Jen, speaking of Time Passed, I really love time passed Oli. What are your thoughts on Oli’s role in Louis’ life like irl? It’s so fascinating to me how he’s literally always there with Louis. Like when we look back to 2016 and all the pap walks with the baby carrying a babycarrier or stroller around or exchanging in a public parking lot, Oli was ALWAYS there. And even back in 1D days like whenever Elounor was out together we’d often see Oli along with them as well and he was a permanent fixture as well during Party Boy Louis Era. I know this is purely speculation, but what do you think their dynamics are like? Like do you think Louis asked him to be his right hand arm man? Personal assistant? I’d like to hear your thoughts, Oli is one of the most fascinating characters of the 1DCU imo.

HE TRULY IS! And if you don't already follow @oliwrightofficial, you should, god bless Oliver Wright (and his UA mod). My thoughts are that Oli has many functions: he's a steady reminder of non-famous life, he doesn't seem to be out there using his access to Louis to get anything more than drugs and ladies (and seems pretty anti-bullshit accordingly), he gives Louis something to focus on (because my lord, can Oli fuck shit up), he keeps an eye on Louis if he's going off the rails (that last one's my own personal projection), he keeps the cigs/drugs/booze/party flowing, he looks out for Louis in a way people he's met from age 18 onward probably don't, can't, or won't. Idk if he does other PA stuff, all those admin types of errands, but whatever that specific employee role is, the more nebulous "we're mates" role seems mighty important (you can always pay someone to pick up your drycleaning, it's a lot harder to find someone who will pick you up off the floor when shit gets real (bad)).

Empires Magical Girl Au: The side characters or as I like to call them; Cleo, Stress & The Boys

I should say that this story is focused on the girls so I'm going to be keeping the boys pretty minimal in this story. Or at least I they aren't becoming magical girls. I know sad but I want to focus on the lady's they deserve to have a super hero story focused on them.

Cleo: I'm thinking she knows of the girls secret, or at least some of them, and hates it. She is quite protective of her friends. So when one of her best friends are roped into the quiet dangerous occupation of heroism, let's just say she isn't the happiest. Especially when more started joining.

Stress: She might be around the girls just as much as Cleo, but in her case she is completely clueless to there after school activities. Though she is very supportive and even though she doesn't know what's happening she trusts her friends.

The Boys -

Scott: Our resident "friend" of everyone. He's kind to everyone but only the people he truly cares about he considers a true friend. I also took slight inspiration from reality and made him a big fan of the girls, to emulate his love of DND. In fact I would consider him their #1 fan.

Oli: Our resident bard is quite eccentric and our show runner of our b plot! The director of the school play, a job no one knows how he got, drags his assistant director around as much as he can. Who might his assistant director be, well Shelby of course... Yeah Shelby doesn't know why either. Though Oli says he couldn't think of anyone else to be his assistant director.

Jimmy: Lizzy's little half brother! Im thinking he is quite a worry wart over his sister. Especially when he's the one covering for the girls during school hours as the schools hall monitor. Due to their relationship though he doesn't feel it's his place to ask her about it, but that doesn't mean he's not going to try to not find out what's going on.

Fwhip: Gems twin brother, and Sausage's best friend. He too is another worry wart. He's the resident fixer, doesn't matter what it is if its broken he could fix it. So it's a little worrying that he's had to fix up one or two of the girls a few times. It's expressly worrying when it seems they like to go to him first before an adult or the hospital.

Sausage: Pearl's cousin and Fwhip's best friend. Sausage is another resident worry wart though he is more outwardly spoken about his concern. Though he is quick to put a smile on and pretend everythings okay whenever they ask him to stop pressing the matter. So he throws his stressed energy into one other responsibilities. Wether it's taking care of bubbles or one of his many art projects.

Joel: The trusting worried wart. He's Lizzy's best friend, though we know that will change in the future. Joel just wants what's best for her and if she wants to keep secrets he's not going to press her about it. So he focuses on his art projects as well and waits to be a shoulder of support when she needs.

Joey: Look I love Joey and all but I can't see him ever falling for a chick, so I'm deciding right here right now that Katherine was his girlfriend before he knew he was gay. So now their just best friends and happy to help each other out when the other one asks. He is not a worry wart like most of the other boys because he knows Katherine and knows she can take care of herself. So he keeps going as if nothing's wrong.

Pix: The resident lore man! Pix is an aspirin journalist so when a group of super heroes just appeared one day he's not going to let this opportunity go to waist. He starts a blog about them and it quickly becomes most peoples main source of information on the girls and the villains. He is also the one who named each of the girls... That sounds weird, he's the one who gave them their super heroe names.

