the first time you confessed to umemiya, it was an absolute disaster — but it wasn’t because he flat-out rejected you or anything.

after all, there was no possibility he could of rejected you — not when he didn’t even understand the depth of your confession.

when you’d finally plucked up the courage to say those three, incredibly difficult words, umemiya had simply blinked then beamed at you before exclaiming, “I love you, too! you’re my little sis!”

it wasn’t a rejection, but it stung just like one; and that was how you found yourself on the plush comforter of tsubaki’s bed days later, eyes achy but thankfully dry, spilling your heart out to him.

“a-and he just— he called me his little sister! it’s like it just — flew over his head, or something!” you huffed, trying desperately to bite back the fresh tears that threatened to gather in your eyes. tsubaki had already lined your eyes expertly with liner, and you were loathe to waste his meticulous work. tsubaki was rummaging through his vanity drawer, pulling out a myriad of items; some of them you didn’t really recognize, but you could deduce that they were used for hair styling.

“it probably did go over his head, doll.” tsubaki assented with a hum, hovering his fingers over the splay of styling wands atop his vanity.

you weren’t entirely sure why tsubaki had offered to do your hair and makeup — you knew it was a hobby he enjoyed, knew that he loved doing it for you, especially; heavens knows he’s done it many times in the past.

but all of those times were just for fun… this occasion was on a different level than the ones before it.

tsubaki was offering comfort and encouragement on levels that you couldn’t even begin to comprehend; he was so gentle when speaking to you and so careful when he applied your makeup — he sounded so genuine when he told you to keep your head up, as if he truly wanted to see you achieve your goal of successfully confessing to umemiya.

as if he wanted to see umemiya return your feelings.

you watched tsubaki with careful eyes as he finally grabbed the tool he was looking for — well, tools. he turned to face you and held up the two long styling wands with a smile.

“curled or straight?” tsubaki asked, and for a moment, you had trouble discerning what he meant — but then it caught up with you, and all you could do was blubber out, “whatever you think is best.”

tsubaki pouted and laid one of the wands back on the vanity.

“I think curls will frame your face a lot better,” tsubaki yipped. he pulled the comfy chair out from underneath the vanity and patted the bottom of it. “now come, sit.”

you robotically obeyed his gentle command and sat in front of the mirror. you scrutinized the layer of makeup tsubaki had applied to your face. it wasn’t anything super flashy, but everything he’d done enhanced each of your features in the best way possible. he truly was incredible at this. tsubaki hummed as he plugged the iron into the wall and set it to the side to heat up. his fingers were gentle when he ran them through your hair, massaging your scalp nicely.

“your hair is so pretty.” tsubaki cooed, that gentle smile on his painted lips. you smiled back through the mirror. guilt was still gnawing at your chest — you couldn’t help the way your skin crawled unpleasantly.

tsubaki loved umemiya — that much was obvious. he’d never tried to hide it, not even from umemiya himself. when you’d started to develop a crush on umemiya yourself, you’d felt so incredibly guilty for it.

you had sworn to keep it from tsubaki; but he was incredibly perceptive, and had pegged your crush on umemiya almost immediately. you truly expected him to feel sour or threatened by it, but he was so genuine when he beamed at you and offered encouragement.

everything tsubaki did seemed far too genuine to be an act… but you couldn’t help but feel a guilty nibble of doubt.

“hey, tsu…” you ventured gently, lacing your fingers nervously in your lap. tsubaki hummed in acknowledgment but kept his focus on your hair as he separated it into smaller sections.

“I… I really appreciate you doing this… but — why are you doing it?”

tsubaki’s hands stilled in your hair and his eyes shot to yours. you couldn’t quite decipher the look in them, but it didn’t appear to be angry; but you swore you could detect the faintest trace of hurt. but tsubaki blinked and it was gone, and his lips broke out into a soft smile.

“you’re meaning to ask why I don’t see you as a rival, yes? or why I’m perfectly okay with you being in love with umemiya, and even helping you out with getting him?”

your eyes widened fractionally and that guilt in your chest turned into a rabid beast. you broke eye contact with tsubaki and stared down at your hands. your throat felt too tight to speak, so you simply nodded.

“that’s simple, love.” tsubaki huffed with a small laugh. steam was rising from the iron now, and tsubaki plucked it up with expert fingers. he began to wrap a small section of your hair around the metal bar. “it’s because I want you both to be happy.”

you glanced back up. tsubaki still had that small, soft, genuine smile on his face as he worked your hair around the iron.

“I’ve been in love with umemiya for a long time,” tsubaki continued. “but I know he’d never return those feelings. and genuinely, I don’t need him to. I’m happy with the way things are between us.”

your heart constricted painfully at tsubaki’s words. you were just the same as him; hopelessly in love with umemiya. but the thought of umemiya never returning your feelings that way… it caused so much pain that it made you physically ill.

it must have shown on your face because tsubaki burst into a mini-fit of laughter.

