It was on sale for its anniversary so I bought a secondary copy of RE4 for PC. Now not only can I play with silly mods (googly eyes dr salvador, at last...!) but I can entertain myself in the purest, dumbest way I know how.
A stupid desktop shortcut.
welcome to the fold, child.

I'm not making this an actual fic (probably), but wanted to write out some stuff for splatoon/bloodborne AU anyway so text post it is. Will not be terribly lore compliant.
Shiver is a (human) hunter who had been using a chikage until she found the boom hammer, and fell in love with its explosive swings. She still goes back to her old weapon sometimes, just to keep things fresh. Wields her weapons in the opposite hands (gun right, melee left).
Frye was human, also a hunter, until she got afflicted with ashen blood-- which eventually caused her to turn into a blood starved beast. She pulled the skin off her own chest/back during the transformation in an attempt to get the uncomfortable feeling of the affliction to stop (didn't work, though it's where her "veil" is from). After this she kept to herself, generally avoiding other beasts and humans. Is always hungry, which is something that didn't change much from when she was human.
The two used to be hunting partners, and were very close. They shared a small house before Frye became a beast; she left during the change so she wouldn't hurt her partner. Shiver devoted more of herself to the hunt afterwards; her left eye started showing signs of blood-drunkenness, so now she always keeps it covered.
Despite Frye's attempts to stay hidden, Shiver ran into her on a hunt anyway. Though she doesn't bear much, if any, resemblance to her old human self, the bracelet she always wore (a now slightly dirtier yellow/purple cord with a little gold squid hanging off it) was still around her wrist. Shiver (absolutely did not) started crying when she noticed it and dropped her weapons (probably almost died before Frye also recognized her).
Now Frye follows her around, helping her on the occasion she goes hunting and mooching for blood cocktails (Shiver usually complains about the price). They're looking for somewhere safe to stay where the locals won't attack either of them Frye in her current state. Shiver heard a rumor about an old, burnt and forgotten town-- a home to beasts-- that they might be able to rest at...

I'm so tired and I need to go to bed but I just HAVE to ramble about "A Message of Art" because in one episode the Apocalypse Players have already managed to lay the groundwork for some really interesting themes about the need to perform creativity/sophistication and the thin line between art "subject" and object, especially when it comes to female agency.
Jane Harnsworth-Wright is immensely wealthy and powerful as an art dealer and carves out a place for herself in the circuit of the art world as a woman. But the control and status that affords her also makes her complicit in the objectification of other women AND highlights how she is trapped in her own way. She still needs to polish and present herself and worries what will happen when her beauty is gone. Edwina Alexander, the "piece of all pieces" as labeled by her, fully embraces the fact that her beauty can get her whatever she wants. The tension and covetousness of their relationship as art dealer and muse: "I [Jane] tuck a finger under Edwina's chin as if I'm examining a piece of art. And I think in that moment all of you realize, I buy what I want" (🤨❓️🏳️🌈). Edwina is "delectable." Yet they also have this practical alliance because they both understand exactly how this whole scene functions. Jane says, "I feel like you'll be my best friend at this party from this point forward." Later, Edwina remarks, "I think [Jane] can be helpful to me, weirdly, so I want to keep you a little bit close." They can be honest with each other and talk about what "beauty" really means in this context. Jane has a very pragmatic view of how the salon works, seeing it as more transactional than a celebration of culture: "Do you want to be an artist, or do you want to be the subject of artists, or do you want to buy art? And there's nothing else to be found here. Which is it, darling?" Edwina resists this classification and coming into the salon with her own agenda: "I'm interested in people and where they're from and what life's all about really... so, subject of art, what do you mean by that, Jane?" Her beauty is a tool that gets her in the door but she doesn't identify as a muse even though everyone sees her that way.
Not to mention the tiny glimpse of what's going on with Bathsheba. "LaRouche...is looking around to sort see if anyone else is looking at her, in a way that someone might he showing something off, like how you, Clovis, might be showing off one of your paintings." Bathsheba's beauty making her a threat to Edwina because women are treated like accessories and aesthetic accents to the environment. Not to mention how homoerotic this entire situation is

ooooh u play cotl? do you have tips. i am still early game (beat first boss). my cult is ass
yeah i have :D i think im like. two bosses deep? i have not played in A While tho unfortunately orz
uhhh i feel like the way to get better is just . dodge. a lot . and find a weapon + spell (or a few) that you're particularly comfortable with to use primarily, but be adaptable as sometimes ur weapon might not be available . if you're getting low on HP prioritize dodging and staying ranged with ur spell if possible . you will die to the bosses. do not feel bad abt it . learn their patterns tho. like every roguelike enemies telegraph. you just gotta learn the signs and be ready to dodge >:3
