Here is the completed evolutionary line for my imagined partner digimon. The first three are official digimon (though I did add a scarf to YukiAgumon). IceTyrannomon and FrostyMamemon are variants I based off of the official digimon Tyrannomon and Mamemon. Avalanchemon is wholly original. (You can see the individual digimon by themselves by clicking here and following the evolution links.)

And just for fun, here's a size chart showing the differences between the stages. I believe Agumon are about 2.5-3.5 feet tall in most media.

TAMERS CARD GAME AU PART 2

TAKATO MATSUDA

The first viewpoint character, probably. His family isn't exactly flush with cash, so when he comes across an abandoned pair of special goggles on the playground, ones he'd never be able to afford on his own, he...ultimately turns them in to the authorities because he's a really good kid (after playing around with them and then getting some counsel and introspection about how that might affect their owner). But the original owner, a strange man called 'Shibumi', fixes him up an even nicer pair and hands them to the kid after an involved conversation about Digimon - it's from this Takato gets the idea to compete in tournaments and take The Wish for himself. Takato's goal, ultimately, is to make his fan creation "Guilmon" a reality. Not a card. Not a page in the Digimon Reference Book. A real Digimon. How serious Takato is about this wish varies, but he gets very, very intense about it later.

Takato sees Guilmon in his dreams. It's unclear how 'real' the creature is, at least to Takato, but the visions continually motivate him. Takato's primary cards are Agumon and Impmon. He can interact with them when he's got his goggles on. Agumon was actually Takato's only monster card due to budgetary constraints. He found two halves of a special edition Impmon card on the playground one time, badly taped back together by little hands and covered in grime. Shibumi actually worked some magic on that one too so it was more viable.

AGUMON

Agumon was Takato's first and only monster card, one of his favourite Digimon. He acts sort of like an older brother and counsellor to Takato, and there's some suggestion of wisdom to him that seems to be related to how he's *the* Digimon and franchise staple. And possibly also that Takato has played a truly embarrassing amount of pretend with his card even before having the resources to interact with it. His 'AI' develops in quite a healthy way.

Using Agumon is sort of like maining Ryu in Street Fighter, I guess. He's a fairly solid card with some decent evolution options that mostly have decent firepower and physical strength - very straightforward, with no real 'tricks' to them. Takato, being a huge V-Tamer fan, prefers to evolve him into V-Dramon - when he works out the particular method for doing so, after several false starts once he joins matches where he can use Adult levels. But he also evolves into Greymon or Tuskmon during matches, and sometimes jogresses into something like Devidramon with Impmon when the match rules allow. Then there's that weird point where he turns into a big, red dinosaur that's decidedly not Tyrannomon, and seemingly not at all an official Digimon. The experience seems to make Agumon uncomfortable for a number of reasons, especially since he can't remember it and only has a vague idea of where 'he' was during the whole thing. But Takato seems really excited about it... His main contribution story wise is that he's actually great at asking Takato questions that lead to breakthroughs in his playstyle or personal life - this is part of why Takato realised someone was probably missing the goggles he'd found. He also tries to console and guide Impmon and other Digimon he interacts with, with mixed results.

IMPMON

Takato found Impmon's card abandoned or lost on a playground. It had been ripped in half and then badly taped back together. This one Takato hasn't reported, since it seemed like the person (or people) that lost this card hadn't exactly appreciated it. When he thinks to ask Impmon if he would like to be returned to whoever owned him before, he gets a VERY emphatic no. Impmon doesn't talk much about his past otherwise, but he seems to actually know a lot about how to play the game at a more 'professional' level, often harshly mocking Takato's failures with pointed criticism that hides some crumb of actual metagame advice within. He must have belonged to a very accomplished player at some point, that's for sure.

