okay so basically i love pucci we have to kill him. here is a list of my thoughts in no particular order

he makes me so ill like genuinely he is one of the most well written jojo characters ever and DEFINITELY the most well written villain. like holy shit. i think a lot about how weather said the evilest of people are those who think they are good and how that relates to pucci oh my GOD it makes me sick. pucci like many villains are a "ends justify the means" kinda guy like while he was cruel at many points i truly think he was jsut like, yes this is a moment of weakness but it wont matter because im going to fix it. i think aobut how he really thought he was going to save everyone. he was going to save perla. he was going to save dio. he was going to save himself. and thinking baout things from his side, like, oh my god. dio was his only friend. we the audience know that dio groomed him (not necessarily sexually but still grooming) and even though dio did seem to grow to truly care for pucci, he didnt care enough to not use him for his plan to restart the world -- but PUCCI didnt know that. im sure he had inklings and feelings like he's not NAIVE, im sure he KNEW dio was using him at SOME point, but it wouldnt change the fact dio still eventually saw him and was his friend either way. it wouldnt change the fact that he would do this one thing for his only friend, even if his only friend BECAME his friend in the first place just to make him fulfill this task. god dio and pucci's relationship is so insane i hate hate hate that people boil it down to just shipping LIKE THERE WAS RESENTMENT THERE WAS ANGER THERE WAS SO MUCH LOVE AND HALF OF IT WAS LOVE FOR WHAT THE OTHER COULD DO FOR HIM INSTEAD OF JUST HIM HIMSELF . LIKE FUCK'S SAKE im sick of ppl putting a romantic spin on everything and YES this is half me being aromatnic but also COME ON. and that's not even getting into the fact dio and pucci's relationship is supposed to parallel jolyne and jotaro's/jolyne and jonathan's. but anyway

I WAS PUTTING A BUNCH OF CHARACTERS IN THAT HUNGER GAMES SIMULATOR SITE RECENTLY

here are some highlights. furthermore, i rambled (huge surprise i know)

anyways i love hunger games AUs (i love when characters suffer and die) so i will definitely spend a long time considering this. ive fully written out several with ocs. my first fandom was the hunger games ok i read all three books 11 times so now i have to ponder everything forever

i think aventurine would do really well with getting sponsorships and all that. well liked by the capitol. kind of a finnick type of guy. ratio i feel like wouldnt be as well liked, but still have a decent amount of sponsors since he’s strong and very smart so he’s got higher odds of winning.

okay wait they do kind of have peeta and katniss vibes like not THAT much but the crowd-pleasing good at acting guy and the NOT crowd-pleasing guy who is skilled in survival and not great at acting but unfortunately has to play along with blonde mans act to get ahead. i can see ratio doing that thing katniss did with shooting the arrow at the people supposed to be judging her and sarcastically bowing and going Thank You. For your Consideration. but i suppose he just throws a chalk.

i think a lot of people would want to ally with ratio but he would reject them. makes no sense if they’ll just have to kill each other later. aventurine.. hmm. well like i said he’s well-liked by the capitol which means he’s probably not as liked by the tributes, and considering he doesnt like to show his hand (haha card reference) he wouldnt have shown any skills he has, so no one would particularly have any incentive to ally with him. but. Ough. well. kakavasha. if we made them separate like in the quest and kakavasha was one of the kids that got reaped for the games. well lets not think about that too much or i’ll get sad

ultimately considering aventurine’s luck etc i think he’d make it pretty far and if he DID die it wouldn’t be an accident or a surprise, he’d have set himself up for it to either allow someone else a win, OR spare himself a more gruesome/painful death later. if ratio died i think it’d be an accident. i dont think anyone could actually kill him in a fight, but he could get caught or hit by a trap or he tried to be smart and go out to the edge of the arena but hit the barrier and got zapped. like i feel like it’d have to be somethign small, ONE thing he happened to overlook. but i think it’s obvious neither of them is winning alone. they win together or they both die OR aventurine deliberately sets himself up to die at the very end so ratio is declared the victor. i think that one is pretty likely and hurts in the best way so lets go with that one alright? aventurine eats some poisonous shit or smth in secret and ratio thinks they’re going to find a way to win together until aventurine is like. actively dying and admits what he did. Lol. 😆

loved drawing everyone here!! the diversity in styles and designs is very fun to look and and was neat to experiment with! trying out their style while mincing some of my own in, aswell as how everyone fits on the page,,,mwa💛✨. i really like characters with an exaggeration on expression (+ mesmerizing fluid/fire/smoke animation) so Remkae’s mind design/mindification-of-a-character was a MUst. silly eyes. kalei!!’s Estranger anim crew was very cool to look at and draw, and here i experimented with the squiggles which turned out better than how i usually do it. i had watched the animation recently then and that heart came into…mind. jeweled’s style and fellers are just so fun to look at…i just want to hold them. so simple and neat i love them. i love how their heart fits so nicely in here, looking snug but almost smug. and occulee’s stuff and style just had human faces down and their concepts for mind are very cool :]. trying out different ways to draw hair, and with the 6th spooky month out i’ve been maybe unironically drawing in the roy-hair-style?? occulee’s mind has a mishmash-monstermash hair style. foof to get in his face <33

