Had an exciting time at Halamshiral last night. The game broke at the door to the servant’s quarters (infinite loading screen) which meant I had to reload and retry multiple times - at multiple timestamps - until I found the issue. Which I never did. Eventually I launched the game directly rather than through Frosty and was able to progress, albeit back in the candy apple regalia. Cullen is just as charming and I never had to see Solas’ hat, so it’s fine.
Somewhere along the way my painstaking efforts to get the reconciliation ending failed. I must have missed a dialogue choice somewhere, because I could have sworn I followed all the steps... oh well. I blame whatever mod decided to crash the party.
Getting 100/100 feels pretty good, I consider that a victory.

So sorry if I haven't asked you yet !! guess who was sleeping 🥲
Why do they call it oven when you of in the cold food of out hot eat the food?
your answers will be documented and recorded:D👍
Was it a criminal, Snake Rattler is his name, yes?
You can't "of" a meal owned by "out hot," even if he has or hasn't eaten the food yet. We call it an oven because that's what the people from before named it, also by its definition.

Talking about Gale and such is making me think as best I can w my speeby brain. These are my thoughts on act III / epilogue stuff under the cut for spoilers
Truly if it weren’t out of paranoia for being locked out of the engagement route, which I didn’t get my first time, I wouldn’t endorse forgiving Mystra at all. This is separate from agreeing to bring back the crown. You can tell Gale to just forget the crown where it is, after the nether brain fight, and continue on with his life. For a while I thought that was a valid option, and Ren thought so too.
But, at least for Ren, leaving the crown for any old wizard to take? Feels irresponsible. Here he is, knowing where this powerful as fuck artifact is, and he’s doing nothing about it. To him it feels like he’s leaving the door open for the cycle to continue, and for another wizard’s folly to happen. I think forgiveness is not something Mystra deserves, and so does Ren, but also here is a way to prevent something terrible from happening yet again.

okay I've been reading a bunch of star wars books lately and I figured I'd review them here cause literally where else am I gonna talk about them
master and apprentice by claudia gray: I actually really loved this one! by far my favorite sw book I've read in a while. it's set before tpm, following qui-gon and obi-wan on a fairly routine mission but primarily focused on their relationship and how rocky it was in the beginning. I always love young obi books and this was no exception. I also really liked the writing style? often I can feel like sw books read kinda sterilized, esp disney canon like this one, presumably for some "brand integrity" shit, but this didn't read like that at all - it just felt like a rly good sci-fi novel. I'd had mixed experiences with claudia gray in the past, so this was a nice surprise.
brotherhood by mike chen: this was the other disney canon book I read, and although I still enjoyed it, I thought the writing was a little weaker than master & apprentice. this is set pretty soon after attack of the clones, and while it ostensibly focuses on anakin and obi-wan's changing relationship (hence the title), in reality they spent a large amount of the book apart, and it was pretty action-focused. it actually reminded me a little of the themes of secrets of the jedi, because both anakin's and obi-wan's povs dwelled frequently on their romantic attachments - padme and satine, respectively - in a clear narrative foil way. as someone who loved secrets of the jedi, I liked that part of it, but wished we had more interaction between anakin and obi-wan themselves.
survivor's quest by timothy zahn: this is a legends novel set after luke and mara's wedding, following them as they explore the wreckage of outbound flight and uncover a conspiracy. this was a good example of a slightly sterilized book - although zahn is obviously a gifted writer, and tried to explore nuance in luke and mara's relationship, the focus was still very much on the plot, and the relationship tidbits ended up feeling forced to me. I still enjoyed the book, but probably wouldn't reread it in a hurry.
tatooine ghost by troy denning: another legends novel, this one following han and leia shortly after their marriage. I only realized partly through that this one was released around the same time as attack of the clones hit theaters - while the plot is primarily about han and leia attempting to keep a rebellion code key out of imperial hands on tatooine, the "ghost" in the title is shmi skywalker, whose video journal leia finds and watches throughout the course of the book. as a result, we get a pretty exact summary of the events of the phantom menace and the rest of shmi's life, from leia's perspective. it was an interesting narrative device to use to frame leia's grappling with her father's identity. I wasn't able to fully enjoy the book, however - I felt like han acted kind of ooc throughout it, at times seeming to uncomfortably pressure leia to consider the idea of having children, or to resent her for her continued close involvement in the new republic.
these were the sw books on the top of my tbr, so idk when I'll get to more, but when I do I might make another post like this

