"Artists have finally had enough with Meta’s predatory AI policies, but Meta’s loss is Cara’s gain. An artist-run, anti-AI social platform, Cara has grown from 40,000 to 650,000 users within the last week, catapulting it to the top of the App Store charts.
Instagram is a necessity for many artists, who use the platform to promote their work and solicit paying clients. But Meta is using public posts to train its generative AI systems, and only European users can opt out, since they’re protected by GDPR laws. Generative AI has become so front-and-center on Meta’s apps that artists reached their breaking point.
“When you put [AI] so much in their face, and then give them the option to opt out, but then increase the friction to opt out… I think that increases their anger level — like, okay now I’ve really had enough,” Jingna Zhang, a renowned photographer and founder of Cara, told TechCrunch.
Cara, which has both a web and mobile app, is like a combination of Instagram and X, but built specifically for artists. On your profile, you can host a portfolio of work, but you can also post updates to your feed like any other microblogging site.
Zhang is perfectly positioned to helm an artist-centric social network, where they can post without the risk of becoming part of a training dataset for AI. Zhang has fought on behalf of artists, recently winning an appeal in a Luxembourg court over a painter who copied one of her photographs, which she shot for Harper’s Bazaar Vietnam.
“Using a different medium was irrelevant. My work being ‘available online’ was irrelevant. Consent was necessary,” Zhang wrote on X.
Zhang and three other artists are also suing Google for allegedly using their copyrighted work to train Imagen, an AI image generator. She’s also a plaintiff in a similar lawsuit against Stability AI, Midjourney, DeviantArt and Runway AI.
“Words can’t describe how dehumanizing it is to see my name used 20,000+ times in MidJourney,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “My life’s work and who I am—reduced to meaningless fodder for a commercial image slot machine.”
Artists are so resistant to AI because the training data behind many of these image generators includes their work without their consent. These models amass such a large swath of artwork by scraping the internet for images, without regard for whether or not those images are copyrighted. It’s a slap in the face for artists – not only are their jobs endangered by AI, but that same AI is often powered by their work.
“When it comes to art, unfortunately, we just come from a fundamentally different perspective and point of view, because on the tech side, you have this strong history of open source, and people are just thinking like, well, you put it out there, so it’s for people to use,” Zhang said. “For artists, it’s a part of our selves and our identity. I would not want my best friend to make a manipulation of my work without asking me. There’s a nuance to how we see things, but I dont think people understand that the art we do is not a product.”
This commitment to protecting artists from copyright infringement extends to Cara, which partners with the University of Chicago’s Glaze project. By using Glaze, artists who manually apply Glaze to their work on Cara have an added layer of protection against being scraped for AI.
Other projects have also stepped up to defend artists. Spawning AI, an artist-led company, has created an API that allows artists to remove their work from popular datasets. But that opt-out only works if the companies that use those datasets honor artists’ requests. So far, HuggingFace and Stability have agreed to respect Spawning’s Do Not Train registry, but artists’ work cannot be retroactively removed from models that have already been trained.
“I think there is this clash between backgrounds and expectations on what we put on the internet,” Zhang said. “For artists, we want to share our work with the world. We put it online, and we don’t charge people to view this piece of work, but it doesn’t mean that we give up our copyright, or any ownership of our work.”"

au dump because really
idk what to do with these so i'll just yap
I already have a few Martyn and Scott centric AUs but one I like to think about from time to time is a Robo!Scott auDoc (from Martyn's Vtuber lore) and Martyn have a bunch of tech and they like experimenting with computers but Martyn's a dumbass who fucks around while trying to download a video game from totally legal and safe sources and he accidentally installs a virus on Doc's computer, which was hooked up to a robot project they were working on. Turns out, the virus is sentient and, while it makes the robot work as properly, they have to deal with the constant yapping and flirting of S.C.O.T.T (...the meaning of the acronym is yet to be thought of....)
I also have a few other au ideas, one about Treebark and one about Zombiewood.
yk how in DL Martyn's base was basically a self described art project to show his love for his soulmate? So in this AU Martyn has devoted his whole life to scuplting his late lover Cleo after she passed, None of his sculptures' faces actually resemble Cleo perfectly though, so he opens their coffin for one last look at their face, and somehow accidentally awakes them from their "eternal" slumber. He's overjoyed to have her back, but he fails to admit to himself that their relationship before was as healthy as roadkill and he ignored their relationship's massive problems and continued to be ignorant after she gets revived
And then the Treebark AU is a medieval royalty AU where Ren is a prince arranged to marry the princess of another land, but slight problem. Martyn, his hand/personal servant, is in love with him. Of course, Ren loves him the same. They have a little "private meeting" one night, except in the morning, prince Ren is found to have the remnants of the night before imprinted on his skin, and is deemed by the court to be impure and unfit to marry off. The solution to conclude such a scandal? Find the woman guilty of taking part in the acts that night and put her to death by beheading. Except one thing. They don't know that it's a man, or that the man is Martyn.
And so he is safe. For now. If and when the royal court discovers that it is a man, Martyn would be the most suspected, and he would have to leave the castle, Ren, and even the whole kingdom entirely as to not have a fate worse than death (because of period typical homophobia, ofc.)
but yea those are the ideas I have 👍 really hope I'm able to actually turn them into fics
I do have a yandere Majorwood AU as well but I thought this post was getting a bit too long!! So I guess that's for another time 😅

Don Moynihan at Can We Still Govern?:
For those who don’t know much about government, the idea of Elon Musk as a serious tech guy who could shake up how the public sector work was appealing. Even people who do know a lot about government were hopeful.
