PSA:
Acetaminophen/paracetamol has a hard stop upper dose limit, above which it becomes extremely toxic.
That limit is 4g (8 “extra strength” (500mg) tablets) in 24 hours (about 2 tablets every 6 hours).
A single dose of 22 extra strength tablets can kill you.
Taking 12 or more tablets per day for more than a week can also kill you (this is about 3 tablets every 6 hours).
Symptoms of overdose take up to 24 hours to manifest, and are fairly difficult to distinguish from other problems. They include abdominal pain (especially right upper quadrant), nausea, malaise, and confusion.
The antidote (n-acetylcystine) must be given within 8hours of ingestion in order to be useful.
After 10 hours the only thing that will work is a liver transplant.
You might think “why would I ever accidentally take so much?”
Well, acetaminophen is in almost everything in the cold/flu/pain aisle. Migraine combos like Excedrin, cold and flu combos like NyQuil, basically anything that says “non-aspirin pain relief”, and anything that’s branded as a fever reducer. It’s all probably acetaminophen/paracetamol.
So the goal of this post is to get you to read the labels on your medications. Because taking taking Tylenol and NyQuil together for a week (like you might if you had the flu) could kill you.

Note
honestly I'm not sure 18 paracetamol would be enough. When I tried I took like 100+.
But my asshole roommate called an ambulance so unfortunately I did wake up
a friend of a friend took about that dose (18 tablets, or maybe it was even less. Everyone in Italy uses the same brand of paracetamol and the pills range to 500mg to 1000mg) and it could have worked but luckily she was rescued
but anyway feeling better not gonna kill myself! :3

Nimesulide 100mg & Paracetamol 325mg
These medicines are part of a group called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). They have pain-relieving and anti-swelling properties that help to reduce mild to moderate pain. It is used to help with sudden illnesses like joint pain, after-surgery pain, fever, menstrual pain, and rheumatoid arthritis. Hurt happens when muscles, bones, or organs get injured. Homemade Parodinal Recipe
Makes 150ml developer concentrate for B+W film and paper – enough for many rolls of film, see usage below. Cost: pennies per roll. Typical buy quantities may last a lifetime.
WEAR GLOVES – Caustic Soda burns are nasty! Work outside. It’s easy but be careful.
16 x 500mg tablets paracetamol, crushed (cheapest kind with no added stuff)
20g sodium metabisulphite (ebay, or sold as Camden tablets from brew supply)
19g sodium hydroxide (sold as Caustic soda in hardware stores)
Cooled boiled water (boiling softens and reduces dissolved oxygen), seal while cooling to reduce re-absorption.
1) Dissolve slowly 10g caustic soda in 50ml water. It will get warm. While still warm add the paracetamol, stir and allow to cool (always add soda to water and not the reverse).
2) Dissolve slowly 9g caustic soda in 70ml of water, allow to cool and add metabisulphite.
3) Mix two solutions at room temperature and add water up to 150ml. Decant to a darkened glass bottle that you can exclude air from. I use some well washed and dried discarded small medicine bottles because that’s what was around. Try to have as little air at top as feasible.
4) Allow to 'meld' for at least 72 hours. I gave it a shake now and then, no worries.
There will be crystals that deposit at the bottom of the bottle, those appear to act as oxygen scavengers and should not be removed.
Oh and word of warning - do the mixing in a well ventilated area and nowhere near photo film or paper as sulphur dioxide from camden tablets will fog them. Wear eye and skin protection when mixing, caustic soda burns are nasty. See “Fight Club”... Usage and Dilutions:
You can use like Rodinal developer. The batch you mixed is concentrated. It lasts for decades if well stored. Dilute it with water in various strengths for use. Like Rodinal it gives nice grain with lower ISO films, and pronounced grain, some say ugly even at higher ISO – say 400 and up. Longer development times seem more grainy. You have some control. See: Massive Dev Chart Film Development, Film Developing Database Examples:
1+25, faster, typically ~ 4-5 minutes. eg. 12ml into 300ml water, 150ml batch does 12 rolls of film.
