Santaferia fue la banda más escuchada en radios nacionales durante el 2023.

La querida banda chilena Santaferia, creadora del popular estilo “Cumbia Casera”, comenzó este 2024 con el pie derecho. Y es que hace sólo unos días fueron notificados de ser la agrupación chilena más escuchada en las radios del país, y no sólo eso: Santaferia ocupa el primer y segundo lugar del ranking de programación radial 2023 repleto de los mejores y más importantes representantes de la música local, en todos sus géneros.

Tal como se puede ver en el listado, al final de la nota, el grupo creador del sencillo “Como Duele” y oriundo de la comuna de Ñuñoa, superó con creces en la programación radial a artistas como Mon Laferte, Los Bunkers, Pailita y Polima Westcoast, Paloma Mami, Denise Rosenthal y hasta Los Prisioneros.

En el primer lugar del ranking figura “Que te vaya bien”, canción compuesta por Ariel “Pachacuti” Carrasco, tecladista y compositor de la banda. El tema fue grabado junto al grupo de música ranchera Zúmbale Primo. En tanto, el segundo lugar lo ocupa la canción “Algún día volverás”, composición del líder y voz de la banda, Pollo González.

Este es sin duda un reconocimiento legítimo para la banda, un triunfo merecido pues habla de un interés genuino de la audiencia y de los medios por privilegiar su música al programarla en las radios del país.

Overall, the job itself is easy and the people are very cool, but the management is incompetent and too young to know how to handle situations with professionalism and upper management like GM are rarely there as he is also the GM of another iPic as well.Change the way you see everything at IPIC, where entertainment and fine dining come together to make every experience memorable. They also hold grudges for no apparent reason since they do not truly know the work ethic of ushers because they are cleaning cinemas but managers are never present in the cinemas with the ushers. They have a high turnover rate which is what they are aiming to do. During down times they expect you to help out other departments but when I needed help it was very rare that they or anyone would come and help. Los últimos 5 años para Muse A han sido el infierno. Miradas que se cruzan, manos que se toman la una a la otra y un primer beso que hace que el pie de Muse A haga pop. Lamentablemente la vida no es una novela romántica... Con dos años de un noviazgo perfecto, Muse A descubre que el amor de su vida, su Muse B, le había ocultado un pequeño detalle: está casado con una hermosa mujer y tiene dos maravillosos hijos.

Haciéndole creer que era Muse C, Muse B empieza a responder los emails de Muse A -porque no quería entristecerlo-, comenzó a contarle cada una de sus aventuras, lo malo, lo bueno, lo que comía y lo que no, absolutamente todo, eso sí, siempre firmaba como Muse C, y es que Muse B es pequeño/a, pero no tonto/a, sabe que la ilusión de Muse A es que sea Muse C quien redacte esos mensajes. Le quiere tanto, que es capaz de hacerse pasar por su mejor amigo.

Pero ahora los años han pasado, los tres son jóvenes recién graduados de sus propias carreras y Muse A cuenta los días para regresar a su país natal y encontrarse con su querido/a Muse C, la personita con la que ha intercambiado misivas desde que eran niños.

Entre idas y venidas una carrera de 5 años se ha convertido en casi 8, pero eso no le quita las ganas de demostrar de lo que es capaz. Muse B es la jefa de publicidad más joven en toda la empresa, con solo 23 años muchos creen que su lugar se debe a ciertos favores hechos al jefe, pero nada más lejos de la realidad. La muchacha es astuta, fuerte y decidida, jodidamente perfeccionista. Solo los mejores trabajarán a su lado y nada ni nadie podría impedirle conseguir sus objetivos y plantarse como la responsable del departamento más eficiente de toda la compañía. Cuando Muse A llega para ser su asistente, un tipo que además de "no encajar" en la industria es bastante años mayor como para servir café y contestar el teléfono, Muse B tendrá que decidir si alguien que demoró en terminar la carrera tanto tiempo es capaz de jugar en su equipo. Una relación tensa sin duda donde los prejuicios y la falta de comunicación complicará absolutamente todo.

¿Muse A podrá tolerar que una mocosa mimada y a la que todo se le dio en bandeja de plata venga a tratarlo de menos? Del odio al amor hay un solo paso, o eso dicen.

