5. What’s a tag you never want to use for your works even when it applies?

Hmm. I'm not sure there's anything that falls under this, since due to my paranoia I'm a chronic overtagger-for-safety. But I think in Twilight fandom in general it can be tough to decide whether some tags even apply or not—does a canon-compliant story count as "adoptive sibling incest?" Does edbella need "age gap"? How about carlesme or jalice? (I would tend to err on the side of "no," but I can easily imagine a scenario where that enrages someone.)

And it's a warning, but it can be so tricky to figure out if/when "Major Character Death" applies when the major characters of canon aren't necessarily major characters in the fic and vice-versa.

11. Three tropes that are fine but overrated.

Already answered here, so instead I'll do three tropes I think are underrated.

#1 is arranged marriage/marriage of convenience. I know it gets plenty of love I just don't think it can be rated highly enough

#2 is exes-to-lovers, or just like second chances in general. I think there are specific ships and fandoms that do this really well, but I wish it was more popular in general because it's such an interesting writing challenge and inevitably yields cool results.

#3 I've seen posts on here lamenting that Sense8 AU fusions never caught on and I agree. Make everyone platonic group-soulmates with freaky involuntary psychic bonds!!

39. Wildest AU scenario you have written?

idk I think everything I've written is pretty tame, at least in this fandom. In a previous fandom I wrote a modern AU where one character was a cat. Not like he was turned into a cat, he was simply a regular cat from the start and the main human character had a cat instead of his canonical human best friend. I realized belatedly that this was me trying to isolate said main character and force him to confide in a different friend instead—in canon she's more like his gf's friend, but I like their dynamic and the way she challenges him, so I wanted more of that instead of main character + enabler canon bestie. but neither could I bear to erase Enabler Canon Bestie entirely, so: cat. anyway the fic was a very standard romcom; not wild at all

also once in Orphan Black fandom I wrote this ridiculous AU from the pov of the angel who is supposed to take Cosima's soul to heaven but keeps getting thwarted by her freaky psychic niece at every turn. it was extremely silly

I usually have the megacrossovers filtered out, but everyone in the dc/batfam fandom overtags for no good reason and it has been driving me crazy for months. problem solved!

Hi nonnie! Thank you for worrying and sending this information to me. I’m answering it like this because for one, I don’t want to get them views and for two, I don’t want anyone to go fight or anything with them on my behalf. Cas has talked to them for me, and that’s it. 

cw: long answer about the tiktok thing. 

I’m not on tiktok and the only access I have on it is when someone send me those links so I can check it out, but without seeing comments, likes and such. 

My friends (Cas <3 and then Cait <3) also found it and told me! And Cas talked to them in my behalf about taking it down since they seem to be a minor (no age in bio) and never asked me about it. Doesn’t seem like they’ll take it down though, but they wont be reccing me going foward. I also added a whole “rules” thing in my AO3, in hopes others finding my works will not take or rec them in other platforms without asking for permission. 

To be fair, I’d never thought I’d have to worry about this so it threw me into a loop IAIJSAIJASIAJSJ I’ve seen my friends having this problem but I’d never truly stopped completely to take in the arguments and then build a solid opinion on the subject. As of now, for me and in this specific situation, I think the problem comes from two fronts: the minor issue, as it seems OP is a minor doing NSFW recs and the not asking permission issue.

The minor issue is... pretty clear and we have discussed that extensively already. I write explicit works. I’m a adult. While I cannot stop minors for reading my work, I don’t want them to interact with me or my works and not rec-ing me in their tiktok platform is a big example of the interaction I do not want.

The second issue about not asking for permission is that they didn’t cared enough about my work to actually ask my opinion before rec-ing it. I suspect the lack of consultation may be because they’re a minor and my answer would be clear, so they just rolled with it. 

Being honest, I don’t think I would mind a rec from a adult this much and if THE ADULT asked for my permission before. The previous consult of my opinion in being or not rec-ed in another platform is the point I’m not willing to bulge because it’s 1) the only way I’d know I’m being rec-ed at all; 2) my opportunity to check OP and then choose if I’d like their recommendation; 3) my choice dammit, it’s my work IAJSIAHSAHS

New Voltron Idea Prompt.

This is a Musical Langst idea.

This prompt belongs to me. Any usage of it must be gained with permission and then proper credits to me.

Lance finds a space radio station. And becomes a part of it. Hes a minor dj that searches for new artists through a version of space youtube, space music apps, space entertainment channels, and even space news articles regarding all of that. Hes even made his own page on one of them for making songs, and sharing them. Without a face reveal. But he has a character thing with a special design. He even has some cery minor merch when he gets more popular. Which is fairly so. Because he Djs and makes music. But hes most well loved because he makes people wanna listen to music more and also make music more now than ever during the war. Hes somehow created more allies than much of team Voltron has. And has also captured the hearts of many who are already allies, who believe they recognize his voice. He had a private server thing. where he talks about his songs, artists he likes, interviews, a merch and podcast station, and stuff like this. -> the planet they visit is actually made up of very many people that Lance had helped through his contributions to the radio station.

My very specific version of this story has Lance as Bisexual/Demi-Sexual. Panromantic. Freckles with curly hair that he straightens and covers with makeup. He has Narcolepsy, ADHD, generalized Anxiety disorder (like hunk) might be autistic. And other things. He was captured by the Galra at one point: leaving him with an Altean tech prosthetic leg, above the knee, and a blind eye. But he has amnesia from the whole event. And not a single memory, even still. Lance is also Multilingual, an empath, sorta. Like it’s not specified as a super power. But it might as well be. He’s actually super intelligent. But likes that he can be a different version of himself that doesn’t take away from the talents that the others also have like tech, fighting, and cooking. Lance still has doubts. But he’s better. Him and Allura are best friends, he’s closer with Pidge and even Hunk than ever before. This contains Shiro X Allura. (I know that he’s gay, but we can make him Bi- shh) eventual Klance, Pining Keith, Happy-with-any-sort-of-relationship with-Keith Lance, and so much more I have to say.

I’m super excited for when I’ll be able to post this. I don’t know how long it will be yet. But it’s definitely gonna be a book. Title ideas would be much appreciated. And once again, let me know either here or private message me if you wanna use a version of this prompt. I’ll be sharing soon how it should look and be set up if you do use it.

This is a prime example of over tagging. (It was just a clip of Chris Evans tripping!) Don’t be like this person. Instagram is full of overtaggers as is Tumblr. They even tagged Sam Wilson? Sam’s tag is overrun with annoying spammers like this.

Omfg that absurd clusterfuck untamed fic by virtual1979 needs to be STOPPED. Can nobody at ao3 do anything about them

Like obviously they are a fucking troll, but they also appear to be edgecasing the rules exactly while finding the most annoying ways to break AO3 for the maximum number of users, especially on mobile. I wish there was a search results setting that would simply truncate the search results over a certain character count. Like it could have the top twenty (heck, fifty) tags and then “and [number] additional tags”. Then there could be a link to the fic’s full metadata. I believe the summary already has a character limit? I think that this would be very helpful for a lot of things, not just this horrible bullshit instance, because there are tons of overtaggers out there, especially for large multichaps that are actually compilations or bingo challenges and whatnot. As tagging becomes more expected this will become more common and it would be amazing if I could just... lighten the loaded content of a search results page.