“I’m sure it’s difficult to understand,” tsubaki affirmed, now finished with the left side of your head and moving on to the right side. “but it’s true. as long as I can love him, and see him happy, then I’m happy. after all, isn’t that all we want for the people we love? to see them happy and being true to themselves?”

you were struck silent. it made sense, it did; but you still couldn’t understand how tsubaki could stand the thought of seeing you with umemiya in the way he wanted to be — how he could remain happy seeing the one he loves loving someone else.

“I know you aren’t ever going to be able to fully understand it, and you’re always going to feel guilty in the back of your head. but that’s because you’re a good person.” tsubaki murmured, softly, running his fingers through the bouncy curls thrown over your shoulder. they looked amazing.

“but I want you to know that I want to see you happy, too. and I know that umemiya would make you as happy as you make him. and nothing would make me happier than seeing that.”

tsubaki meant it. you could feel just how truly and deeply he meant it. you’d promised yourself you wouldn’t cry and mess up his work, but…

“hey, no tears!” tsubaki barked playfully. “you don’t want mascara running down your face when you meet him, do you? speaking of which,” tsubaki had curled the last section of your hair and threw it over your shoulder. he placed the curling iron back on the vanity and used his hands to gently fluff your hair. “you’re all done! now,”

tsubaki waltzed to your side and reached down to cup one large hand over your wrist. you looked up at him and he beamed down at you.

“let’s go get your man.”

it had taken a bit of convincing, but tsubaki had successfully managed to get you into a flower-patterned, light yellow sundress and planted you in front of pothos thirty minutes after finishing your look.

you could see umemiya sitting alone at the back booth, a gentle smile on his face as he gazed out of the window beside him. your heart was fluttering in your chest and you swore your stomach was trying to claw at itself.

“be assertive,” tsubaki had insisted before he left. “word it in a way that leaves no doubt towards how you mean it. that’s what it’ll take to get through his thick skull.”

be assertive? how on earth were you supposed to do that?

you shook away your doubt and took a deep, stabilizing breath. you blew it out from between painted lips and reached forward to grip the knob, then opened the door as casually as you could.

pothos was empty save for kotoha behind the counter — she noticed you immediately and shot you a thumbs up, causing you to blush profusely. at least it was only kotoha here; you weren’t sure if you would be able to confess to umemiya if someone like hiragi or sakura were there.

umemiya, thankfully, hadn’t noticed you yet; but he was quick to do so when you had made it half-way to the booth. surprise painted his features for a second before they melted into a beaming smile.

“hey!” he greeted when you made it to the booth and slid into the seat across from him. your stomach was officially doing somersaults in your body, and you had a hard time maintaining eye contact with him. “tsubaki asked me to come here, so I thought he’d be here, but… I mean, don’t get me wrong! it’s super nice to see you here, but is tsubaki okay?”

you swallowed and willed your cheeks to cool down.

“uhm, yes, tsubaki’s fine—”

“oh, that’s good to hear! so, why isn’t he here? or is he just running late?”

a twinge of irritation rocked your unsettled, nervous gut. this was already incredibly nerve wracking, and if umemiya didn’t stop chattering, you’d lose any semblance of confidence you still had.

“actually, uh, tsubaki asked you here to meet me.”

umemiya’s blue eyes took on a shade of surprise and confusion, and fuck, why were they so pretty? this was starting to become very difficult. oh, no, what if you choked up?

“you… wanted to meet me? why didn’t you just ask me yourself?”

because all of my systems are nervous and I have the biggest crush on you, you thought bitterly, but forced yourself to remain physically calm.

“I, uhm… I wanted to t-talk to you.” you stuttered out, looking down at the table. shit, your throat was getting tight. you needed to hurry and get it out before you shut down or clammed up.

“oh, well, is everything okay—”

“please just stay quiet for a bit,” you rushed out, and distantly, you knew your wording was a bit rude, but you couldn’t have umemiya interrupting you during this. if he did, you’d most certainly choke.

you sucked in a shaky breath and kept your eyes downcast as you started, hesitantly, “the other day… I, uh, I t-told you that I loved you but… I don’t think you understood what I meant.” your eyes were feeling very warm; almost as warm as your cheeks. damn it, you couldn’t stop now.

“I guess maybe I’m to blame for that.” be assertive. “I didn’t word it the right way. umemiya, I… uhm… I’m—”

be assertive.

gathering up every ounce of courage you could scrounge, you lifted your head and met his eyes head on — blue clashed with your own, and umemiya’s face was attentive, and maybe even eager; you felt a bit more confident from that.