Muse A y Muse B llevan años enamorados el uno del otro; ambos conocen los sentimientos que comparten y son conscientes de que son del todo recíprocos, pero mientras Muse A está dispuesto a olvidarse de las consecuencias y lanzarse a una relación con Muse B, éste no lo tiene tan claro. Y es que ya sea por cuestiones familiares o por miedo a las posibles consecuencias, no cree que esté preparado para “salir del armario”. Todo esto se suma a sus malas experiencias con las relaciones y el miedo a que un día Muse A vaya a desaparecer y todo lo que ha arriesgado por ambos no haya servido de nada. “¡Maldita sea, maldita, sea!” Se quejaba para si misma mientras hacía un breve berrinche por haber perdido a Terry de nuevo. Esta vez no había sido un intención, o al menos no lo había hecho de esa manera, sino que al desatarse el caos, y el pánico que inundó cada parte de la ciudad, lo perdió de vista y fue arrastrada a otro lugar. por lo que tuvo que vagar sola por un rato. Empapada completamente, con el cabello pegado a la cara, era un asco, y lo único que quería era llegar a su casa y estar a salvo. Estaba segura que cualquier idiota que hubiera permitido dejar entrar esas criaturas a la ciudad, iban a terminar con miles de problemas y ella iba a encargarse de que su madre fuera firme con su sentencia. 

Después de vagar por la ciudad manteniéndose a salvo como podía, se recargó en una pared a tomar aire. Escuchó ruidos y se aseguró de tener bien firme el palo que había agarrado para defenderse. Cuando sintió los pasos demasiado cerca lanzó el golpe sin esperar a descubrir de quien se trataba. “¡Aléjate de mi criatura podrida!”

Una semana, había pasado una semana desde que se llevaron a Milan, su humor no era el mejor, por eso había decidido quedarse en Escocia, no tenía ánimos de lidiar con las personas que se le acercaban, no quería ser fotografiada por los paparazzis, y aunque ni estando en su país se librara de ello, al menos era menor que en Estados Unidos dónde la reconocían en cada esquina. 

Había tratado de buscar a Milan a través de conexiones, pero por alguna razón no podía hacerlo, tal vez ella misma se lo impedía, estaba asustada de que algo malo pudiera haberle pasado y no quería descubrirlo, había miles de razones por las cuales seguramente no podía concretar la conexión.

Esa tarde había ido a uno de sus lugares favoritos, a la colina en dónde estaba el castillo de Stirling, desde pequeña había encontrado en ese lugar una especie de escapatoria, por suerte no era tan transitado, y el lugar cercano a este que había encontrado, había servido como su escondite cuando deseaba una escapatoria de su día a día. No podía dejar de pensar en su hermano de clan, necesitaba saber que estuviera bien, quería hacerle saber que haría lo que fuera por ayudarlo. Por eso intentó una vez más conectar con él. 

Estaba sentada en una piedra que usaba de asiento, dejando ver el pequeño pueblo a sus pies. Colocó sus manos en su cabeza y se concentro lo suficiente para buscar a Milan. Sintió entonces que una conexión fluía y deseaba, de verdad deseaba que fuese su hermano, su amigo, su compañero. Cuando levantó la mirada finalmente lo observó y sus ojos se cristalizaron. “¿M-Milan? Oh, por.... ¿estás bien?, oh, lo siento, lo siento, siento no haber podido hacer nada para evitar que esto pasara” Expresó buscando contacto con él en un abrazo.

She had been in California when it started.

College came and went, mostly in a blur. It was afterwards, after the graduation party back home followed by a packed suitcase and a teary goodbye, one hand linked with Lulu’s, that she truly started to live. To find herself, who she was, what she wanted. She’d never been ambitious, not in the way so much of her generation was. She never needed a career, aspirations of success - she wanted love, she wanted family.

And she had that. With Lulu, as they travelled across Europe, finding tourist traps and hidden gems. Slumming it in hostels in one country and staying in the nicest hotel they could find in another. Falling in love with everyone they came across - and more importantly, everyone falling in love with them. The Parisian girl who almost threw Merrick’s bag out the door to hold onto Lulu on her own, the Spanish boy who stole Merrick’s heart and almost convinced her to marry him.

For two years, they did what they wanted. Kept everyone informed on a blog - their ‘income’, though limited, and their travels mostly funded by money her parents had saved for her continuing education.

But this was better. It was more real, more vital. She hated classrooms, always had. Naturally bright but unbearably bored - both her and Lulu rebelled against school learning, preferring to teach themselves.

A job offer had come in when they were planning where to next. The idea of Australia, of Africa, of traveling to every continent before they were 30. But Merrick was homesick, and she missed her sister, and so they made a different plan: land in LA, drive across the country, visit home before depositing Merrick in New York.

She could be a writer anywhere, but she would be close to Holly, only a trains ride away. She could reinvent herself again, and now that she’d seen Europe, Manhattan was easy to tackle.

Their easy road trip lasted a day.

The news hit when they landed at LAX, both girls staring at the news screen with pinkies linked.