And that's Zombie, Stress and The Boys! I have a few more things about them but they would be more for a deep dive like post. Anyway next is the villains! Or possibly where the girls get their powers from... Hmm well see.

hello everyone! welcome to what will hopefully become the first in a series i’m doing for Escape the Night, a YouTube Web Series by Joey Graceffa. this is gonna be something new, i think, but presented in a Mad Rambles styles. 

so in essence; welcome back to another episode of Mad Rambles.

the idea i had was essentially presenting me with what if the contestants had known from the beginning that they didn’t have to be the sacrifices, but the first time, they failed. they hadn’t anticipated the betrayal, they fell to their own human instincts. they still regret it to this day.

the second time, the contestants where more prepared, but the Enchantress didn’t allow for “cheating” so they failed again.

the third time, their monster was encased in amber. this time, they had two puzzle-solvers that didn’t let themselves fail. they still failed, someone betrayed them and the others where lost until only three remained.

the fourth time, they used the gem and the new-found abilities of the Survivors to go to Purgatory and retrieve their fallen friends. in the end, a single sacrifice was made. The Collector would release the Contestants of the games, but in return she wanted something of equal value.

so they had to find something of equal value. the thing they found was the artifacts of the Mansion, the Victorian Manor, and the Circus. the things that got their friends killed.

the point is, they get their friends back.

Ophelia Filius [Aishwarya Rai]

A former Tevinter altus of the city of Ventus, and current acting-Warden-Commander of Ferelden. A powerful necromancer who studied with the Mortalitasi, Ophelia works to recruit Fereldan Wardens in order to boost the numbers from the deficit caused during the Blight. She takes over while Reyn Caron searches for the cure to the Taint. Headstrong and clever, Ophelia has no desire to see Tevinter succeed, and denounces the practice of slavery, having realized its despicable nature after her own brother was sold into slavery against his will and experimented on by a magister. Ophelia is currently attempting to redefine the between-Blight Grey Wardens as a force for assisting the common good, protecting roads and helping the oppressed, and is willing to march on Weisshaupt with her fellow Wardens if the Order needs to be... cleansed of Corypheus’ influence.

Oly Aeducan [Jason Momoa]

A dwarf prince, disgraced by his brother’s murder and then exalted as a Paragon for his role in ending the Fifth Blight. He takes advantage of the dwarven resilience to lyrium to grant himself Templar powers, carefully rationing himself to ensure he does not become addicted. Husband of Skadi Brosca. He sets up permanent residence in Ferelden, near his friend King Alistair. A surprisingly skilled painter. He is a total pushover when it comes to his son with Skadi, Duncan Aeducan.

Skadi Brosca [Shantel VanSanten]

A former fixer for an Orzammar crime lord and the sister of a noble hunter (and the current wife of King Bhelen Aeducan), Skadi is intelligent, humble, and a vicious fighter. She’s generally a nice person, considering her occupation, but has a worryingly lax attitude towards crime. Do NOT play her at chess. Or Wicked Grace. Or Diamondback. Don’t play games with her. You will not win. She is the only dwarf in history to reject the title of Paragon in favor of remaining Casteless.

Konrad Cadash [Chris Evans]

An ex-Carta bruiser, he also was once a boxer in an underground fighting ring (sometimes literally; the Carta would send him to fighting Orzammar dwarves in prize fights. Was technically adopted by Oly Aeducan and Skadi Brosca. Has been taught some Legion of the Dead fighting style. He actually prefers the surface to Orzammar, and once killed a troll on his own. Becomes Leliana’s aide during Inquisition, and stays on as part of the spy network after Tash steps down.

Riona Mac Tir [Rachel Weisz]

Bastard mage daughter of Loghain and older half-sister to Anora. Senior Enchanter of Kinloch Hold and current Regent of Gwaren Teyrnir. Riona adapted the physical focusing movements taught to mages in Kinloch into a martial art not requiring magic, and later developed its use with folding fans. Traveling with the Hero of Ferelden after Broken Circle, Riona became friends with Alistair due to them both being bastards and sharing a dislike of her father. She is Ferelden’s answer to Madame de Fer, and acts as Tash’s escort to Halamshiral. She loves dogs, like many Fereldans, and owns a Mabari hound named Aofie.