Such hopes now look naive. Musk is not just ignorant about what government does, he chooses to celebrate and make decisions based on that ignorance, defaulting to accusations of fraud to explain things he does not want to understand. He is not interested in fixing government, but in destroying key parts of government, and that takes no great skill. This is not just a point about competing political philosophies, but about state capacity, and specifically tech skills in government. Musk is not just destroying core government functions, he is also destroying the actual tech capacity of government. Because there are, in fact, skilled technologists who work in government. They are not enough of them, and they lacked power to make big changes. They worked mostly in the US Digital Service and 18F, both created in 2014 after the failure of healthcare.gov. And now they are mostly gone. All 18F employees were fired as part of the ongoing Reductions in Force. The US Digital Service no longer exists. It is now the US DOGE Service. It also has seen about 40 people laid off, and 21 employees resigned last week, leaving around 40 experienced employees left.
Here is a thumbnail sketch of the two units: USDS offered support and guidance to agencies, but could not dictate a governmentwide approach on most issues. In times of crisis, or when a President prioritized a policy outcome dependent on digital innovations, it could play a more prominent role, serving as a de facto firefighter for digital governance. The General Services Administration set up its own digital consultancy team, 18F in 2014. This team’s mission is to work with agencies to “[transform] the way the federal government builds and buys digital services.” 18F was a cost recoverable office, meaning that they charge partner agencies for their work rather than being funded directly through a congressional appropriation. Both organizations use similar managerial technologies, which includes agile, iterative design, a user-centric approach, a reliance on data-driven decision making, directly managing relationships with vendors, favoring open-source solutions, the prioritization of platform models, and a flatter organizational culture. USDS and 18F represented a hopeful trend for American government: embedding serious tech skills inside the bureaucracy, rather than relying on private vendors. They care about public services, and represented the most visible public sector manifestation of “civic tech” in government. [...]
DOGE is a step backwards for government tech talent
Musk’s team saw USDS as an an existing shell they could occupy that seemed nominally aligned with goal of modernizing government. A former USDS official, Amy Gleason, had worked for one of the DOGE team, Brad Smith in the private sector, and returned to USDS on the understanding she was helping the Trump transition team. Gleason became the official DOGE administrator last week, though of course no-one believes this to be the reality. She also tried to get the USDS to hire some of the staff who had already signed on to work for DOGE. None made the cut. They did not advertise their connection with Musk, and so their rejections were not clouded by political bias. Their applications failed because they were not qualified. [...] The point is that Musk isn’t bringing in incredible 10X coders to replace bureaucrats. The best evidence we have is that they would not have been hired into a tech role under normal circumstances. The people who could not make it at USDS were hired at DOGE staff because of their personal and professional connections to Musk, and their ideological commitment for downsizing government. This was a poor fit with the existing employees at 18F and the US Digital Service, who believed that technology could be used to make government work better, not to cut its core tasks. [...] The Trump administration does not care about the loss of this talent. Katie Miller, the DOGE spokesperson, posted this about the resignation of USDS officials. Miller does not explain how fully remote workers posted “trans flags” (or rainbow flags for the rest of us). But she herself is representative of DOGE. She has no tech skills, which is fine for a PR person. Her husband, Stephen Miller, has been described as the “Prime Minister” aiding Musk. Musk had previously given Miller’s political groups $50 million dollars. These are the people running tech in government now. (One more fun fact about Katie Miller: According to Wikipedia, she destroyed “hundreds of copies of the school's newspaper, after it endorsed an opposing student government candidate.”)
DOGE’s cuts have harmed skilled technology needed to run government functions.

Elon Musk just dragged ChatGPT and other artificial intelligence programs into the Trump crosshairs by repeating his warning that current AI models are too “woke” and “politically correct.”
“A lot of the AIs that are being trained in the San Francisco Bay Area, they take on the philosophy of people around them,” Musk said at the Future Investment Initiative, a Saudi Arabia government–backed event held in Riyadh this week. “So you have a woke, nihilistic—in my opinion—philosophy that is being built into these AIs.”
Although Musk is himself a polarizing figure, he is right about AI systems harboring political biases. The issue, however, is far from one-sided, and Musk’s framing may help further his own interests due to his ties to Trump. Musk runs xAI, a competitor to OpenAI, Google, and Meta that could benefit if those companies become government targets.
“Musk clearly has a close, close relationship with the Trump campaign, and any comment that he’s making will hold a big influence,” says Matt Mittelsteadt, a research fellow at George Mason University. “At a maximum he could have some sort of seat in a potential Trump administration, and his views could actually be enacted into some sort of policy.”
Musk has previously accused both OpenAI and Google of being infected with “the woke mind virus.” When Google’s Gemini chatbot produced historically inaccurate images, including black Nazis and Vikings, in February, Musk saw it as proof of Google using AI to spread an absurdly woke outlook.
Musk is clearly no fan of government regulation, but he backed a proposed AI bill in California that would have required companies to make their AI models available for vetting.
The first Trump administration also targeted perceived bias at Big Tech companies with an executive order that sought to hold platforms such as Twitter, Google, and Facebook accountable for censoring information for political reasons. The pressure had a tangible impact, with Meta ultimately abandoning plans for a dedicated news section on Facebook.
Mittelsteadt notes that Trump’s VP pick, JD Vance, has also talked of reining in Big Tech companies and gone as far as to call Google “one of the most dangerous companies in the world.”
Mittelsteadt adds that Trump could punish companies in a variety of ways. He cites, for example, the way the Trump government canceled a major federal contract with Amazon Web Services, a decision likely influenced by the former president’s view of the Washington Post and its owner, Jeff Bezos.
It would not be hard for policymakers to point to evidence of political bias in AI models, even if it cuts both ways.