“I’m in love with you, umemiya.”

the silence that followed felt like it stretched on for centuries — umemiya stared at you, and you stared back. it was as if everything else had melted away, and your body was vibrating with multiple sensations that you couldn’t even put a name to. nerves, anxiety, dizziness, oh god, why wasn’t he saying anything? was this just some big mistake? what if he didn’t even respond back, or worse, what if he rejected you—

light, warm, bubbly laughter — umemiya was laughing. your heart dropped in your chest and tears pricked at your eyes; you didn’t want to cry, but you couldn’t help the way this reaction hurt. it hadn’t even been one you’d considered a possibility. all you could do was stare at the man as his laughter faded slowly into small chuckles. your entire body was burning, you needed to get away—

“you know, I’m really glad you decided to confess here.” umemiya said, halting your brain and knocking you into a state of confusion. his pretty eyes met yours, and they looked so soft — warm, like a cloudless summer sky.

“I truly can’t think of a better place for a first date. that is, if you’re up for turning this into an impromptu first date?”

at first, you couldn’t quite digest umemiya’s words. a… date?

a date.

a date?!

you nearly choked on your own spit; your heart had abandoned its journey to your stomach in favor of leaping into your throat. umemiya was staring at you, softly and patiently, eyes clouded with something that you couldn’t recognize.

“a… date?” you echoed back, and umemiya nodded.

“a date.” umemiya confirmed before leaning back in his seat. “I mean, I know it’s not how I would have done it — if it were up to me I would shown up at your door with flowers and asked you myself, but… this could work too. if you want it to.”

you couldn’t breathe — you were happy, you were nervous, you were full of disbelief; was umemiya being serious?

his eyes said yes. you swallowed thickly and smiled shyly before nodding. umemiya brightened significantly and gestured to kotoha.

“how about something special, kotoha? it’s our first date so bring us something yummy!”

truthfully, you couldn’t bring yourself to feel any pity for the trouble umemiya was suddenly stacking onto poor kotoha. you were too lost in your own world, happy and warm and fuzzy. you were officially on a date with umemiya — sure, it happened pretty fast and you were about ninety percent confident this was some fever dream you’d conjured up, and you weren’t actually inside pothos but rather outside of it still watching umemiya —

but, if you pinched yourself and still found yourself in this booth, you’d call tsubaki later to thank her.

I've been talking to some of my F1 friends, and there's so much confusion about how and when they met because these two people have barely been in the same country at the same time. This is, of course, if we go off the common perception that Zhou Guanyu was definitely the person who introduced them.

luckyluna9364 OP · 1 hr. ago this thread is getting super active after lina's livestream so i'm doing my best to summarise what ppl are saying: - a much longer relationship than anticipated is highly possible; lina was still pretty vague with the timing all she really said was 'long enough' what long enough is to her is up to debate (most are keeping the benchmark at 7mo) - lina mentioned her aunt (zhou guanyu's mother) has invited them to have dinner in shanghai which means that not only has lina's family known and met oscar but also that lina is stopping over in shanghai for a bit before performing in shenzhen (exciting news for the oscalina stans) - her freezing up suggests that she and oscar were keeping a lot of the relationship private or even secret for a while and it was genuinely a mistaken slip that wasn't at all supposed to happen (one can only wonder how oscar reacted) - a couple people think that EB planned the tour schedule around the F1 calendar (there are quite a few overlaps in races and shows) which would mean that they were together BEFORE tour announcement which was back in november - one user is betting their life savings that they met before oscar's f1 debut, for that user's sake i hope it's true.

Buddy was watching a movie with the kids on the projector.

Bee and Smokescreen had just gotten back from patrol.

Arcee was talking with Optimus and Ratchet about something.

The Wreckers had managed to get Magnus to throw a lob after days of pestering.

Truly a lovely day.

Until the portal spawned in the center of the base.

“Oh, not this again!”--Buddy

Buddy shields the kids with her frame.

“What do you mean again!”--Miko

“Trust me this has happened more times than I would like to have! The travel is awful and the lands are worse!”--Buddy

“And that’s story to tell for another time!”--Ratchet

“How do we stop it?!”--Wheeljack

“You don’t! You either get sucked in or something—”--Buddy

BANG!

The light disappears.

“—something comes out.”--Buddy

There in the middle of the bases floor were three mechs sprawled out, groaning from their rough landing.

Three very familiar looking mechs…

Oh no…

The kids could feel Buddy shake at the sight of the newcomers.

The three mechs stood up and scanned their surroundings.

There was no doubt that they were Megatron, Starscream and Soundwave.

They had different paintjobs with similar frame structure, but that wasn’t what Buddy was focusing on.

She was focusing on the blue optics staring at her.

The blue optics she once looked into when she was a sparkling.

The blue optics of Megatron.

Buddy and SG! Megatron staring at each other.

Optimus and Ratchet immediately get in front of her.

Starscream and Soundwave stand up slightly in front of their leader who was just starting to stand.

Tense silence.

Megatron holds eye contact with Prime.

“We do not mean you any harm.”--Megatron

“And how do we know this isn’t a trick Megatron?”--Ratchet

Megatron looks at Starscream and Soundwave.

All three drop their weapons, surprising the Autobots.

“Megatron?”--Optimus

“As I said before. We do not mean you any harm.”--Megatron

“You are not our Megatron, am I correct?”--Optimus

Megatron nods.