Basile and Sylvie de Serault [Chris Hemsworth and Kathryn Newton]

The former Marquis of Serault and his sister, Basile and Sylvie are Orlesian nobles of the disgraced Serault, home to the Shame, a maleficar of note who passed some of his powers down to them, imbuing them with latent magical abilities, although not enough to consider them mages. Basile is a bookish and slightly shy man who would rather not be a ruler, but dutifully accepts and excels in the role as keeper of Ylenn Basin when Duke Tash is elsewhere. He loves his studies, and is no slouch in combat, although he only ever fights as a last resort. Once had a fling with the Prince of the Forest and is actually well-versed in glass-making. Sylvie is an adventurous and slightly boisterous young woman who enjoys hunting and exploring. She hates having to conform at court and enjoys her role as Lady Protector of Ylenn Basin. She has a custom made Serault weapon, a knife made of Serault glass attached to a fine chain, that she can whirl through the air nigh-invisibly, with deadly accuracy.

I went reading through the comments and realized some things needed more clarification.

What I should get out of the way first is that the only part of the fanbase I was connected to was the one on Tumblr.  I didn’t want to write down things that were all too clear to everyone on this site.

One of these being the fact that everyone and their mom knew about the listing of the cast!

This wasn’t a hint, it was just basic casting order.  Those who get the most screen time get top billing, the ones with the least amount are put at the end. This is probably why Tim’s name was above LeLe’s.

Joey: I didn’t really put him down before because he was this host.  He is standing in the same place he was introducing the party, still looking happy. He is basically stuck in this moment, the only real moment of happiness before it all went to pot. Boy had no idea that everyone around him was going to be put in danger.

LeLe: Someone pointed out in the comments that LeLe is the one that appears near Joey (unlike, say, his bestie Justine).  I agree with them that another hint toward her death was Joey failing to save her in the challenge.

Justine: To everyone that point out that Justine was holding the earrings of the woman she replaced, give yourselves a pat on the back.  It was a much better connection to what I had.  Her starting to run I still think is connected.

Sierra:  This is grasping at straws again, but the moment I saw Sierra my brain kept going back to this moment. https://youtu.be/Bi-PLwxwvy8?t=112 This is where the possession idea came from.  For those that see a ghost near her, more power to you because I can’t.

Oli: I think this deserves a bit more explanation since it was affected by current Tumblr theories at the time.  Everyone was going “The gargoyles eyes are red! Oli must turn evil!”  No.  This was proof of his survival.  They didn’t get to the gargoyle until the last episode. They put the rubies in, thus changing the eye color to red.  Oli didn’t turn evil, he made it out.

Shane:  I didn’t really go into the hints that killed him.  Shane was with the Society Against Evil, which is why he knew about the artifacts.  Authur might have known they would send someone (didn’t help he called out the maid).  Which is why they had assigned seats.  Shane didn’t get the telegram until after he started eating.

Eva:  Someone mentioned that Eva being alone with the body she and Shane found was proof to his death. I personally think this is proof of Eva’s survival.  No one else sees it but her. A sole survivor. (Yes, she wasn’t the only one that made it, work with me here.)

Matt: He had two breakdowns in one episode. The first was realizing they had to release the former owners of the house after thinking they were finally done. Th second was when he accidentally killed Sierra.  His temper and depression from these events caused nearly everyone to consider him dead weight and voted him into the challenge of ep 6 that killed him.

Andrea: For some more details, Andrea looks completely alone.  One problem I think she had was not knowing what a Fixer was back in the 1920s.  They were the people that worked alongside the mob.  They would arrange meetings between Dons, set up transfers of illegal arms to gangs, stuff like that. This was part of why she was considered unless because everyone thought she should have been fixing things in the modern sense.  For those who saw her make-up running, recall that it was the left side of her face pressed against the glass when she died. Bonus note: as someone that has been called “useless” before, not only does it hurt but Andrea was not useless!

I don’t think there is anything to add to Tim or GloZell. I know these are still a stretch, but there is still some sense to them. Don’t you think?

On September 11, 2017, the Operational Land Imager (OLI) on Landsat 8 acquired this natural-color image of the waters near Gladstone, Australia. Small red and white rectangles offshore appear to be ships headed into or out of the port, which is one of Queensland’s largest. Along the way, those ships cross green and tan lines on the sea surface—likely blooms of marine algae clumping along the edges of water masses and wave fronts in the Coral Sea.

The blooms are likely to be Trichodesmium spp., a microscopic, photosynthetic cyanobacteria that aggregates into long strands on the sea surface. They are ubiquitous around the world, and they tend to bloom off the coast of Queensland between August and December as the water warms. Some evidence suggests that Trichodesmiumblooms here are happening earlier and more often in recent years.

