Just curious about the newest season of LITG. I postponed playing it as it was released until the other day (time restrictions, etc.) and just started vol. 2 now.

Usually I play as it comes out which builds anticipation and makes it more exciting...

What the general vibes are from the latest volume from everyone else? Do we like it? Is it better than previous seasons? Personally, so far I'm not very excited to play new chapters...it feels very formulaic? (Do the hearts actually matter?)

Anyway, just wondering what kind of opinions have been floating around out there on this latest season 😊

Honestly, this season is mid. Some parts I enjoy, and some parts are so silly I don’t understand what fusebox was thinking. And I don’t know if I can say it’s better or worse than other seasons. It’s just kinda… blah.

They made a big deal about the hearts, but then you still periodically get asked to choose the boy you want to pursue. I’m not sure the hearts even matter, they just look fun when you pick the “right” choice. It’s not like the old days when your relationship actually increased/deteriorated based on those emojis. I hated getting frowny faces 😭

It’s sad, but the fandom is crickets. I think a lot of people got burned out from the poorly produced, rapidly released content. No one’s looking forward to a game that has lackluster writing, very little branching, and bad art. And the “All Stars” season, which included very few islanders that we knew, was the final straw for a lot of folks.

I’m still playing mostly because fomo 😅 And actually, I very much like a Casa boy, and some of the relationships/drama have felt well written (and some just utterly ridiculous). But a lot of this season is rinse and repeat with discount products.

I think it’s enjoyable if you have low expectations, and don’t try to hold it to the standard of the seasons we love. So basically, if you play it like it’s a totally different game, you’ll have a good time. Not sure if that’s good or bad, I’ll let you decide.

Epistle, definitely. It was originally a one-shot, but I'm going to continue the story. Hoping for HEA, but that all depends on what Hermione & Draco do.

I hope to finish both my WIPs, so I'm not going to jinx them. Oh! And I forgot I was also going to expand the world of Taking the Plunge because I loved Nadia & her friends so much.

Narration, witty asides, description & small details, world-building...? I find it difficult to answer this question.

What are your writing weaknesses?

Reading too many others fics instead of making myself sit down to write my own. 😳 I take too long between chapters. I need to write more about how my characters are feeling/sensing, etc., particularly in love scenes. Maybe showing some characters' bad traits?

Thoughts on dialogue in another language?

I enjoy it, even if there's not a translation. I don't mind looking it up. If it fits the character, this should be included. I think right now I only have one ESL, and I try to pepper his dialogue with Swedish words and phrases and nicknames. Sweet Henrik.

Uhhh...I think WIDFL, my very first (and a WIP). And I'm very proud of Epistle.

lol I'm not much of a crier so I don't remember exactly, but it probably was something to do with my favourite sports team

if you count gym class and elementary school teams, many 😂 but otherwise not a lot. I did start playing tennis with my sister this summer but idk if you could really call it playing a sport (we're both terrible)

5. What is a song you associate with a specific character?

Oooh, that's interesting. I listen to songs on repeat while I write, so oftentimes the song is more tied to my personal interpretation of the character than to the canon one. So I guess I'd say Maybe by Lewis Capaldi for Bobby. It's about fear and self-destruction and perfectly captures Bobby in TSIME.

LOL Thanks, nonny!! I actually did think about what one and two were. Two was relentless tickling, for sure. And one would have been some random chat like, “What do you think purple smells like?”

Fun fact- I based Gary’s pillow talk after a convo from the game, if you chose to make a cheese toastie with him. I wish I could remember it exactly, but it was cute. I miss S2 🥲

Listen, maybe it’s just that I’ve done almost every slow burn route this game has ever thrown at us (Jake, Noah, Finn, now Ozzy, I also went for Oliver who was a last minute LI in S4), but I’m kind of… hopeful still? I won’t lie lmao, that hurt. It really hurt for a minute there. But at the end of the day, after you get a minute to sit back on it, it’s kind of understandable.