“We come from an alternative universe. You seem to know my name as Megatron. This is my loyal Second in Command, Starscream.”--Megatron

“And my third in Command Soundwave.”--Megatron

“Hi!”--Soundwave

Almost everyone visibly jumps back.

“Did—did he just speak?”--Wheeljack

“Sometimes more than usual Soundwave.”--Starscream

“Yeah. Sorry about that one time Screamy.”--Soundwave

Starscream shakes his helm fondly as Soundwave scratches the back of his neckcables.

“We come from a world that is near opposite to yours.”--Megatron

“How do you know that?”--Ratchet

“Our chief scientist, Shockwave was experimenting on the latest relic we managed to acquire from the Autobots. There was no telling what they were going to do with such a relic. Shockwave had enough time to tell us some of the basics before the blast came through.”--Starscream

Optimus nods at the new information.

“How are you guys getting back home?”--Smokescreen

“Shockwave was making a failsafe in case something like this happened. In theory we should be back in a couple of hours. But seeing as he was halfway done with it when the flash came in… a week at most.”--Soundwave

Megatron turns to Prime.

“Will you allow my mechs and I a place of refuge until then?”--Megatron

Prime thinks before agreeing.

Optimus in turn begins to introduce himself and the rest of the team.

He named Buddy last.

This certainly had gotten a reaction from the three Cons.

“This is Buddy, our archivist and technical support of the team.”--Optimus

All three mechs stare a bit at Buddy.

Soundwave kneels down and gently pats Buddy’s helm.

“It’s--it’s good to see ya kid.”--Soundwave

He stands back up, making room for Starscream to kneel.

He offers her his servo to shake.

Buddy shakes it hesitantly.

Starscream just smiles.

“Pleasure to meet you Buddy.”--Starscream

Buddy took the first step towards this Megatron.

It wasn’t the fact that he took a step backwards that surprised her the most.

It is his optics.

Fear.

Sorrow.

Regret.

Hope.

What happened to him?

Buddy slowly approached the giant and held out her servo.

Slowly he grabbed her servo.

It was shaky.

Nothing like the strong death grips she had grown accustomed to.

After the exchange it was settled that the three Decepticon’s would stay until their Shockwave got them home.

It was extremely tense around the base.

Starscream, strangely, got along well with some of the bots. This just surprised them when they found this Starscream to be way more tolerable than the one they knew.

For one, he wasn’t trying to kill Megatron ever second.

Starscream was surprised to hear his counter part wanting to do that to his leader.

He would never try and do that to his Megatron!

He was also caring to others, which was another shock to the team.

Bumblebee trips on a stray cube, slightly skinning his knee.

“Oh! Here let me.”--Starscream

Starscream pulls out a mini mesh kit to fix the joint.

Confused Bee noises intensifies.

Soundwave got along best with the kids and younger Bots.

It was only natural.

There almost wasn’t a second where he wasn’t making some sort of noise, whether it be music or talking, much to Ratchet’s dismay.

It was rare to hear him go silent.

He has mixed feelings about his counterpart’s silent but deadly behavior.

Mainly because he can’t stand so much stillness, ironic being the master spy he was.

Soundwave and Miko jamming out to some rock ballads.

Ratchet looking with horror from afar.

“Oh Primus… there’s two of them now…”—Ratchet

Megatron stays mostly by Prime’s side as the two would have nice talks.

He was the slowest to be integrated into the group.

He did ask about his counterpart, but he noticed that no bot would outright talk about his alternative whenever Buddy was in the room.

There were always side glances towards Buddy’s direction.

Worried glances.

One thing each of the Decepticons noticed fast was that Buddy was never left alone with any of them.

Usually, she was accompanied by a bot or two.

But whenever Megatron came, it almost doubled in numbers.

Soundwave was the one who brought it up one day as he plopped down next to her.

“So, Buddy… how’s your Megatron doing? I mean why haven’t we seen him with you?”--Soundwave

“We aren’t exactly… on talking terms Soundwave.”--Buddy

“How come?”--Soundwave

Buddy looks over at Soundwave and the other Con’s nearby.

“I think you might want to sit down for this.”--Buddy

They quickly sat down by Buddy, as some of the other bots sat down close by.

She knew why, but she continues.

She took a vent in before telling them her story from the beginning.

From the moment Megatronus found her.

From the times she remembered being in Orion Pax’s care.

From the times she was snuck into the gladiator quarters.

From when she met Soundwave and the minicons.

From the Senate meeting.

From the last time seeing Orion and Ratchet.

From when the war started.

From when the training had begun.

From when Megatron left, leaving her to control the army.

From Megatron’s return with the Dark energon.

From Megatron’s worsening training and ideals.

From Megatron’s second death and her having to take care of the army once more.

From Starscream’s ideals and the pushing.

From Megatron’s return.

The Decepticons had gone silent.

Soundwave was the first to reach out for a hug.