AcademicRival!reader x Alhaitham???
im revisiting my childhood by listening to sum music Inspired by Nadarang because i was doing some journaling and i got an Alhaitham sticker recently and made me think rlly rlly hard. Like hard hard CW; slight-kinda iksekai’d au?, heavily implied filipino reader, slight archon quest spoilers(or not, but still putting it here in case cuz i might write smt i dont mean to), reader studies in the Akademiya, ooc Alhaitham??, crackfic-ish, not close to canon lore because i cant write for shit because of God knows what. somewhat swearing in filipino, modern au
It’s unbelievable how the Akademiya’s Scribe chooses to show off to you out of all the scholars he could choose as a “rival”. You had a really, really hard time keeping up with whatever tricks he’s got up his sleeve to “impress” you... “You ought to fix your posture, a proper scholar never slumps even with a ridiculous amount of theses and presentations due by the end of the week.” Stupid scribe, he doesn’t even get to report the same projects you’re working on, since he only record the Sage’s meetings or something close to that- “Are you even listening? Or do we repeat the lesson again since your pea brain doesn’t comprehend what you’re supposed to do as my assistant?” Blue-gray irises stare at you, obviously waiting for an answer. “Well?” “I’m not that stupid. I just spaced out for a bit since your voice irritates me to the point I should acquire special earmuffs just for you.” “How sweet. You’re actually self-aware of what I go through every session with you.” WHAT. He did not just use your insult to insult you so, would insulting him insult yourself since the insult was yours but he insulted you with it???? “ULOL POKENGINAMO BOBO KINGINA MO TANGINA KA HAYOP DEPUTA KA GAGO PAKYU BETCH” “?????????? what” “actually i want you to explain chapter 5 until 74 please, I don’t get what the lesson’s supposed to be” “Now that you mention it, you do seem like the type of idiot to require special attention to understand a topic.” how dareness?? Your eyes blown wide, you ask him— “Tinatawag mo ba akong lutang putangina ka?” “Are you calling me light-headed you mother fucker?” “Whatever you learnt in whatever universe you came from, I sure don’t understand what little complex language you’re saying right now.” “fuck you bi—” He always suggests you to have a one-on-one study session with him, if your schedule’s full, too bad that you’ll have to cancel everything because you’ll never win in reasoning with him. “You’re here again?? You know I can’t stay away from your bright demeanor, right?” “tf did you just steal a line from Shanti Dope??” “Okay so?????????” But really, he can’t stay away from you even for the love of his life. He wouldn’t admit to it though. i should stop writing based off of what music i listen to ngl