Impmon isn't hugely effective in his base form by himself, but with some modifications and various strategies he can trip other monsters up so that Agumon can finish them, making them a surprisingly effective team. His main metagame use, according to common wisdom, is that he has access to a wide variety of evolutions - though the methods for some of them are kind of esoteric. Unlike with Agumon, Takato doesn't have a particular favourite for Impmon at first. Although for some reason the little guy refuses one particular evolutionary path. Can Digimon even do that? Strange - he's fine with regular Devimon. Impmon has accrued some serious hang-ups in his short life, and that his current Tamer is doing all this for the dream of a real partner does not exactly sit well with him. Or when after a while he gets lent to one of Takato's close friends for her debut match, something he misinterprets quite badly. But, I mean, he's only a trading card at the end of the day. Right?

Even if he gets upset, how much damage could he actually do?

GUILMON?

The Biggest Dreamer's Biggest Dream. Making Guilmon real is Takato's main, at only first half-serious, ambition. Takato sees him in dreams where they talk, play, battle Digimon on the streets of Shinjuku, and even go to the Digital World together. The more nights Takato spends gallivanting with Guilmon, the more committed he becomes to winning. What starts as a lark turns into the driving force of Takato's young life, influencing him more than any other factor to become a surprisingly ruthless and lateral thinking player, and serious competition for The Wish.

Takato seems to start to believe that Guilmon is actually already real on some level, drawing him and their adventures late at night while watching replays of matches, talking to these drawings as much as his 'other' Digimon, bringing him up in conversations with others as if it's completely normal.

It sort of starts to freak people out. Does Takato have an overactive imagination, or is the kid really losing it? Or is there something more going on...?

I debated making Guilmon Takato's main partner card in the real world rather than introducing a 'dream world', possibly as an 'illegal' card gifted to him by Shibumi for his honesty and imagination. Or that Takato does have a Guilmon card, but it's not a special 'AI' one, he just talks to it like it is. I might change my mind.

Takato will also sometimes borrow cards from friends for certain matches, notably from Hirokazu after they have a falling out and then make up (Takato beats him like a drum for the first time in their first official match)

MLAATR Digimon AU

I sure love to make Digimon AUs.

I had the idea that the humans are Digimon while Jenny and other robots are mostly the same, though Nora based Jenny off of a Gizumon model following the 'invasion attacks' (like the intergalactic attacks' in the official show). However, she was instead built to restore deleted Digimon and assist them in holding off rogue Digimon or other attacks on the Digital World.

Here's what Digimon I think the human characters would be.

Brad: Agumon. I know I'm basic, but he gives me an Agumon feel. His line goes Agumon - Tyrannomon - MasterTyrannomon - VictoryGreymon to make it less basic.

Tuck: DemiVeemon. He's a child, so I gave him an in-training form. He would likely digivolve to Veemon in the series proper, but I doubt any higher than that, due to his age.

Dr. Wakeman: Babamon. She WOULD be a Mega-level, come on now. Plus Babamon has that perfect 'old woman' vibe. Her line, though, would be Palmon - Pucchiemon - Piccolomon - Babamon.

Sheldon: Guilmon. The guy loves lizards and Guilmon's red/white matches his color scheme. His line goes Guilmon - Dark Lizardmon (The dark red ALSO matches his color scheme and is lizard-like + metal) - Megadramon (there's a lot of robot/mecha lizard vibes here) - Golddramon.

Brit and Tiff: Renamon and Black Gatomon respectively.

Pteresa: Biyomon.

The ONE TIME I don't check Digimon Survive News is the day a 6 minute trailer for it comes out, hhhhhhhhh.

Gonna talk about some Cool Things about that trailed cause I'm very excited for Survive, mostly visual stuff since I don't know Japanese.

-BRANCHED EVOS FOR THE SIDE CHARACTERS, you can see in the trailed when they show Sangloupmon, Dracmon's Ultimate/Mega branches, probably only the Ultimate's/Mega's for the side characters but I still like there having branches, timestamp is 4:27 cause it's really easy to miss.

-Tyrannomon as an official Agumon Evolution here! There's pictures (that don't appear in the trailed) showing Tyrannomon taking the place of Greymon in the evolution shot thing, and those are real from what I can tell, trailer-wise you CAN actually see Tyrannomon as Takuma's Partner, at 4:34 of the trailer, same with Diatrymon being Falcomon's evo!