I seriously don’t get why people can do whatever they want in this game (MC included), but, if Ozzy does it, he’s the villain. Was what he did great? No. But was he hurt and confused and just made a mistake? Yeah. It’s actually not that different from what Grace did in CA, just less intentional. And I don’t know about you, but I don’t think Grace is a bad person. She’s not my favorite (I won’t lie), but she’s a good gal. So, I get it (I still have to get completely over it myself), but let’s not talk about Ozzy like he’s this bad person, please.

He’s no Suresh. More than anything, Ozzy gives Noah vibes with an even softer personality, more baggage AND more insecurities.

MC was absolutely right to be mad at Ozzy right about now, but personally I also defended him from Marshall and Grace, because what was that. The hypocrisy (Grace), the gall (Marshall).

Also, I see that a lot of people are forgetting this is Love Island and Ozzy had no obligation to anyone at the time in which CA happened. We have every right to be upset, of course, but he’s no snake or player. Personally, I kind of just want to hug him.

Again, MC is completely right to be mad at Ozzy now (though I’ll admit, I’m already dying for the two of them to sort things through), but the fact that Ozzy was spiralling so bad he went for a three-way kiss while skinny dipping (when we know how he feels about intimacy) absolutely broke my heart.

(Not to mention, when Ozzy said he immediately regretted that night and was beating himself up about it, I swear I felt his words down in my soul. Plus, he’s the only one who owned up to his own mistakes. That, in my opinion, is more important than not making them at all.)

Fact: As MC, you can make so many choices throughout the game (kissing, bits, lap dances, etc.) that you get away with

Fact: It stung, but I still love Ozzy

Maybe we are all just making excuses for him, but I really don’t think he’s a bad guy. He owned up to it and seemed so remorseful. Grace was unapologetic for kissing Hamish, which I don’t really care about, but then she’s livid about Ozzy. I like her but I’m over her antics.

At the end of the day, I’ve put up with much worse in this game- Cherrygate, Blake, S5 to name a few. We’ll get over this, too 💖💖

which 3 litg islanders are the most your type on paper?

Ooh that’s a good one! I’m gonna go with the first three that immediately came to mind:

Kyle- he looks like a bad boy on the outside, but he’s just so sweet and so real (this is literally my irl husband 🤭)

Marshall- if I saw Marshall walking down the street I might faint, and if I tried to talk to him, my face would turn so red and I would lose all conscious thought. And he also has a squishy center, so you can see a pattern here 😂

Roberto- his looks alone scream EXACTLY my type on paper. He’s so pretty 😍

My fantasy type is probably Tai, Finn or Oliver. Those gorgeous, giants make me feel weak in the knees 🫠

If you had to guess, how do you think theo and mc are gonna end up together? Bc the way things are going rn (with us never even being able to talk to him) I just don’t know how it’ll work out and it’d be so weird if he just came out and said “hey I really like you let’s couple up” when we haven’t had a single chat with him. And it seems like at this point he’s more invested than claudia is especially after today’s episodes where she straight up tells mc she thinks she’s exactly her type. So I can see how her route will open up but all theo does is talk about how committed to claudia he is. I just need to couple with him rn!!!!!!

Oh friend, I’m equally frustrated about the whole thing!! And the short answer is- I don’t know. They are keeping Theo away from us which I find very rude and unnecessary. Like calm down fb, we know what a slow burn is 🙄

The long answer has three parts (maybe more 😂):

What I would love to see happen- we develop a true friendship with Theo, maybe confiding in each other about our partners or challenges, and it blossoms into something more. FTL is my drug of choice and I would eat that. But fb cannot be trusted to deliver such things 😔 (Ooh, fic idea💡)

What I think will happen- some major event with him and Claudia that ultimately breaks them up. We’re starting to see cracks, especially this volume with their lifestyle differences. He likes to travel, she likes to put down roots. And she doesn’t like his dancing 😂 But I have a sneaking suspicion that he kissed the OG Rachel we keep hearing about and maybe that comes to light. Then he’ll have a moment where he’s like, I was holding back because I was trying to do right by Claudia, blah blah blah. How we interact with him up to that point though, I’m hoping they’ll open his route with this Tyler guy coming in. Maybe he’s Claudia’s type and that makes Theo reconsider being so closed off.

