My mental decline, as illustrated in Perforce. Fuck Perforce wHY IS PERFORCE INDUSTRY STANDARD???
For those who don’t know: Perforce or p4v is an application that allows people to check out files from a drive remotely and work on it from another drive so that multiple people can work on different aspects of one big project at the same time from different locations. Like submitting files to a shared folder in Google Drive, but without Google as the middle man. Of course, shit don’t always work right.
Above is my revision history of my project that has to be submitted after my Unreal Engine (game engine) files didn’t save right and fucking disappeared. Thankfully, my un-converted Autodesk Maya (3D modeling software) modkit (set of assets to build a level in a game engine) file was still there but holy shit if that didn’t save my work I was going to jump off a bridge.

According to the article from People's Daily Online- "the revenue of six companies exceeds 10 billion, and the game industry will enter a period of rapid growth in 2020", it is mentioned that "the previously released《China's Game Industry Report》shows that the revenue of China's game market will be 278.687 billion RMB in 2020, a year-on-year increase of 20.71%. Compared with 2019 (a year-on-year increase of 7.66%), the growth rate has accelerated significantly. As reflected in the annual report, six game companies have revenues of more than 10 billion. Among them, Tencent and Netease continue to occupy more than 50% of the market share of China's game market.”

As Share Creators, which is deeply engaged in the global game industry, 2020 will be a difficult year due to the impact of the epidemic, but our company continues to grow in adversity. Our team size has doubled. In addition to the original office in San Francisco (art production and core program R & D), we also have two new offices in Chengdu (PM and internal translation) and Beijing (program R & D) now. We have participated in the production of all five games among the top five games by revenue from overseas mobile games in China, and we have developed three of them through long-term in-depth cooperation, such as all the core characters of Rise of Kingdoms, etc. Moreover, we helped several top 10 games, such as AFK Arena, improve the conversion rate (increase 11% on average). We also cooperate with Diablo, LOL, Call of Duty, Destiny 2, and so on. In the next year, we will continue to work hard to improve the conversion rate and retention rate of overseas games and help more games get more players' love. And at the same time, our company's self-developed ERP enterprise management system has also been launched in many game companies, it helps reduce research and development costs and assists more efficient and convenient management work (mainly used for game resource management).
 The whole game industry has developed rapidly, but with the rapid development of the domestic game industry, it is relatively delayed and sometimes even backward at the management level, such as game resource management, sharing, search, and so on. Here is specifically describe the pain points of the example.
Pain points of resource management in the game industry:
1. The R&D resources of the entire company are not centrally managed, which makes it difficult to search for resources. The historical information could not be found after the personnel change, and it was very difficult to find files from several months ago. And it is impossible to know which version is the right version after a period of version iteration resources. If the local PC storage is broken, the files are permanently lost.      
2. There is no channel between teams to share previously completed game resources. Even among the same team, resource sharing is based on traditional chat tools for file transfer. This is very inconvenient for large 3D files and version control. For example, the frequently shared material library, model library, etc., don’t have a central storage space to achieve efficient resource reuse, save time, and cost.
3. It is inconvenient to review 2D animation, 3D projects files. Every staff needs to remember the corresponding file content, and it wastes a lot of time to open and examine the files one by one. The reply also must take screenshots one by one, which is very inconvenient.
4. The interfaces of NXN, P4V, and FTP are very similar, and there is no interface interaction basically, which is very old. For example, after a file is stored, the storage path can only be manually remembered, because there is no search function. In addition, if you want to rename the file, you need to download the file, rename it, and upload it again, and then delete the file with the original name. It’s very inconvenient.
5. The information that needs to be monitored in real-time every day is: how many tasks are there, whether they are completed, whether the production resources are passed, and which ones need to be iterated.
6. Whether it is project resource version management, design material management, outsourcing management, payment finance, and project R & D progress, it cannot be completed without the assistance of software automation. Especially after the team has reached more than one hundred people.
Here is the data about the return on investment (ROI) for the resource management tools investment:
l  After using resource management tools, the ROI of each company ranges from 38% to over 600% to improve access to information, and it depends on whether the new ECM system is an upgrade to the existing system or replaces the previous manual process new system (International Data Center).
l  ARC's financial analysis of enterprise resource management implementation projects illustrates that the net present value within 5 years is 185,000 dollars, and the internal rate of return is 15%.
l  IDC research shows that optimizing and upgrading the search and retrieval systems of 4,000 engineers at Fortune 500 companies would essentially pay for itself in one month, with $2 million worth of productivity gains per month thereafter.
 About the problems we mentioned before, how do we solve these problems?
The core functions of game R&D resource management:
storage, search, and helping to quickly manage the company's multi-product files:
when the company has more than 100 employers When the company reaches several hundred members, there will be more difficult, such as it’s hard to cooperate and share the information, high repetition of resource production, can’t search the file due to too many files, lost documents after personnel changes, and after file iteration, people don’t know which is the latest file. However, We solved this problem now. 1.  The combination of Artificial Intelligence Automatic Tag + Manual Tag.
a. The search for the picture is more accurate: integrated artificial intelligence image recognition will automatically add corresponding tags to pictures for easy search. And people can import tags according to the company's organizational structure, such as game team 1, game team 2, and so on. The pictures will be stored in the corresponding folders are automatically tagged with the corresponding teams. As a leader, you can simply search it and check the progress of each team.
b. The text information in the picture can also be directly recognized and searched. For example, in 3D technical information in the screenshot, you can find the corresponding image resource by directly searching the text. You can look at the demo, this invoice is a picture, and you can search the invoice directly to find the corresponding file picture, such as many technical documents on the art department can be found by searching directly.
c. Video information recognition: you can directly analyze what is inside the video, such as how many people are inside, how they move, and the background data that will be stored. This can also be used to analyze the player's gaming habits.
d. URL content search: stored websites, such as YouTube video, technology introduction websites, they can be saved by just paste URL link. And unlike saving tags, you can search the content of web pages. Also, there is no need to remember the name of the tag or the name of the article.
 2. The local storage folder is automatically synced to the cloud: just store the daily folder in this folder, and the file will be automatically synchronized to the cloud of the company system.
 3. File version control is visible: due to the seamless docking with project management tools, all historical versions are visible. Corresponding documents can be found at any time for personnel changes, team reorganization, and multi-project cooperation. You can upload, download, and modify the file name in large quantities at any time, which is convenient and easy to use. (Solved the inconvenient use of P4V).
4. Permission control: the permission list is always controllable. Controls whether files and folders are visible and can be modified or deleted. The outsourcers are only able to see their products.
5. The reference of Chrome plug-in, automatically retrieve, store, and share webpage picture: having trouble storing good pictures? Only to this machine after storage? Sharing is very slow to be transmitted through real-time communication tools and cannot be managed after transmission? Our software can do automatic storage, batch import, and cloud automatic team sharing.
6. Team folders and private folders: people can share technical documents, design materials, and design documents with each project team and colleagues anytime and anywhere. The epidemic does not affect work efficiency in this situation.