Savanaclaw: Leona other than heehee hoohoo pretty lion man i kind of relate to him as well??? he has this "i give up, what's the point" attitude but at the same time i believe there's still something at the back of his mind that still wants and believes there's "hope" of being something more that's just how i interpret his character tbh bro also seems to have a soft spot for the first years (jack and epel specifically i believe) and i think that's cute

Octavinelle: Floyd to be honest my feelings about the octatrio are pretty neutral so in terms of favorites they're all on the same level ;;; but to explain, i chose floyd because i kind of disliked him in the beginning but i learned to appreciate his character more until he's in the same level as azul and jade

Scarabia: Kalim KALIM IS LIKE A CLOSE SECOND TO JAMIL IN TERMS OF FAVORITE and considering they're just two people i really have no other choice - kalim ;;; my beloved sunshine boy it's weird labeling you as least favorite scarabia character

Pomefiore: Rook rook is another level of UNHINGED omg i like seeing how others interpret him though, it's so funny amping up his stalkerish behavior, which is the thing that really puts me off about him but i do like that he sees the beauty in everything that's like the only redeeming quality i can think of for him hfdksjfldj

Ignihyde: Idia another instance of having no other choice because it's only two characters in the dorm 😭 the only reason i chose him here is because i disliked idia at first because of his ;;; tendencies in general but he's kinda grown on me recently especially after book 6

Diasomnia: Sebek i have ;;; mixed feelings about sebek tbh didn't like him at first but book 7 and interpretations of him had me thinking a bit differently i think i just like him in the context of the rest of the diasomnia cast ;;;

PROMISES IN HAIKYUU

specifically this one:

you know the one. the good ol' "I don't care how shitty the toss is, if it's sent my way, I'll hit it" said by none other than Hinata "I keep my promises" Shouyou.

now, in the midst of my monthly season 4 rewatch, i was reminded of the super tense points at the end of the Inarizaki vs. Karasuno match, including the one where Hinata uses his foot to score a point, which isn't the first time he's done it, but i'll be using it as my prime example anyway because i feel like the mood is less "omg he used his foot to score how crazy is that" and rather more of a "HEY GUYS LOOK AT THE CRAZY INSANE BOND BETWEEN THESE TWO CHARACTERS"

Let us begin.

Alrighty so we've got ourselves a pretty sticky situation here. The scores are tied 25-all, and letting Inarizaki get the point would just put the pressure back on Karasuno so it's best to avoid that. They're all getting pretty tired, it's taking more energy to get to places, reactions are delayed, all that.

So, Kageyama goes to set the ball and...

It kinda flops. Unfortunate, yes.

and To Be Fair, if this was ANY OTHER GUY this would have been a point lost for Karasuno. Easy. Literally no questioning that. If this was a toss to Tsukishima or Tanaka or Asahi or LITERALLY ANYONE ELSE, that ball would have dropped.

but it doesn't.

Because it's Hinata, that ball stays in play. Hinata picks it up anyway because this is a toss for HIM. Not getting it up would be breaking a promise.

now, a promise like this isn't too insane, but the timing of which it's made IS. that promise is made just after Tsukishima airs out all of Kageyama's dirty laundry from his middle school days, talking about the whole "no one was there" thing (which leads into the "no one was there" / "i'm here" interaction that literally make me explode every single time without fail).

to paraphrase in a Very Normal way: "my tosses were too fast and demanded too much and so the ball just dropped and that was the most traumatic thing to ever happen in my life second to my grandpa dying" followed by "okay Cool. whatever. I literally do not care actually (soz abt ur grandpa tho </3). you could set the ball to the other side of the school and as long as it was addressed to me i'll get it. i do not care. just toss to me pls i beg" and that's that. boom. promise made. will never be broken. ever.

And then there is, of course, the other promise that is "One day I'll win and stay on the court the longest" that gets established in the first episode and is KEPT and just. ugh. i love how this show establishes promises and no matter how crazy they may seem they're always kept.

