Hey everyone!! Hope you're having a wonderful day! Today I thought that it's been a long time since I've posted an update to my Halloween fic list, but I haven't read many new fics since, so I though for today's post (because I don't have anything ready anyway) I would go through my MFL List and post up the ones that have been recommended to me throughout the years! Please note I have not read any of these, these are just based on a tag search on my offlline list :)

Near Halloween, they investigate a ghostly sighting at a mansion in the English countryside. The events of their investigation bring their feelings for each other to the fore.

Food goes on the food shelf by avalanching effect (G, 5,283 w., 1 Ch. || Halloween, Pre-Slash, Crack/Humour, Cannibalism, Magical Realism, Witches, Light Gore, POV Sherlock) – John, (without conferring with Sherlock) implements a system of organization in the kitchen. There are areas designated as 'experiment' areas, and others as 'food safe' areas. Crossover, however, is bound to happen.

Things only get worse: someone pushes them to play 'Never have I ever'.

A Beautifully Frightening Revelation by 221b_careful_what_you_wish_for (M, 6,486 w., 2 Ch. || Supernatural Elements AU|| Ghosts, Haunted House, First Kiss/Times, Frottage, Fluff, Halloween, Mutual Pining, Bed Sharing, Spooky) – John and Sherlock are investigating an isolated country manor haunted by a mischievous ghost. A series of spooky incidents brings them together in a candlelit bedroom, the night ripe for revelations and facing fears.

The Babadook by CatieBrie (T, 6,886 w., 1 Ch. || Babadook Fusion || Post-TRF, Horror, Demonic Possession, Violence, Halloween, Grief, Angst with Happy Ending) – “A children’s book,” John mutters as he flips it open. The pages are scrawled with beautiful charcoal lines and thick black ink. The cover, bright red, edges the open pages and something tugs at the back of John’s brain. It’s a familiar feeling, black and tarrish and thick in his thoughts. He shakes it off and picks the book up off his bed, turning so that he can sit on the edge and spread the book out across his knees. If it’s in a word or it’s in a look, you can’t get rid of the Babadook. He turns the page, ignoring the pressure building beneath his chest. There’s a closet on one page; paper doors meant to be opened by the reader flutter as John reads the text on the other page.

The Spirit Child by VelvetMace (M, 7,287 w., 1 Ch. || Psychological Horror, Disturbing Themes, Horror, Gore) – A small wooden box filled with clay and feotus bones yields more than just clues to a violent murder. A Halloween Story. Read at your own risk -- and I do not say this lightly.

Love your Wind as a humming bird comic. Any ideas for what the others would change into?? (I think Time as a kitten or something adorable would be funny)

Thank you! Wind as a hummingbird is such a wonderful idea and I have to thank and give credit to @/winkwonkblog for the prompt! I didn't really do Wind as a hummingbird justice when it came to like, drawing him well, but I had fun playing with the idea of it.

As for dark world forms! The fandom's done a great job exploring this and I really like a lot of (at least what I think are?) the more common takes! My preferences have been influenced by all the pieces of fanart, fic, and discussion I've seen - so many pieces that are tried, true, and tested! - so I don't have much to add! I like what the fandom's come up with and enjoy seeing new interpretations. It's a great big collaboration with a bunch of coexisting ideas and I love that.

These are going to be familiar lol (and I'll include some recs too, as one does!)

Time - I agree that Time being a cat or something cute and fuzzy would be funny because it would clash so much with how he's presented in the comic! Let him be something soft and unassuming so he can use it to his advantage for shenanigans! Like Legend though, I think he'd dislike being so fragile. He needs claws or something. To be honest, the hero of time being a golden wolf has never really felt right to me. I see general oot/mm Link as more of an an owl or fox. However, his characterization in LU makes it fit and I appreciate that. It's gotten me to come around to it some.

Hyrule - I'm not really sure! My joke answer is an okapi. Maybe a badger! idk! he's a dragonfly-winged fairy idk about an animal form for him. A coyote or gray fox, a brown-colored medium sized bird, something like that. Sorry I don't have the most inspired answers haha. I imagine Hyrule's Hyrule (in Zelda 1) as california chaparral so I think he'd be some kind of creature that lives there. I can tell you what kind of tree he'd be!!! Hyrule would be a ribbonwood tree (aka redshanks)! Ribbonwood bounces back quickly after wildfires, with the leaves sprouting again even after being all burned off. The bark that falls away from the tree comes off in strips or "ribbons" that are soft but scratchy and brittle when dried out. that give the tree a kind of whipsy appearance. It's wild and wiggly (I'm all out of adjectives at the moment) and very much a part of the landscape, a piece that ties it all together. The smooth bark underneath is a deep red and cool to the touch. The earthy red and vivid yellowing-green color is suiting. If you cup the leaves in your hands and breathe on them they release a soft rain-like smell. I'm just really passionate about Hyrule and this tree and ecosystem ahsfdhas do you see the low shrubs and parched dirt and the scrambling rocks and the mountains!!! the dry and hot and high altitude and dense shrubbery impassable to find hidden paths through! so much green no stranger to fire!!!!

