This is a cheap "frameless" Brother machine. The main way they make these machines so inexpensive is that they don't have a metal frame inside. Instead, all the parts are glued or bolted to the plastic housing. The main problems with this is durability (you can punch your machine right in the circuit board) and that the whole machine can flex and go out of line. There's a reason why no expensive sewing machine is constructed like this.

Here's a mechanical Pfaff. Pfaffs are annoying to work on because you cannot get at any of the parts without making the whole machine naked. My friends on discord had to listen to me scream into the void every time I had to take another piece of the shell off.

But as you can see, this one has a frame, so you can take the plastic housing off and it'll still hold all the components for you.

Here's the Singer Izek. While a computerized machine, you'll notice that there aren't really very many circuit boards in here, when compared to the Brother up there. This is because the computer on this machine is external. It links up to a Gameboy and the cartridge in the Gameboy is the machine's computer. Again, here it is with the frame separate from the plastic housing. You can tell this is like 2001 because of how long the wires are. As the machines get newer, the wires get shorter.

Most people uses a square frame-- which is totally fine to use don’t get me wrong-- it gives the most pixel in an area. My icons as you might’ve noticed are round instead of square-- which is totally fine, unless you consider using icons for more than just the face or something simple that doesn’t need a lot of room to accurately show what the character is doing.

For some context, my icons with frame at the moment comes at 168x168 pixels, but the part that is inside the frame-- the one where the icon should go to has a radius of about 108 pixels-- so 54 pixels. Slap that onto the area of a circle on google and it roughly means I have  9161 pixels at my disposal. Had my icon been a square that had been 11664 pixels.

That’s 2503 pixel loss that I can use, a 21.46% less pixel I have at my disposal for the action images, 21.46% that could be used for a more clearer depiction of what they character is doing.

Now I do have options to tackle this issue, 

- either increase the icon’s size in general to allow me some more headroom, 

- or make a change in the icon frame once again (which I am not planning on   doing yet as I’ve done that already yesterday) 

- or make the action icons frameless or have a frame specifically made for these  action icons

- just try and crap them in the current image size

All 4 of them have a drawback. Either I increase my icon size in general, or I have to edit an already edited frame, or draw a new icon in general, or be stuck with the limitation I have set myself. The first one is IMO the easiest of them all as I have the original size of it to begin with-- with it’s original size being basically 420*420 (blazeit), but I don’t know how my mutuals feel about a bigger icon.