I'm also just really normal about the way kghn exist and function in General. i swear everything they do is so insane to me THEY ARE INSANE. like the way their relationship is built on a foundation of trust that never even needed to be there in the first place, and the way that they've kept age old promises (like the one i mentioned in the previous paragraph and the fact that it took TEN YEARS for Hinata to finally make up on it), and the way they keep count of all their little competitions, and the way Hinata has always accepted Kageyama for who he is, flaws and all, and the way that Kageyama made a toss for Hinata that would let him fly as high as he wanted to (whenever i get to that part where they mention that most tosses are "setter sets and spiker meets that height" but point out that Hinata and Kageyama's attacks are always "spiker jumps and setter tosses to meet that height" I GO ABSOLUTELY WILD EVERY SINGLE TIME) OUGH i am so so so normal.

actually, never mind, I'm gonna post the uriel rambling now. uh. tw for mentions of child abuse.

uriel clements my favourite little guy of all time ever. i rewatched the beach episode today and OUGH. tiny little freak who was made in a lab to be annoying and has been treated So Badly all of the time by everyone. he's like if jean-paul was fourteen and LARPed as a CEO. i want to give him a hug.

like it's inherently very fucking funny to imagine this little eidetic memory motherfucker following you around popping his head up around rocks and suchlike like a jack-in-the-box but the beach episode is a comedic take on the characters' authentic personalities. their traits are exaggerated for comedy. beach episode is distilled characterisation! this is the same stealth-factor that made him come off as creepy in canon. and with the later implications that uriel was physically abused this becomes also very fucking sad. guy who melts into the background when you look at him because it's not safe for him to stand out. guy who decides to express "I like you" by [stalks you] and "I want an ice cream" by [stares at you], in light of Isaac's fucking attitude (spoilers but he Really Does Not Care what his kids want), becomes guy who doesn't express anything he wants because he has learnt that no one cares. my god. and on the 'shitawful social skills' and 'very good at quickly becoming unobtrusive' front, i mean. there's Also the fact that he is used as a tape recorder by his dad. more notably he is used as a bug. little guy who is constantly inserted into situations where his very presence and purpose are Infuriating to Everyone because he is Fucking Spying On Them so he's just accustomed to everyone hating him. made in a lab to be annoying (;-;).

just. idk. i think there's something particularly insidious about casting your child in a role (tool of corporate espionage) that will inevitably draw hostility and make everyone view him as "that little bugger" and an obstacle to be eliminated. i think that's a devastatingly effective manner to make sure no one recognises him for what he is: a kid in an abusive situation. they're so busy pre-emptively countering Uriel the Spy that no one thinks "hold up, that's a 14 year old and this family dynamic is FUCKED". it's vaguely similar to how heartbreaker from worm uses his kids as tools of violence, though that's much more extreme.

and now thinkigm about how eve in canon was the one to go "hold up, that's a 14 year old in need of medical assistance" and reach out to him. and. OUGH... eve... ;-; <3 i love you eve i would also follow you around for 3 hours <3

and this already shows! thinking about how beach episode uriel tagged along after eve so much and eventually gave her his number because 'she seemed friendly' and thinking about distilled characterisation and thinking about how uriel Still pissed eve off So Much but she humoured him the way an average adult would an average child, because she's a nice person, and FUCK. little guy for whom being treated like a kid instead of a corporate weapon is so revolutionarily kind that he is Never Ever Gonna Let This Person Go because they're clearly one in a million. I'll have to rewatch the main canon, but I do wonder whether any of Uriel's fascination with Eve was just liking for someone who showed him kindness in accordance with nurse bot procedures. This could tie in to the "no one cares what he wants" thing; guy who digs up blackmail on you to force you into being nice to him and/or help him out of a shit situation because it doesn't even cross his mind that you'd do so without being forced. [Cough.] Kenzie Martin energy. I so badly want to make them go panopticon vs panopticon.

I think beach episode exposes a very real loneliness in Uriel. And a very real desire to be helpful. Which now has me wondering how much of that was biologically hard-coded into him to make him more obedient...

Speaking of Friend!! Ghostbur being an animal lover is just… yes. He’s so sweet and kind and gentle to Friend and loves him dearly and takes him everywhere on a little leash, and he calls Friend his “comfort sheep” and Friend really does help calm Ghostbur down and aaaaaaah he’s like a therapy pet and it’s adorable 🥺

Ghostbur’s devotion!! To the people he loves!! Oh my gosh!! Like he literally followed Tommy to his death, and did everything he possibly could to help Tommy and make sure he was taken care of and felt loved; and the compasses!!! Aaaaaaah!!! Ghostbur gave Tommy a compass that pointed to Tommy’s best friend, and Ghostbur knew it would mean a lot to Tommy so he went through the painstaking process to make the compass and EEEEEEEEEE!!!