Atlus: I told the Dancing Games that they were already reserved to get good endings so they didn’t have to come. I guess P1 just decided to not come. Oh well, I guess we can forget about them now.
P5V: P4G, where’s P4V?
P4G: I DIDN’T DO ANYTHING TO THEM THEY ARE ALIVE AND WELL! *Sweats nervously*
P5V, now suspicious of P4G: U-uh, ok then.
Atlus: By the way, we found P4V dead last week.
*Everyone looks at P4G for a few minutes and says nothing while staring at them*
P4G: What? I wanted to make sure I had cannon status!
P4AU: You already HAD canon status!
P4G: Not according to the first half of your game! (P4A)

P3P: Any-anyways, we need to decide who’s getting these good endings! How many are there?
P5S: How many games are we dealing with here lol?
Atlus: Well we have 15 games total, (forgot about P1 already,) and 1 of them is dead and the other 3 already are dealt with so that leaves 11 games and 6 good endings not including the reserved ones.
P4AU: I KNOW I’M A SPIN OFF BUT I’M A SPIN OFF OF P4 AND P4G SO I THINK I SHOULD GET A GOOD ENDING!  
Atlus: Fair point, here ya go. *hands a good ending to P4G and P4AU*.
P3:TJ: I don’t want one.
Atlus: Your protagonist technically physically died so you weren’t getting one anyways.
P3:TA: Wait, then I shouldn't get one either!
*Atlus throws a good ending at P3:TA*
Atlus: Oh by the way, before I forget to mention again, P5S already knows this but @Person8789 doesn't know the ending to Scramble so they won’t be included in this, they’re just here to watch.
P3P: We have a girl protag so we should get a good ending!
P5S, in the background: Why does that matter?
P2:EP: We have a girl protag that LIVES.
*P3P’s jaw drops and is in complete silence*
P2:IS, looking at P2:EP in confusion: But TATSUYA.
Atlus: P2:IS, you aren’t getting one, Maya died in your game.

Atlus: P3P, you’re in the same situation as P3:TJ, so you aren’t getting one either, also P2:EP makes a good point.
P3P: ok...
*Atlus hands a good ending to P2:EP*
P2:EP, in a cocky manner: Tatsuya isn’t technically dead.
Atlus: Ok, you four, there are two good endings left. Who do you guys think should get a good ending? I may or may not listen.
PQ: I mean, we have a pretty happy most-of-the-game, but one of our main, lovable, characters was dead for literally the ENTIRE game and the the Reaper follows you around the last dungon, making it really REALLY hard to navigate.
*Atlus starts violently nodding their head with wide, freaked out eyes (because of the Reaper thing,) and throws a good ending at PQ2*
PQ2: Than-Thank you Atlus! I’m sorry PQ...
P5V: P5R IS MORE TRAGIC THAN US! AND WE DON’T HAVE TO DEAL WITH NOT-NAGITO HUMAN MORGANA! WE SHOULD GET THE GOOD ENDING!
P5R: Wha-!? But Akechi lives in ours! And we have exactly one more food meme than you!
*Atlus thinks for a momment*

P5V, jumping for joy: HA!
Atlus: I hope you understand, P5R, you ARE more tragic than P5V cause of the stuff we added to you! Also, that Morgana thing dosen’t work in your favor... and neither does the food meme... but hey I have some things for you! Maybe they’ll eventually help you to feel better!

One of my favourite weekends of the year and I don’t think that will ever change. When I was in high school, the autumnal months and this weekend were the ones I looked forward to the most. I’ve been lucky enough to go back since and every time I end up hissing and screaming and laughing and having conversations with current participants. It was one of my favourite days standing on the Founders’ stage, doing our show and it never stressful. It was exciting and it was more of a celebration than anything. Kevin always said there should be a version of Festival in every school in the nation and it’s a thought I’ve always agreed. I’ve tried doing NaNoWriMo while being a Festival participant and I’ve gone to Festival as an audience member jet lagged from coming back from Italy. Festival made both of those things disappear. NaNo drifted and I’ve never felt so alive while jet lagged as I did when I was there. When Festival didn’t happen this was disappointed for the participants and even though COVID is stopping me from being there in person, I am thinking about you and writing about you and tonight and the rest of this weekend you will be in my head and in my heart.
