I think I restarted this like five times. But my favourite time was when I finished it, swear to god I saved the file, and the next day I’d lost like the last hour of work on it. Thanks photoshop.

Bora’s character plays with a lot of snake motifs, primarily the king cobra (despite his nickname being The Viper.) Each Machine MC has a major animal theme but I find his is the most obvious. I don’t have a favourite oc ooooo I would never.

Ooooo, who's your Hazbin OC?

I need to hammer them out because they were initially created in the haze and craze of the original pilot dropping, and then a lot of their lore ended up uh. Too similar to other canon characters? (whether this be because lore was added to canon in the meantime or I didn't notice at the time, idk).

Ofc I went for the most self-indlgent powerful Overlord option. They have a luck theme, being a rabbit with clover motifs.

They're interesting in that, on some level, they're a good person who wants to help people. But it's their.... methods.... that landed them in Hell. (Let's just say their and Alastor's dynamic is 'oh shit I wish we met when we were alive I would've LOVED to kill you!'.)

This still translates into their actions in Hell. Making contracts to help people out, doing the dirty work themselves. The contract itself provides them with power even if they never ask their contracted Soul to act on repaying them. (They get power, the contracted Soul gets protection). Risking themselves as well to help.

They're interested in Charlie's hotel and the idea of redemption, of course. They like to help people! Helping people to redemption and Heaven and being better? They love that idea! They want to help it out! But, of course, they don't believe they themselves will ever be worthy of the same redemption. They're fine with that, really! It's what they've always done: helping people at the cost of themself.

→ the armor is supposed to mimic ribs (in the torso) as well as musculature in some places (although I did not reeeeeallly take the time to look up actual muscle structure because I got lazy lmao so it’s most likely inaccurate), i like the idea of being fully armored yet also so exposed, which is also why I chose to have a heart motif w/ both the chest cavity being exposed and the sword “impaling” the heart. i guess it could also be a play on the phrase “wear your heart on your sleeve” and whatnot

→ even though I call this a knightsona, I don’t actually look like this anymore—my hair (for one) has gotten much longer, but I do think there’s something to be said about how my knightsona reflects me at a more challenging time in my life (or maybe, less interestingly, I didn’t think long hair fit with the design)

→ also, this is my very first time drawing a horse. why do horses look like that. why does the horse look like that. btw, the horse’s name is arsenikos, thank u to my wonderful friend miss chloe for naming the horsey for me!!!

Yes and no! Yes they are sun and moon coded for lack of a better word and no they are not literally the sun and the moon personified-

the one in green is named Virgo and he has a major sun motif (always brightly lit from behind+always smiling +orange hair+depicted in flower fields)

and the one is white is named Eui (full name is Euto but Eui is a nickname) has a major moon motif! (reflecting Virgos warmth +always facing towards/being pulled into the light but it never coming from her)

ALSO this metaphor is made really sad and yearning when I explain that Eui is albino and thus has extremely severe light sensitivity to the extent that looking at pretty much anything in direct sunlight will hurt her- which has horrible implications when your love intrest is sun coded….

OK cute explanations. enormous shout out to my friend sage @thymeloop for having the biggest brain and discussing with me yesterday at 3am as to who should everyone be.

protag (in this case, my guy, sergio) : he is a zoroark, but he has disguised himself his whole life as other pokemon. most recently, a meowscarda. : ) aghhhhhhh

zoroark is the trickster pokemon ! with its ability ilussion it can appear as any other pokemon, and in the anime it can also copy their moves. obvs sergio has disguised himself as other pokemon because zoroark are seen as untrustworthy lying tricksters. a. mask if you will. and well meowscarada as his chosen outifit because. well just look at it. completely covers his face from the rest of the world. but also fits his cat-like image and his phantom thief motif.

ann: pyroar ! fire lion with cute nice hair : )

ryuji: luxio ! electric feisty lynx with huge fighting spirit. dyed his hair blonde.

mona: purrloin is perfect. its a dark type cat pokemon that is known to be a thief and have a lot of tricks under its sleeve.

yusuke: glaceon! we considered alolan ninetales too , but personally i prefer glaceon since it has more yusuke vibes to me! ice fox with a sophisticated apperance..