Oh! Exile! Can I talk about Exile? Yes, I shall.

Ghostbur was pretty much the only one who visited Tommy during Exile. The only one! And not only that, but Ghostbur stayed; he built Tommy a house, helped him make Exile a home (or as much of a home as it could be) and helped decorate and would take pictures of L’manburg and bring them back for Tommy to look at, and he helped with the beach party planning and happily offered to send invitations… like I feel like people don’t talk about this. Ghostbur helped Tommy a lot during Exile—so much so that Dream, the big bad guy of the server, saw Ghostbur as a threat and tried to kill him!!!

DREAM!!! THE BAD GUY!!! SAW GHOSTBUR AS A THREAT!!! WHY DON’T PEOPLE TALK ABOUT THIS?!!

Lots and lots of people see Ghostbur as a child, as immature, as silly or weird or pointless or something else, and while yes, Ghostbur does have very weird and very innocent and very child-like quirks, that is not his entire personality.

In actuality, Ghostbur is an incredibly cunning, smart, resourceful, thoughtful, deeply caring individual who thinks hard about things, and communicates himself in a wonderfully unique way! I really resonate with a lot of what Ghostbur says :)

So many people see Ghostbur as the “tee-hee silly ghost boy” and like… have they even watched his Doomsday stream?? Have. Have they even watched it?? Have they heard Ghostbur screaming at Phil??? Have they heard, “I know I’m forgetful, I know I’m an amnesiac, I know I’m the comic relief in all your stories but I still feel things, and I try my best to make sure no one else feels them” (said through tears, by the way)

HAVE THEY HEARD THAT??? HAVE THEY HEARD, “I sowed the seeds of peace, and yet I’m the one who pays for war”??? DID THEY HEAR ANY OF THAT???

Heck, even Phil, the one Ghostbur said all this to, merely said this: “I’m sorry. You’ll understand someday.”

tha BLUES. not the music just. the color. he's a very frosty guy and he sorta lives up to the aesthetic lol. he'll wear any colors, although I feel the most common are like. blue and white. other neutral tones thrown in, cool colors too. and patterns are good.

hm... low? it was already low before he started t, so it's honestly a little soothing. as for tone... pretty serious, usually. even when he's joking, his humor is very dry and deadpan. it's really funny when he gets all riled up and his voice cracks, tho.

shirai and daiya: their beloved kuya. oh how they treasure getting on his last fucking nerve. no but really they both look up to him sooo much, they think of him as a really steady and caring person. to his face tho, "kuya killjoy" lmao. "shortass."

murphy: LMAO don't trust this man he's down bad. "cute," obviously. nerd but in an endearing way. a giver, but needs to take better care of himself.

ok so josh(ua majkavić) is my character for my friends and i's monster of the week campaign The Body and like his entire character concept is being if damien thorn or rosemary's baby or any other human-raised demonspawn grew up to become a guy who sucks. he grew up around the appalachian part of georgia but has been living in the general area of chicago with his ineffectual nerd roommates for most of his adulthood now

he's pretty majorly depressive/somewhat of a doomer, terminally insincere, and is generally predisposed to cruelty, but he's a pretty funny guy mostly intentionally. in all reality he cares quite hard and usually does not actually mean to be awful but it is literally his nature it makes him feel kind of bad sometimes but he also genuinely has to throw up if anyone cries around him. he also did beat a kid on an opposing roller hockey team to death when he was like 15 and made blood and dead fish rain on his town for about 12 hours don't worry about it.

he doesn't really leave his room if he can help it he has a really scary like prison gym setup in there and a carefully controlled climate both so he can keep as covered up as possible all the time and so his intricate crypto rig(/only source of income because he doesn't want to be a line cook again) doesn't catch on fire

has tyler durden-esque god-daddy issues despite having no father involved in his creation and is a COLOSSAL momma's boy to the point of getting about as close to being a misandrist as a cis bi man can get. speaking of which his mom (rosemary<3 aren't i clever) is a slightly hippieish cultist who had him as part of a ritual so he can bring about the radical change her group wants and bring about the end times but she also loves her baby (29 year old son) so so so so so so so much. he knows that most kids didn't have animal sacrifices at their birthday parties but he doesn't feel like having that conversation with anybody!

