We're eating well, once again.

Mimi: Holds up the flag with the Crests of her two primary love interests in particular, a MOOD. Also still the only one thoroughly committed to wearing her associated colours, red and pink, so we know, all the budget went into Mimi's design once again and nobody can blame the lead designer, because she is gorgeous.

Sora: Which is why they didn't have enough budget to give Sora pants too, which is a shame. The only one to wear her signature colour (Yamato doesn't count, because they ALL wear blue) and... A telescope... A telescope... Still an insanely pretty ensemble overall.

Hikari: Will never stop munching on sweets, no matter what happens. Which is what she deserves.

Jyou: "YOU HELD THE MAP THE WRONG WAY, NOW WE ARE LOST AND NEVER GONNA MAKE IT BACK, AAAAAAAAAAAAH."

Yamato: "Wasn't Taichi on map duty anyway?" (He seems to have captain privileges, probably because of previous swan boat skills.)

Taichi: "Jyou wanted to take over, so I didn't stop him..." (HE LOOKS SO COOL, UGH. Also, aside from that, I like that he may just be "second in command" here? We know he is used to take charge, but also that he's not always wanting to be in the lead. Plus, at that age, never give him a map. N e v e r.)

Now it feels like we’re celebrating the 25th Anniversary 😍

This new art for an upcoming collaboration with Karatez is just simply stunning. The theme is (very obviously) “idol” and I personally love the futuristic pop concept they’ve added to the outfits. Although exact date and merch details haven’t been shared yet, they shared a few layouts of the key art.

The outfits are also great this time around because of their little references to the partner Digimon’s Perfect evolutions. Listing them down one by one as always.

Taichi: The blue markings on his jacket plus robotic arm markings on his right sleeve are a nice shoutout to MetalGreymon.

Yamato: We see WereGarurumon’s pattern on his jacket and a few belts wrapped around his hands that captures the punk-grunge vibe of WereGarurumon well. It may be Yamato’s affinity to music, but he looks extremely in his element in this art, it’s not often we see him so raring to go in official merch art (he’s more of a soft smiles guy usually).

Sora: Her gloves and the red bandana on her arm coupled with the feather in her hair are clear shoutouts to Garudamon. It’s kinda funny to me that being the girl who’s crest is a heart symbol, she’s making a victory sign while Mimi and Hikari are both making different types of finger hearts 😆

Koushiro: Honestly they were really subtle with the reference for him and even twitter couldn’t exactly answer my doubts so I’m gonna have to see Koushiro stans step up and answer whether the reference in his outfit limited to the markings on his jacket resembling AtlurKabuterimon’s chest?

Mimi: I think she’s the one with the most easy to catch references, her skirt resembles Lilymon’s and her hair tie looks like Lilymon’s flower canon. I love that she’s making the big finger heart because it’s just so very Mimi. If Yamato suits the passionate side of being an idol, Mimi is definitely meant for the cutesy visual vibe that can make fans go crazy over just a wink and a smile.

Jou: He’s wearing three belt like bracelets around one wrist like Zudomon which makes his a minimal reference though not as subtle as Koushiro’s. I do feel that they could’ve done a bit more with his look, maybe add a horn to the side of his headset? I also can’t wait to see the full art for each kid individually cuz I do think him and Yamato are wearing similar bellbottom pants!

Takeru: The feather on his headset and the yellow suspended straps are a decent reference to HolyAngemon. Considering that they wanted to keep the outfits limited to one colour per kid, I think this is the best way they could slip in the reference, though I wouldn’t have minded a few rings.

Hikari: The feather on the headset, the corset-ish belt around her waist and her gloves are very nice references to Angewomon. Keeping Hikari’s innocence as a kid intact while referencing a Digimon that is undoubtedly considered one of the most sexiest mons in the franchise would have been really tough and I salute the illustrators for coming up with this design! I also like the OG Korean finger heart she’s making, such a cute look on her.

The cherry on top are each of the Digimon partners holding supportive cheering goods for their kids. Piyomon’s love for Sora goes hard with her big name banner. Meanwhile, Agumon and Palmon kept it simple with haoris, Tailmon and Patamon too decided to go the simple route with light sticks. Gabumon, Gomamon and Tentomon seem normal from afar with their hand fans but when you get a closer look on all the hearts around Koushiro’s name on Tentomon’s fan, you know the three spent time making those themselves.