“Might need the bunker now,” Merrick joked, before they found their luggage and headed towards the rental cars.

By the time they hit Vegas, only a week later, it was evident things were going downhill. She needed to get back, and sooner rather than later. But planes were already limited, if not shutting down altogether - the two drove, but a trip that was supposed to take a few days at most took over a month.

Riverside was practically destroyed.

They found Ethan easily enough, but Holly was nowhere to be found. Merrick told them to wait - she’d bring Holly back, find her in Boston still trying to save the world, and they’d figure out a plan when they were altogether.

Instead, she traveled alone and came back with a different Wood. Oliver had been searching for them, too, and she was antsy to see if she’d somehow just missed her sister - if her and Holly had been mere miles apart, crossing the same path in opposite directions.

Chaos was waiting for them.

It was evident their town had been ransacked for what was left; houses burning down and cries from those who were fleeing. Her own home had smashed windows, a broken stair. Her father, gone, her mother with him. Their bodies laid to rest almost peacefully, side by side, but Merrick took no time to grieve.

Oliver was fast, but she was faster. No speed was enough, though, when she came upon the Jenkin’s home. Already older, dilapidated, looking nearly abandoned. She was a block away when she saw it - Lulu had turned, Ethan turned away from her as he did what was necessary. A head shot, clean and simple - but the recoil from the gun made his arm practically jump before he slumped over, Merrick frozen in shock.

And then he did it to himself.

Her scream would have drawn any remaining walkers out, but Oliver pulled her away, hid her back in her childhood home until they were sure they could move undiscovered. It was agonizing, spending the night in a house full of ghosts.  

Holly, her soft music playing with the familiar shuffle of papers as she studied for hours on end.

Lulu, wrapped up in Merrick’s hoodie, the two of them sharing headphones while they wrote secret codes and stories only they knew.

Logan, smiling from the bottom of the stairs as she bounded down to meet him, throwing herself at him completely in a way she should have been embarrassed by but never managed to be.

Ethan, crawling in through her bedroom window, singing along softly to the mix CDs he’d made for her and her alone.

The tears seemed endless, but Oliver left her to her breakdown, which she was grateful for. And in the morning, she tucked the note she found in an old ABBA record into a bag, determined to find the location written on it.

If Holly was alive, she was going to find her.

She needed to put those who had died to rest, first, though. She spent all of the day and most of the night digging, burying, weeping. The sun turned her hair an even brighter blonde, her skin burning from the heat and the callouses on her fingers growing each passing hour.

She tucked Ethan’s gun into a holster she’d found in his fathers room. Tucked her tiara she’d worked into a weapon into her backpack. Hid a knife in her boots.

And then she went to say goodbye.

All her emotions - loud, always too loud - must have drawn anyone half alive out of hiding, though. A hoard of them - five, not too many but more than she could take on herself, standing at the makeshift graveyard she’d built in her backyard.

She could have slipped away, undetected, but Oliver was looking for her, and his voice attracted their attention. One was too close - much too close - and she looked at him in pain.

The decision was instantaneous.

“Take this,” she demanded, tossing him her bag - a few things she couldn’t live without, a notebook of stories and letters, so many letters for Holly - “and when I say ‘run’, do it.”

He looked ready to protest, but she wouldn’t allow it.

“HEY, FUCKERS,” she screamed, drawing their attention to herself, making sure they were all headed her way before she did what she did best - she ran, disappearing through the trees bordering their yard, Oliver long gone from her vision before the tears started to fall.

It was a suicide mission. But he could be happy, and so could Holly, and Merrick - she’d lived more than most people had.

She lapped them, keeping them on edge, managing to stab one as she raced by and grinning gleefully as it stumbled and fell. The others only seemed more determined, however, and so she picked up her pace, leading them to secret places she only knew.

She could travel all over the world, but Riverside was her home.

Through suburban blocks full of tan pavement and blocky houses, by the high school she’d cheered for for years. Racing through Coach’s backyard, abandoned and overrun after she’d left town.

She was fast. But they were steady, refusing to back down, refusing to lose track of her. And then the worst happened.

A root, ripped up by who knew what, back near her own home. She toppled over, her ankle making a sickening break, her scream of anguish sure to draw them near.

And it did.

She wouldn’t be turned, though - she prayed Oliver had taken her instructions, had run free, that she’d bought him some time. Her hands trembled, even as she lifted the gun from the holster - she’d learned how to fire it when she was young, Lulu’s father taking them to the range on his good days.

It felt heavy in her hands. It was responsible for Lulu. For Ethan.

And as they closed in, she took one last deep breath, a whisper escaping her just before -

“I’m sorry, Hol,” a prayer, a wish, “I love you.”

And then she was gone.