A 2023 study by researchers at the University of Washington, Carnegie Mellon University, and Xi’an Jiaotong University found a range of political leanings in different large language models. It also showed how this bias may affect the performance of hate speech or misinformation detection systems.
Another study, conducted by researchers at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, found bias in several open source AI models on polarizing issues such as immigration, reproductive rights, and climate change. Yejin Bang, a PhD candidate involved with the work, says that most models tend to lean liberal and US-centric, but that the same models can express a variety of liberal or conservative biases depending on the topic.
AI models capture political biases because they are trained on swaths of internet data that inevitably includes all sorts of perspectives. Most users may not be aware of any bias in the tools they use because models incorporate guardrails that restrict them from generating certain harmful or biased content. These biases can leak out subtly though, and the additional training that models receive to restrict their output can introduce further partisanship. “Developers could ensure that models are exposed to multiple perspectives on divisive topics, allowing them to respond with a balanced viewpoint,” Bang says.
The issue may become worse as AI systems become more pervasive, says Ashique KhudaBukhsh, an computer scientist at the Rochester Institute of Technology who developed a tool called the Toxicity Rabbit Hole Framework, which teases out the different societal biases of large language models. “We fear that a vicious cycle is about to start as new generations of LLMs will increasingly be trained on data contaminated by AI-generated content,” he says.
“I’m convinced that that bias within LLMs is already an issue and will most likely be an even bigger one in the future,” says Luca Rettenberger, a postdoctoral researcher at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology who conducted an analysis of LLMs for biases related to German politics.
Rettenberger suggests that political groups may also seek to influence LLMs in order to promote their own views above those of others. “If someone is very ambitious and has malicious intentions it could be possible to manipulate LLMs into certain directions,” he says. “I see the manipulation of training data as a real danger.”
There have already been some efforts to shift the balance of bias in AI models. Last March, one programmer developed a more right-leaning chatbot in an effort to highlight the subtle biases he saw in tools like ChatGPT. Musk has himself promised to make Grok, the AI chatbot built by xAI, “maximally truth-seeking” and less biased than other AI tools, although in practice it also hedges when it comes to tricky political questions. (A staunch Trump supporter and immigration hawk, Musk’s own view of “less biased” may also translate into more right-leaning results.)
Next week’s election in the United States is hardly likely to heal the discord between Democrats and Republicans, but if Trump wins, talk of anti-woke AI could get a lot louder.
Musk offered an apocalyptic take on the issue at this week’s event, referring to an incident when Google’s Gemini said that nuclear war would be preferable to misgendering Caitlyn Jenner. “If you have an AI that’s programmed for things like that, it could conclude that the best way to ensure nobody is misgendered is to annihilate all humans, thus making the probability of a future misgendering zero,” he said.

I read this amazing Cody-centric wing-fic by @meebles, so now I'm thinking about Clones with wings, and - because I'm me - specifically the Bad Batch with wings.
What would their wings look like? The regs' wings would all be identical/very similar, of course, with the individuality mostly showing in dyes and so on. But the Batch with their mutations will likely have different wings too.
I want Crosshair's wings to be similar to the ice vultures', for obvious thematic reasons, but also because vultures tend to hang around in high places, whether that's sitting in a tree somewhere or circling high up in the air, waiting and watching. Good sniper traits. I don't think we really get to see the vultures in the show, but I assume they're white/grey, to blend in against the snow and ice and white/grey skies. Good colors for Crosshair.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The rest will be under the cut because this got away from me a little (a lot).
For Tech, I'm thinking common kestrel wings. I don't know if kestrels have any particular behavioral traits that would fit Tech, I mostly just like their colors for him. I did read a little bit, though, and what stood out to me was that the kestrel has multiple hunting methods - it does the usual bird of prey thing, of circling around on an updraft over open land and diving for its prey, or sitting on a fence pole or in a tree or even a bush and jumping on a mouse or whatever that gets too close. The thing it does that's maybe less common is that it will also skim across fields, very close to the ground, to pounce on anything small enough for it to eat. And maybe I'm reaching a little here, but that seems to me like a very resourceful bird which is also a very competent flier, and I figure that does fit our Tech very nicely.
I do kind of want to pick vulture for Tech too, if just to match his twin, but. I like the kestrel better. I mean, just look at it:
Tumblr media
For Wrecker... Maybe something like a white-tailed eagle? Because. Big. And good at fishing. On a more angsty note, I'm thinking whatever happened to give Wrecker his iconic scar/cost him his eye, it probably also damaged his left wing. Maybe not enough to ground him fully, but enough that flying/steering would be harder for him, which is at least part of the reason he's still scared of heights.
Tumblr media
Hunter's wings would probably be pretty similar to the regs', maybe a tiny bit smaller. I'm thinking something like the New Zealand falcon, or kārearea. Bird of prey, dark brown, fairly simple coloring (though still very pretty). According to the NZ Department of Conservation, there are three ecological forms of the kārearea: A large, pale 'eastern' falcon; a smaller, darker 'Bush' falcon, and a 'southern' falcon that's somewhere inbetween in both size and color. Perhaps the regs' wings are more like the eastern/southern ones (left image, I think), while Hunter's are more like those of the bush falcon (right image)?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Disclaimer: I actually know fuck-all about these birds, only what I've just read - if I'm mistaken about the identity of these birds, I blame the sources, which should all be linked in the images, though tumblr is tumblr.
Echo doesn't get his own picture (sorry, Echo) because he's a reg, technically, so he has wings like the left one above. I... am not sure what happened to them in that explosion, or his time on Skako Minor. Probably not very good things. Maybe his wings are just heavily scarred/damaged, maybe they're gone completely. Maybe he's got prosthetics for one or both of them?