ok anyway ummmmmm let's see. he is the kind of guy that shaves his head in response to any occasion of major stress. starting as a young teenager one of his favorite hobbies was writing gruesome chainmail stories and he stopped in his early 20s but he thinks about going back to it sometimes. he was hooking up semi-regularly with their now-dead roommate and that is going to be a bigger deal than he ever expected it to be. his favorite movie is martyrs and his favorite game is cs:go which he is VASTLY toxic in. he's 5'10" and gets insecure about it sometimes. while he is quite good with computers he is still the least tech-inclined of his household and he recently clicked on a sketchy link his sister's hacked account sent him once and his roommates have lost all faith in his internet safety knowledge and he is suffering the consequences more in that way than he is in actual damage to his pc. he has a really bad tattoo somewhere but i haven't decided where or what yet a tribal tattoo is tempting but almost feels too obvious for a former linecook

he is very fun i think i do a bad job at describing him in a way that doesn't sound intolerable to play with i promise everyone loves josh. i still have not finished art of him at any point but the best i have to offer is this. jotch at 29 at the time of the campaign, around 15-16, and at his ninthish birthday with his mom:D

🌙 sleep schedule - oh my god…nonexistent. usually, though, they make a point to go to sleep before one am. sometimes that’s impossible with how hyperactive his husband is, but he soon falls asleep anyway. like i mentioned in a previous post, he could fall asleep in the middle of a tornado.

🍷how do they feel about alcohol? - it’s alright! he’ll drink with his husband or with friends, but never alone. it’s not fun that way! definitely a laughing drunk. just saying shit that doesn’t make sense. prefers whiskey or something that tastes like shit.

👪 relationship with parents? - really good. his dad is a german immigrant who moved before he really developed an accent, and his mother is from italy. she has a heavy accent and is very forthright about things. sometimes she gets on his nerves (there’s dirt all over you! your hair is fried!) but he loves her. he spent most of his childhood with his dad, who showed him a lot of music and is in general just a sweet guy. developed a southern accent from him, but pronounces his “s” and “r” in a more italian way.

💘what do they find attractive about their partner? - his rambunctious personality! he likes being able to keep up with someone for once, and for someone to keep up with him. his husband is glued to nothing and has a love for life he admires, and that makes him attractive to sticks.

🧑‍🍼how do they feel about kids? - they’re..okay. he isn’t very good at entertaining, but he does love little boy humor. if he’s babysitting he tends to show kids bugs and stuff he’s found, and likes to teach them that they aren’t scary.

He’s been on my mind a lot as of late so I’m gonna gush about my sunshine boy for a second. Pardon me. o//v//o;

OUGH OKAY!! So!!!

It occurred to me that for as important as Kyojuro is to me, I haven’t actually spoken up about my ship with him. Like at all. And that’s a travesty on my part lmao. So I wanted to just take a second to show my love and appreciation for him. (I’ll get around to posts like this for all my loves but Kyokyo gets first dibs because I said so.)

Okay, so, full stop— when we first came across Kyojuro in the anime I wasn’t sure about him. I knew he had the potential to be a good guy and that the show would build up on it, and I knew the movie would really push things over the top for him. But, on a personal level, I didn’t expect to get full-throttle sucker-punched in the feels over him. Like, for a good few weeks after I saw the movie and had time to process it, I was just… pining. Pining so hard and not even really realizing it LMAO. Once I realized it though, I was a mess and never looked back, haha.

I won’t lie— I think a lot of why Kyojuro means as much to me as he does is because he came in at just the right time when I needed him and he firmly made a place for himself in my heart. I know the “set your heart ablaze” speech really resonated with a bunch of people, and for me, it hit right at a time when I needed to hear it most. It was such a weird feeling— it was one of those times where I felt like a character was reaching for me as much as I was reaching for him, so to speak.

*Kicks my feet* I dunno. I dunno!! It’s like… his words especially just… stuck with me in a way that’s so big, you know? So much so that I’ve come close to getting them tattooed in one way or another. (I’m getting Kyojuro, Shuichi, Optimus and Diallos ink at some point, it’s just gonna be a long time coming lol.) And since I’ve been thinking about getting more tattoos as of late, he’s just been on my mind a lot more recently. I mean, I guess that goes without saying— Kyojuro and Spinner are the two who I keep the closest at all times, tbh? Physically and emotionally— at work and at home they’re both on my desk and they have the most space taken up on my phone LMAO.

I just. ;w; I love him a lot. I love him and miss him all the time. Maybe that’s why I haven’t actually gushed about him— he’s always on my mind anyway and I speak about him a lot verbally, so I just kind of forget to say anything in a written way? Livio and Razlo are my BOYS man, they're my guys. OUGH.