1+50, slightly slower, around ~ 8 minutes but economical. eg. 6ml into 300ml water, gets 25rolls per batch.
1+100, for 60 minute stand development, acts as multi-ISO, grainy. eg. 3ml into 300ml – 50 rolls out of 150ml batch. Yikes.
(pdf printable version available here)
Notes:
This developer is usually made with sodium sulphite but sodium metabisulpite is often more readily available from brew supply shops (and cheaper). From my online reading I believe mixing the latter with sodium hydroxide converts it to the former and that's why it is mixed separately and then combined. In any case I've used the above method and it works fine.
I often fill 5ml syringes with the developer and have on hand for quick and easy measured use, quick mixing and then into film tank. Use old jars for mixing as you don't want this stuff on kitchen food utensils.
The above info was gleened from various online forums and sources. There are youtube videos showing how to make Parodinal as well.

Approximating Common OTC Combination Medicines With Non-Combination Meds
Contains notes on what each ingredient is meant to do, and the most common reasons you might want to avoid it.
Excedrin extra-strength or Excedrin Migraine (per usual 2 tablet dose)
One extra-strength (500mg) paracetamol/acetaminophen (Tylenol) - non-NSAID pain reliever and fever reducer, hard on liver.
1.5 regular aspirin (325mg), OR six "low dose" (81mg aspirin), OR one extra-strength or "back and body" aspirin (500mg). You're going for about 500mg but aspirin doses are arcane. NSAID pain reliever, fever reducer, antiinflammatory, salicylate, blood thinner, hard on the stomach.
2 cups of black or green tea OR one cup of brewed coffee OR a coffee drink with two shots of espresso OR 2tsp instant coffee crystals (you can turn it into liquid coffee or not) OR half a standard caffeine pill OR a 100mg caffeine pill if you can find them. 100-150mg of caffeine. Stimulant, vasoconstrictor, diuretic, increases heart rate, iirc works synergistically with the pain relievers.
Excedrin PM (per usual 2 tablet dose)
One extra-strength (500mg) paracetamol/acetaminophen (Tylenol) - non-NSAID pain reliever and fever reducer, hard on liver.
1.5 regular aspirin (325mg per tablet), OR six "low dose" (81mg aspirin per tablet), OR one extra-strength or "back and body" aspirin (500mg). You're going for about 500mg but aspirin doses are arcane. NSAID pain reliever, fever reducer, antiinflammatory, salicylate, blood thinner, hard on the stomach.
2 diphenhydramine hcl tablets (Benadryl, Sominex, or Unisom Sleep Gels) (25mg per tablet, 50mg total) - antihistamine, sleep aid, anticholinergic, dehydrating.
Note: Excedrin PM container 38mg per tablet of diphenhydramine citrate, not HCL. 25mg diphenhydramine hcl is equivalent. Diphenhydramine citrate is extraordinarily difficult to find outside of combination medicines. If for some reason you must have the citrate, do not take the aspirin and combine 1 extra strength acetaminophen with 2 tablets of combined ibuprofen (200mg) and diphenhydramine citrate (38mg), typically marketed as Advil pm or ibuprofen pm.
NyQuil (per typical 2 gel cap dose or 30ml of liquid medicine)
2 regular (325mg per tablet, 650mg total) paracetamol/acetaminophen (Tylenol) - non-NSAID pain reliever and fever reducer, hard on liver.
2 gel caps (15mg each, 30mg total) dextromethorphan - cough suppressant, nmda receptor antagonist, histaminergic for some people.
1 half tablet (25mg per tablet, 12.5mg total) doxylamine succinate (unisom sleep tabs) - sleep aid, antihistamine, anticholinergic, dehydrating.
Note 1: dextromethorphan by itself is a right pain to find these days. If you tolerate guaifenesin, a single tablet of 30mg dextromethorphan and 600mg guaifenesin will serve your purposes as well as or better than dextromethorphan by itself.