Most of them do! Only Shadowstar doesn't, because she had no kittens. Her nephew Sun Shadow does, though.

Due to the nature of exponential ancestry (2 parents, 4 grandparents, 8, 16, 32, 64, on and on) and the closed population, plus a LONG history of kit-stealing, most Clan cats have ancestry with one or more founders. But there are some cats who have uncanny resemblance to one, more than others.

Tigerstar looks like Thunderstar.

Speckletail has Thunderstar's face shape, as did her father Stagleap and aunt Doestar.

Tawnypelt has Rainswept Flower's facial marking

Through Thunderstar and his biodad Skystar, Clan cats are genetically prone to vitiligo.

Heatherstar and her great-grandniece Heathertail have okapi-striped legs like Windstar.

I guess the really short answer is no, the long answer is I like to draw all my favorite animals, which is a rather long list. As to which Ive drawn the most It would be a toss up to me between mice, bunnies, and horses. Mice would probably be in the lead. They are fun to hide in images.

Oh my god, you’re right! So cute! The fur looks so soft and glossy. Those stripes are adorable and make me think of cookies and cream. And those ears! How soft do you think those ears are? I’m almost guessing kitten fur kind of soft.

I dreamt that I was walking through an airport and a stewardess approached me and said "the Ukrainian women are ready to meet you now". I did not know what she meant by that. I did not plan to meet a group of Ukrainian women. But I followed her anyway.

She led me to this old bookshop which contained no Ukrainian women. The books were of no interest whatsoever and were in very bad condition. Therefore, I slipped out through the back exit.

There, I saw an abandoned building, before which were standing my friends [redacted] and ****** and I was like hiiiii fancy seeing you here. Want to do some urban exploration and look at this abandoned building together? (This is so unrealistic. I would NEVER do urban exploring or enter any building which might collapse on my head.)

They agreed so we entered the abandoned concrete building. We all gasped because the corridor we were walking through was filled with beautiful birds. There was definitely a European roller and an owl 🦉. They were soooo beautiful especially the owl. The corridor opened up into a room where there were many beautiful animals also, but they looked sickly. There was a very pathetic looking okapi.

Also, there were many animal skeletons. Including dinosaur 🦖🦕 skeletons!! But most importantly, behind a low enclosure, there was a dinosaur 🦖🦕. It was about 2.5 metres tall. It jumped out of its enclosure and started chasing [redacted] but I simply picked it up by the nape of its neck like it was a kitten and put it back in the enclosure.

Then I was like that's enough fun for today!! We're leaving. So me and ****** left but we realised [redacted] wasn't with us. And we were like oh no did the dinosaur 🦖🦕 get to her?? We must rescue her. We raced back to the building because we both wanted to be the first to rescue her.

There was a well that she had fallen into. It was kind of giving silence of the lambs. I threw her a rope I happened to be carrying around and she climbed out. When she climbed out, it was like an Orpheus and Eurydice situation where I couldn't look back at her until she told me to.

So we walked out together, and when we were finally about to leave the building, she told me to turn around, but she wasn't [redacted], she was me!! And when I blinked, she was no longer there.

[redacted] and ****** were outside the building and I was like omg you guys won't believe what just happened. I rescued myself from a well. And they were like yeah the same thing just happened to us.

And I was like omg crazy... Anyway, which one of us do you think is Id, Ego, and Superego? What's our dynamic like? And they were like Jesse what the fuck are you talking about.

“I’m not a furry, but...” anon here: prompt for Zootopia AU; I’d love to see more of Lion!Gold becoming a kitten like lion then the mood is broken by the cockblocking brigade

It had been a day from hell. Rent day usually was, even though he took great strides to make people believe he enjoyed them. The process of collecting itself was tedious, even with the tenants who had the money. For those who don’t he had a few choice words, a glimpse of canine, a hint of claw, and the silent presence of Dove, a literal bear of a man whose stern demeanour hid a disappointingly-soft character. He was there to simply stand around and look menacing, Gold did the talking.