From a ship or the shoreline, these blooms look like dirty brown or green stripes on the water and like an oil slick when they hit the beach. Such blooms off the Australian coast were reported two centuries ago by Captain James Cook and by Charles Darwin. Sailors have long referred to the blooms as sea sawdust or sea scum. They are mostly harmless to humans, though they produce a foul, fishy smell as they decay. When blooms are especially large, they can deplete the oxygen content of sea waters, leading to fish kills.

Trichodesmium play an important role in the ocean because they convert nitrogen gas from the atmosphere to ammonia, a fertilizer that plants can use to grow. Researchers from the University of Bristol have proposed that the evolution of nitrogen-fixing photosynthetic cyanobacteria about 800 million years ago may have helped tip the balance of carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen in the atmosphere and ocean enough to promote the development of higher life forms. Nitrogen-fixers can draw nitrogen straight from the atmosphere and turn it into nutrients while also releasing oxygen. So in effect, they fertilize the ocean for other phytoplankton while boosting the oxygen content of the air.

Été 2016. Deux jeunes rappeurs, vêtements trop larges et casquettes vissées sur la tête, foulent la scène du parc de Valmy. Le public des Déferlantes découvre BigFlo et Oli, frères toulousains qui veulent se hisser au sommet du rap français. Le coup de foudre est immédiat. Depuis, les deux frangins ont sorti deux albums (La vraie vie en 2017, La vie de rêve en 2018), joué dans les plus grandes salles de France, rempli à deux reprises le Stadium de Toulouse et donné un mini-concert au cœur du Stade de France pour la finale du Top 14. Rien de moins. Trois ans après, ils reviennent sur la scène du festival argelésien. Rencontre avec Olivio, alias Oli, le plus jeune élément du duo toulousain.

Vous êtes de retour à Valmy, trois ans après votre première. Vous étiez également de passage au Mediator de Perpignan en octobre 2017, quels souvenirs gardez-vous de vos concerts dans les P.-O. ?

C’est toujours de super souvenirs ! Et c’est particulièrement vrai pour celui des Déferlantes, parce qu’on y a fait de belles rencontres. Je pense à Cali avec qui on s’est vraiment lié ce jour-là, il nous avait fait l’honneur de monter sur scène avec nous. C’est vrai qu’il y a des endroits où on joue beaucoup plus qu’à Perpignan. Mais à chaque fois, c’est un vrai plaisir. Je me souviens très bien du Mediator où on avait fait une résidence, on y avait répété le show. On a de très bons amis dans cette ville, c’est un endroit de la France qu’on aime beaucoup.

Vous avez grandi à Toulouse, le Pays catalan était peut-être une destination de vacances quand vous étiez petits ?

Alors non, c’était les colonies de vacances à la montagne organisées par la mairie (rires). Mais en tout cas ça pourrait l’être. Quand on y est passé avec un peu plus d’âge, on a découvert un endroit reposant, inspirant, c’est vraiment magnifique. Rien que la ville de Perpignan, on adore s’y balader avec Flo. On se déguise un peu et quand il fait beau on va boire des verres avec notre pote perpignanais Némir.

Le patron des Déferlantes David Garcia dit que vous êtes venus « comme des minots en 2016 » et qu’on vous retrouvera « comme des grands de la chanson française en 2019 ». Qu’est-ce que vous ressentez quand vous entendez ce terme de « grands de la chanson française » ?

Je pense que c’est faux mais ça fait extrêmement plaisir. Ce que je peux confirmer, c’est qu’on est venu minots. On n’avait pas encore un si gros parcours, il y avait plein de choses qu’on n’avait pas encore réalisées. On revient plus gros, plus sûrs de nous et meilleurs. De revenir meilleur, c’est ce qui m’importe le plus. 

On est prêt à jouer partout quand on a joué là où on a commencé

Vous avez rempli le Stadium de Toulouse deux soirs d’affilée. Pour la première date, vous avez dû faire face à des conditions météo dantesques et joué pendant trois heures sous une pluie battante. Est-ce qu’on peut se produire partout après ça ?

Franchement ouais (rires). On est immunisé pour longtemps parce que c’était tellement de stress. On ne l’a pas trop dit mais il y a eu un risque d’annulation par rapport au matériel, c’était un stress immense. Alors oui on est immunisé. Mais en réalité, on est prêt à jouer partout quand on a joué là où on a commencé. C’est-à-dire devant personne. Dans des endroits où il n’y avait qu’un micro pour deux. Ce sont les concerts du début qui nous ont forgés et qui nous permettent d’affronter toutes les galères. 

