Fallout 4 VR on HTC Vive @ Overclockers UK HQ

Time to spend the day at @Overclockers UK headquarters and chill-out on the @HTC VIVE with some game-play on Fallout 4 VR from @Bethesda Softworks! As a digital artist it's great to just kick back and play in the type of games that I'd love to work on. Virtual Reality is a great environment that I'm exploring at the moment for artists such as ourselves to create from withing but part of that exploration has to also be seeing it from the players perspective! Today was totally amazing and getting to spend it with the HTC VIVE team and other influencers and the Overclockers UK team gave me some amazing insights!!! I want to hear what you folks think too! Несмотря на заверения представителей AMD, острый дефицит не миновал новые видеокарты Radeon RX 6800 и 6800 XT. Вышедшие на прошлой неделе эталонные модели разлетелись в считанные минуты, а дебютировавшие на днях собственные версии партнёров AMD пропали с прилавков магазинов ещё быстрее. Ниже мы разберём ситуацию подробнее, а также приведём комментарии зарубежных и отечественных ретейлеров.

Ещё до старта продаж Radeon RX 6000 представители AMD хвастались, что этот запуск не будет «бумажным», и компания неплохо подготовилась к удовлетворению спроса. И технически видеокарты действительно поступили в магазины, но полноценным стартом продаж назвать это сложно. Выпущенные на прилавки 18 октября видеокарты в эталонным исполнении были раскуплены почти сразу, и ситуация не стала лучше и спустя неделю, когда партнёры AMD получили возможность продавать версии Radeon RX 6800 и 6800 XT собственного дизайна.

Более того, неэталонных карт в продажу поступило ещё меньше. Многие магазины по всему миру даже сообщали, что не получили вообще ни одной нестандартной видеокарты Radeon RX 6800 или RX 6800 XT, и что ещё хуже, они даже не знают, когда начнутся хоть какие-то поставки. В конечном итоге оказалось, что нереференсные Radeon RX 6800-й серии вообще не добрались до многих стран. В их число, в частности, попала и Россия.

Справедливости ради стоит отметить, что эталонные версии Radeon RX 6800 или RX 6800 XT в отечественной рознице всё-таки побывали. 24 ноября такими видеокартами торговала федеральная сеть DNS.

Но, естественно, карты были раскуплены моментально. Магазин сообщает, что получил в разы больше заказов, чем у него имелось видеокарт. Например, за две минуты присутствия на сайте на Sapphire Radeon RX 6800 XT было оформлено порядка 250 заказов, а на самый дешёвый вариант Radeon RX 6800 XT единовременно было получено более 200 заказов. На данный момент приём заказов на все видеокарты AMD Radeon RX 6000-й серии полностью прекращён, и в течение последующих недель магазин будет пытаться выполнить все размещённые заказы.

Ситуация усугубляется тем, что у магазина сейчас нет никакой информации о новых поставках видеокарт Radeon RX 6800-й серии. Отмечается, что неэталонные модели в малых количествах мелькают в каналах поставок, но в открытую продажу они не поступят — их направят на покрытие заказов на эталонные модели.

Тем временем некоторые российские покупатели уже получили свои новенькие видеокарты. Об этом пишут сами пользователи как на сайте DNS Club, так и в том числе на Reddit.

Конечно же, в такой ситуации не обошлось и без спекулянтов. На площадке «Авито» можно найти довольно много объявлений о продаже видеокарт Radeon RX 6800 и RX 6800 XT, тех самых, которые несколькими днями ранее продавались в DNS. Что удивительно, не все предложения отличаются задранными ценниками — Radeon RX 6800 XT можно найти от 74 тыс. рублей.

Сейчас сложно сказать, когда именно нормализуется ситуация. В Сети ходят слухи, что случится это не раньше лета будущего года. Представители DNS говорят более осторожно — там не ждут нормализации поставок до начала второго квартала будущего года, то есть до апреля, а что будет потом — неизвестно.

Стоит отметить, что невозможность купить видеокарту Radeon RX 6800 или RX 6800 XT — отнюдь не российская проблема. От недопоставок страдают покупатели по всему миру.

Например, европейский магазин Proshop заявил, что ему поступило всего девять неэталонных видеокарт Radeon RX 6800 XT и тринадцать Radeon RX 6800. Все они от компании ASUS. При этом покупатели заказали в разы больше видеокарт, но, когда эти заказы получится выполнить, непонятно. Британские магазины Scan и OverclockersUK решили вообще не принимать заказы на неэталонные версии видеокарт Radeon RX 6800-й серии, потому что они не получили эти видеокарты. О сроках появления в продаже тоже не сообщается ничего конкретного — «может быть на следующей неделе», но это не точно. Эталонных моделей в наличии здесь тоже нет.

В Северной Америке ситуация не лучше. Видеокарт как в эталонном, так и в нестандартном исполнении нет нигде. Некоторые продавцы заблокировали возможность заказа, чтобы обеспечить видеокартами сначала тех покупателей, которые уже оформили покупки.

Get Death Stranding for free when you buy one of these Nvidia RTX graphics cards!

It's been out for a while on the PlayStation 5 now, but we're still patiently - or maybe not so patiently - awaiting the Death Stranding PC release date. Ever since its original ominous teaser trailers, Kojima's enigmatic game has been the subject of much awe and reverence. And with this PC release date looming - July 14, 2020, if you didn't already know - Nvidia is now offering it up for free with the purchase of one of its qualifying graphics cards.

Today, Nvidia announced that select GeForce RTX 20-series graphics cards will ship with a copy of Death Stranding. These bundle deals will be available from now until July 29, meaning you have until the end of the month to snap one of them up.

Qualifying retailers include Ebuyer, OverclockersUK, PCSpecialist, and Scan, amongst others. The full list of retailers and qualifying Nvidia GeForce RTX graphics cards can be found on Nvidia’s Death Stranding bundle page. There are plenty of graphics cards eligible here, from the GeForce RTX 2060 Super all the way up to the RTX 2080 Ti.

Overclockers UK Opens Pre-orders for the Full HTC Vive Pro Kit

Back in April to mark the Vive Day celebrations HTC began shipping pre-orders of its new HTC Vive Pro headset as well as announcing a Starter Pack. Later that month saw the rollout of the Vive Pro 2.0 Kit specifically built for commercial users. Only available in the UK via the HTC Vive online store, PC retailer OverclockersUK has announced its now taking pre-orders for the kit.

The full Vive Pro Kit retails for £1,299 GBP on the Overclockers UK website – the same as it is everywhere – coming supplied with the new Vive Pro HMD, the updated SteamVR 2.0 compatible base stations for a total play area of 10m x 10m (32 feet x 32 feet), and the new Vive controllers which are wrapped in the same blue as the headset.

As mentioned the Vive Pro 2.0 kit is designed more towards commercial applications like location-based entertainment (LBE) rather than home use. While the new Lighthouse base stations help to triple the play area users can also add up to 4 base stations for wide-area tracking avoiding occlusion, ideal for multi-user environments, thanks to the SteamVR 2.0 technology.

The Vive Pro headset has seen significant improvements as it now features dual-OLED displays -1440 x 1600 pixels per eye – for a total of 2880 x 1600 pixels to make the visuals look even better – check out VRFocus’ preview of Archiact’s Evasion as a good example. Featuring improved weight distribution and a 24 percent increase in face gasket surface area, Vive Pro is now more ergonomic thanks to the Deluxe Audio Headstrap begin built-in.

  The headset will also support the upcoming Vive Wireless adapter when the device launches.