All in all, a pretty amazing illustration to be able to get merch of!

But wait that’s not all, andGallery has also teased a future cafe collaboration with Digimon Adventure on their twitter, more info will be announced on 19th Feb but they did share a preview of what to expect.

I'm gonna be honest with you... I misread an ask and spent all day yesterday putting way too much effort into the following visuals to respond to an ask, that didn't even exist I guess. Cool cool. Now if that doesn't scream I got a concussion idk what does

So in my brain, I thought I got an ask about what I would like future sets to be based on.

!!! - Spoilers for the evolution lines of Digimon World -next 0rder-, Digimon ReArise, and Digimon Survive, in that order. - !!!

First of all, generally, I'd love more game based sets, especially based on games with relatively large casts of characters and Digimon, to really fill up the set thematically!

Example number one:

Digimon World -next 0rder-

Now, what speaks against this is that most of these Digimon have been featured in the Card Game before, many of them thoroughly. But I feel like we will always keep getting cards if franchise favorites like Agumon, Guilmon & co., so I'd appreciate at least the variety in Tamers.

What I'd like out of a next 0rder set would definitely be another Mastemon, especially since despite Mirei and her Angewomon and LadyDevimon having been featured in the Re:Digitize focused set BT-11 Dimensional Phase, there was no new Mastemon. (I get it, Mastemon wasn't in the game, but come one, I mean-)

Also would love to see Analog Youth / Hiro / Mameo return! I feel like they could do interesting stuff with him. Luche also has potential for some special mechanics.

I highly doubt they'll create a new Digimon, but with official art featuring Shiki with Biyomon and Palmon instead of Agumon and Gabumon, I always wanted to have a Fusion of their ultimates, like Omegamon!

Next up,

Digimon ReArise!

Now this, this would be great. Not only will I personally jump at any chance for more Bearmon- this game had a large cast of characters, with quite a few uncommon evolutions, as well as completely new Digimon! And don't we all want more people to learn about NoblePumpmon?

Digimon Survive

I feel like there is a lot of potential in a Survive themed set. I'd really love for all these characters to get Tamer cards! While I only have the basic evolution lines in my graphic, with there being branching paths for Takuma and a few other characters, this could easily fill a set! Even though Agumon, Gabumon, Lopmon and Renamon are pretty common and popular, there are many "unusual" Partners as well. I'd love to have a good Floramon card finally, as well as Ceresmon Medium!

Tomorrow is the 1st, so that means it's time to do a v-pet swap.

Last month, I actually kept running my Pix because I was having such a good time with it, but I finally put it to rest for now. It's still my favorite modern Tama, so I might pull it out again at another date. And in it's place, i'm running the Tamagotchi Smart for the first time, with the only Smart Card I have, the One Piece friends. If I like the Smart well enough, I might buy a few more Smarts..... or bootleg versions of them, because official Smart Cards are stupidly expensive, someone on Ebay makes clones for 10 bucks a pop. We'll see though, I can already tell it's gonna have a learning curve, especially without any english in the menu.

Also running my X3 Yellow, which I thought I hadn't run yet, but I guess I did but just forgot about it? I'm starting out of the gate with Palmon X. I've finally got an idea of what kind of charms to use for the DMX by the way, so that Meat charm is temporary until they come in the mail. They'll make sense when you see them. But there's a new beaded strap!

Those are my two v-pets new to the rotation.

For V-pets staying in rotation, I decided I'm keeping my Uni running at all times, at least until Bandai drops support, because I don't want to miss out on any updates or events. I think i'll start a new egg on it though, I've kept poor Kikitchi for long enough. And i'm still rocking my Gen 2 hoping Zuccitchi will become Zatchi. I keep forgetting it's a bad idea to walk away from it where I could potentially get a discipline mistake, hopefully I haven't had any yet. I recon i'll put the Gen 2 away when the Tamagotchi Connection remake finally arrives in a few weeks....hopfully it actually gets here earlier than the delivery date says.

That's the update for today. Really excited for the Connection remakes this month. Also I forget that we should be expecting the Pendulum colors, but man does the delivery date feel so far away, because I ordered from Zenin, i'm likely going to end up getting them later than those who ordered from Premium Bandai directly.

MLAATR Digimon AU

I sure love to make Digimon AUs.

