Ordinarily, they think she's quiet, serious, unflappable, and she doesn't seem like their idea of a famous warrior. If they see her first in action as a bard though (performing or in combat), she seems completely self-confident, articulate, with music like a force of nature.

When they get to know her? She is quiet, but laughs at practical jokes, lacks self-confidence except as a bard or in combat, and is very much NOT unflappable when it comes to Merlwyb. In fact the entire city of Limsa Lominsa knows that Merlwyb can fluster her instantly. And cackle over the relationship between their admiral and their bard. Including betting pools...

16. What kinds of weather do they like and dislike? Do they handle heat or cold better?

She thrives in hot or warm humid or rainy weather. She's OK with cool weather if she's dressed for it. She struggles with desert climates a little (not enough humidity,) and almost wilts in the cold. She hates blizzards and tropical storms/hurricane/heavy lightning storms. (In fact, over time, all of the Scions come to realize that one of Zas's few fears are lightning or hurricane-like storms. Made her battle with Ramuh particularly difficult.) While she grew to love Ishgard, Ishgard and Garlemald have her least favorite climates, and she bundles up heavily any time she visits either, lol.

When Bard syncs with Dark Knight - 2

There's a hell for people like me. If you know what's coming they're coming. Blame /thank Master Jehantel and FFX-2 Yuna for this. I need to unlock Summoner and Dancer eventually.

Only because I thought Byakko lutebow is a shamisen and not a erhu... although Erhu has the bow... Excuse me while I go reference my Wuxia past lives. Granted she is bard and she can do both. I blame Nameless from Storm Riders and my shamisen battlemage(Viera retainer's OC who took a page from Nameless and some Avatar traveling bards) for causing this confusion.

The thing about writing the Kingsglaive/my Glaive OCs, Noctis, and Ignis is really just how much of varying types of disabilities I get to write.

Noctis canonically has depression, PTSD, and chronic fatigue syndrome; his knee and back never fully recovered from the daemon attack of his childhood. Ignis is heavily scarred and blind in Verse 1 (and just heavily scarred in Verse 2). All of the Glaives have PTSD because how could they not. Nyx is so visibly depressed it hurts. Libertus dealt with an addiction to painkillers in the movie. There's so much going on.

Vren broke the same leg three times in a battle and had it medically broke a fourth to reset it properly; it pains her from then on out. She's had part of her ribs sliced into by a daemon's katana along with a solid line down her torso. Those will never go away. At 18, she gets kneecapped so hard in Altissia she's more or less in a wheel chair for months after. So much magic moved through her she compared it to being unmade then remade again; she put on such a lightning storm in grief and pain and angry it looked like Ramuh himself was there. Then she does it again at the end of the World of Ruin; and it takes her out just the same. Not to mention she's on the spectrum, is full of PTSD from even before being a Glaive, and is clinically depressed and anxious.

Fe's nonverbal a lot of the times (she's verbal for work) and tends to sign or use texts/written words. It's unsure if it was something present from birth or from drowning when she washed up on the shores or Galahd as a toddler. The traumatic brain injury that follows leaves her no memory of the first three years of her life. She has no idea who she was before Galahd or even who was traveling with her. That drowning leaves her with such crippling aquaphobia the one time she has to take a boat she has a panic attack while crying and throwing up the duration they're on water. Her back is mottled with scars from shrapnel in the field where when all else fails she throws herself over her patients as a shield. One leg has intermittent burn scars from ankle to thigh from fighting a wraith; it's bone clubs crushed some of her bones too. There's so much PTSD from being a medic in some capacity since she was 12 and a full resistance soldier since 16. Becoming a Glaive just gave her magic to heal with instead of potions and sutures; the horrors weren't much different.

And all of them keep going no matter what because they can't give up, no matter how hard it is. Because they've not come this far to only come this far.

Maxx is a storm with a soul, a hurricane with a heartbeat. Not that this is anything surprising—he is the Messenger of the Stormsender after all. But to be friends with Maxx is also to shake hands with trouble. So Maxx befriending Nathalia, Ifrit’s demiastral daughter, is the closest thing that the Messengers know about the apocalypse. They get along in an instant that Hestia and Candela are horrified by the prospect. (And they call themselves Messengers of the Infernian, what a shame.) They make the Hunters and the Glaives job easier on most days, that much is true, but if anyone hears about a bar fight in Liberty Lounge, or how a pair of Hunters are caught riding a fucking wyvern, or how there is a massive firestorm brewing in Alstor Slough leaving the earth scorched that when viewed from Aranea’s airship, it spells ‘fuck you’, then look no further, fam. Maxx and Nat are behind that for sure.
