OH YEAH. okay one thing I DO want to talk about from Skyfall. That I think we should be talking about more. is the "he went into the priest hole for TWO (2) DAYS" thing.

I had like. known that was A Thing, but ig didn't see or forgot what it looked like. but the first look at it I was like. whoa. this is.... how do I say. like there's something visceral and primal and primitive about it just being bare rock. and I made a comment about how insane that is, and esp seeing the mine/cave-like rock and the thought of TWO DAYS down there.. that it's sth "like returning to some sort of primordial earthly womb (tomb)"

but then later they showed that the priest hole is NOT just like a bolthole. but a whole-ass tunnel system!!! EXTRA wild! what was Bond doing down there? WHERE exactly was he in the priest hold then? Was he hunkered down in some corner? Was he wandering around the caves like some sort of primordial spectre.

also there's something interesting/cool about it being like. seemed like it was just going to be a bolthole, and then they revealed it was this whole-ass tunnel system. Skyfall has a lot of maze/hidden/hiding symbolism, and there's something interesting about there being this, like. hidden earthly labyrinth at the heart/hearth/underneath Skyfall.

also the idea of baby Bond wandering a stone labyrinth under the very bones of his ancestral home after the death of his parents... and the whole when he came out he wasn't a boy anymore or whatever it was exactly Kincade said.... hmmm......... Minotaur? Minotaur vibes perhaps? I think there is something here- I think there's something to be said about hidden monstrosity/adversity bringing out monstrosity in us, plus the whole nature/nurture question of like, Bond and HIS "nature," was he born brutal or was he made brutal

(by his career, by his forging as a 00 agent, by M's machinations-- speaking of machinations. but okay god the way she. Manages him... I DO think there's a lot of interesting parts throughout the movies but there was a particular moment in Skyfall when she was like. hunt them down. for Ronson. like ggngng that was like. the emotional equivalent of those loop/stick leashes they use to capture stray dogs.... lowering the loop around his neck and tightening... and then once it's tightened she can move him around cuz it's a stick and not just a rope leash, she can literally physically lead him...) (and also the nature/nurture question of Silva's rats thing)

What Bond Should Do (sleep with hot chicks) but it didn't FIT with the previous scene I don't think....#although perhaps there's something interesting to read into like #she's a victim of the sex trade. he's a casualty of the need for sexspionage & 'by any means necessary'#and both of them in that moment were doing 'what they were supposed to' (I almost said what they were told lol. but I mean. ig that's not #wrong either? just like. what they were told. but doylistically)#so yeah I DO think there are interesting things in Skyfall that we could dig into more #that I don't think I've reaaally seen done or maybe done a lot of in fandom #although. you know me. I think the whole digging into the tension/fracture points in Bond's character are soo interesting. and so underdone #I think it's easy to just go with Bond as a whole character but to ME it's like. he has SO many stress points and fractures and #contradictions in his character. and that to me makes it sooo interesting #cuz it's present and it DOES cause tension/problems/trauma/etc #but also he's very like. brutally practical about it lmao! like. *shrug* strap my ribs in and keep walking cuz I gotta #or like. balances the knife edge of his contradictions and threads the needle of Remaining Functional #he's the machine that has been jury-rigged and patched up so many times that it's like. actually DON'T service it cuz you'll just #make it worse... like uhh water heaters that have never been drained - DON'T drain it cuz the limescale is probably what is keeping it #together and if you drain it you may actual reveal corrosion that is only being held together by the build-up #or like the car thing of like. if you've never changed your transmission fluid then the only thing keeping it running is the metal debris #and if you change it then actually it loses that debris that lets it catch and start and then you need a new transmission #sth like that