Usually I am Not A Fan of characters being added to the main cast super late in the game, but I think him being introduced a little earlier as a villain superrrr helped me accept him as Part of The Gang. Ya know? He's one of my favourite characters and I just adore him. That being said, it's really hard to talk about him without spoilers. Like, really hard. Actually Trigun is hard to talk about without spoilers! So I'm gonna shove this long ramble nobody is gonna read, under a read more. I'm a kind soul, I'm protecting your dash.

Also total warning, this isn't like... legible, this is the worse way to learn about the character cos im just going "wow it was cool when he did this thing... and also this thing... hes so cool i love him" for too many words.

So I'll address his main sort of... thing, first off. So Livio has dissociative identity disorder, and like, for a lot of it, it's quite clear that Nightow didn't exactly go in with a heap of research on the subject. However, I wouldn't call it a negative portrayal at all. Ofc its not really up to me, but like, he wasn't really portrayed as dangerous because of his disorder. He and Wolfwood have the same backstory, they're dangerous because of The Eye of Michael and those dudes have always been explicitly condemned in-narrative as, y'know, the baddies. It's less "he's bad because he's bad" and more "he does these things because he's been conditioned by a cult from a young age to do these things". His disorder is like... not even a factor. The Eye just likes stealing kids and training them for bad stuff, man. And like, you do feel sorry for them. Both Livio and Razlo have been hugely manipulated by Chapel in particular, who positioned himself almost as a father figure, and certainly led them to believe he cares about them. So like, it's not really surprising he does everything he's asked to, he hasn't really had anywhere else he's felt cared for. Anyway I LOVE Livio's intro in the manga. We're told two guys are coming, Livio the Double Fang, and The Tri-p of Death.

Then these two dudes show up:

And like... you make the obvious assumption that those are the guys, ya know? Sure looks double-fangy to me. They're then shown tearing through a bunch of intimidating looking dudes to sort of, hype up how strong they are, right? But nuh cos see.

Livio just comes in and wrecks their shit, picks them both off as though they were nothing.

and to be fair, they are! He's a very high-level eye of Michael dude ya know?

So yeah, that's our introduction to Livio, fantastic way to show that he's just, like, strong as hell. We learn he's joining the Gung-ho Guns, so y'know, oof, he's now in direct opposition to our heroes, supposed to make you nervous and all. Anyway he and Chapel show up every now and then to just be... y'know... annoying. Try and kill him a lil y'know... that sort of thing.

It's these fucked up family reunions that we love ya know. This is totally me at Christmas.

Anyway this time was rlly funny because Elendira rlly said "you three are so annoying pls leave your drama at the door"

And they DID hahaha. I don't blame them, she's scawy.

Anyway what I think I like most about Livio is how like... y'know, sweet he is. He's kinda like Wolfwood in that he's a total sweetheart at his core but life just hasn't let him be sweet, ya know?

When Jasmine was in trouble, baby Wolfwood didn't even hesitate to run out and save her.

And Livio was the same, you know? And after The Couch, Livio even says, he wants to live his life like Wolfwood so like, we've got these two dudes with near identical journeys.

From orphans, to initiates, to assassins, to good guy with a gun lmfao. Despite what Livio does, it's really hard to ever hate him, and Razlo, too is extremely sympathetic...

Like he's got his own motivations and shit he's working through, man.

Anyway I really love during the Elendira fight when hes like, struggling to beat her, how Razlo gives Livio his own sort of hype man experience like the manga flashes back to how hard Livio worked to keep up with Razlo and the Eye, and Razlo is like hyping him up the whole time. It's really nice and wholesome :)

Anyway his journey from emo cult man to himbo cowboy was fantastic and I love Livio so much, he's a sweetheart.

And I loved his appearance at the end of the manga, like, showing he was looking after the orphanage and stuff.

And also this whole scene where he and Vash ate together made me cry.

Mgs1 is def Liquid he. He's so overdramatic it's really funny. He did so many backflips while explaining his tragic backstory 🥰 and then he just fucking died and turned into an arm which is the real tragedy (I have so many random HCs for him it's insane... I also rewrote his backstory a little...the recessive thing is so dumb)

Mgs2 I think it's a split between Raiden and Fortune. Raiden I really enjoyed playing as a character who is just... idk how to put it I just like that he's flawed and not some morally perfect charismatic guy. It feels like he's set up to be that way and then he whines about everything and is very dismissive at some points. It feels like he's a real person and not perfectly crafted to be the ultimate stereotypical good guy protagonist who can stay cool and collected in every situation. He has his moments where he lets emotion get the better of him and I like it a lot.

