For me, worth it, kasi tapos na ako. Maraming opportunities ang nagbukas because of these degrees. I can be whatever I want to be. Oras, pera, at energy lang ang magiging problema.

Things to consider:

Age in itself is not a factor para makapasok sa med school or para mag-excel, pero habang nasa training, parang ang tagal-tagal ng 5 years; andami nang nangyari sa buhay ng batchmates ko, ako magsisimula pa lang mag-work

Magastos and exhausting in all other aspects

Your whys – I've always wanted to be a doctor because I wanted to help people. So when I found out na there are so many ways to help without self-sacrificing, naloka ako. I feel na halos wala naman talagang nakaka-appreciate sa trabahong ito: 'yung mga pasyente, feeling nila hindi sila inaasikaso, or pineperahan lang sila, or hindi naman daw effective 'yung mga gamot or bakuna ... puro reklamo. I also feel na better compensated 'yung nasa ibang field. Siguro, sasabihin ng iba, the grass is always greener on the other side.

Ultimately, depende siya sa kung ano 'yung "worth it" for you. May doctors na never nag-practice after pumasa sa board exam. 'Yung iba sa kanila pinilit lang ng magulang na magdoktor, 'yung iba naman nag-business or nag-asawa or both.

Sa kabila ng daily ranting ko, natapos ko siya, so happy ako. 'Yung nakuha ko rito ay confidence and courage to face almost everything in life (naks) saka napatunayan ko sa sarili ko na I have the grit to survive tough challenges. Even if hindi happy 'yung patient sa akin, happy ako sa sarili ko basta alam kong nagawa ko 'yung part ko at nabigay ko 'yung best advice and treatment available. And even if hindi ako mag-work sa hospital o clinic, 'yung MD, MBA nasa dulo na lagi ng pangalan ko. It's like a testament to my hardwork. I earned it, gano'n.

Disappointed lang ako na:

It's hardly possible to "heal" sick people. May conditions na treatable pero karamihan hindi, or may gamot man pero mahal naman or hindi available dito. Karamihan din ng mga sakit ay "lifestyle" diseases na; kaya nila nakuha 'yon ay dahil sa lifestyle nila, hindi gamot ang makaka-solve dun, makakatulong lang ang gamot na i-relieve 'yung bothersome symptoms or prevent worsening. May mga sakit din na treatable pero dahil sa environment ng tao, makukuha lang din nila ulit 'yung sakit. For example, bulate at ibang parasites, dengue, and siguro tuberculosis, kung hindi naman nagagamot 'yung patient zero sa paligid.

Hindi pa ako milyonaryo agad, at kahit mag-work ako for 5 years, malabo pa ring maging milyonaryo. I think karamihan naman sa healthcare sector may ganitong feeling. Grabe 'yung pagdurusa mo at effort, tapos 'yung sahod mo para kang kawawa. Nag-vlog ka na lang sana.

Anyway, isang tao lang ako, and pag kumausap ka ng sampu, most likely, iba-iba mga sagot naming lahat. 😉
