Kensington Plantation Circa 1854, Eastover, South Carolina.

Located in Eastover, South Carolina Kensington Plantation was completed in 1854. It was designed by Charleston architects Edward C. Jones and Francis D. Lee and was built for Colonel Matthew Richard Singleton. The home has 29 rooms, 12 foot tall ceilings, and 12,000 square feet of floor space. The raised basement contains a massive cistern that held 10,000 gallons of water for household use. The property originally was a cotton plantation and in latter years, a dairy farm. During the civil war his Mother in law, Mrs. Mary Loundes Kinloch, was able to save the plantation from burning by Union soldiers, by appealing to the soldier's memories of his own Grandmother. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.

In 1910 it was sold to the Hamer family who lived in the home and farmed the land until 1941. The South Carolina government purchased the property to house those displaced by Santee-Cooper, but WWII took them instead. After World War II, the government sold the land to the Lanham family. When the Lanham family purchased the home they decided to build on the property instead of living in the structure and used the house as a storage area for farm equipment, fertilizer and feed for animals. In 1981 International Paper bought the property and spent $750,000 on a two-year renovation project that saved the historic site from ruin; and opened it up to the public. Inside photographs are not permitted. However, according to their Facebook page, the last tour was May 18th 2019.

For further research, Jacob Stroyer (1848-1909), who was enslaved on the plantation, documented antebellum life here in his memoir, "My Life in the South", first published in 1879.

🖐️НЕРИСУЙ - у вас бывает, что не рисуется? Находишь себя над белым листом скетчбука или листа акварельной бумаги с карандашом или кистью в руке? 🎯 А то и вовсе избегаете встречи с блокнотом. Хотя, вот оно - то желанное полчаса времени только для себя и рисунка? И... Ни как 😲🙄🤔😟 Работая в офисе, казалось - только на волю и буду спать с линером 😆. На самом деле больше месяца не рисовала. Как я с этим справляюсь? Вот тройка проверенных действий: 1️⃣ Не рисую! Без каких то там внутренних терзаний. Пока рисунок не работа - это должно в первую очередь приносить удовольствие. 2️⃣ Когда вот "ну сколько можно… пора уже пора" но... то время не то и солнце уже село и вообще, можно потупить в Инстаграмчик. Тогда захожу на Пинтерест или просто в гугло стритвью и листаю картинки пока не появится то, что нестерпимо хочется нарисовать. 3️⃣ А если и это не помогает. Просто беру и начинаю рисовать. И вот это, уже точно работает. 😁 А бывает, что это проблема мотивации типа "а на кой черт это вообще надо?" или "все равно скажут - а ты будешь это все раскрашивать?". Или "нет какого-то скачка, рисую, рисую и все так же!" Тогда переходим к пункту 1️⃣.