-THE ART OF THIS GAME IS JUST SO BEAUTIFUL, I love all the lighting and the art style of this game so much, plus it seems like the camera is pretty fantastic, with all the panning and close ups and general movement it's doing, something I find charming is that in one of the shot the camera bobs up and down to make it feel like your walking. That and also I just really like the limited animation and posing of this game, there's a lot of neat character poses and expressions, plus the poses and attacks the chibis do are really cute. Also Dracmon doesn't open his mouth and I love that.

Interesting thing to note: Some Shots are done in a comic style with panels, I don't know I just thought that was cool.

-THE SIBLINGS, THE TWO BLACK HAIRED ONES, I love how they just started the trailed with the sister getting forcibly dragged by the hands, also apparently the opening shot is the story of the Kemonogani, meaning that could mean those children got sacrificed. Also the girl seems to be connected to those weird frog thingys which *eyes*.

-I love the show where Arukenimon is right behind purple headband guy and he just...looks towards Arukenimon, really feels like a "...It's right behind me isn't it?" moment.

-Actually a lot of the new mons we saw are interesting, Arukenimon, Garurumon, Monzaemon, Gotsumon, even Biyomon, Palmon and Patamon, which we see terribly hurt in some sort of castle-like area, and there's also the weird frogs and that ball that you can see in the action turn part of the battlefield sometimes.

-HAT GUY IS NOT DEAD BUT ACTUALLY SOMEWHAT IMPORTANT! I've seen some places call him a Professor and that seems to make sense with the footage we've seen of him. Really curious to know what his role here is.

-HUANGLONGMON MIGHT BE HERE! At the end there's a mural thing they find and the beast there seems to be Huanglongmon, now if it is, is still unclear but they do look similar. Still interesting to note

-Weird Cloak Guy has been repeatedly been compared to Piedmon, for multiple reasons but the main evidence is the blue ribbons behind them and the heart charm thing, not completely sure if I believe this but the Weird Cloak Guy is VERY NOTEWORTHY so it is here.

There's probably more things I missed but I am tired, I'm so excited for Survive.

I finally return from the void to binge watch Psi and catch up ‘cause holy shit I’m like 13 episodes behind (tho I can’t watch the latet episode yet, y’know how it is)

Sidenote: Yes, I am aware Psi has a sequel series planned. Also, I know the kids fought Mille, IDK if they won or not because clearly the series hasn’t ended yet and we’ve just barely gotten lore dumps on the Crests or something? IDK I’ve just seen some out-of-context spoilers but nothing major. So yeah, I AM FACINATED BY WHATEVER THE FUCK THIS SHOW IS DOING and I can’t wait to hear the Psiquel is gonna be (is it the Psi Chosen Part 2, or Zero Two Psified? TIME WILL TELL)

ANYWAYS, EPISODES 44-56! LET’S GO!

BTW I am not gonna have much to say about these episodes because I am kinda trying to binge watch these in one go and all

Ah, Petaldramon... We’ve got Sephirothmon showing up sometime in the future too, and Strabimon voiced by Kouji’s VA... Psi’s love for Frontier specifically is so heartwarming to see (ﾉ∀`♥) But I’m getting ahead of myself, I’m just happy to see these Digimon

Okay but now I have to wonder if the Ten Warrior’s Legend applies to Psi’s Digital World too... Not that I expect to get any kind of confirmation, it’s just a fun easter egg... BUT I’M CURIOUS ANYWAYS

But can we get the backstory behind Devimon? And how he and Angemon broke up? Please?

