Hello, I've noticed you've been posting about PKNA/PKNE, Wizards of Mickey and other Topolino-related comics. I'd love to be part of that online coomunity, if it exists, can you help me? And do you know of some way to read the new comics in english?

Hey there! Most of PK has been translated and the scanlations are floating around on Tumblr as well as more specialized places like Bankin' the Duck. Not sure about Wizards of Mickey, but thankfully those comics have been released in my language pretty consistently. (Unlike PK, which is still running behind... I'm sort-of following what's going on with the new comics but I have deliberately not actually read the newer comics!)

There's a couple of different communities, but I guess other than the Papersera forum (which is not that much fun if you don't understand Italian), most of it happens here and on Discord. At Duckscord, we have a couple of separate channels for topics such as PK, WOM, DoubleDuck and so on, and we're generally a friendly community.

Facciotto drawing is a 4-parter world of ice !!!!!

Okay so basically what we can take from this is: we will get more of Magica doing cool shit with the ocean. Volcanic witches will return. The chapter title makes it sound like Magica’s last name is Oceanica lol.

A world of ice reminds me of that Casty story l’impero sottozero. But that was more science fiction and politics this is gonna be cool magic things there gonna be magic ice in a world of ice in a ice ice magic ice

If every chapter is gonna be 30 pages that means more than 120 pages again which will slap (ITS THE YEAR OF LONG ENNA STORIES EVERYONE YIPPEE)

So like theyre going hard on this whole Magica + water stuff. Which i really like. I like water. I love it so much, i quite literally drink it every day. Even, the country in which i live is under the sea level. And ill tell you, i am largely MADE of water. If that aint enough prove that im a water fan…

Tbh my dream disney comic series was Magica going on her own adventures in the magic realm on a journey or something and then have the format be like PK and now that Seven witches is getting a sequel, its looking like this whole Magica fucking around with no numero uno in sight might just become a regular series. Like this is pretty much becoming my dream comic at this point.

Okay so lets do a bit of speculating on the plot. Ill say that something that happened in seven witches somehow unleashed a curse on the magic realm that has now gone into an ice age. Or maybe they will cause the curse in the first chapter. Actually the chapter title makes that seem more likely. That bitch from last time comes back to start some beef and they fight and shit and then somehow oh oh really cold water gets everywhere. Then Magica journeys through the ice world to solve it and things. Come back in 5 weeks to see that i got everything wrong. I kinda hope that actually what i just made up sounds really lame

But why would she go up against the volcanic witches? She made peace with 6 of em last time theyre best buds now. Magica does some really bad stuff maybe? She goes into dark forbidden magic territory? But that seems unlikely and out of character for what Enna has been writing. The other witches get hypnotized or something? OR MAYBE THE TITLE IS A FAKEOUT. I GOT YOU ENNA. The story starts off with them battling but its a friendly competition and then the story goes somewhere else!

Anyways i reaaaaallly want to know what theyve been cooking and no idea how its gonna go but i know its gonna be amazing because long story + Bruno Enna + Magica = at the very very least gonna be a ton of fun.

Sorry for the ramblings but i could not not ramble about this i mean its Magica and (then the writer proceeded to type out ten paragraphs of confused rambling text where they used the words magica and enna around 3041 times)

They talk a bit about a Facebook post where Artibani told how Disney rejected his idea.

Also later on in the thread there is a guy who has created a really nice ‘life and times of della duck’ to make sense of her lore based on all her comic appearances. Not really related but it’s cool.

Honestly I think the best way they could have integrated Della into the comics is for her to be a character that only shows up for special issues.

First off, let’s just establish the unspoken requirements that must be met for Della’s existence:

1. She can’t be dead, because that’s too sad. These stories are for kids, remember!

2. She can’t be around, alive and well, either, because then it wouldn’t make sense for HDL to continue living with Donald if Della is there, and that would mess up the status quo. You can never change the status quo, especially a fact so important as “Donald is the triplets’ guardian.”

3. But she can’t be a bad mother or a bad person either! Again, that would be too sad for a Disney comic!

And that’s the reason Duck comic writers have simply ignored the concept of Della entirely, because it’s practically impossible to meet all these rules at once. They just pretend she doesn’t exist, and never existed in the first place.

And then That Comic happens. The 2014 Dutch Della Duck comic. It provides the story that Della is currently traveling in a rocket so quickly that the last (however old the triplets are, minus a couple of months or so, given they were babies when she left) years have only been 15 minutes to her. She will stay in space for another hour before returning home, not knowing it will actually be a few decades. The triplets don’t tell their mother about her situation for honestly no good reason, but that’s a different post.