Note 2: Look, I fucking hate NyQuil, okay? It's terrible. Doxylamine succinate is an objectively worse drug than diphenhydramine unless you're specifically trying to sleep for 12+ hours, dextromethorphan is less useful without guaifenesin, and that's probably more acetaminophen than you need. My advice is to take 500mg acetaminophen (1 extra strength tablet), 1 tablet of combined dextromethorphan and guaifenesin (30/600, so the coughing you do anyway will be productive), and 25mg of diphenhydramine hcl (if you actually want the sleep aid).
NyQuil Severe
2 regular (325mg per tablet, 650mg total) paracetamol/acetaminophen (Tylenol) - non-NSAID pain reliever and fever reducer, hard on liver.
1 or 2 gel caps (15mg each, 15 or 30mg total) dextromethorphan - cough suppressant, nmda receptor antagonist, histaminergic for some people.
1 half tablet (25mg per tablet, 12.5mg total) doxylamine succinate (unisom sleep tabs) - sleep aid, antihistamine, anticholinergic, dehydrating.
1 tablet (15mg) pseudoephedrine - decongestant, mild stimulant, increases heart rate and blood pressure.
Note 1: see NyQuil above for notes on dextromethorphan and how much I hate NyQuil.
Note 2: Yeah I straight up replaced the phenylephrine with a different drug because oral phenylephrine doesn't work as a decongestant. This has been confirmed repeatedly. It doesn't fucking work. If you can't access, or can't take, pseudoephedrine, guaifenesin will help some, and so will maybe a warm cup of tea. If you insist on taking phenylephrine anyway, you're looking for a single 10mg tablet.
Note 3: this stuff contains 20mg dextromethorphan per dose, which doesn't seem to exist elsewhere. If you have a bad cough, take 2 15s, if you have a mild or occasional cough, take 1, if you don't have a cough, keep 1 handy but don't take it if you don't need it.
DayQuil (per 2 gelcaps or 30ml liquid)
2 regular (325mg per tablet, 650mg total) paracetamol/acetaminophen (Tylenol) - non-NSAID pain reliever and fever reducer, hard on liver.
1 or 2 gel caps (15mg each, 15 or 30mg total) dextromethorphan - cough suppressant, nmda receptor antagonist, histaminergic for some people.
1 tablet (15mg) pseudoephedrine - decongestant, mild stimulant, increases heart rate and blood pressure.
Note 1: see note 1 on NyQuil for more on dextromethorphan logistics, note 2 on NyQuil Severe for more on replacement of phenylephrine with pseudoephedrine, and note 3 on NyQuil Severe for even more dextromethorphan logistics.
DayQuil Severe
2 regular (325mg per tablet, 650mg total) paracetamol/acetaminophen (Tylenol) - non-NSAID pain reliever and fever reducer, hard on liver.
1 or 2 gel caps (15mg each, 15 or 30mg total) dextromethorphan - cough suppressant, nmda receptor antagonist, histaminergic for some people.
1 half tablet (600mg/tablet, 300mg total) guaifenesin - mucus thinner.
1 tablet (15mg) pseudoephedrine - decongestant, mild stimulant, increases heart rate and blood pressure.
Note 1: there's 400mg of guaifenesin in a normal dose of DayQuil Severe, but tablets below 600mg are hard to find. 600mg is probably fine. You can also replace the dextromethorphan gels and guaifenesin tablet with a whole or half tablet of dextromethorphan 30mg/guaifenesin 600mg.
See note 2 on NyQuil Severe for more on replacement of phenylephrine with pseudoephedrine, and notes 1 and 3 on NyQuil Severe for more on dextromethorphan logistics.
Pamprin Multi-Sympton Maximum Strength
One extra-strength (500mg) paracetamol/acetaminophen (Tylenol) - non-NSAID pain reliever and fever reducer, hard on liver.
1 tablet (50mg) pamabrom (diurex) - diuretic, meant to treat bloating, apparently a xanthine and unsettlingly difficult to research, might not be a great idea if you're very sensitive to caffeine but honestly I couldn't say for sure.