(I'm just now realizing that the Clones having wings would mean some things on that mission to Skako Minor - namely, the escape from the techno Union's facility - would turn out slightly different, since they don't need those flying reptiles to get away when they have their own wings. Though maybe they still do if at least one (Skywalker), and maybe two or three of the people on that team can't fly (Echo, Wrecker). I'm well aware them having wings would completely change the mission to Eriadu in the TBB s2 finale, what with them being able to just. fly over there. and away again. Even if they do use the sky-rail or whatever, for Wrecker and/or Echo's sake, Tech would still have his wings, so... All's good.)
Omega also doesn't get her own image (sorry, Omega) because while she's not a reg, exactly, she's an unaltered Clone, which means... Well. I'm not actually sure what that means. I suppose that depends on whether Fett had wings, or that's something the Kaminoan's added? I'm gonna go with the first one, because I like that better. The Kaminoans may have changed things about the wings, but Omega will still have wings, because Fett did too. But that also means she'll have wings identical, or at least very similar to the regs' (left img. above), though maybe she'll have lighter feathers, to match her lighter hair. Also, since she's still (physically) a child, she'll have wings that look more like the immature/juvenile falcons', which means... less spots and stripes? I think? I'm not sure.
I'm also not sure when this whole thing changed from 'idle musings' to 'full-blown headcanons' but it certainly happened. Let me just go back and add a read-more somewhere. Alright, that's done. I'm not really sure if I'm actually gonna... do anything with these headcanons. I do really like the concept of meebles' fic, though - showing different relationships through the grooming and preening of wings - so maybe I'll write something a la that at some point, just for the Batch instead of Cody. Maybe some hurt/comfort about what the Empire does to Crosshair's wings while he's a prisoner? And how he has to learn to trust people near him/his wings again, and how his brothers help him heal, both physically and mentally.
If I do ever write something about all this, I'll make sure to link back to meebles's fic as the inspiration - and in case you missed it up top, or just don't wanna scroll all the way back up again (that's fair, this got rather long), here it is again: and the stars, like a loved one by firelord_zutara on Ao3, also known as meebles here on tumblr. Go read it, you won't regret it.

Top Hosting Solutions for Web Developers and Agencies in 2025: Windows Reseller Hosting Options
Choosing the right hosting solution can make or break your web development business. As we step into 2025, the demand for flexible, secure, and scalable hosting is more critical than ever, where competition among digital service providers is fierce. Whether you're a freelance web designer or run a full-service digital agency, understanding the best web hosting platforms can significantly elevate your service offerings, improve client retention, and boost overall satisfaction.
Tumblr media
In this comprehensive guide, we'll delve into the top Windows reseller hosting options tailored for web developers and agencies. We’ll also explore affordable Linux hosting alternatives, white-label hosting solutions that empower your brand identity, and managed reseller hosting packages that save time and reduce technical overhead.
Why Web Developers and Agencies Need Specialized Hosting?
Web developers and digital agencies often manage multiple client websites, web applications, and databases, each with unique performance and security requirements. This makes standard shared hosting packages insufficient. They lack the customization, control, and scalability needed for serious projects. That’s where reseller hosting—especially Windows-based or managed solutions—steps in.
With Windows reseller hosting, developers can support technologies like ASP.NET, MS SQL, and Windows-specific applications, making it ideal for corporate clients. At the same time, Linux hosting remains a cost-effective and highly stable alternative for clients using PHP, MySQL, and open-source CMS platforms like WordPress.
Moreover, white-label reseller hosting allows agencies to sell web hosting services under their own brand, giving them full control over client interaction while the back-end is handled by a reliable web hosting provider. Managed hosting further enhances this by offering server monitoring, automatic backups, and 24/7 support—perfect for agencies that want to focus on design and development without worrying about infrastructure management.
In short, specialised hosting isn’t just a technical necessity—it’s a strategic business decision. Choosing the right mix of Windows, Linux, whitelabel, and managed hosting options can provide developers and agencies with the reliability, professionalism, and competitive edge needed to succeed in today’s market.
What is Windows Reseller Hosting?
Windows reseller hosting allows individuals or agencies to purchase hosting resources (disk space, bandwidth, email accounts, etc.) and resell them under their brand. These plans run on Windows-based servers and support Microsoft technologies like ASP.NET, MSSQL, and IIS, making them a perfect fit for developers building Microsoft-centric web applications.
Key Benefits of Windows Reseller Hosting:
Support for ASP.NET and MSSQL
Easy integration with Windows-based applications
Customisable white-label branding
Centralised control with Plesk or similar panels
Ideal for clients using Microsoft tech stacks
For web designers and developers, especially those serving enterprise-level or governmental clients, the compatibility offered by Windows reseller hosting is a huge advantage.
Cheap Yet Powerful: Budget-Friendly Hosting Without Compromise-
For many startups and freelance developers, budget constraints are a major concern—especially when launching or scaling a business in the competitive digital market. The good news is that affordable doesn’t have to mean limited. Today, the web hosting landscape offers a range of cheap Windows reseller hosting plans that deliver excellent value without compromising on performance, security, or support. Some of the most reputable UK-based hosting providers now offer packages starting as low as £5 per month, making it easier than ever to enter the hosting space without a large upfront investment.
Despite their low cost, these plans often come packed with essential features such as free SSL certificates for website security, 24/7 customer support, and free website migrations—helping ensure a seamless experience for both resellers and their clients. Access to the Plesk control panel provides an intuitive interface for managing client accounts, and white-label options allow webdesign professionals to brand the hosting as their own, maintaining a polished and professional client experience.