It felt familiar, yet different.

Starscream was the next.

Who knew Starscream could give out good hugs?

After a pause he asks if it was okay to hug her.

Buddy had leaped into his open arms before he could finish the sentence.

She buried her faceplate into his neck cables hugging tightly.

Megatron hugged tight too but minded his strength and size.

He gently stroked her back.

Buddy lightly hiccupping in Megatron’s neck cables.

Buddy finally faces Megatron.

“It—It wasn’t your fault. You had—had nothing to do with my Megatron’s actions.”--Buddy

“…Something happened to my alternative, didn’t it?”--Buddy

“…Yes…”--Megatron

That was when he told her about his Buddy.

From when he found her in the alley.

From raising her with his friend Orion Pax.

From meeting Starscream and Soundwave.

From the Senate meeting.

From the last time she would see her uncle Orion storm out of the chamber.

From the time Nemesis Prime had arisen.

From the time she had been a shining beacon of hope amongst the soldiers.

From the time she disappeared.

From the time Soundwave and him found Prime holding her by her neckcables, struggling out of his grip.

From the pleas.

From the last ‘love you’.

From the blast of the cannon.

From holding his daughter’s offlined corpse in his servos.

From moving to Earth.

From the continuation of the war.

Buddy only hugged him tighter.

He needed it.

They both needed this more than anything.

It was at that moment the light came through.

It was time for them to leave.

The Cons saying their good-byes to everyone.

“If you ever end up in our universe, wouldn’t recommend it, feel free to ask for any of us! Maybe we can show you the base!”--Soundwave

Megatron and Buddy give each other one last look before the three walk to the light and vanish just as fast as it came.

They both knew that the alternative couldn’t replace the other, they lost to time. But it still felt good knowing that somewhere in the universe, one was alive and well.

No, absolutely, let's talk about it. Because this?

This is terrible. Comically bad. The worst anyone's ever done it, I'm sorry to say. The toast looks like it's covered in coal dust. The tea (? I hope it's tea, might as well be Ye Olde Cuba Libre) has clearly gone cold. Ed spooned the marmalade directly onto the tablet instead of just leaving it in the jar like a sane person, for fuck's sake!

Of course that's deliberate; they even make sure we know what the platonic ideal of a nice breakfast tablet looks like with the title card.

It's like an Expectation vs Reality meme. There's a flower, there's porcelain, there's even a plate! Ed, I know you've had breakfast before, why are you so bad at this?

Because, of course, this was doomed from the start.

Ed is panicking, because he knows falling into bed together right after everything that happened in 02x06 was a mistake, and he's desperately trying to salvage the situation.

Ed wanted to take things slow, because he wants stability. He wants to pursue happiness. He wants to build a beautiful life with someone he loves! Breakfast in bed every day!

Instead he to watch the love of his life be tortured in front of him, because of him, and then had to watch him intentionally kill a guy for the first time in his life - also because of him! This is the opposite of what he wanted, for himself or for Stede.

He wanted them both to be safe and happy, but instead they had an evening of horrible experiences and then had sex about it. It's all coming crashing down. Aside form the worst breakfast spread in known history, look how the scene is shot and coloured: The slightest green tint, just enough to turn the light harsh and cold, how far apart from each other they are. Tons of empty space in the frame. How they are backlit, so they are in the shadows, their faces barely discernible.

This isn't a happy Morning After. This is them standing at the ruins of what was supposed to be a beautiful moment, but the violence of piracy broke into it and destroyed it.

Ed knows he needs to leave it behind, once and for all. Throws out his Blackbeard kit to make his decision to abandon the pirate life irreversible. Tries to have a soft, domestic moment, shares the lovely story about Merstede coming to rescue him, in an attempt to salvage his dream of retirement with Stede.

But Stede? Oh, Stede is on an entirely different page. He just had his first real taste of the power violence can grant him. While the torture wasn't fun, in the end, he triumphed! Defended his love, defended his crew! And topped it all off with what was probably the first positive sexual experience in all his 40whatever years of life! He's patronizing and kinda bitchy about the whole spread, because he doesn't get what Ed is trying to tell him. All he sees is Ed being terrible at this domestic bullshit, but that's okay because he thinks he's terrible at it too!

They'll just sail the seas, terrorize the various empires and have adventures together, forever and ever! That's the dream, right? Right???

What baffles me about zosan isn't that it's popular, bc people will always love enemies/rivals-to-lovers; what i find crazy is that it's the most famous ship in op out there like, the numbers in ao3 for instance, they're insanely high compared to other ships. I don't get it man what am i missing???

as u may know I am "playing in my sandpit ignoring the other sandpits until someone throws a shovel at my head" type of blogger when it comes to ships BUT I will say I have no idea. i have no idea. one thing about me is i will never ever ever be choosing enemies/rivals over the soft "i would die for you I understand u like no one else you make my journey better you are my soulmate (platonic or romantic)" pairing. its just never going to happen. I didn't go into op expecting to have a ship but as soon as I saw zoro heave the cage luffy was in over his head with a stab wound in his stomach (after watching luffy sail across the ocean for the demon pirate hunter) I knew it was all over for me. I couldn't even entertain the other ship(s).