Oh please he’s just a part of Angemon instead? Oh boo, I wanted him to be an actual fallen angel (like an Angemon or a Pidmon that fell into the Dark Area like Devimon’s reference book implies), that’s a shame

Ohhhh I like this Nohemon, he’s chill and has a nice voice, I’m gonna pronounce him the Sexyman of Psi

We’ve seen Yajima in Psi quite a few times by now and everytime we do it just... It feels so nice and comfortable and cozy, it’s just so nice

I will say tho, it’s nice to see the Gekomon brought back but with a new twist- like I wouldn’t have complained if Tonosama was still in a coma, requiring a beautiful melody to be sung to be woken up, but seeing a brand new take on these characters while still bringing them back is nice and fun

If Tonosama Gekomon could stop touching Gomamon with his tongue that’d be great- like sure Gomamon is cute as a button but I still wouldn’t put him in my mouth, please, that’s just rude

OH THIS IS THE STRABIMON EPISODE!! 👀

Okay so Psi has been doing a lot of fan service so far in the series, bringing back voice actors to reprise their roles for many Digimon, even some obscurer one, and it’s been really nice and cute, wholesome throw backs- but in this episode, we get Strabimon, the Garmmom evoline’s equivalent to Flamon, voiced by Kouji’s VA. That’s... Like, giving us Strabimon at all was already a wonderful thing ‘cause we’ve never seen this Digimon animated-- but like, giving us this unused, theoretical Digimon with a theoretical voice and giving that voice to him is just... That’s like very specific wish fulfillment there, that’s the most wholesome fanservice I can think of and like... I’m really happy? And I’m so touched by the staff going out of their way to do this? When they didn’t even have to?? It’s not even like the Adventure throwbacks where Adventure was a popular season with many beloved characters, no no, Frontier is a relatively unpopular season, and an old season (like NO CHILD is gonna get this reference to an early 2000s kids anime), like, this reference is a stretch?? AND THEY MADE IT ANYWAYS?? Out of sheer love for the franchise??

   Like, despite all the flaws Psi as... The love it shows for the franchise is so strong and overwhealming I can’t help but to love it. Thank you Psi, you bizarre little thing

Anyways I’m excited about getting to see Strabimon, you can give me peanuts at this point and I’ll be more than happy and will gladly take it

I don’t even have anything to say about this episode rn I am just enjoying listening to Strabimon

And I am definitely looking forward to whatever the fuck Psi has up its sleeves and where the hell the sequel season is going- I know next episode is about Algomon but god I fucking hope Algomon isn’t the final boss (and that the next episode is just establishing him as the final boss, though, if Psi does only have like 10 episodes left, there isn’t much time to come up with much else there so... Yeah if that is the case, it feels like a waste of Milleniummon but whatever)

More DMOG v1 art updates! These two took some serious effort and time. While Tyrannomon, Numemon, and Betamon were mostly typical texture fixes (HDify + coloring) with some simple poses and a custom toon shader to get the stark black shadows of the 1990s Bandai appearance; these two hellions took quite some more effort but the payoff was equally good I think.

Airdramon - Beyond a typical texture fix, I had to use Blender for this one. The problem is not all Digimon are converted for MMD. But like the upcoming set CJ will show, I have learned recently how to better increase the quality of the renders and their appearance by providing environment details and working with the shader nodes. It’s really interesting to see the game develop alongside my own skill at making it. I spent a lot of time posing this just right and tried to mimic the original style for Airdramon’s pitched look with the Digital Monster. The basic form is possible to mimic but of course the full style is out of reach due to significant changes in the final production officially. I went for that “squished” and fat look, it’s adorable. I spent even more significant time in post production airbrushing many of the parts and manually fixing the shading. Overall, I think it looks the best of the DMOG re-art set!