This story meets the Della Requirements! Della is a good mom, she is alive, but she also isn’t coming back anytime soon.

But it’s still a pretty sad outcome, in my opinion, because Della is unknowingly stuck in space decades, and she’ll miss her children’s entire lives. She can never show up in stories.

I’ve thought of a better way to fit Della into the comics and meet the Requirements:

Just have her be working all the time as a pilot. She’s flying around between different countries all the time, so she leaves the kids with Donald. She could even be a military pilot, if they want to do that. And she can come back to Duckburg when she’s on leave/a break, and we can have a story with her in it every so often, but not so often she’s a main character. It’s the best compromise, I’m telling you.

She’s alive, she’s a good mom, and Donald still gets to be HDL’s main caregiver.

Anyway I’m tired so this might be worded awkwardly in some places and be rambly.

Il fine settimana del 25-26 gennaio 2025 verrà ricordato a Savigliano (CN) come l’inizio di una nuova vita per la collezione di fumetti Disney del compianto Francesco Gerbaldo.

A distanza di quasi tre anni dalla sua scomparsa, un gruppo di volontari, sotto la guida esperta di Davide Del Gusto, Matteo Sonz e Fabio Del Prete (ambasciatori in terra piemontese dell’Associazione Papersera), si sono armati insieme a mamma Adonella di tanta forza, volontà e solidarietà nel dar vita ad un’operazione che non ha eguali nella storia del fumetto Disney italiano.

Francesco – per chi non lo sapesse – possedeva circa 15 mila albi, dei quali 13.590 indicizzati sull’I.N.D.U.C.K.S., il più grande database mondiale di fumetti Disney, gestito interamente da semplici appassionati, ma esperti del settore. Non è un caso che per un lungo periodo sia stato anche in vetta alla classifica dei più grandi collezionisti a livello internazionale.

Questo archivio digitale è stato il punto di partenza che ci ha permesso di stilare una lista cartacea utile per effettuare una prima cernita della sua collezione privata.

La maggior parte dei volumi erano naturalmente nell’abitazione di Francesco a Savigliano, per un totale di 60 scatoloni, ed è su questi che si è svolta la prima catalogazione, in attesa dei restanti (circa una trentina) situati nella casa di montagna. Immaginatevi così una stanza enorme con migliaia di albi sparsi ovunque.

Scatolone dopo scatolone, hanno fatto capolino un po’ alla volta intere pubblicazioni Disney, dalle più diffuse alle più rare, dalle contemporanee a quelle più datate. Fra le testate italiane, corre l’obbligo di segnalare la collezione completa di Topolino, gli Albi della Rosa, lo storico Almanacco Topolino, le varie edizioni di Paperino & C., lo Zio Paperone serie bianca, i Classici e Grandi Classici Disney, le Giovani Marmotte, Paperino Mese, i vari Paperinik e Pikappa oltre ad una serie di albi introvabili italiani.

Ma non è finita qui: innumerevoli anche le testate internazionali, tra cui tutti i numeri de Le Journal de Mickey, Mickey Parade Géant, Picsou Magazine per quanto riguarda la Francia, Disney Adventures, Donald Duck Adventures, Uncle Scrooge e Mickey Mouse per ciò che concerne gli Stati Uniti, sino ad estendere la sua collezione con albi provenienti dal Brasile (suo grande amore), Egitto, Russia, Croazia, ex Jugoslavia, Arabia, Germania, Spagna, Islanda, Norvegia, Svezia, Danimarca, Olanda, Repubblica Ceca e la chicca delle Mickey Mouse Weekly provenienti dal Regno Unito.

La presenza di parenti, amici o semplici conoscenti che si sono alternati in questa due giorni ci ha permesso di poter aprire tutti gli scatoloni, suddividere gli albi per testata e successivamente ordinarli per numerazione. Un lavoro enorme che è stato possibile solamente grazie al contributo di tutti.

L’obiettivo finale di questa operazione sarà quello di poter inaugurare uno spazio che possa preservare l’intera collezione di Francesco a Savigliano, custodirla, curarla e renderne pubblica una parte. Il modo migliore per continuare a ricordarlo e per ringraziarlo di questa preziosa eredità culturale che ci ha lasciato. A breve ci saranno buone nuove a riguardo, siamo solo all’inizio.

L’Associazione Papersera si impegnerà ad essere custode di questo immenso patrimonio.