These budget-friendly reseller packages are especially ideal for web designers and digital freelancers looking to offer hosting as an added service. They eliminate the need for owning and maintaining physical servers while still offering all the tools needed to run a reliable, scalable hosting business.
Managed Reseller Hosting for Hassle-Free Performance-
For web developers and digital agencies who would rather focus on building websites than managing servers, managed reseller hosting offers a stress-free, professional solution. This type of hosting removes the complexity of backend maintenance by shifting the responsibility for server updates, security patches, backups, and general technical upkeep to the hosting provider. It’s a smart choice for those looking to scale their business without being bogged down by infrastructure concerns.
With managed plans, you get access to critical features that ensure consistent and high-performing service. These often include regular automatic backups, advanced security monitoring, and malware protection, helping protect your client data and websites from threats around the clock. Web hosting providers also offer pre-installed software stacks, so you don’t have to spend hours configuring environments for CMS platforms or frameworks. Hosting on UK-optimised server locations guarantees fast loading times and improved SEO performance for your local clients, while 99.9% uptime guarantees ensure that their websites remain accessible at all times.
By choosing managed reseller hosting, UK-based freelancers and agencies can provide reliable, high-quality service to their clients without the added operational burden. It’s the perfect solution for professionals who want to grow their business with confidence and minimal technical distractions.
White-Label Hosting: Branding Under Your Name-
In 2025, brand credibility and consistency are more important than ever—especially in the highly competitive digital market. For web agencies and freelance developers, white-label reseller hosting presents a powerful opportunity to deliver hosting services under their own brand name. Whether you're using Windows reseller hosting or Linux reseller hosting, most top-tier web hosting providers now offer robust customisation tools that let you completely rebrand the hosting experience for your clients.
Key white-label features often include customised nameservers, branded client control panels, and personalised email templates—all designed to make your web hosting service appear fully independent and professionally managed. This level of control not only enhances your brand image but also strengthens client trust, as customers perceive they are dealing directly with your agency rather than a third-party provider.
For digital agencies and web designers looking to scale their offerings, white-label hosting is a game-changer. It enables you to provide a seamless, branded experience across all touchpoints while maintaining full control over pricing, support, and customer relationships. Ultimately, it helps improve client retention, boosts your professional reputation, and positions your business as a complete solution provider in the growing digital economy.
Linux vs. Windows Reseller Hosting: Which One is Better for Agencies?
Both Linux and Windows reseller hosting have their pros and cons. While Windows hosting supports ASP.NET and other Microsoft technologies, Linux hosting is known for its speed, open-source compatibility, and affordability.
When to Choose Linux Reseller Hosting:
You primarily use PHP, MySQL, or WordPress
You need cheap and fast hosting
You want a cPanel-based environment
When to Choose Windows Reseller Hosting:
You develop in ASP.NET or .NET Core
Your clients use Microsoft SQL Server
You need Plesk over cPanel
A smart agency might even offer both to cater to a broader clientele.

White-label control
Scalable resource packages
5. Hostek UK
Ideal for developers using .NET and MSSQL
Custom server configurations
Managed plans available
Fast, secure infrastructure
Each of these web hosting providers caters to different needs, but all offer excellent support, scalability, and branding options—critical elements for success in the competitive webdesign industry.
Future-Proofing Your Hosting Business in 2025 and Beyond-
As trends like AI integration, cloud computing, and remote work continue to shape the digital landscape, offering robust and scalable hosting will become even more vital. Agencies and developers should consider investing in hybrid plans that support both Windows and Linux reseller hosting, and also explore managed options for long-term growth.
Action Steps:
Start with a cheap Windows reseller hosting plan to test demand
Scale up with managed reseller hosting as client numbers grow
Use white-label hosting to build brand trust
Offer both Linux and Windows options for flexibility
Conclusion-
Choosing the right hosting solution in 2025 is more than just picking a server. It's about aligning your agency’s technical needs, branding goals, and growth strategies with the best that the market has to offer. With options ranging from cheap Windows reseller hosting to fully managed white-label solutions, developers and agencies are well-positioned to thrive.

AI & Tech Applications in 2025
In 2025, artificial intelligence is no longer just a buzzword — it’s the invisible infrastructure of everyday life. From personalized shopping to content creation, AI and its broader tech ecosystem are reshaping nearly every industry. What’s different now isn’t just the power of the tools, but how seamlessly they’ve integrated into workflows and decision-making.
One of the most impactful applications is in content generation. Tools like GPT-based writers, AI video creators, and AI music generators have democratized creativity. Solo creators can now produce studio-grade video, edit voiceovers, and generate custom soundtracks — all in a matter of hours. The explosion of platforms like Sora and Runway for video and ElevenLabs for voice have made professional-grade content accessible to individuals and small teams.
In the realm of software development, AI has transformed how code is written, debugged, and deployed. Developers are using tools like GitHub Copilot and Cursor to autocomplete functions, detect bugs, and even suggest entire workflows. What used to take a day of trial-and-error coding now takes minutes. AI agents can now handle testing, write documentation, and even propose UX changes.
Automation has also become more human-centric. Businesses are using AI not just for rote task automation, but to understand customer sentiment, personalize user experiences, and streamline operations with real-time learning. AI-driven analytics are enabling companies to shift from reactive to proactive decision-making — predicting market trends, adjusting supply chains, and optimizing ads dynamically.
Meanwhile, cybersecurity has evolved rapidly. As AI tools become more sophisticated, so do cyber threats. In response, AI-powered security systems now detect anomalies in real time, learn from new threats, and adapt without human intervention. It’s an arms race between attackers and defenders, with AI on both sides.