I had the idea that the humans are Digimon while Jenny and other robots are mostly the same, though Nora based Jenny off of a Gizumon model following the 'invasion attacks' (like the intergalactic attacks' in the official show). However, she was instead built to restore deleted Digimon and assist them in holding off rogue Digimon or other attacks on the Digital World.

Here's what Digimon I think the human characters would be.

Brad: Agumon. I know I'm basic, but he gives me an Agumon feel. His line goes Agumon - Tyrannomon - MasterTyrannomon - VictoryGreymon to make it less basic.

Tuck: DemiVeemon. He's a child, so I gave him an in-training form. He would likely digivolve to Veemon in the series proper, but I doubt any higher than that, due to his age.

Dr. Wakeman: Babamon. She WOULD be a Mega-level, come on now. Plus Babamon has that perfect 'old woman' vibe. Her line, though, would be Palmon - Pucchiemon - Piccolomon - Babamon.

Sheldon: Guilmon. The guy loves lizards and Guilmon's red/white matches his color scheme. His line goes Guilmon - Dark Lizardmon (The dark red ALSO matches his color scheme and is lizard-like + metal) - Megadramon (there's a lot of robot/mecha lizard vibes here) - Golddramon.

Brit and Tiff: Renamon and Black Gatomon respectively.

Pteresa: Biyomon.

Modern Digimon Dub Rambling

Something that I don’t see brought up with modern Digimon Adventure dubs like... at all is how lackadaisical the dub casting is now?

1. Any voice actors that were still active got to reprise their roles - Colleen O'Shaughnessey as Sora, Mona Marshall as Izzy,  Philece Sampler as Mimi, Tom Fhan as Agumon, etc. etc., with the one exception being Doug Erholtz - who apparently couldn’t pull off his TK voice so instead got cast as Daigo in Tri.

2. An effort was made to get back voice actors who haven’t had any roles to their names in years - at least, on sites on IMDB - to reprise their characters as well. So we got roles like Anna Garduno’s Palmon, Jeff Nimoy’s Tentomon, Laura Summer’s Patamon. The consistency even extends to some of the bit characters - Togemon, Birdramon and Angemon retain their actors even though they largely just have battle cries (The latter two were re-cast midway through for unknown reasons) - Beau Billingslea reprises Ogremon in Tri, even though all Ogremon does is grunt.

3. For lack of better place to put this - we know that casting didn’t reach out to actors who had officially retired, including Michael Lindsay, Michael Reisz and Joshua Seth - which is kinda fair- but the former two seemingly would have been interested in reprising had they been notified, and Joshua Seth had to reach out himself in order to reprise his role as Tai.

That all said, it’s clear whoever was in charge of casting made very deliberate decisions to retain as much former cast as possible even to surprising ends, to the point of getting back actors who had dropped out anime VA work. So it feels like whoever is casting has a pretty good knowledge about Digimon... until randomly, they don’t?

Several characters have new voices that feel like they couldn’t have possibly come from the way we knew them in the original Adventure and 02′s dubs. Joe, Kari and Davis have noticeably higher voices in their college years than they did when they were twelve. Gatomon’s original voice had catlike qualities to it, while her Japanese voice had one that made her sound more mature than the other Digimon, but Tri/Kizuna’s dub casts aside both of those and just goes for a ‘kinda cute‘ voice.

Brian Donovan and Neil Kaplan were set to reprise Davis and Hawkmon respectively before Covid complications made that impossible, and only Hawkmon’s new VA emulated the original actor while Davis’s new actor didn’t bring any of Donovan’s unique performance, so every line with Davis is noticeably, distractingly different.

Philece Sampler and Laura Summer don’t reprise Koromon or Tokomon despite already being cast in said dubs, and instead the two are played by men, which means they now have deeper voices than their immediate evolutions (and Tokomon just flat out has Gomamon’s voice).

And poor Armadillomon - somehow the casting director was aware of Hawkmon’s accent but not Armadillomon’s, so instead of a western accent - which should be extremely easy to replicate in some way - Armadillomon has this bizarre squeaky toy voice.

And lastly there’s Vic Mignogna as Matt - a completely baffling, unfitting casting decision until you realize that Tri’s Matt is literally just written as Digimon Fusion’s Christopher Aonuma, so it’s actually just a stealth reprisal and they clearly just wanted to protect Michael Reisz from such a horrible character assassination. (Hilariously enough, Nicolas Roye plays Matt much closer to Reisz’s portrayal than Mignogna’s, so puberty really did a number on Matt.)