1 tablet (4mg) chlorphenamine maleate - antihistamine, sedating, anticholinergic. The actual thing in Pamprin is pyrilamine maleate, but best I can tell that's not available by itself, and chlorphenamine seems to be the closest cousin. There's also no evidence that antihistamines actually help pms symptoms, so feel free to just skip it.
Pamprin Max Pain + Energy
Note: This is literally just Excedrin, pink edition. Also it contains 2 common allergens (red 40 and coconut oil) that Excedrin does not.
Midol Complete (per tablet)
One extra-strength (500mg) paracetamol/acetaminophen (Tylenol) - non-NSAID pain reliever and fever reducer, hard on liver.
1 cup of black or green tea OR half a cup of brewed coffee OR a coffee drink with 1 shot of espresso OR 1tsp instant coffee crystals (you can turn it into liquid coffee or not) OR one quarter a standard caffeine pill OR a half 100mg caffeine pill if you can find them. 50-100 mg of caffeine. Stimulant, vasoconstrictor, diuretic, increases heart rate, iirc works synergistically with the pain relievers.
1 tablet (4mg) chlorphenamine maleate - antihistamine, sedating, anticholinergic. The actual thing in Midol Complete is pyrilamine maleate, but best I can tell that's not available by itself, and chlorphenamine seems to be the closest cousin. There's also no evidence that antihistamines actually help pms symptoms, so feel free to just skip it.
Coricidin HBP Cold and Flu (per 2 tablet dose)
Two regular (325 mg) paracetamol/acetaminophen (Tylenol) - non-NSAID pain reliever and fever reducer, hard on liver.
1 tablet (4mg) chlorphenamine maleate - antihistamine, sedating, anticholinergic.
Coricidin HBP Cough and Cold
1 tablet (4mg) chlorphenamine maleate - antihistamine, sedating, anticholinergic.
2 gel caps (15mg each, 30mg total) dextromethorphan - cough suppressant, nmda receptor antagonist, histaminergic for some people.
Note: dextromethorphan by itself is a right pain to find these days. If you tolerate guaifenesin, a single tablet of 30mg dextromethorphan and 600mg guaifenesin will serve your purposes as well as or better than dextromethorphan by itself.
Coricidin HBP Cough, Cold, and Flu
Two regular (325 mg) paracetamol/acetaminophen (Tylenol) - non-NSAID pain reliever and fever reducer, hard on liver.
1 or 2 gel caps (15mg each, 15 or 30mg total) dextromethorphan - cough suppressant, nmda receptor antagonist, histaminergic for some people.
1 half tablet (600mg/tablet, 300mg total) guaifenesin - mucus thinner.
Note 1: this stuff contains 20mg dextromethorphan per dose, which doesn't seem to exist elsewhere. If you have a bad cough, take 2 15s, if you have a mild or occasional cough, take 1, if you don't have a cough, keep 1 handy but don't take it if you don't need it.
Note 2: there's 400mg of guaifenesin in a normal dose of Coricidin Cough, Cold & Flu, but tablets below 600mg are hard to find. 600mg is probably fine. You can also replace the dextromethorphan gels and guaifenesin tablet with a whole or half tablet of dextromethorphan 30mg/guaifenesin 600mg.
Coricidin Nighttime
Two regular (325 mg) paracetamol/acetaminophen (Tylenol) - non-NSAID pain reliever and fever reducer, hard on liver.
2 gel caps (15mg each, 30mg total) dextromethorphan - cough suppressant, nmda receptor antagonist, histaminergic for some people.
1 half tablet (25mg per tablet, 12.5mg total) doxylamine succinate (unisom sleep tabs) - sleep aid, antihistamine, anticholinergic, dehydrating.
Note 1: See note on Coricidin Cough and Cold for more on dextromethorphan logistics
Note 2: Please take 25mg diphenhydramine hcl instead of the doxylamine succinate.