makoto: lucario ! we had a hard time with mako but i decided on lucario! bullet-punching steel and fighting type, known to keep a serious face and be stern with others. also keeps its own moral code up.

fuba: orbeetle! cmon. funny weird psychic bug with UFO motifs. (hello g-max form) it also has telephaty. fuba..also made me like orbeetle way more hellooooo

goro: first a corvisquire, then after shidos palace, a corviknight. this pokemon was made for goro. crow knight of justice with a dark streak. look at corviknight. hello? black mask hello??? anyways in third sem outside the metaverse, goro doesnt actually have the usual corviknight face armor.. he just never seem to grow it outside the metaverse. so you can see his silly cute eyes : ) he tries so hard to be scary..

sumi: meloetta! ejheheh. i think, for her metaverse and her "kasumi" form, pirouette form with a ponytail is best! then, for her sumi form with glasses (that i didnt draw sorry.) , aria form is the way to go! a graceful, light-on-its feet kind pokemon !

Hi hello!!!! I do indeed love Starkid, and while npmd isn’t my faaaaaavorite of the hachetfield trilogy, (that honor goes to Black Friday, ily Black Friday), I do love the music and the characters, it’s definitely the most well produced in terms of its music. Very very cool

Ooooo the lord in black question is very difficult…..appearance-wise I’m gonna have to say Nibbly or Blinky. I really like eye motifs and eye imagery, so it’s a natural match.

As for Nibbly, he’s my favorite token™️ lord in black, for the costume and the aesthetic. Love him.

As for overall favorite, I’d have to go with Wiggly, surprisingly. This definitely has to do with my love of Black Friday, but he’s still my favorite overall villain from the trilogy, Jon Matteson’s voice acting is absolutely stellar, and his plush design is so so cool. I made little felt pins of the lord in blacks for Christmas for my friends, and wiggly actually turned out my favorite, he looked so cool. Maybe someday I’ll post some pictures of them lol.

I have so many ships with him it's not funny anymore 😔 I will try to be brief (page 1/quadrillion)

if I'm real most of my ships are just to see Swi get blushy and embarrassed all the time, and also because I like shared motifs and I think there's a bit of art behind him and another character being together. A.k.a. I can get really superficial sometimes.

Like recently I've been really obsessed with Finland & Switzerland um... its literally just because they look adorable together sorry ← SUPERFICIAL AS HELL!!! Sniper combo for the win though, I love shared motifs 😌

But I've been writing the most self-indulgent engswiss fic recently (every engswiss fic is self-indulgent) and I like how they get underneath each other's skin; put two insufferably stubborn men in one room with their pride a little bit too close to them and they're going to make out. (Ooooo my evil make out beam.....) Ahh but I love the idea of them trying to work together on a project, because I see Arthur have a sort of artistic and traditional sense to him compared to Basch who lacks that sort of umm extravagance as he may call it... but they both can't deny the lovely workings of a clock together haha

Honestly on that note I just love those friction-y (?) head-butting dynamics, so I love Romano x Switz as well huhu Romano x Switz is especially lovely to me because it explores Swi's idea of wealth and modesty (because I see Swi not showing off his wealth so extravagantly in certain scenarios so Romano is stepping on a nerve with his fashion taste)

If you want to ask about my number one favourite, it's easily fraswiss / swissfra . They're so goofy together (especially in cardverse and I have a lot to say for cardverse) . That overbearing personality to balance out Swi's strongly held barriers SO GOOD 🤧❤️ Francis will definitely start trying to get Basch to live life more fully by treating himself to that nice Rolls Royce he was eyeing, until Basch starts using Francis' money and suddenly Francis is like "Not in this economy mon amor please you have more money (per capita) than me." Switzerland occasionally takes a couple of France's stuff and calls it revenge from the Napoleonic times lol.

Anyways my sort-of-related sort-of-unrelated headcanon is that Basch shops in France to not face the atrocious prices in Switzerland (and also because he wants to not bump into Roderich again) but ends up bumping in Francis so really he's never winning.

(I think a lot of the Swi fans I know agree that fraswiss is great and wonderful and superb and amazing and splendid and just crazy good but maybe that's just me gravitating towards like-minded people LOL)

To be honest I really like childhood friends to lovers but edelweiss never stood out that much to me... (like, i really do like some concepts with them, and it's so hilarious to see Swi try his hardest to blank out any relationship with Austria, but I always struggled to envision something beyond that...)