Meramon - This is a bastard! Meramon’s CSHM model is really gross in general. He just looks like he has orange fur. This one is a bit better though it’s still like he’s made of frozen fire spikes. Honestly I get why a Meramon model is tough to build. Fire rises in the atmosphere and each spike on a meramon would therefore have to curve with a vector toward the top of the screen, which is prohibitive. I used copious time on the textures, attempting to create my own custom ones. I succeeded in the end but it was arduous with no immediate access to the UV. I replaced the face texture with the Meramon 1990s Bandai official art as well, which I think shows nicely. I assumed this would require a lot of post-production touchups but I was wrong, it only needed color graded to not lose significant detail when converted for print. The fire effects added are all done in 3D space unlike the prior one which was done as 2D in post. I think this turned out OK, but maybe some of you hate it or love it.  It was nearly impossible to use my new custom toon shader to get the proper blackbody shadow look from the Bandai art, but I tried anyway. At one point I used MMDTools to import this to Blender and created a custom Normal map in photoshop just to see if it would help a bit. Turns out, you should not use a normal map for fire! lmao

Hey (Dragonnoid) Knights! What's its like having your (more or less) reptilian body transformed into a humanoid ones. Which form do you prefer? Do you miss your old forms AKA younger days?

Dukemon: Hey! Thanks for the question. I guess I’ll take this first. I have to admit, it was pretty weird going from a big dinosaur-dragon hybrid as MegaloGrowmon into a humanoid knight. But when I first evolved, I had other things on my mind at the time. But, uh, yeah. I think I prefer my Dukemon form, actually. It’s a lot closer to what I want to represent. Plus, I love the way I look, with the shimmering armour, the long, flowing hair, and the billowing cape. There’s no substitute for coolness. *winks* Haha. Anyways, it’s also nice being able to fit in almost every building now. Not every pâtisserie is built big enough to fit larger Digimon.

Dynasmon: Yeah, I’m with Dukemon. Being a Tyrannomon and then a MetalGreymon was fine, but it could be inconvenient sometimes. There were some bonuses to being built like a tank, but accessibility is sometimes a problem, especially in certain cities. My size could be an issue when it comes to the ladies too. Being a Dynasmon is just a lot easier all around. I can’t exactly complain about this body. I’m even stronger than before and even sexier too.

UlforceVeedramon: That’s a matter of debate, Dynasmon. But yeah, I also like my current body, but I do kind of miss having a tail. It’s kind of like missing a limb. I used to be able to grab stuff with it as a Veedramon and AeroVeedramon. It was kind of jarring immediately after the evolution too. There’s usually a growing phase of trying to get used to your new body after you evolve. For example, I had to get used to having wings as an AeroVeedramon, and then I had to get used to having straight leg bones as UlforceVeedramon.

Magnamon: I like my Magnamon body a lot more than I like my lower form of Fladramon. This form is just more ‘me’, if that makes any sense. There wasn’t a huge change between the forms, I just enjoy this one more in terms of aesthetics and power.

Examon: The reverse is true for me. I actually became more draconic when I evolved to Examon, due to the pure dramon data within me. My Slayerdramon form was the most humanoid one that I had. That was probably the most difficult one for me to get used to, but I do have fond memories of it. That was when I first began my official role as defender of the United Dramonic Coalition, after having gone through the Trial of the Four Great Dragons. Readjusting to my Examon form took some getting used to, but I am quite happy with how I am now, even if it did cause some problems when I first joined the Order. I wonder if I joined the Order as a Slayerdramon, I would have been accepted more easily…

SaviorHackmon: Hello! I’m not a Royal Knight yet, but I hope you don’t mind me answering. I’m really proud of my SaviorHackmon form. It’s much more knightly than my BaoHackmon form. I really do look more like a Royal Knight now. I think I’ve gotten used to it now, but for the first few weeks, it was really difficult having a bipedal body. I’m really glad that I got to keep my cape and goggles though. They’re both important to me. I took them as inspiration from two of my heroes: Dukemon and KaiserGreymon of the Warrior Ten. Of course, all of the Royal Knights are my heroes, but I really like the way this combination looks!

A rookie that’s kinda... squiggly, like either bug-like or fish-like, and looks like it has a horn

Something that looks like the unimon sprite but doesn’t have wings, so I assume it’s shima unimon? 

I’ll try to screenshot them and see if anyone here knows what the rookie could be. I mean, it isn’t officially licensed so it could be a made up digimon for all I know.