The tears, the laments, and the tempter tantrums almost inevitably led to payment assurances. People were never really as broke as they always seemed to claim, amazingly enough. It didn’t keep them from ranting and raving, their shrill bleats, screeches and grows grating on his sensitive ears. A rent day was never complete without a raging headache.

He finished the process by tallying all the payments and balancing the books, which meant little time for restoration work, which usually put his mind at ease, and no time or disposition to swing by the library and enjoy a bit of the lovely attentions of Miss French. Whatever they had was new and precious and magical, so the idea of tainting it with his dark mood was unthinkable. He was bound to fuck things up eventually but he needn’t jump the gun unnecessarily.

By the time he approached his home his head was pounding and his bad ankle was throbbing. He was hoping for a bit of respite before trying to drag himself to Granny’s, his only missing stop for the day. Granny Lucas, though she usually paid in time, always seemed to make a sport out of making things as hard for him as she possibly could, and so collecting rent from the diner and the B&B took a lot of posturing, a lot of arguing, and at least three veiled allusions to Granny’s false canines, her not-so-secret shame.

An enticing smell stopped him just as he was about to climb the steps of the porch. Instead he used the side-entrance that led straight to the garden, and tried to pretend he didn’t feel his tail flicker excitedly when he spotted Belle French lying on the grass, in one of her becoming sundresses, this one in a fetching shade of rose.

She had taken on his garden as a pet project a few weeks ago, when they’d started dating, and had made a lot of progress along the way. It was a safe, easy way to invite her to his house without it making him overtly nervous. Usually he’d prepare them something to eat and drink and they’d sit down in the veranda once she was done and talk about books and, little by little, about their lives. It was how he knew her father was a florist a few towns over, and that her mother had passed away when she was young, almost too young to remember her. She’d been the one other okapi she’d ever met.

He had told her to feel free to pop by when she knew he wasn’t home to tend to the plants, water them and whatnot, so he wasn’t surprised that he’d chanced upon her there but that she didn’t seem to be doing anything gardening-related. Looking around his backyard he noticed for the first time how thriving it looked. Spring was finally settling in and it showed: flowers of all types were sprinkled across the grass, in various states of blooming. Though it seemed at first that they were sprinkled everywhere there was a strange order to them, a harmony of sight and smell that was very pleasing.

There was one smell in particular, other than the dangerous cocktail of pheromones that was characteristic of Miss French herself, that was extremely appealing to his nose. Feeling his muscles unwind he made his way towards Belle, who was lounging by a bush of small purple flowers set in clusters he thought at first was lavender. A tentative sniff made him shudder.

Catnip.

He removed his suit jacket, and did away with his tie. It seemed strange and silly to be so overdressed in the face of such simple, decadent pleasures. When she stretched her arms out to beckon him to her it didn’t even cross his mind to deny her, to feel awkward or shy or tense. He even allowed himself to growl playfully as he snuggled up against her, feeling the sun hit him just right and begin to melt away the last of his tension. He had seldom known peace like it before, so complete and pure, so…

“Gold!”

He frowned. His mind must be playing tricks on him. Could have swore he heard-

“Gold! Are you there?”

His ears flickered, catching the tell-tale hopping of the new Deputy Sheriff, the soft, hoofed steps of Miss Blanchard and the confident, annoying swagger of David Nolan. A mixture of panic and dread began to set in at the notion of having to deal with whatever problem they were bringing his way, likely with the expectation that he solve it for them.

“Hush, come here.”

Belle pushed him into a tall patch of cattails, musing her hair with one hoof while she pressed her other against him.

“Roar for me, darling.”

She licked his nose playfully when he just laid there, confused and increasingly aroused, and it was enough to snap him out of it and make him roar loud enough to scare the couple of elks who lived three houses over. Belle moaned a second later, calling out his name as she slid a strap of her sundress down her shoulder.

“Hey, is everything alright in there?!”

David Nolan, in his defence, sounded genuinely concerned. Did didn’t stop Belle from straightening up so that she was resting on her knees and visible from the waist up to the intruders. Miss Blanchard let out a squeaky bleat when she registered the librarian’s dishevelled look, and even Emma Swan looked uneasy.

“No, everything is not alright! You’re ruining roleplay Wednesdays!”

He choked back his laughter, managing to turn his chuckle into a growl of apparent displeasure. 

“If you don’t mind, dearies, we were almost at the part where the hungry lion devours his well-earned prey. I trust you can see yourselves out.”

Nolan stammered out something that sounded vaguely like a yes, and the trio wisely retreated. Their absence, far from making Belle move away, made her lean close, her nose gently nudging his.

“You said something about devouring?”