Until my friend said for me to think about nyo!edelweiss instead. My life has changed. I love nyo!edelweiss. Everyone should take a hit.

There's also a lot of ships that my friends have hooked me up on... Two of them being Swissvene (Switzerland x Venezuela) and Portswiss (Portugal x Switzerland) especially. I love swissvene (explosion) (explosion) (explosion) and portswiss (explosion (explosion) (explosion) .

OH BUT I ALSO REALLY LIKE NEDSWISS GRAHHH (EXPLOSION) it's a wonderful look into both their equally fueled motives but their means are so different. They're so silently jealous but respecting of each other... But I honestly love them as just platonic too.

Also I headcanon that Swi gets seasick horribly easily. I will not expand on this.

Pruswiss has so much content on them as well ("so much" is like a couple lines from a CD drama for me okay) but I think it gets easily overshadowed in my mind by the frying pangle (I love frying pangle) BUT I LOVE PRUSWISS ANYWAYS ! Keep shouting at him Swi it's really funny .

Hikiko duo always has a soft spot in my heart because I love their similar mentalities but contrasting personalities and homelives like Kiku will always be like, "why is he (Basch) so bothered." and Basch would be like, "dude how is he (Kiku) always getting stepped on". But they're in the same boat of misery together, where they hate everyone surrounding them. They'd lock themselves in their rooms together and then realise they'd make horrible roommates.

8. for hamilton, i hope more people can appreciate aaron burr. he is the most underutilized character in the musical, and often times people just completely erase his character and characterization. i could go on for hours about aaron burr. his dynamics with everyone are amazing, and let's be real, leslie is arguably one of the most talented people in the cast. I love the use of motifs for songs (like wait for it and burn being the same notes, just at different tempos and with different rhythms) like the implications there that burr and Eliza have some similarities in these songs makes my head spin and keeps me up at night. of course, this is just me being insane for hamburr. like lin is a smart man. he worked on this for years. he did that on PURPOSE. also the fact that alexander is constantly singing other people's themes, like eliza's and burr's, almost mocking them with it. in jcs 2012 broadway, during jesus' arrest, judas is trying to run to jesus with and outstretched hand only to get flung away by a guard. no one talks about this. i brainrot over this moment. judas canonically was trying to rescue jesus. and when he's just centimeters away from touching him, they're ripped apart. also not really tiny, but under-appreciated. the temple scene. the implications of judas walking through while jesus/mary avoid it, the way he's staring at the dancers (men and women), and the fact jesus gets so angry he shoves him that hard. like oh god, they took an already dense scene and made it even more heavy. WHAT WAS GOING ON THERE???

8. What's an old project idea that you've lost interest in

Ooooo this is a hard one because I have ADHD, and so I lose interest in projects quite often -- but almost always come back to them. I have this one piece though that I started years ago that I haven't come back to regarding Elrond's council robe (the red one) being Cel's. It's two linked panels -- the first one being Cel giving Elrond some affection while she's wearing it, the second one being Elrond wrapping it around himself like a hug after she's gone. I'll come back to it eventually but currently it's languishing in my WIP folder.

Also I have a kidnap fam comic related to The Lion's Roar by First Aid Kit that I want to do but I unfortunately do not really understand how to make comics, and so that idea has spluttered a little bit. Really, I just need to take a stab at it, but y'know... eh.

my little theme thing for bw1 is like. childhood nostalgia. and the hiltwins represent lost childhoods. like. Very literally. sorry I turned your pokemon protagonist into a concept again. BUT YEAH so like in solisverse going on a pokemon journey is an important defining part of someones childhood. almost everyone goes on one! however. as we all know. the bw1 cast's journey did define their lives but uhm. in a bad way! in the worst way possible actually!