Coricidin Chest Congestion and Cough
1 or 2 gel caps (15mg each, 15 or 30mg total) dextromethorphan - cough suppressant, nmda receptor antagonist, histaminergic for some people.
1 half tablet (600mg/tablet, 300mg total) guaifenesin - mucus thinner.
Note: strictly speaking, this is 2/3 of a tablet of dextromethorphan 30mg/guaifenesin 600mg, so if you're good at cutting pills that's another option.
I feel like I'm missing an entire category of combination meds here. Please let me know if there's something else on which you'd like to see this kind of breakdown.

Everything You Need to Know About Pain Relief Basics
Numerous drugs are used for Pain relaxation, and all anthem have different effects and side effects. However, these medicines are widespread nowadays, and many people intake these without the prescription of a doctor.
Most are free from side effects when used within a limit, but everything can be dangerous if it's out of the boundary. Here we will tell you everything you need about Pain Relief basics. Therefore, read till the end and learn about the effects of these drugs on our bodies.
The Everything About Pain Relief Basics
Tumblr media
How does a painkiller work? When your intake a pain killer, it stops or slows the nerves and cells from the injured or irritated part from relaying messages to the brain. Hence when the brain is not reported correctly.
Then it will not develop a painful signal, and you will not feel discomfort or may only feel a little. Opioids (a kind of medicine) have different functioning. Some can be used for a short time, and others for long-term relaxation. You can feel relieved after 15 to 30 minutes of taking the drug.
The Kinds of Pain
You can have different irritations, some due to the inner body functions or some due to injuries. Biologically, the five most common types of pain and their reasons are listed below:
Acute pain is short-term discomfort caused by temporary illness or injury.
Chronic pain is long-lasting pain that takes months or years to be cured.
Neuropathic Pain can be burning or stabbing sensations due to damage to nerves or some parts of the nervous system.
Radicular pain is like tingling or feeling numb, and it is caused due to the affected sciatic nerve.
Nociceptive pain is joint irritation caused by external injuries.
The Pain Relief Tablets
Tumblr media
There are unlimited painkillers available in the market. Most are easily obtainable and do not have side effects when used within a limit. You can use common medicines to stop suffering from injuries for a short time.
However, consulting a doctor is still the best option. Similarly, if the pain is long-term, you should go for a checkup. Some of the painkillers are listed below.
Naproxen
This is an OTC anti-inflammatory drug that is efficient for irritations caused by inflammation or swelling. Counter (OTC) means you can instantly take pain or discomfort.
Pain-O-Soma
Soma is a muscle relaxer that prevents painful sensations from nerves to the brain. It can be used to relieve injuries. It can only be utilized sometimes and should not be used because its long-term use is not proven effective. Similarly, if the pain is not relieved by this medicine, you should stop using it and consult a doctor.
Aspirin
This is a very commonly used medication; some people use it without a specialist prescription. Moreover, it is usually used for headaches or other body pains. You can also use t without asking a doctor but always avoid unlimited use and consume this within limits.
Paracetamol
This is also a generic medicine that is very effective for all ages. It is used when feeling discomfort or fever. People can take it without consulting a doctor; it does not show many cases if they see effects.
Carisoprodol 500mg
This is a very efficient drug consumed for musculoskeletal pain. Musculoskeletal means muscles, joint bones, bones, or adjacent connective tissues. It is taken orally and gives relief after half an hour.
The Side-Effects of Pain Relief Medicines
You may feel dizzy or sleepy after taking painkillers because it relaxes your muscles & nerves and make you comfortable.
Nausea may occur when you take these because of new changes to your body.
The joint effects of opioids include increased dietary fibers, which can cause constipation for a short time.
High intake of opioids can slow breathing, but the high dose should be avoided.
Bottom Line
Medicines for Pain Relief are prevalent nowadays. However, it would help if you did not take medication without consulting a doctor. But these medicines usually do not have side effects, so they can be taken for a while. Please share this helpful information with others too.