Fortune I have less to say about her but it doesn't mean I like her less. I think she's a really tragic character backstory wise but I also like how she sort of "plays into it" I guess? Ocelot points it out himself near the end of the game ("you couldn't get enough of the drama"). I thought the ending where she found out she could've died any time and she didn't have some magic ability was sad too and I lowkey wish she didn't die and was like redeemed somehow (imagine she comes back in mgs4 and has to go against Vamp or something that would've been so cool)..anyway I guess I didn't actually have less to say I like Fortune a lot blehhh😋

mgs3 AGH.. EVA ILY she is such a well written character and I love her so much I could write an essay on her if I wanted but I'll keep it more brief here. She's like a perfect subversion of the typical sexualized woman in video game thing...it's what she's doing as a spy for the mission and the best part is it doesn't even really work lol nice job snake. The game itself even adheres to whether Eva is in her Eva persona or her Tatyana one. It's....aghhhhghhh so great. (I have so many thoughts about her and Liquid btw)

Mgs4...difficult but probably Screaming Mantis. For real this time not a lot to say about her but I do like her a lot more since playing the game she went from my least fav B&B unit member to my fav one. She was really fun to watch in all her cutscenes and her boss fight was one of the best MGS boss fights I've ever done tbh. The callbacks and references to the first game were so good I won't lie I was giggling kicking my feet a lil bit. Screaming Mantis ily I have so many thoughts <333

Peace Walker ermmm Kaz and Paz equal I can't decide..also maybe Amanda. Yeah I like everyone a lot 😭 and Cécile....not Snake tho sorry lol. I haven't finished the game so I haven't gotten the full character arcs of everyone so it's hard to pinpoint exact explanations but you know I love Kaz forever and ever mwah mwah (I'm also a transfem Kaz truther and I'm RIGHT!!!). Amanda has a lot of really cool tapes explaining a lot of...not really exposition but it gives a lot of great context to her character. And her voice acting especially in cutscenes is some of the best voice acting I've seen in an mgs game so it adds a lot. Paz I need to learn more about her. I know basic plot points but not the inbetween stuff that really lets you get to know her. I do feel really sad for her though, Kojima decided he wanted shock value instead of a female character having a nice ending 🤷‍♀️ Sucks.

Mgsv QUIET!!!! QUIET ILY!!! she's soooooo OUGH. I'm glad a lot of the fandom has fixed her from her extremely flawed portrayal in the game because it shows what really could've been and I think I latch more onto that than the version of her in the game just a little. The foundation they were working with was still really good. The way they show her and venom building such a strong bond despite never having a single conversation is really well done and I like it a lot. OUGH okay i will. put all of that under the cut bc i'm definitely going to talk about big spoilers AND IT'S GONNA BE LENGTHY BECAUSE I HAVE SO MANY THOUGHTS. SV may be a mess in some aspects but the story is the best it's been in many gens, if not the best story in any Pokémon game

i gotta talk about the two elephants in the room first; RIKA AND ARVEN.

For Rika; She's giving me gender envy bc like. god i wish that were me. But also I want to marry her because oh my god I love her and her design so much GAMEFREAK WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME. Why do they always keep getting away with this shit EVERY GOD DAMN GEN that there's a character I end up being down bad for LOL... She's so chill!! But she's also so nice!!! And I'm ough. I really hope any future DLC will give her more screentime or at LEAST let me rematch her because why the fuck can i not fight the E4 again!!! sir!!! lemme see her!!!!!!!!!

Arven.............. he is my son now. That whole last stretch of the story in area zero really REALLY solidified him as my favourite of the main cast because man he's been through a lot and this guy can't catch a fucking break!!! Had to go years without seeing his parents only to find out that the one parent he remembers and saw only very occasionally as a kid died years prior to the game's events protecting the mirai/koraidon you've been traveling with all this time. And the whole thing about Mabosstiff!!! The titan questline had me tearing up on several occasions. im AUGh.... I'm so SO weak for characters like this who appear a bit standoffish at first but then open up to the player and they're just beans that have gone through a lot and are trying to help. And his own resolution to become a chef with the knowledge he now holds over the herba mystica to help others felt like the most logical course of action for him to take so i'm glad he found what he wants to strive for next!! anyways sorry not sorry if i end up drawing him a lot LMAO he lives in my brain rent free. son boy allowed