so like. the hiltwins disappear from unova because of a multitude of reasons (the stress of their newfound heroes of unova status and generally being shaken up from the whole. team plasma stuff etc etc) and its actually their absence from unova that defines their narrative role :) the hiltwins like.. ARE the reps for the idea of childhood basically. theyre the most childish and ambitious of the cast and their sudden disappearance from unova without warning mirrors the way cheren and bianca are suddenly thrust into being responsible and having jobs. yknow

and they themselves arent safe from the whole 'lost childhood' motif thing either because their disappearance is also an attempt to preserve the child in them that has already faded. running away from their responsibilities (and their friends) because as the most childish ones theyre also the most afraid of growing up. of losing their spark

And like, Seele and Hu Tao have a lot of butterfly motifs going on due to the death symbolism, crystalflies resemble butterflies (or maybe moths? I dunno much about them tbh, but Signora did have the pyro ones and as far as I know moths also carry death symbolism), and Paimon and Traveller speculating during the GAA Bake Danuki event about anemo being the default for crystalflies because their cores are the same as the anemo ones no matter the element after you catch them

Ooooooo! I’m not completely sure either but iirc while butterflies represent rebirth or souls, moths are actually an omen of approaching death and bad luck (dang maybe signora’s motif foreshadowed her death all along)

and ooooo crystaflies being anemo by default! Maybe they swirl up other elements depending on the nations (tho that makes geo and dendro outliers lol)

One of the venti designs I have does actually have a bit more of a butterfly motif, though that’s mainly taken from Seele (with a hint of the butterfly looking fabric from istaroth)

Mixing in some crystalfly traits sounds sick as hell I will absolutely be looking into this thank you!

Also I tend to write characters more on the natural/realistic side so I hope you're not disappointed he's not a wretched fantastical beast or a dude with super cool powers he's just a guy. He could be your neighbor for all we're concerned. Read more bc I can't shut up about him

He just. Looks very normal. He's a tiny gay loser car salesman from Boston with a husband and children, negative credit score, 30k in debt and in the sights of loan sharks because he's too stubborn to get through his head that his dream of being self made and successful is never gonna be realized. He also has a penchant for religion, although he stops going to church to get more time to try to make his business work. His dream is to have a successful job, a beautiful family, and being a pillar of community – he's the guy the American Dream is marketing itself to, and the kind of guy who's most let down by it

He gets tied up in some mafia business when they put him as a front for their own business in exchange of letting his debts go and leaving his family out of it, and he promptly uses it to abandon the aforementioned family, get filthy stinking rich, invest heavily in advertising and become one of the most well-known faces in New England & the East Coast in general because his face would be in almost every ad running on TV at the time. He also had a huge liking of fashion and apparel in general so he had a bunch of clothing lines, perfumes and accessories named after him. He also developed like 5 different mental illnesses from it because by the time he was famous he was also in his 40s and he experienced the most hardcore midlife crisis ever trying to keep up with the socialites and rich kids he'd surround himself with.

Then when the mafia drops him and it turns out most of his fortune was inflated by an overcomplicated money laundering scheme he sort of starts to experience the Horrors as he starts getting increasingly desperate to keep his life afloat due to all the mental illness he's accumulated, and after a particularly bad trip on LSD where he sees every version of himself from the past and future and beats the shit out of himself he decides he needs to shape up and let this life go for his own sake. So he calls his (now ex)husband and asks to go back into his life and he goes through this whole 20 year long healing arc with a lot of therapy and finds a new and exciting gender for himself (guy who is a mom)

Some other random facts about him is that he's catty, physically fragile, lowkey slutty and loves to overindulge himself. He can be very blunt and says the most insane things. As an old man (around 60) he has a tumblr blog where he ends up being like a B-celebrity. He enjoys serious and artsy media and his favorite book/movie of all time is American Psycho. He relates to Patrick Bateman because he believes him to be the sort of guy he could turn into if he let himself stay in the rich life for longer without seeking proper help, and being able to look at that guy and go "lol glad that's not me anymore" makes him feel Normal

As you can tell if you squint, his life story more or less mirrors the tale of Icarus, with the exception of the healing arc bit (he was saved from falling in the ocean!!), plus with his whole religious theme he also gets a "fallen angel" sort of motif that fits very well. There's more stuff to his life that makes his name and theming more interesting but I don't wanna keep you here all day

So yeah with all these themes you can tell every time someone talks about the myth of Icarus I just go "ooooo just like my blorbo" and forget that I made him close to the myth on purpose