Tell me ur jon/jonah thoughts
I'm afraid that, while I have many Jonjonah thoughts, they're mostly incoherent snippets of ideas floating around in The Brain Soup. There's a couple varieties, mostly of my brain going "But what if..." -insert idea here- and then refusing to elaborate further.
Personally I'm very fond of AUs where Jon is also a regency man with an interest in the supernatural and they have a corruption arc together. I think they should go around London investigating statements and rumors of supernatural happenings. I like the idea that they were the only people doing research for the institute while it was still getting off the ground, and a lot of their correspondence and journals and papers would've been preserved (although most would be inaccessible/unknown to institute employees). Not sure how Jon would be surviving through the centuries though. Equally enchanted by the idea of him bodyhopping the way Jonah did, just being immortal as the Archivist, and hiding under the tunnels as a weird fucked up monster (I very much love monster Jon).
I've also seen a few AUs where Jonah finds Jon hanging out under Alexandria or something and bringing him back to London to be his Archivist (and maybe also help end the world a little bit). Everyone else is baffled and horrified but Jonah is smitten.
I am also weak to time-travel and/or universe-hopping shenanigans, either post s4 where Jon has to reckon with the Jonah he knew vs the (past? present?) version of Jonah. I think the most fleshed out (read: could be described in more than two sentences) idea I have for this would rely on a rewrite of s5 (at least the ending). I saw a couple posts about TMA ending with Jon trying to go through with his plan only for Martin to decide to kill him (rather than Jon volunteering to die in the hopes they'll end up somewhere else). Between those posts, a handful of "post-s5 Jon ends up in Jonah's time" AUs I've seen kicking around (mostly @/Paptato's "A Game of Cat and Mouse" and @/sm0kebreaks' "My Dear Jonah"), and my desire to see Jon succeed with his plan and kill the fears, my brain came up with the idea "what if Jon tried to get Jonah to do an apocalypse so he can kill the fears for good?" (Note: I often struggle to grasp what would and wouldn't be in character for characters that aren't mine, and this AU in particular may come across as somewhat (or very) OOC for Jon). It's mostly predicated on the idea that, having been betrayed by his friends and his partner for their own selfish ends, Jon came to the conclusion that the fears had to be stopped, and he was quite possibly the only person who both could and would, and wiping out humanity through a fearpocalypse would be the best way to destroy them for good. Thus he enlists Jonah's help in his armageddon quest (conveniently leaving out the part where Jonah would not actually live forever). From here the details get sort of fuzzy (is Jonah the archivist now? is it the Sims Institute?). Mostly I like to imagine them alone in the panopticon, watching the fears wither and starve, waiting for the end. Of course, I'm really not sure Jon would ever do... any of that? Maybe if his corruption arc went further, but I'm not sure the Jon we're given would willingly pursue the end of the world, especially after already being used to end it once. Also not convinced that he'd be very good at the subtle manipulation that would be required. However, I am still somewhat enamored by the concept of Jonah meeting stranger who clearly isn't quite human (possibly helping him recover from hopping realities?), enamored and intrigued by this mysterious person who promises eternal safety for Jonah if only he would help them. I think Jon might come to genuinely love and see some of himself in Jonah, but not enough to change anything. Honestly obsessed with relationships where there's this deep, intimate understanding between two characters, who are mostly on their own/disconnected from the other people around them, but there's still this yawning distance between them that they can't ever quite cross, and I think this specific AU could play into that really well.

Beatrix has the Default World state and I'm having fun with that because I've forgotten a lot of the details. I low-key forgot Alistair becomes king and I was really excited to meet him as the warden contact but that's ok I respect The Man The Myth The Mustache Warden Stroud.
This is also my first time with male Hawke in DAI and boi that man is STACKED. Thicc AF. Absolute tank of a mage. Biceps as big as Trevelyan's thigh. I love this for him.

Thinking about the desperation someone has to feel to follow an evil god — especially ones of the caliber of the Dead Three. Thinking about this irt the Angemonts — Ren’s parents specifically. I think they were the ones to have this idea of tying themselves to another deity. (I’m undecided on whether they would claim the ‘gift’ of storm sorcery from Talos before this, or if they would swear it off entirely…though typing it out they might do the former.) With such an unfortunate history of glory unceremoniously being cut off, of course there would be attempts to rectify this. And, well, the god of tyranny is no big leap for people such as Valrissa and her husband. To collaborate with Bane’s chosen is as easy as throwing a dinner party!