What will probably happen- out of the blue, even if you haven’t flirted with him, he’ll confess his feelings. And then I will cry 😭 And it will probably be after Casa, like he realized it while we were gone.

I just want to interact with Theo, have a cheeky flirt. That’s the whole point of the show and should also be front and center in the game. Fb is just lazy and can’t be bothered to branch their stories properly anymore. We had more interaction with Noah for goodness sakes, or even Seb and Nicky, even though we were just friends. So we’re left with Theo crumbs for now 😢🤲

Why does Marshall is a dick have me going 👀?

LOL it’s such a random AU. I was inspired when I was reading a honey pot IF (thank you @mnlpine ), and I decided Marshall would be an excellent, sleazy booking agent for a strip club. Anyway, Maggie is a postgrad, working in a coffee shop that Marshall frequents. Here’s a snippet:

Maggie blew out a breath she didn’t know she’d been holding. The Brit had always seemed intimidating in an innocuous way, like he was aloof and untouchable. But standing there, raised to his full height (instead of bent over his phone) and telling some dickhead off- it stirred something primal inside her, and she could feel herself flush. She was used to rude customers and could fend for herself, in fact her manager encouraged it. She had extricated herself from stickier situations, even been called worse than stupid, and never once did she back down or ask for help. Yet in this moment, being protected by a man she hardly knew, she felt strangely cared for, even though she knew it didn’t mean anything to him.

Hello! I wanted to ask some questions about our auburn Thor called Finn if that's okay. So I finally gave in and did his route on All Stars and I really enjoyed it. No actually, I really loved it! People say that Hamish got a character development but people really sleep on Finn. Anyway, here are my questions since I imagined MC and his wedding yesterday (I just know they will get engaged in less than a year when all stars ended). What do you think in your headcanon that his last name is? Do you think he would invite anyone from S5 to his wedding other than Kat and Alfie? And please, if you have any other headcanons that you're comfortable sharing, feel free to share with a new Finn girlie. 🥺💚

Hi hi!! I was so excited to receive this ask 😄🥰 I really enjoyed Finn’s route for All Stars, and it was painful to see him get so much hate because fb can’t figure out how to have choices that actually matter (i.e. closing a character’s path once you’ve turned them down). Anyway, it’s so fun to hear from a fellow Finn-mancer 😍💗

Let’s see, last names for Finn: I feel like he would have a really common one, like O’Brien, O’Sullivan, Gallagher or McCarthy.

Wedding invites: So I have to specify that the Finn who was on S5 and All Stars is NOT the s5 Finn that ended the show with s5 MC (not in my headcanon anyway). It’s a whole AU situation and I could go off on one, but I’ll keep going 😂 In your scenario, I imagine the only other islanders from s5 that would make the guest list besides Kat and Alfie are Dana, Lulu and Eddie for a laugh.

Other headcanons: I can’t remember if they said he’s the youngest of the brothers, but I definitely get that vibe. He’s the best looking, but one of his older brother’s Scott (the sporty one) is the most similar in looks and personality, so Finn doesn’t like to bring girls around him. He’s a mama’s boy and his dad doesn’t take him too seriously. And he hopes to have a relationship/marriage like theirs one day. Now that he’s matured a bit, he takes loyalty seriously and wants to be a dedicated partner. He can be slow on the uptake sometimes, but he’s willing to learn and gives it his all when he puts his mind to it. And he’s just fun to be around, loves to laugh and is down for all sorts of adventures.
