So apparently neither Dew Nitikorn and Tor Atagorn nor Yoon Phusanu (who had a cameo that was apparently cut) have been paid for their work in For Him the Series (and that's just the people we know about). They've all spoken up about it on their twitter accounts presumably after their NDAs expired.

And on top of that, Tor has come forward about being stalked and harrassed on and off set, to the point where he's now in therapy and unsure whether he'll continue his career in acting:

The company behind For Him (and Unforgotten Night) is Y.Entertainment and yeah, 30min episodes with filler behind-the-scenes content and really bad audio seems to be the least of their problems.

15 Day BL Challenge

Here is the Full Challenge and can I just say that I appreciate all the love and excitement surrounding the challenge.

Day 5: Biggest Flop

Check Out the Series. Let's fucking talk about it. I publicly voiced my disappointment with Check Out the Series. I had sky high hopes for the series to be my favorite series of 2022. After such an amazing pilot episode and STELLAR teaser pics and pre-debut marketing my body was READY to be consumed by NineDaonuea and their whirlwind love affair.

I tuned in to the first 3 eps and found myself bored and even falling asleep. Like it was a total snoozefest, even with the promised extra spicy love scenes. The eps were extremely long and yet nothing seemed to happen. The plot seemed solid on paper but the execution was less than mediocre. I don't blame the actors because Chahub and Best had EXTRORDINARY chemistry and you will NEVER catch me blaming them or any of the other actors for this big flop of a series.

No, the problem is with scummy ass 9NAA. They completely botched this project. Not only did they have that issue with the streaming; jumping from YouTube to possibly OF to finally land on IQIYI. But it also seemed like they hired all new writers for this project. The series had a completely different energy than the pilot ep. Daonuea's character felt like a new person and they even squeezed Nine into this like 'DILF' role which I wasn't bothered by until I saw how forced it was.

And then I find out 9NAA was doing some shady shit behind the scenes to the actors. It was just an all around flop and I haven't watched anything else from 9NAA and probably never will.

Just know that I don't associate Check Out the Series with Check Out Ep 0. They are two separate entities.

❣️ Moonlight Chicken - one of my most anticipated shows over the past year and admittedly the first 2 episodes had me a bit unsure about the pacing and the characters as it was so divergent, which changed rapidly with episode 3 though and by episode 4 I was hooked lol. The storytelling approach is unconventional and so many nuances about the characters and their lives feel so real that it hits home hard lol and the realism + minimalism is a very nice change of scenery coming from gmmtv. The cast is superb to say the least and also the ppl behind the scenes deserve tons of praise because it’s obvious that it takes a good amount of life experience as well as in directing and writing to narrate these stories in the distinct way that they do and I applaud everyone who’s part of it because you can tell they put their heart and soul into this production. 9/10.

👎🏻 609 Bedtime Story - this is a bummer because I was really excited for this one, also since it’s from the eclipse director, and it had a very promising start but then it got real weird. Like why make it so complicated? there’s no need for that. We get the idea and what you’re trying to tell us. So why make the plot so tangled? sigh. On the other hand I really liked Ohm in this role and it might be his best one yet. He was finally able to showcase that he is capable of more than just 1 facial expression lmao so I liked him as Mum but unfortunately he wasn’t able to save the plot. what a shame. 6/10.

❗️ Jam & Film, the mains of the BL To Sir, With Love, will be starring in a new series together under OneD. Further details have yet to be announced.

❗️ The main actors for the upcoming BL Pit Babe were announced. The main roles will be played by Pon Thanapon & Benz Natthapong. Others include Pavel Phoom, Nut Supanut, Michael Kiettisak and more.

❗️ The upcoming BL My Universe will consist of 12 stories with 12 couples and 24 chapters.

Sorry to bug you, but could you give me the cliffs notes on what happened to Best and Chahub and the issues with 9naa? Thank you

Sure thing!

So basically when Best and Chahub's series Check Out first aired on iqiyi it was unavailable to watch in many countries. This prompted the director of the series to give an interview saying that the series was too explicit to show on any other platform such as youtube, and that they were looking into maybe broadcasting it via onlyfans.

Of course, there's nothing wrong with onlyfans and what it's used for, but you could argue that it's a very strange thing to say for a professional director who would probably be better off showing his series on other platforms more suited to traditional longform entertainment (like gagaoolala, the patron saint of queer media 🙏).

Add to that that pornography is illegal in Thailand, and any mentioning of it in an actor's portfolio is probably... not that great.

The director further said that during the filming of the intimate scenes they decided to do away with all protective clothing because it just couldn't be done otherwise (decades of spicy scenes in film beg to differ but ok). The actors were fully naked. They didn't decide this beforehand but directly on set. Many fans have later speculated that due to the stressful and time-sensitive nature of a film set, this might have been coercive and exploitative.

The scenes that were later shown in the series were actually not especially spicy. Certainly not spicy enough to call them "25+". Actually, they were so unremarkable (as far as spicy scenes go) that the series has since been re-released on youtube (albeit probably as a cut version? I'm not sure. I haven't watched it) - the very platform 9naa was so sure would ban them if they even so much as looked at the upload button.

Throughout the whole shock value promotion (because what else could it possibly have been?) the actors themselves stayed strangely quiet. They're apparently on record saying that they value their intimate scenes as art. That's it. There was no further promo. There were no follow-up jobs. Best and Chahub weren't in the special ep (according to mdl Best was but I can't remember him showing up hm). They were either quietly dropped by 9naa or bid their time until their contracts expired.