Day One - Somewhere in the Calebria Skyway
I’m starting this journal to record my findings on my journey. We set sail two days ago from the Sivella, but where my journey will lead me I cannot say. Our main destination as of now is Wizard City, which I haven’t visited since my graduation from Ravenwood.
Though they tell me this will take several weeks, as we must travel through numerous Stormgates. Though I’m quite excited to see the places we stop along the way, I hope to explore every world in depth one day and record it here for others to read.
I of course hope to speak to Headmaster Ambrose, Gama, and Bartleby. Especially about the conflicting stories of the origins of the Spiral.
Did you know the Marleybonians believe a giant bone hurtling through space broke up a giant continent into what is now the Spiral? Fascinating.
But as I was saying, I have many questions prepared. However I plan on learning all I can from all the people of the Spiral and summarizing all my notes and adventures here. To the end of possibly writing a fully composed history and culture of the Spiral.
They are telling me now that we are entering the Stormgate to Aquilla, which is said to be quite the stunning sight. Perhaps next time I write in this journal I will have many tales to tell.
Signed
Mindy Ghost

So I bought ane early access game called Kynseed because it seemed like the sort of sandbox game I have been searching for. It is!
The first thing I love about it is the art style. For a 2D game it is actually super pretty.
It has a lot of flaws that sorta drive me up a wall-- such as I have to remember the next step of the quest myself the task journal is no help --but it sounds like the devs have a lot of experience in their field, so I am happy to assume that they know what theyre doing and am otherwise enjoying the early access immensely.
But (and only very minor spoilers ahead because most of this is in the game description itself) the story of the game is that you make a deal with a great fae and oh boy is it a big damn deal.
So, you are an adopted orphan twin who "makes" friends with this guy Twig who teaches you how to fish. Twig is an AWFUL friend, seriously, who takes a 13 year old to this shady goat fae for their 13th birthday. And this motherfucker gives you the terms and conditions right up front-- at the cost of years off you life, that is in exchange for YOUR BODY when you turn 60, he will give a kynseed that will make you powerful. How, a smart person would ask? The Kynseed will allow you to TAKE OVER the body of one of your heirs when you turn 60 allowing you to continue playing and growing your family tree. All you have to do is dig up the seed when the time is right and hand it over BUT that binds your heir to the same contract. Shady Goat Face gets THEIR BODY TOO when they turn 60. And I hear you out there thinking, "well what if I just dont have kids, what then?" Oh no worries, if you arent interested in cultivating the sex life of your 2D PC an heir WILL BE PROVIDED FOR YOU because Goatface-o is a great fae and covers loopholes 'cause he is a nice guy. He even says so! Or says he is nice anyway, because this is just the kind of deals nice fae offer to 13 year olds.
Oh, and the reason you live only to 60 is because every year he is gonna take a life tax. Oh, and he will happily supply you with other awesome fae items in exchange for... MORE YEARS off your life. The Gluttons Trough, for example, that automatically feeds all your animals-- extremely tempting! Or, the one I chose, a Key that lets you travel faerie paths. When i figure out how I will actually be playing this game, as opposed to the prologue, i guess I will know which was worth YEARS OFF MY LIFE.
TWIG, WHY ?!?!?!
Twig is also a bit crazy, you see, i picked up a note of his and its a little bonkers. But he really adores Shady Goatmanson. The two are totes unrelated, of course.
What the actual fuck?
Anyway, the point of the game it to get married and have kids, but you can def be gay they specifically say so in game via an OOC: btw... Also, so far there is actually not a lot of, or any that I can recall, gendered language surrounding you and your fraternal twin of the opposite assigned gender even after you pick which you wanna play, so I mean, that is pretty cool personally and I pray they dont change that in the future.
In fact I would love to send the Devs a personal thank you note on the subject specifically, because I can be queer and both MC's stay nonbinary, but I dont know how.
Anyway, Im loving this game. If the Devs ever have a store with their own Kynseed collectable, tho, Imma have to pass. I DID read that contract and... hrm. HRMM.
