My heart is so full right now, I took one day off school and my best friend is telling me how much I was talked about today because people were missing me. One of them misses me dropping all the Doctor Who lore, one of them was likening me to a Hunger Games actor and one says I’m just generally funny I AM DEFINITELY NOT CRYING (particularly over the Doctor Who part)

There are games, performances (even Nelson has dressed up to take part in one), they break out the exotic food, they drink, there’s music and singing and it’s really just a day to celebrate Fish. At the end several of the crew members have worked out how to dye their hair blue and show her in a dramatic reveal by pulling off their hats in a dramatic bow and greeting and hope that the admiral will allow the slip in uniform for his daughter’s delight. from: Birthday wishes for Fish!

Fish had never looked so starry-eyed before, not even when she had seen Horatio’s house for the first time. She spent the entire day with a big smile on her face, giggling happily as she danced and sung with the crew. She had never gotten a birthday party before. A day, just for her? It seemed surreal. Sure, she had wondered if she would get a little hug from Horatio for the occasion, but this was something she could have never imagined, not in a million years. 

The final surprise was perhaps the most exciting of all. Everyone had blue hair, just like her! She had never felt quite so accepted, so loved, so at home that on this day. A happy yelp left her lips as she clapped her hands at the reveal. “BLUE HAIR!” she couldn’t help but exclaim, too enthralled to care about stating the obvious. She thought they all looked very dashing, actually. 

She held back tears for as long as she could, but couldn’t help but sob happily as she hugged her adoptive father before sleep that night.