Crucially, 2025 has seen a surge in public-facing AI literacy. People are no longer content to use AI blindly; they want to understand how it works, how it affects data privacy, and how to guide it ethically. This has fueled a new wave of AI explainability tools and open-source transparency efforts.
In short, AI in 2025 is not about replacing humans — it’s about expanding what we can do. It’s a co-pilot, a multiplier, and, increasingly, a creative partner. The real trend is not the AI itself, but the way humans are using it — with more control, creativity, and consciousness than ever before.

Snowflake to Acquire Crunchy Data in Strategic Move to Advance AI Agent Capabilities
Tumblr media
Source: www.infoworld.com
Snowflake Postgres has announced its intent to acquire Crunchy Data, a move aimed at reinforcing its capabilities in building and deploying artificial intelligence (AI) agents and applications. The acquisition, which is still pending regulatory approval and standard closing conditions, is expected to significantly bolster Snowflake’s AI Data Cloud by incorporating Crunchy Data’s expertise in open-source PostgreSQL technology.
The acquisition will introduce a new product, Snowflake Postgres, into the company’s growing AI ecosystem. PostgreSQL, commonly known as Postgres, is a widely adopted open-source relational database system, used by nearly half of the world’s developers, according to the company’s statement released on June 2. This strategic addition will allow Snowflake customers to work more efficiently with AI agents by leveraging the flexible and powerful features of Postgres within the Snowflake platform.
Snowflake’s Senior Vice President of Engineering, Vivek Raghunathan, emphasized the scale of the opportunity, noting that the company is targeting a $350 billion market. He stated that bringing Postgres into the fold will allow customers to accelerate development and streamline operations within the Snowflake AI Data Cloud.
Postgres Integration to Enhance Mission-Critical Workloads
Crunchy Data, known for its security-first approach and compliance in regulated industries, brings valuable assets to Snowflake’s portfolio. Co-founder Paul Laurence highlighted the synergy between the two companies, particularly in offering enhanced capabilities for organizations that already rely on Postgres for handling sensitive and mission-critical workloads.
With the integration of Crunchy Data’s technology, Snowflake aims to support its customers, especially those operating in tightly regulated sectors, with tools that offer both scalability and confidence. The Snowflake Postgres product is expected to help users launch AI-driven applications faster while maintaining strict standards for data integrity and security.
The move reflects a broader trend in the tech industry where database technologies are being adapted to meet the rising demands of AI development, particularly in the area of autonomous agents. Snowflake’s platform, known for its robust data management capabilities, is increasingly positioning itself as a go-to solution for enterprises navigating the intersection of data and artificial intelligence.
AI Competition Heats Up with Database-Centric Acquisitions
Snowflake’s announcement follows similar activity from its competitors. On May 14, Databricks revealed its own acquisition of Neon, a database startup also focused on enhancing AI agent workflows. Databricks described Neon as purpose-built for agentic operations, offering developers a serverless Postgres environment aligned with the speed and economics required for AI development.
In February, Snowflake Postgres opened a new AI hub in Silicon Valley to support developers, startups, and enterprise clients in their pursuit of advanced AI applications. This latest acquisition of Crunchy Data builds on that momentum, reinforcing the company’s commitment to providing comprehensive AI solutions that integrate deeply with trusted, open-source technologies.
As the AI space rapidly evolves, acquisitions like these signal a critical shift in how enterprise platforms are adapting to support AI workloads, leveraging familiar tools like Postgres in novel and powerful ways.

Magistral: Mistral AI challenges big tech with reasoning model
New Post has been published on https://thedigitalinsider.com/magistral-mistral-ai-challenges-big-tech-with-reasoning-model/
Magistral: Mistral AI challenges big tech with reasoning model
Mistral AI has pulled back the curtain on Magistral, their first model specifically built for reasoning tasks.
Magistral arrives in two flavours: a 24B parameter open-source version called Magistral Small that anyone can tinker with, and a beefier enterprise edition, Magistral Medium, aimed at commercial applications where advanced reasoning capabilities matter most.
“The best human thinking isn’t linear—it weaves through logic, insight, uncertainty, and discovery,” explains Mistral AI.
That’s a fair point, existing models often struggle with the messy, non-linear way humans actually think through problems. I’ve tested numerous reasoning models and they typically suffer from three key limitations: they lack depth in specialised domains, their thinking process is frustratingly opaque, and they perform inconsistently across different languages.
Mistral AI’s real-world reasoning for professionals
For professionals who’ve been hesitant to trust AI with complex tasks, Magistral might change some minds.
Legal eagles, finance folks, healthcare professionals and government workers will appreciate the model’s ability to show its work. All conclusions can be traced back through logical steps—crucial when you’re operating in regulated environments where “because the AI said so” simply doesn’t cut it.
Software developers haven’t been forgotten either. Magistral claims to shine at the kind of structured thinking that makes for better project planning, architecture design, and data engineering. Having struggled with some models that produce plausible-sounding but flawed technical solutions, I’m keen to see if Magistral’s reasoning capabilities deliver on this front.
Mistral claims their reasoning model excels at creative tasks too. The company reports that Magistral is “an excellent creative companion” for writing and storytelling, capable of producing both coherent narratives and – when called for – more experimental content. This versatility suggests we’re moving beyond the era of having separate models for creative versus logical tasks.
What separates Magistral from the rest?
What separates Magistral from run-of-the-mill language models is transparency. Rather than simply spitting out answers from a black box, it reveals its thinking process in a way users can follow and verify.
This matters enormously in professional contexts. A lawyer doesn’t just want a contract clause suggestion; they need to understand the legal reasoning behind it. A doctor can’t blindly trust a diagnostic suggestion without seeing the clinical logic. By making its reasoning traceable, Magistral could help bridge the trust gap that’s held back AI adoption in high-stakes fields.