None of this is especially scummy or even illegal (at least as far as we know). It does leave a sour aftertaste however, because companies like 9naa always have the upper hand over their actors. A lot would have to happen for an (inexperienced) actor to speak up because breaking contracts and NDAs would mean losing their jobs and potentially being blacklisted and/or sued (even Yoon Phusanu only came forward after Y.Ent had already broken contract by not paying him until a set date).

So if a company makes weirdly sensational claims that they later either conveniently forget about or passive-aggressively backtrack on, then that's weird. If they show no interest in promoting their own talent and have a strangely high turnover rate for rookie actors, then that's even weirder.

And this isn't an isolated case. 9naa had a whole series planned with MFlow Entertainment. Beyond the Star was supposed to star actors from both companies, only for MFlow to later finish and broadcast the series on their own due to "differences in vision and work attitudes", editing out as many of 9naa's actors as they could. Weird, don't you think?

And, most recently, Cheque Wacharawee (from 9naa's Venus in the Sky) withdrew from any follow-up projects in a letter posted to his instagram because he had concerns due to work attitudes and couldn't even reach 9naa's lawyer (notice that he too only spoke up after 9naa had already violated his contract). 9naa reacted days later with their own very subdued announcement that has since been deleted. Very, very weird.

Who do you think is to blame here? The actors (most of whom are inexperienced and in Chahub's case haven't really acted since), MFlow (a small but reliable company that makes series that aren't always the most cohesive but at least the actors seem happy 🙏) or 9naa who's at the centre of it all?

Personally, as a fan of both Best Vittawin and Cheque Wacharawee, I've decided to no longer support or watch anything by 9naa. Kiseki Chapter 2 sounds nice and I hope its leads are doing well. Maybe the company has since learned from their previous unprofessionalism but people should at least be aware that they have something of a shady track record.

Thoughts on My Blessing. 

It seems like 9NAA is putting out another “prequel” like they did with Check Out to see how people react to a possible future project. That being said -- from this film alone, I hope they don’t carry forward with it. 

The story begins on Naina’s birthday where he makes a wish to become better looking and appealing to girls. It’s obvious, from him hitting on a girl at the place him and his best friend are at, that Naina has no game. He doesn’t know how to flirt with people and dancing is also not a strong suit. Cen appears during this time to laugh at Naina’s failed attempt at flirting and becomes intrigued with Naina when he believe’s Naina can see him.

Cen and Naina run into each other again when Ton, Naina’s best friend, tells Naina about another classman claiming a specific tree angel on their university campus granted him his wish. Ton explains to Naina how it doesn’t seem real since the classman offered the angel lollipops as a blessing. Despite that, both Ton and Naina go to the tree and offer blessings while making wishes. Naina, once again, wishes to become good looking and attractive to ladies.

Cen goes to visit Naina in his dreams to tease him. However, Naina believes him to be the angel of the tree he gave blessings to as Cen appeared wearing a flower garland and eating one of the lollipops that Naina left at the tree. Cen goes along with it (since Naina doesn’t believe he’s not the angel) and explains he will grant Naina three wishes.

#1 Naina wants to be more attractive

Cen accomplishes this by helping Naina pick out better clothes; not by actually making him more attractive. Cen gives Naina tips on how to dress better so he looks cool and will be more likely to have girls find him attractive.

#2 Naina wants to be popular among girls

Cen convinces Naina to try out for a T-Pop Dance Competition. Ton tries to tell him it’s a dumb plan as Naina isn’t known for his dancing, but Naina continues with Cen’s encouragement. After, what I assume is days of practice, Naina sends in his dance cover via the website. When the results come out with Naina being number one, Naina is able to achieve his dream to become popular among girls. 

His final wish comes up when he’s finally cornered by Ton to work on their project together as Naina has been very antisocial (in order to be with Cen). 

#3 Naina wants Cen to save Ton’s father

This is the moment when Cen has to confess to Naina that he’s not an angel. He cannot save Ton’s father and he’s not able to grant wishes. This causes Naina to become angry with Cen and yells at Cen to leave him alone. In the following days, Naina tries his best to get Cen to believe that his going to sleep after the news of Ton’s father was in order to help Ton. He wanted to make a wish to the tree “angel” to save Ton’s father. It’s only Cen’s help that Naina is able to convince Ton that he really meant to help Ton’s father.

Ton finally decides to listen to Naina after Cen helps him convince Ton the “angel” is real. It’s the last time Naina is able to meet Cen. Naina goes on a binge of not being able to sleep and tries many different methods in order to fall asleep in hopes of meeting Cen again. 

Cen visits Naina while he’s awake and mentions he won’t be able to meet again just because he wants to. When he runs into Cen again, it’s when he goes home after drinking with Ton and apologizes to Cen for how he acted during their last meeting. Cen apologizes for lying to Naina, as well.

Cen tells Naina he died a long time ago, but he hasn’t been reborn and he doesn’t know the reason why. Cen tells Naina about how when he was alive, he also had never been fulfilled in love like how Naina had complained about at his birthday with Ton (gif below from birthday).

Cen explains how he became fulfilled in love the night he met Naina (at his birthday celebration). After their emotional reunion, the two sleep together, which fulfills Cen’s need to be in love -- which (I’m assuming) is when he leaves Naina to be reborn. 

This reminds me of that filter on TikTok that tells you when you’ll meet your soulmate, but Naina got some year before he was born or something. I guess, in that sense, it’s a disconnected soulmates to lovers kind of thing...

It was nice to see Boat Anakame from Check Out again. I kind of miss the comic relief he brought to that show. I don’t really want to see a “continuation” or a more “in depth” version of this storyline. 9NAA fumbles when they seem to do either, but I hope the actors can find better projects.