i swear my stepdad is so illogical AND stubborn it hurts

#okay so strap in coz this is a wild ride #tl;dr we have been without heat and warm water for years and i mean literal years #because he refuses to pay off some debt he built up with the company #because he feels unfairly treated (let's not get into this. it absolutely makes no sense) by the company #so instead of doing the logical step of growing some balls and admitting he made a mistake and paying off his shit #he's been looking for a new supplier all over but the deal IS #that he's been doing this with a couple of places before and people are hesitant to even make him any offers #and you'd think that learning about THAT at least now he'd be like. idk willing to just pay off his debt and be done with it #but you'd be WRONG #now he's looking to just have our entire heating system replaced for the teeny tiny price of 25000 bucks #mind you his debt isn't even a THIRD of that #and obviously he can't afford those 25000 bucks #so what's his next step now you might wonder?#well good thing you asked. his next step is going off on ME for not paying towards the new heating he wants #and now that that's not working for him guess what he did next?#that's right. he bought shit expensive 'space heaters' that are pretty much just small little boxes that you plug into an outlet #and he swears up and down that they're going to heat up our house (it's negative degrees outside)#(it's obviously not working)#and genuinely. all i can think of is how much money he shoved into trying to macgyver this house into a house with warm water and heating #and how he blew off ten thousands of bucks he got paid when he retired within the span of two weeks #when this debt could have been paid off ten times over by now #so now you might be thinking. okay tiago. why don't you move out #good question you see. my mom is disabled and reliant on someone who cares for her #something that he can't won't and shouldn't do because the last time he sorta kinda tried she almost died and we had to call an ambulance #she wouldn't eat a thing if i weren't there to cook. the house would fall into disrepair if i wouldn't do maintenance all around #i've set up (functioning) heat in some areas she occupies and i've gotten a boiler going so she at least has warm water #i'm paying off their bills to make sure he doesn't skip on paying any others. i'm buying groceries for them because again they wouldn't get #any for themselves #and finally. i've offered to pay off his debt so that we can finally live like normal fucking people do #and guess what. guess WHAT. he just got mad at me for not adding money to that 25000 bucks pool for that new fancy heating he wants

A while back you made a post talking about yakumo and his sensitivity to temperature and I haven't stopped thinking about it. imagine when winter comes around and yakumo becomes progressively sluggish, usually staying in the kitchen and not leaving for hours, always making something near the stove to feel a little warmth from the flames or from a little taste of the things he's making (soup probably), or him picking up the habit of bundling himself up and staying in the library to read and nap. maybe when it starts getting even colder he barely leaves his room because its too uncomfortably cold for him, and if he does he's probably looking for eiden to help him warm up, but if eidens not around he gets antsy and looks for somebody else in the mansion, but he's too shy to ask and looks at whoever with his wet eyes so they know he's cold and wants a cuddle

*inhales deeply* ah yes. you understand. you envision it all so clearly. rightly so. gEt in the wAy, everybody, snake burrito walking the halls very very slowly!!!!!!! (i was about to say get OUT of the way but that would probably make yakumo colder so why not do him a favour and collide with him on your way to another room)

This is the third weekend in a row that I won't have the chance to recharge I wanna cry T_T

#routine disruption!!!#first weekend was a little roadtrip with my sister #which was fun but not restful #second was book club (with potluck dish) and Mother's Day at the zoo with my nana (large crowds)#this weekend is my cousin's college graduation in the next state over #so again large crowds and then party environments with strangers #im so tired my brain is in a frazzle and ive barely had a chance to do laundry #and now executive function has fucking peaced out. straight up left the building.#so i spent the last like 2 hours rotting on my bed instead of taking a shower #only to find that the water heater thermostat got stuck or something so there was only lukewarm water #so i turned that up and am now waiting for it to heat up #im gonna have to go to bed with wet hair so its gonna look funny at the graduation party #personal #vent post

WHY are frozen fish sticks and tater tots considered even a remotely acceptable dinner. see i don’t trust ovens and air fryers (or know how to use them) and i barely trust microwaves, so when i’m home alone i usually subsist on whatever tiny processed snacks i can find around. then someone fiiiinally gets home and my options fruitfully expand to shitty frozen or microwaved foods. i’m not usually a neurotic person but a few minutes ago i stress cried a bit because dude. i do not want frozen fucking fish sticks and tater tots at midnight after a day of cheese sticks, reese’s cups (don’t even like them), and arizona tea. wondering why i’m tired and flabby idk maybe because the most sustaining meal i can consistently access in this house is a fucking maruchan cheese yakisoba. for a while that was a food i liked (kinda the shit the first time you try it as an 8 year old), but now it’s just one of the three options i have when my sibling gets home from work. tired as fuck of our little american shitshow fridge

#minxiety #legally we’re middle class functionally we’re working class #we’re only there legally because gpa works two jobs for like 80 hours a week #it doesn’t really affect me that much #but it does mean we end up with shitty frozen food instead of actual meals..#neither of which i know how to make on my own (was never taught).#actually more that i think about it the money thing does affect me kind of #like our heaters don’t stop working in the middle of a blizzard (they did once tho)#but i don’t see doctors or dentists for checkups ever. partially due to his negligence and i guess maybe medical bills #idk man. this is coming from a middle class family so imagine the american working class

I hate being a grown up. What do you mean I have to sit inside all day to wait for the plumbers to come for a second time to do a legionella test only to tell me my water heater is broken again? I should be at the club (read: cozy in bed)