I will say. TENTATIVELY AND VERY QUIETLY. that while I support other ships u go honey boo boo ship what u want. I don't like the way that side of the fandom can at times twist canon? which we all do from time to time (myself included) but one particular moment that was weird to me was when ppl were mad that zolu got so much attention in the live action (which godbless the zolu numbers are strengthening by the day) bc it "focused on the wrong relationships" and I...... I hate to break it but canonically zoro and luffy and the romance dawn trio are so integral. there's also the fact that people will say "you can't ship luffy because luffy is aroace" almost exclusively only when zoro is involved. which is a conversation in itself that i'd need a second cup of coffee for.

sidenote: also sanuso ??? being dismissed ????? and people saying they can't see it???? u can love ur rival to lovers ship all u want but it doesn't stop the fact that usopp is sanji's babygirl and their relationship can be SO flirty.

long story short idk i feel like zsn was just the name brand ship for so long (and from what i've gathered there was a certain level of taboo to certain other ones). I can't speak for other platforms but at least tumblr content wise the smaller ships are getting a bigger presence

So @hyperfixatedfandomer made this castlevania AU where Olrox- instead of killing Richter’s mom, Julia- he kidnaps Richter as a way to get back at Julia and it turns into a bittersweet, very dark angsty, and twisted father-son dynamic that the two create. I loved this idea so much as it had so much depth and angst!!!

I made some doodles based off of some of the post OP made and also based off of Jinx and Silco’s dynamic from Arcane!!! The grown-up 19 year old Richter in this is my own spin on how I think Richter would develop, yk from being literally kidnapped and all and also from Richter’s mom accidentally traumatizing him in my version of this AU

Richter, in my Version of this AU, would definitely develop PTSD (as he already does in the show) from an event of his mother and no, not from her dying, but from her rejecting him (out of grief and rage- she was NOT level-headed during this) after he “accidentally” kills Juste (her father). He also develops psychosis/paranoia as he starts to see this giant dragon/snake that is eerily similar to Olrox’s other form as a way to say that the Richter’s inner child is still there and resents Olrox for kidnapping him and a part of him views him as a monster BUT he hates his mother more for hitting him and leaving him BEHIND with said monster so he develops this very unhealthy and clinginess with Olrox (Richter also does eventually develop to love Olrox which makes it confusing and difficult for Richter). What’s worse is that Olrox excuses this behavior because he views him as his son and doesn’t want to lose anyone else. Like I said, this is a twisted familial (FAMILY/PLATONIC ONLY) relationship 😭

word of god, not canon, also explicitly retconned with the presence of whitey bay on his crew in the oden flashback. there are also women who captain subordinate fleets who were clearly fighting alongside him at marineford. shanks's crew has no women at ALL yet no one ever comes at him about it??

even if it wasn't retconned, he served on the same crew as buckingham stussy, charlotte linlin and gloriosa. man knows women will fucking murder u.

he's very much portrayed as an old-fashioned 'dad' figure and OP's world is one in which sexism still exists. it's misguided but not unexpected for him to insist that his 'daughters' aren't put in even more danger because of his orders because he wants to protect them, but honestly given what we've seen of him if they wanted to fight he could NOT stop them lmao

ace is still alive. he didn't raid marineford for vengeance but to preserve a life that can still be saved

thatch and oden are dead and attempting to avenge their deaths would have racked up countless more casualties not just from facing off against kaidou or blackbeard's crew, but because in that big fight, he would be vulnerable to attack from other emperors and also the world government.

kaidou specifically used the raid on marineford to try and attack his flank, and was only stopped because shanks stepped in. wb only took the risk of raiding marineford because he felt that the life of one of his crewmembers was worth it, and he's explicitly pointed out that he would do the same for any other crewmember.

the fact that the navy only ever had the guts to try and execute ace because of his lineage speaks to how serious wb is about that particular threat.

"why didn't he listen to shanks??"

shanks wasn't telling him anything he didn't know. he already tried to stop ace, i don't doubt they've tried to call him back, but ace is also a pirate and whitebeard told shanks to butt out in order to preserve ace's reputation and autonomy. he respected ace's wishes to do what he felt was necessary and then he took responsibility for it on ace's behalf.