Having spoken with non-English AI developers, I’ve heard consistent frustration about how reasoning capabilities drop off dramatically outside English. Magistral appears to tackle this head-on with robust multilingual support, allowing professionals to reason in their preferred language without performance penalties.
This isn’t just about convenience; it’s about equity and access. As countries increasingly implement AI regulations requiring localised solutions, tools that reason effectively across languages will have a significant advantage over English-centric competitors.
[embedded content]
Getting your hands on Magistral
For those wanting to experiment, Magistral Small is available now under the Apache 2.0 licence via Hugging Face. Those interested in the more powerful Medium version can test a preview through Mistral’s Le Chat interface or via their API platform.
[embedded content]
Enterprise users looking for deployment options can find Magistral Medium on Amazon SageMaker, with IBM WatsonX, Azure, and Google Cloud Marketplace implementations coming soon.
As the initial excitement around general-purpose chatbots begins to wane, the market is hungry for specialised AI tools that excel at specific professional tasks. By focusing on transparent reasoning for domain experts, Mistral has carved out a potentially valuable niche.
Founded just last year by alumni from DeepMind and Meta AI, Mistral has moved at breakneck speed to establish itself as Europe’s AI champion. They’ve consistently punched above their weight, creating models that compete with offerings from companies many times their size.
As organisations increasingly demand AI that can explain itself – particularly in Europe where the AI Act will require transparency – Magistral’s focus on showing its reasoning process feels particularly timely.

How App Interface Design Is Evolving with AI and User-Centric UX Trends
Tumblr media
App Interface Design's Evolution: AI and User-Centric UX Trends Consider this: The average smartphone user touches their device over 2,600 times a day. For heavy users, that figure soars past 5,400. Each tap, swipe, and pinch interacts directly with an interface designed to guide them. But are those interfaces truly serving users in 2025, amidst accelerating technological user-centric UX trends and the pervasive influence of AI in design? The traditional ways we conceived of and built interfaces are rapidly transforming, driven by sophisticated algorithms and a renewed, imperative focus on authentic user-centric design.
The AI Paradigm Shift in Interface Creation
Artificial intelligence isn't merely a tool add-on; it signifies a profound paradigm shift in how we approach the very foundations of app interface design. Overtly, AI automates routine tasks. Subtly, it augments creativity, analyzes colossal datasets with unprecedented alacrity, and stands poised to recalibrate the designer's role entirely. This isn't science fiction anymore; it's the operating reality for forward-thinking design teams.
AI Assisting Design Workflows
Integrating AI assistance into workflows offers tangible improvements in efficiency and opens avenues for novel design possibilities.
Automation of Repetitive Tasks: Tedious activities such as image slicing, code generation for basic components, or initial layout variations can be handled by AI. This frees designers to concentrate on more complex problem-solving, creative conceptualization, and strategic thinking. Think of AI not as replacement, but as a highly efficient junior assistant handling the groundwork.
Generating Design Variations: Based on established brand guidelines, user data, or even initial wireframes, AI algorithms can generate a myriad of design options in moments. This velocity allows for rapid iteration and comparative analysis, potentially unveiling design directions a human might not have considered within the same timeframe.
Predictive Analytics for User Behavior: AI's capacity to sift through vast quantities of usage data identifies patterns and predicts user actions with increasing accuracy. This predictive power directly informs design decisions, allowing interfaces to pre-empt user needs or present information most relevant to an individual's predicted journey within the application.
Ethical Considerations and Bias Mitigation
As AI becomes more entrenched in the design process, acknowledging and actively mitigating inherent biases is absolutely paramount. AI models are trained on data, and if that data reflects societal biases (racial, gender, ability, etc.), the AI will perpetuate them in its design outputs.
Vigilance is required to audit the data sources used for AI training.
Testing AI-generated designs across diverse user demographics is crucial to identify and rectify unfair or exclusionary outcomes.
Maintaining human oversight in crucial decision points of the design process safeguards against automated discrimination or ethically questionable design patterns. Designers become stewards, ensuring the AI serves human well-being and inclusivity.
The Core of User-Centricity in 2025
While technology sprints ahead, the raison d'être of design remains constant: serving the user. User-centric UX trends are less about adopting flashy tech and more about a deeply empathetic approach that prioritizes genuine human needs, contexts, and emotions. In 2025, "user-centric" holds a more nuanced, sophisticated meaning than ever before.
Understanding Evolving User Needs
User expectations aren't static; they morph with technological fluency and societal shifts. A truly user-centric design understands this fluidity.
Hyper-Personalization: Beyond simply using a user's name, personalization now demands interfaces that adapt content, features, and even visual style based on real-time context, historical usage, preferences, and predicted needs. This requires a granular understanding of individual users, facilitated by AI analysis.
Accessibility as a Universal Standard: Designing for accessibility is no longer an afterthought or an optional feature; it is a fundamental requirement. This encompasses not only compliance with guidelines (like WCAG) but designing intuitively for users with diverse cognitive, visual, auditory, and motor abilities from the outset. Inaccessible design effectively excludes large potential user bases.
Emotional Design (Kansei UX): Moving beyond usability, designers now consider the emotional resonance of an interface. Does it feel joyful, trustworthy, calming, exciting? Kansei engineering, originating in Japan, studies how users feel about products. Applying these principles to app interface design fosters deeper user engagement and loyalty by consciously eliciting positive emotional responses.
Measuring and Iterating on User Experience
Good design isn't guesswork; it's an iterative process informed by data and direct user feedback. Measuring the efficacy of designs is foundational to refinement.