This isn’t an attack on any of the actors or anything - even if there’s casting decisions I really don’t care for, everyone does a good job and in a vacuum I can see why they were cast (Except for Armadillomon - there’s no excuse for that). I just genuinely don’t think I’ve seen such a weird approach to casting before - get as much a original cast back so they sound like what fans know and love, and then cast everyone else without regard to the original dub or sub, throwing a dart to cast Tokomon and Koromon for good measure.

Since characters like Mimi (who’s replacement in Kizuna sounded nothing like Sampler) and Matt show they don’t entirely care about consistency, I hope they’ll bring back Donovan for what may be Davis’s last run in the new movie at least.

Koushiro: Yes. This is also because Tentomon helped out with everyone. thank you very much.

Tentomon: Speaking of which, Koushiro.... I would be shy....

Koushiro: what do you say. If I hadn't met you Tentomons, I would never have noticed that there was such a big world in my life, and I don't think I would have known what I should do.

Tentomon: ...ko,Koushiro! (moved to cry)

Koushiro: Then I would do more research with Professor Takenouchi and Shuusan to make an encyclopedia of the digital world.

Tentomon: Mmmm, I heard (waterfall tears). By the way, Koushiro, the cover of that encyclopedia must be me, right?

Koushiro: ...ah, yes, yes. (wry smile)

The ONE TIME I don't check Digimon Survive News is the day a 6 minute trailer for it comes out, hhhhhhhhh.

Gonna talk about some Cool Things about that trailed cause I'm very excited for Survive, mostly visual stuff since I don't know Japanese.

-BRANCHED EVOS FOR THE SIDE CHARACTERS, you can see in the trailed when they show Sangloupmon, Dracmon's Ultimate/Mega branches, probably only the Ultimate's/Mega's for the side characters but I still like there having branches, timestamp is 4:27 cause it's really easy to miss.

-Tyrannomon as an official Agumon Evolution here! There's pictures (that don't appear in the trailed) showing Tyrannomon taking the place of Greymon in the evolution shot thing, and those are real from what I can tell, trailer-wise you CAN actually see Tyrannomon as Takuma's Partner, at 4:34 of the trailer, same with Diatrymon being Falcomon's evo!

-THE ART OF THIS GAME IS JUST SO BEAUTIFUL, I love all the lighting and the art style of this game so much, plus it seems like the camera is pretty fantastic, with all the panning and close ups and general movement it's doing, something I find charming is that in one of the shot the camera bobs up and down to make it feel like your walking. That and also I just really like the limited animation and posing of this game, there's a lot of neat character poses and expressions, plus the poses and attacks the chibis do are really cute. Also Dracmon doesn't open his mouth and I love that.

Interesting thing to note: Some Shots are done in a comic style with panels, I don't know I just thought that was cool.

-THE SIBLINGS, THE TWO BLACK HAIRED ONES, I love how they just started the trailed with the sister getting forcibly dragged by the hands, also apparently the opening shot is the story of the Kemonogani, meaning that could mean those children got sacrificed. Also the girl seems to be connected to those weird frog thingys which *eyes*.

-I love the show where Arukenimon is right behind purple headband guy and he just...looks towards Arukenimon, really feels like a "...It's right behind me isn't it?" moment.

-Actually a lot of the new mons we saw are interesting, Arukenimon, Garurumon, Monzaemon, Gotsumon, even Biyomon, Palmon and Patamon, which we see terribly hurt in some sort of castle-like area, and there's also the weird frogs and that ball that you can see in the action turn part of the battlefield sometimes.

-HAT GUY IS NOT DEAD BUT ACTUALLY SOMEWHAT IMPORTANT! I've seen some places call him a Professor and that seems to make sense with the footage we've seen of him. Really curious to know what his role here is.

-HUANGLONGMON MIGHT BE HERE! At the end there's a mural thing they find and the beast there seems to be Huanglongmon, now if it is, is still unclear but they do look similar. Still interesting to note

-Weird Cloak Guy has been repeatedly been compared to Piedmon, for multiple reasons but the main evidence is the blue ribbons behind them and the heart charm thing, not completely sure if I believe this but the Weird Cloak Guy is VERY NOTEWORTHY so it is here.

There's probably more things I missed but I am tired, I'm so excited for Survive.