ace failed! he fucked up! ace felt ashamed enough, and whitebeard knew that, so he took the blame on himself as his father so that at least in the eyes of the world, it was his own reputation that took a beating and not his son's. i know a lot of people don't recognize that, but it is very much a selfless act of love and care. allowing his kid to make a mistake and then taking responsibility for it and helping him recover from it is the role of a good father

he maintained order in the new world for 20 years after roger's death. he was a terminally ill dying man whose mere presence stabilized hundreds of islands because people were so afraid of him. he isn't overconfident or arrogant at all, he's more than earned any confidence he displays

he is BOTH trading on reputation AND monstrously powerful, but even he says that he's no longer at his peak and people don't live forever. it's well established that he knew he would probably die at marineford, and given the shrewd choices he made all throughout that battle, it's more than reasonable to assume that he prepared the crew for that possibility

ace got them into that mess. he sure as damn hell would not have been a better captain, nor did he WANT to be a captain. ace never wanted to be captain or find the one piece or whatever, he wanted a family and he found it with whitebeard. ace was doing exactly what he wanted as whitebeard's 2nd division commander and all whitebeard wanted for him was to do what he wanted to, not force him to become PK

ace turned back because he couldn't shrug off an insult to whitebeard, and i'm mad at him for it, but it's also completely understandable why he did that. he's a sympathetic, nuanced, great character exactly because of that.

it takes a LONG time to train up haki, ace obviously wouldn't have had the opportunity to properly learn it when luffy could only manage it because one of the most refined users of haki who had all the time in the world to spend training him took luffy under his wing for two years. how the hell was ace gonna learn haki under whitebeard when whitebeard has 1600+ members to take care of and numerous territories to defend. he was growing at a very reasonable rate, it's not ace's fault nor whitebeard's that luffy's pace is so wildly accelerated

"marco didn't do a good job leading the crew"

they were together for a YEAR after marineford and still mustered the forces to fight a war. the story that circulated is that they attacked teach out of vengeance for whitebeard, but marco explicitly says that they moved on blackbeard because he was invading sphinx/other territories

marco is a careful, thoughtful guy. sphinx looked just fine. we heard the WBPs got scattered, but we didn't hear about any mass casualties and he also did not seem all that torn up about what happened during the payback war. actually, the fact that plenty of them and their allies were still alive and kicking for weevil to attack in the timeskip speaks to them being pretty okay after the payback war, if scattered. there's a lot that's still unrevealed about that conflict and i'm not casting judgment until we find out what

"whitebeard doesn't act like an all-powerful captain and he couldn't control the crew"

he's their dad. a dad doesn't exist to impose his will on his kids and force them to follow the path that he wants them to, his parenting is clearly in the style of 'give them a place to grow and thrive and don't worry about that other stuff, with some ground rules like don't be trafficking drugs or slaves or killing your crewmates'

the operation fell apart because blackbeard betrayed every ideal of whitebeard's and took advantage of his trust and kindness. so it's the betrayal of the ideal of 'family' that hurt them, not a problem in how the crew itself was run. it did, after all, function well-- better than any other operation in the new world-- for several decades.

─ Temporary vacation in another world? It sounds a lot better than that assignment you have to turn in in two days.

─ You will leave even the simplest task alone to see how this crew does the most trivial things like cleaning or cooking.

─ Whitebeard never thought that he would find someone lazier than Ace, although you are not lazy, you just enjoy things until the last moment.

─ Marco scolds you a lot because he says that it is not healthy to go through so much stress in a short period of time for something that you could have done before calmly, the excuse that you work better under pressure is not valid for him.

─ Ace tries to get you not to stop doing what you're doing for something else more entertaining, but you also find his narcolepsy much more entertaining than some of your pending works, he tries to help but it's also a distraction.

─ Thatch will also try to help you with your homework when he has free time, but one, either he doesn't know how to help you because he doesn't understand what you're learning, or two, he'll start blabbing about any gossip with you.

─ If you really want to do your tasks on time and calmly, Izou is probably the one who will let you have the least distractions, but for now you still prefer to be a chaos of anxiety because you don't know if you will complete the work on the deadline.

I mostly wanted this acc to be specifically for art, not rly for anything else but i need to get this off my chest. Obviously if you’ve been on twitter, you’ve probably seen a lot (and i mean a LOT) of hate towards gay ships/shippers recently, (first w togachako, then w stsg) i wanna address all the weird shit thats been happening w jjk dudebros lately. Idk what it is but they’re rly upsetti spaghetti abt even the mere thought of stsg being more than platonic besties, going so far as to shoot down any hint of them being romantically inclined in the slightest - so i thought that i’d take it upon myself to provide poof that stsg has queer, romantic subtext since ppl are being extremely obtuse abt them, all for the sake of protecting their friendship from us evil gays. (other shippers do this too but im mostly focusing on dudebros bc they’re the ones primarily acting like assholes to us for no reason, like yeah, sure, some stsgs are extremely cringey & weird but that can be said for ANY shipper in ANY fandom. When you’re in a fandom as big as this, of course there’s gonna be some bad eggs, it’s inevitable.

ok so. !!DISCLAIMER!! i do not speak japanese, so if i say something incorrect then please correct me. i’ve done enough research to be sure that what im saying is right, but im only human, and sometimes, i might be wrong. so, take what im abt to say with a grain of salt. (just in case).

