So I'm not usually the type to do a fic preview? But my writer's block has been fucking atrocious and I could use the support, so here is the prologue to the thing I'm working on, which is a post-canon OX Blades story about getting the band back together to face a great evil. Is the evil maintaining adult friendships? Who can say.

Not all good endings are happy, and not all happy endings are good. 

The camera pans out on the Hobbyhorses and their entourage leaving the desert, the Barricade gone, magic leaching back into the world. Within the hour, Eleanor will try her teleport spell for the second time, and they will be gone.

The camera tracks away from the mountains, drifts like these things always do, ceases to be, because the story is over. The attention of the storyteller is no longer relevant to the world he created.

But let us stay instead, hovering over the mountain, the compound, the Barricade. Among the dead are Roth, various Red Sashes, and the silent, inanimate mechanical men. Among the living are the scientists, the other Red Sashes, and maybe Kellie Dimmer, whose fate is unrecorded.

The living muster their forces, figure out how to retrofit one of the train carriages, leave for Volisport never to return. The dead just kind of sit there.

And Amadeus Astor-

Eight people received the heaviest dose of magical energy that any being has ever received in the history of Geth. Six of them teleported away, one of them took her shot, and Amadeus Astor-

Amadeus Astor.

Amadeus Astor certainly doesn't not die, it's not that kind of thing. But despite the fact that Astor is not alive does not in this case quite mean that he is one hundred percent dead. Instead he is in a state of horrid life-unlife in the middle of the desert with little around him but the mortal remains of a few Red Sashes and his man Roth.

In the time in which he is not dead, he sees the strangest visions of a world that could never be, never was, and will be again. He feels come over him a force that literally no one has felt in 500 years. He ruminates on his loss and the nature of what he would have needed in order to be whole.

And then he really does die.

Seven years pass.

And then Amadeus Astor becomes a problem.

What is a reverse bang?

In a reverse challenge, a number of artists create artwork for a given fandom. Those pieces are offered as prompts to authors, who write a story based on the art. A big bang is a writing challenge that takes place over a number of months and is intended to produce longfic. Therefore, a reverse bang is both of those things.

What are the requirements?

An artist must submit at least one fully completed piece of artwork. More details are available on the artist rules post. The minimum wordcount for authors is 10,000 words (the author rules post is forthcoming). For this round, in order to ensure match ups, art and stories must primarily feature Oxventure D&D, Oxventure Deadlands, and/or Oxventure Blades in the Dark, but AUs and crossovers with other Oxventure games are acceptable.

Ooo what's Night and Morning about?

"Night and Morning" is a Katie/Liliana fic. A tryst between the two women, wherein Liliana lets Katie take the lead. The thief queen takes this opportunity to introduce the sorceress to some interesting new rope tricks.

The name "Night and Morning" comes from the song by Alina Baraz with Liliana being the night and Katie being the morning from the title.

This is my take on Oxventure Bladerunner Margot Worth. This piece is actually inspired by a fanfic of the one shot, so I'm two steps removed, but the image of Margot taking 3am walks and smoking wouldn't leave my brain.

The fic is called “the whole world hinges on your swings” by @stickthisbig. It's very much explicit and 18+, but it's gorgeously written and the mood is just brilliant.

Egbert has been a bit light on the actual paladin moves until Staff Wars, but I am honestly delighted in how he takes his religion seriously, not lighting sparklers or giving bro fists to cast Bless. I’ve always thought his character was earnest in his convictions and beliefs, which we definitely saw come out during Legacy of Dragons, and I’m glad we continue to see more depth to the Oxventurers that just make them that much more enjoyable.
