Saint Simeon Stylites was a Christian ascetic most famous for living 37 years on the top of the column near Aleppo, modern-day Syria. The Saint was expelled from the monastic community because of his excessive austerities, which made him a hermit. During his life on a pillar, he converted many people to Christianity and was a helpful hand for those who sought spiritual counsel, protection, and relief from sickness. After his death, the column became a pilgrimage site.

For just $188.00 The icon "Agnia Martyr" depicts us an Orthodox saint, who is venerated not only by the Eastern, but also by the Western Church. Several icons were dedicated to her, as well as the famous painting of Hussep Rieber “Saint Inessa”. The painting depicts a martyr who does not renounce holy faith, even in the face of shame and mortal danger. Saint Agnia was born in ancient Rome. Her parents raised their daughter in the Christian faith. Almost nothing is known of the martyr's early childhood. The tragic events in the life of St. Agnia occurred during the reign of Emperor Diocletian, when the girl was only twelve years old. Saint Dmitry of Rostov describes Saint Agnia as a noble girl with a beautiful face. The girl was so beautiful that Agnia decided to devote her beauty to the Heavenly Bridegroom, refusing all earthly youths. Saint Agnia loved Jesus Christ with all her heart, placing love in her heart immediately after Holy Baptism. Once, a young man from a wealthy and noble family came to Saint Agnia who wanted to marry her. The martyr rejected the young man, and he for a long time tried to find out why Saint Agnia did not want to be his wife. Upon learning that Saint Agnia honors Christian laws, he told his Simon Fron, who decided to persuade the saint to abandon the Christian faith and go to paganism. He even allowed Saint Agnia to become a vestal in order to preserve his virginity. However, the girl did not begin to worship the "soulless stone", since the Christian faith lived in her heart. Symphronius no longer thought about his son. He decided at all costs to discourage Saint Agnia from the Christian faith. But the girl was adamant. Then Symphronius promised to send Saint Agnia to an obscene house, where she would be given for reproach. The girl was stripped in order to lead her naked throughout the city, but by the will of the Lord, Saint Agnia immediately grew long hair that hid all her nudity. Being imprisoned, an angel of the Lord came ...

Fast Rasputin sponge painting Did you know there are those who consider him a holy martyr? The Empress surely did. I dunno about that, but I like the idea of a drunkard, sex-crazed, but also generous, gregarious and mystic saint. His flaws make him interesting and sympathetic imho. #rasputin #romanov #tsaristrussia #russianhistory #art #spongepainting #quickpainting #inkpainting #inkportrait #artistsoninstagram #sketchersize #sketchbook #orthodoxsaints #russianorthodox #historyart #dailyart #dailydrawing #artpractice https://www.instagram.com/p/Cdb756QPNDQ/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Today’s recipe is saint Fanoourios Cake. The saint of lost things. By one of the most amazing Γιαγιάς I have met at church, Veve Chournos. There is a special place in my ❤️ for this lady. I was also hoping that if I baked the cake before finding my marbles (mind) Saint Fanourios might take pitty on me because of my kind Gesture. 😂 or not. #fanourios #fanourioscake #orthodoxsaints #greekorthodox #tastyrecipes (at South Ogden, Utah) https://www.instagram.com/p/CDhaeahB55t/?igshid=1lakknz5h5g1l

from @lebanese.orthodox  -  Success in individual prayer.
Praying, like anything else, requires exercise. Among the success factors in prayer:
1- Set aside a specific time for prayer. It is better to have a time when there is no fuss.
2- Commitment to prayer: Satan will try to block us from delaying or canceling the prayer. We must stick to the appointed time. Perseverance and impulsivity are among the most important factors for success.
3- Prayer includes thanksgiving, praise and students. Thanks for all that we have and what God has given us. The request is often to help resist passions, help with earthly matters, or it may be a request to help others.
4- Review our actions and thoughts before prayer. If there is a deviation from the straight line, we present the penance and correction of the path.
5- Use prayer books, psalms, or recorded prayers to help.
6- Preparing for prayer through spiritual readings - the lives of the saints, the sayings of the fathers, the gospels, the letters, the psalms, etc.
7- Praying several times during the day. For example, prayer books can be used for magic prayers, sunset prayers, and minor sleep prayers. These books help a lot.
8- Ignore any thoughts related to earthly life outside the topic of prayer (students).
9- Feelings of fear (fear, anxiety, excessive enthusiasm) are not drifting behind life during the day
10 - Remember God several times during the day (by having icons at home, remembering the saints' feasts, etc.) #lebaneseorthodox #orthodox #orthodoxy #georgianorthodox #orthodoxe #greekorthodox #russianorthodox #easternorthodox #ukranianorthodox #athos #mountathos #monk #jesus #churchofchrist #theotokos #paisios #orthodoxchristian #orthodoxchristianity #orthodoxchurch #ortodox #orthodoxicons #orthodoxia #orthodoxe #orthodoxy #orthodoxquotes #orthodoxmonastery #orthodoxsaints #orthodoxfaith #orthodoxlife #josephthehesychast #hesychasm  -  https://www.instagram.com/p/B-UeMKVpzKS/

Original #FeastDay of #BishopOfMyra, also known as #SaintNicolas #Sinterklaas, & #SantaClaus. He inherited money. To help the poor, he quietly deposited coins down chimneys. Of course the trespassing made it #Subversive. As time went on, the #FeastDay was moved from 6 December to 25 December & the original intention of the devotion got all muddled w/#DepartmentStores & #ShoppingMalls & #MadeInChina. #Safeway has this display, which came as close to a more realistic depiction of the #LiturgicalApparel he might have worn when celebrating Mass, than the all red garments we see in popular illustration. Doubt he could have dropped many coins down chimneys in this rig. He probably had a darker complexion, certainly the chimney work would have done a number to his beard, if he had one. Happy #SaintNicolasFeastDay! #OrthodoxSaint & #LatinRiteSaint. (at Safeway)