first off, it should be stated that gege akutami, the creator himself, is an avid bl fan (and ik what ur thinking, ‘oh, that doesn’t mean anything! just bc u read bl, it doesn’t mean you’re likely to write gay relationships into ur own manga!’ which is true, gege HAS said that he doesn’t want to write romance in jjk. HOWEVER, as much as i love stsg & see them in a romantic light, i do definitely think that the reason why their relationship feels so ambiguous is bc gege intentionally made it that way. i think he made their relationship up to the individual’s interpretation. And for ppl who’re thinking ‘why would he do that?’ well, he doesn’t like writing romance, right? so this is the next best thing he could do. and also i have to point out (in case ppl get defensive), gege literally does not and will never care if ppl ship stsg or not, again, he’s a bl fan and if anything - all of the evidence that im going to talk abt proves that he most likely ships stsg himself, so… 🤷‍♂️

2. i’d like to talk about s2’s op & ed which are HEAVILY romantically coded. If you don’t know, the op was written to be from gojo’s pov & vice versa with geto for the ed, the op in particular is a very special case. The song is explicitly abt reminiscing the past , wishing gojo had noticed geto’s sorrow sooner and it also mentions a ‘silent love’. the word ‘love’ being used here is ‘koi’ which EXCLUSIVELY means romantic love… now, since this song was specifically written with gojos pov in mind, doesnt it seem kind of weird to have the word for ‘romantic love’ in there?? (koi can be referred to as ‘young love’ or having a ‘crush’ on someone…. hm… ThAts WeIrD.) instead of using ‘ai’??? which would make more sense if stsg were just besties bc ai is more general and can be used towards friends & family.

and then ofc there’s the whole theme of ‘blue spring’. director park (who directed s1 & jjk 0) has stated in an interview that geto was gojo’s last warm spring of youth. now if you dont know, spring of youth/blue spring means a time in a young person’s life where they have hope and happiness… in animanga, it often means falling in love too… so judging by this, it seems very likely that gojo perhaps developed feelings for geto during their teen years together. Director park has also mentioned in an interview that gojo & geto’s relationship goes beyond ‘friendship’ & being ‘familial’. 👀

3. another clear indicator of gojo being in love w geto is the whole ‘love is the most twisted curse of all’ spiel he said to yuta. ‘but he could mean platonic love!!’ idk, considering yuta had romantic feelings for rika and hes discussing them with gojo & gojo knows this, dont u think it’d be a bit weird for him to mention geto here too? if they were just best friends?? (that’s not even mentioning the fact that gojo & geto’s relationship is supposed to parallel yuta & rika’s in jjk 0…)

4. and then ofc we have gojo saying his last words to geto, which were censored. now, correct me if im wrong but the ONLY times ive ever seen inaudible dialogue being mouthed to another character is when its a love confession mostly seen in romance anime. and like, there’s also no need at all for gojo’s last words to be censored in the first place. (although, i do suspect that his last words may play a major role in the future when he faces kenjaku.) what solidifies it for me being a love confession is that, 1. geto blushed after gojo said whatever it is that he said to him, (only in the manga tho, idk why they didnt make him blush in the movie but its whatever.) and geto replies with, depending on the translation, ‘at least curse me a little at the very end’ or ‘you should at least curse me at the end’. which heavily implies that gojo said something extremely sweet & heartfelt to him as his final words. and if thats not enough to convince u that gojo’s last words were indeed a love confession.. gojo’s eng VA HIMSELF, said that his last words when translated into english means three words… im not saying that gojo’s last words were specifically ‘i love you’ or anything like that, but i am definitely sure that whatever he said was a love confession/something very romantic in nature. bc why else would gege choose to draw geto blushing?? that wouldnt make any sense.

gojo also killed geto on the 24th of december, which in japan, is the most romantic day of the year & couples in japan treat christmas eve as kinda like a separate valentines day. even in the jjk manga recently, gojo offered to fight on dec 24th & kenjaku mocks him by saying how romantic it is… even gege himself acknowledges how romantic christmas eve is in japan, this enforces the idea that gege must’ve chosen dec 24th for a reason, bc why else would he have picked an extremely romantic date as not only the day where he fights kenjaku who is inhabiting geto’s body, but also making it the day geto died?? yall have to remember that all of this has been planned out by gege, none of it is a coincidence… he didn’t just come up with all of this on the spot, he’s been planning this stuff & thinking about it for literal years.

5. and finally, probably the BIGGEST piece of evidence there is, geto & gojo’s character songs. gege chose romantic break up songs for BOTH of them.. like im sorry but if stsg were rly truly only best friends, he would not have chosen those songs for them, it just doesnt make any sense.

conclusion: obviously, this probably isn’t every subtextually romantic thing about stsg’s relationship but these are all the things that i’ve noticed. again, if you see their relationship as purely platonic then that’s fine but don’t be assholes to people for seeing romantic subtext that’s quite clearly there. if i have missed anything out then please let me know and i’ll edit them into the post.