Sur votre nouvel album, il y a cette chanson intitulée « Stade » où vous scandez que « les Zéniths sont trop petits ». Cela ne vous manque pas de jouer dans des salles plus intimes ?

Oui, un peu parfois. Mais l’être humain s’habitue à tout. Maintenant, on a l’habitude de faire des grandes salles. Ce qui nous permet de continuer à vouloir en faire, c’est qu’on peut proposer un plus grand show. Quand tu ramènes une lune géante au-dessus du public ou quand tu termines ton spectacle par un feu d’artifice, tu ne peux pas le faire dans une petite salle. Mais c’est vrai que parfois ça manque. On ne s’enlève pas l’idée de la tête de faire une tournée plus intimiste et de revenir à l’essence même de notre musique.

C’est un rythme de fou mais c’est aussi le fruit d’un parcours

Vous n’avez que 23 ans mais votre carrière est déjà bien remplie. Comment analysez-vous votre parcours et comment fait-on pour garder les pieds sur terre ?

Pour garder les pieds sur terres, on ne regarde pas trop dans le rétroviseur. Quand on raconte mon parcours, je souris. Je ne sais pourquoi, peut-être que je ne réalise pas trop. C’est peut-être aussi ce qui nous permet de continuer et à chaque fois de se fixer des objectifs plus gros. Ça fait des années qu’on est dans cette course. On en parle dans l’album, il y a eu des moments très difficiles aussi. Je suis jeune mais ça fait 10 ans que tous les jours je pense « musique » de manière obsessionnelle. Ça fait cinq ans qu’on fait je ne sais pas combien de concerts par mois. C’est un rythme de fou mais c’est aussi le fruit d’un parcours. Ce n’est pas comme si j’avais gagné au loto : c’est une fierté, ce sont des étapes qu’on a franchies avec Flo.

Sur scène il y a Flo votre frère donc, mais aussi votre père qui vient pour une chanson, votre mère apparaît sur les écrans géants et votre pote Wawad (champion du monde de beatbox, NDLR) qui vous accompagne depuis vos débuts. Pourquoi avez-vous tant besoin de cet esprit de famille ?

Il y a eux mais il y a aussi la famille qui n’a pas le même sang que nous, les amis et les techniciens. On est très attaché à eux. Plus tu montes, plus tu as envie de garder les gens qui étaient avec toi depuis le début. Ça rassure, ça apaise, tu sais qu’ils te disent la vérité et pas te brosser dans le sens du poil. Pour l’équipe technique, certes ils sont 40 aujourd’hui mais on a gardé ceux du début également. Les 10 qui étaient là dans les petites salles nous accompagnent encore.

Cet « esprit de famille », on le retrouve aussi sur les réseaux sociaux où vous partagez votre quotidien, notamment pendant les périodes de tournées. Comment fait-on pour tout partager tout en gardant une certaine part d’intimité ?

Ça a été un choix depuis le début. D’ailleurs, c’est quelque chose qui nous a été reproché. On est des gens très ouvert, dans tous les sens du terme : on parle de tout, on montre tout, on va dans toutes les émissions TV, etc. Du moment qu’on reste nous-même et qu’on prend du plaisir, on ne se force pas ou on ne s’empêche pas de faire quelque chose. Du moment qu’on reste BigFlo et Oli, qu’on montre toutes les coulisses de la tournée, quand on est sur Instagram à filmer notre quotidien, ça ne nous gêne pas. Et puis c’est aussi ça la magie de la vidéo : on montre tout sans tout montrer.

Quelle est la prochaine étape ? Allez-vous préparer ce voyage sur la Lune comme vous le dites dans votre dernière chanson qui cartonne ?

La prochaine étape, c’est la plus importante : on va bientôt se retirer. Aller se ressourcer et palper du vrai, vivre des choses. Comme je l’ai dit, ça va bientôt faire cinq ans qu’on a la tête dans le guidon. Et je pense qu’en tant qu’artiste – et en tant qu’être humain – on a besoin de souffler un coup. Et pour l’occasion regarder dans le rétroviseur et faire le point. Ça c’est dans un futur lointain on va dire. Pour le futur proche, c’est de continuer à faire rêver, à essayer de faire monter le show de plus en plus haut et de faire un bon concert aux Déferlantes. Là, on sera déjà bien.