Employing robust analytics to track user flows, completion rates, points of friction, and feature engagement.
Conducting diverse forms of user research: usability testing, interviews, surveys, and contextual inquiries.
Utilizing A/B testing and multivariate testing to compare design variations head-to-head based on quantifiable user behavior metrics.
Establishing continuous feedback loops, allowing designers to remain responsive to evolving user sentiments and needs over the product lifecycle.
Synergizing AI and User-Centric Approaches
The true power emerges not from choosing between AI-driven or user-centric design, but by strategically intertwining them. AI, when wielded through a user-centric lens, can elevate interfaces to new heights of relevance, adaptability, and intuitiveness. Conversely, user-centric design principles provide the ethical and humanistic framework that prevents AI from creating sterile, unhelpful, or biased interfaces. This confluence marks the frontier of advanced app interface design.
Designing Adaptive Interfaces
Adaptive interfaces change dynamically based on individual users, their context, and even their momentary state. AI is the engine that makes this feasible on a large scale.
Real-time Customization via AI: Imagine an interface that changes button size for a user walking in bright sunlight, or adjusts complexity for a novice versus an expert user within the same application. AI processes data streams (device sensors, usage history, explicit preferences) to make these interface adjustments happen in the moment.
Contextual Awareness: An interface that knows you're driving might simplify controls; one that knows you're in a quiet library might suggest different features. AI enables applications to understand and react to the user's current environmental and situational context, presenting information and interactions most appropriate to that specific scenario.
Leveraging AI for Deeper User Insights
AI's analytical capabilities allow us to move beyond simple clickstream data to glean profound insights into user motivations, difficulties, and implicit desires.
Beyond Basic Analytics: Instead of just seeing where users click, AI can help understand why they might be hesitating at a certain point, what task they are likely attempting based on partial actions, or how their usage patterns compare to others with similar profiles.
Identifying Implicit Needs: Users often struggle to articulate exactly what they need or want. AI can analyze vast datasets – including user support interactions, social media sentiment, and aggregate usage patterns – to uncover latent needs or points of frustration that users themselves haven't explicitly mentioned.
Building Trust in AI-Powered UX
As AI's role becomes more overt (e.g., a chatbot, a recommendation engine, an interface that visibly rearranges itself), building and maintaining user trust becomes critical.
Transparency in AI Decisions: Users appreciate knowing why something is being recommended, why the interface changed, or why certain options are presented. Explaining the basis of an AI-driven interaction fosters confidence. Avoid 'black box' scenarios where the AI's actions seem arbitrary.
Maintaining Human Oversight: For critical decisions or sensitive interactions, the system should allow for human intervention or fallback options. Users need assurance that they aren't solely at the mercy of an algorithm and can access human support if needed. This hybrid approach leverages AI's strengths while providing a safety net and building trust.
Practical Guide: Navigating the Evolution
Making this transition isn't automatic. It requires a deliberate approach to strategy, a willingness to adapt, and a proactive stance against common pitfalls. Think of this section as laying out actionable considerations for design teams in 2025.
Strategies for Adoption
Successfully integrating AI in design and doubling down on user-centric design demands a multifaceted strategy.
Education and Upskilling: Design teams require new literacies. Understanding basic AI concepts, data interpretation, ethical AI principles, and advanced research methodologies are no longer niche skills; they are becoming foundational. Organizations must invest in continuous learning.
Iterative AI Integration: Do not attempt a monolithic overhaul. Begin by integrating AI into specific, well-defined areas of the design workflow or user experience where its value is clearest (e.g., content personalization, component generation, preliminary usability analysis). Learn from these early efforts and expand incrementally.
Collaboration (Designers, Data Scientists, Users): The future of design is profoundly collaborative. Designers must work hand-in-hand with data scientists to understand the potential and limitations of AI. Critically, users must be involved throughout the process – not just as passive subjects of analysis, but as active participants providing feedback on AI-driven features and adaptive interfaces.
Common Pitfalls to Avoid
The path is fraught with potential missteps. Awareness prevents stumbling.
Over-Reliance on AI: Allowing AI to dictate design without human critique risks generic, soulless interfaces that lack true creativity or empathetic understanding. AI should augment, not supplant, human design intelligence.
Neglecting Human Testing: Believing AI analysis replaces direct human user research is a grave error. AI reveals patterns; qualitative user testing reveals why those patterns exist, uncovers nuances, and captures emotional responses AI cannot.
Ignoring Ethical Implications: Deploying AI-powered interfaces without rigorous ethical vetting can lead to biased experiences, erosion of user trust, and potential reputational damage. Prioritize fairness, transparency, and user control from concept to deployment.
Expert Perspectives and Future Trajectories
Looking ahead, the evolution promises interfaces that are profoundly intuitive, adapting not just to explicit commands but implicit desires and cognitive states. A prominent design leader remarked, "We are moving from interfaces a user learns to navigate, to interfaces that learn the user. The system adapts to you, not the other way around." Another researcher commented, "Ethical frameworks are no longer peripheral; they are the bedrock upon which we build AI-augmented experiences. Without trust and fairness, sophisticated interfaces will simply fail." Emerging areas like Neuro-adaptive UX, which seeks to interpret cognitive signals to tailor interfaces in real-time, or the integration of AR/VR elements facilitated by AI's spatial understanding, signal even more profound shifts on the horizon. The focus will intensify on creating interfaces that feel less like tools and more like seamless extensions of human thought and intent. My personal perspective is that while the technical possibilities are nearly boundless, the most impactful interfaces will be those that remain grounded in empathy, equity, and genuine value creation for the end-user, resisting the temptation of technology for technology's sake.