Then there's Nemona!!! She's so fucking head empty no thoughts and I love her. And if there's something in that head of hers it's just a brick with the only thought being violence and battle. And you know what? good for her! good for her. She's really funny and probably one of the most fun rivals we've had in recent history for pokemon. I like that she's not just super talented either, she literally explains to the trainer when you talk to her in postgame that she had to work hard to even get to this point. She really feels like a mirror to the player but she just took her journey of becoming a champion a year or two earlier than the player did. But also wow same lady ur just like me fr fr

Penny!! she's just a bean that cares for her friends!!! And the team Star story stuff really felt nicely done. Trying to help her friends that were painted as bullies because of a misunderstanding and mismanagement at the school while the team Star members aren't bad people at all. I also absolutely love her sass when traveling with her in Area Zero (and subsequently the dynamic between Penny, Nemona and Arven as a whole, they're best friends now your honor)

AND ALSO CAN I TALK ABOUT HER BATTLE THEME FOR A SECOND BECAUSE ?????????????????????

THEY PUT HARDCORE/HARDSTYLE IN MY POKEMON GAME

I genuinely was not expecting that but hearing the hardbass i was like wtf holy shit they went OFF with this track!!! The track is an absolute banger too but definitely felt unexpected for a character like Penny. Good for her though!! She's got one of the best themes in the game and im jamming

And then Turo! I played Violet but I'm aware that the same thing happens with Sada in Scarlet so it's easy to just replace names. Man... I could talk about this part of the story all fucking day. The professor is probably one of the most interesting "villains" in Pokémon as a whole and I'm SO GLAD that the series finally went down this route, because they absolutely nailed the story telling with this. Area Zero blew me out of the fucking water and was so unexpected!!! This whole segment has "REJUVENATION" written all over it!!! I was literally WAITING for Jan to get to this segment after completing the game, only for him to say the same exact shit LOL. I was not expecting this from a main series Pokémon game at ALL and frankly I'm so glad it did because this whole story segment with made Violet easily one of my favourite pokemon games in the series.

AI Turo stimulating the player from the background to find the herba mystica with arven and them becoming stronger but not really wanting to talk to Arven because-- just like his original counterpart-- he's too focused on the goal of the mission to care for the son of his original counterpart (though him being an AI also might hinder processing emotional attachment even MORE than the original Turo already had problems with). The reason why Turo hasn't visited Arven in years being that the original is dead and AI Turo literally cannot leave the crater due to him needing the power of the Tera crystals to stay functional. AI Turo, despite being the same in almost every possible way, realizing and coming to agree that there's no logic in the original Turo's decision to want to introduce future Pokémon into the ecosystem KNOWING that it'd destroy the old one, making him a better person than the original was-- and painting the original Turo as the villain in this situation due to that his obsession with the future as written in the Violet book drove him to ignore how wrong he was for what he was trying to do, even after death. AI Turo knowing that he himself is part of the security system and needs to be fought in order to put a stop to the time machine, hence why he stimulated the player to keep training and taking care of Miraidon. AI Turo realizing that he needed to go in order to put a total stop to the time machine because his very existence is keeping it active. He says "I want to see the future" and leaves the present day in order to stop the time machine, but there's some deeper implications here; in practice this is AI Turo taking a massive risk by sacrificing himself to save Paldea because on the chance he ends up outside of the crater, he'll cease functioning and will practically die. And you know? The revelation that he's an AI powered robot actually makes total sense if you paid attention to his animations and speech mannerisms; he's the only character that doesn't have a breathing animation (it's not even there in the first video transmission you see of him! and it's the same for Sada in Scarlet) and is constantly identifying the player & friends through student ID's and biometrics rather than acknowledging them as actual people. BUT ALSO THAT BATTLE WAS SO FUCKING COOL!! Genuinely challenging too since you had to figure out his mons' typings on the fly, AND HE'S GOT A BANGER BATTLE THEME. Toby Fox you've done it again you madman

honorable mention goes to Clavell and Grusha, the former because Clavell is fucking funny as hell and I'm so glad he ended up being more involved in the story than I expected. Sir you're a little behind with the times AND YOU ASKED ME WHAT CHEUGY MEANS WHICH KILLED ME but you're all the funnier for it. thank you. Grusha gets the mention because he caught me off guard by having the highest leveled gym team out of any of the gym leaders with having mons at level 47 while I strolled up with my mid-30's team and got my ass blasted. thank you sir. i will now never make the mistake of thinking you're a lower tier gym leader just because TPC advertised you early. good god

All that being said, I could go on about every other character but these really were the ones that stuck out the most in my mind. i have so many thoughts about this game and i swear the brainrot's going to be around for a LONG ASS TIME
