I would not recommend this movie to my friends. I would not rewatch this movie.

Elliot is doing his best but is often so awkward and unhelpful. There is so much angst and teenage vibes amidst all these real problems.

I don't feel iike Rose really learned that much or resolved anything really. Her situation was easily made less severe with constant help from random strangers and she always managed to get a room and a job. It's just unrealistic to me. Also, after that happening to my mom, I would not trust any of these strangers.

This really took me back to Diane Guerrero's memoir. I'm glad this topic was put into a movie and with Filipino representation as well.

Is it alright if I request Yandere DBZ Broly x Female Tanjiro Reader? (Not Dragon Ball Super Broly, I haven’t watched that movie yet, but from the clips I’ve seen he’s just adorable)

Because of her kind and gentle personality she unknowingly tamed and soothed his sadistic and violent side that lives deep inside of him with her gentle touch, kind eyes and compassionate demeanor (Unlike his father, she’s not afraid of him and doesn’t think he’s a monster)

And because of this, she’s the only one that Broly’s darker personality (I believe Broly has spilt personalities) willingly listens to (He’s also very territorial and possessive over Reader, since he chose her as his mate)

I tried my best with this one- I’ve only seen through the fight with Cell.

-Broly only knew hardship throughout his life, being raised to be the strongest of the Saiyans, a title he proudly held, but at what cost?

-Broly knew there were two personalities deep in his body, his normal, stoic one- the one that was a calculating, quiet person, looking like a true leader. The other- a violent, uncontrollably beast, with a never satisfied thirst for battle.

-Many both feared and respected him, but there was a difference between being respected due to fear and being respected due to adoration. That is what he wanted most, he wanted to look out across the crowds and not see fear on the faces of others.

-That’s when he met you, after he came across you on Earth, after you had been transported there due to an accident of different Demon Blood Arts colliding with no way home.

-You enjoyed this world with no demons, but there were still threats, so you continued to train, wanting to remain strong to protect those you now called friends and allies.

-Broly didn’t know what to make of you, seeing a swordswoman practicing so hard out in the forest, to the point of making your hands bleed.

-It wasn’t often where he would meet someone else who trained as hard as he did.

-He stepped on a twig, alerting you to his presence and you turned, eyes narrowed, thinking it was a threat, but when you saw him there, your glare instantly melted and you smiled warmly, “Hello there! Are you lost?”

-Broly wasn’t sure what to make of you- you weren’t scared of him, and you were even offering to give him directions. It was odd.

-Broly sought you out a few more times, tracking you by smell, which made Paragus curious as to where his son was going each day.

-When he followed Broly, he was no expecting to find him with a human woman, a swordswoman by the looks of it, the two just sitting together, eating a lunch she had provided, Broly sitting in silence while you were chatting away about your training.

-Paragus was stunned, seeing that you weren’t afraid of Broly and somehow, Broly was completely calm around you, almost like you were soothing him.

-While still wanting to fight others, like Vegeta and Goku, Broly could sense that his darker side was calmer when he was by your side, as he would feel antsy when you weren’t around.

-When Paragus went to approach the two of you, Broly’s calm façade immediately faded and he glared, a snarl rising in his throat, surprising Paragus that his son was guarding over you like he was your mate.

-You were polite, touching Broly’s hand and he immediately deflated, looking at your hands touching his own, a warm feeling spreading through his chest as you greeted this newcomer.

-Paragus introduced himself as Broly’s father and you bowed deeply, showing your respect but Paragas, seeing this as a chance to keep Broly under control, as you seemed to calm him, waved off your worries and gave his son a small nod before leaving.

-Broly was very protective of you, not letting any other male come close to you, even your friends, like Goku and Krillan, but for children, like Goten and Trunks, he didn’t really mind, not seeing them as a threat.

-Everyone was easily able to tell that Broly had laid claim to you, even if you didn’t know it yourself, as he was very territorial of you, he wouldn’t even hesitate to just sweep you into his arms and fly off if he felt like he wasn’t getting enough attention.

-Broly was so gentle and kind to you, true he didn’t speak much, but his actions spoke for him, like when he would put flowers in your hair, petting your hair gently, and nuzzling his nose into your cheek softly, making you blush.

-When Broly’s odd affections and actions made sense, after he called you, “My mate.” Your face had turned so red, he thought you were turning into a tomato.

-Bulma thought it was rather amusing, but she approved, so long as Broly didn’t hurt you or anyone else, something that there was a tentative agreement on.

-Broly got to fight against the other Saiyans, but in fights that wouldn’t cause so much destruction, and he was allowed to remain by your side.

-Paragus learned the hard way that Broly wasn’t leaving Earth because he wasn’t leaving you, and you didn’t want to leave earth, as you had already been thrown into one new world, you weren’t prepared to go into space.

-Paragus had to admit that it wasn’t so bad, as Broly was now calmer, as long as nothing or nobody threatened you, then Broly would be uncontrollable.

-You were hesitant about being in a relationship, as you had never been in one before, but Broly was patient, not pushing anything, he was allowing you to be in charge, something you did appreciate, and he seemed content with the soft affections, like brushing his hair, or laying his head on your lap, anything to just be by your side.

-He wasn’t leaving, and neither were you. You were mates after all.

Okay so I gotta be honest, I’m not sure if I’m gaslighting myself on this, but I remember the origin of this word being the word “ restrict “ This originally played into a plot twist, but it was in a stupid way so I cut it. Val

When I first “ announced “ the book to my friends, I was still figuring out things like character names. If I remember correctly, the name Val was given by my friend Cece. We don’t talk much anymore, but she’s a cool person

Amartalos

Amartalos isint an important character to How Our World Ended, but he has a story to him! Amartalos is the god of fire, and a hell-esc realm known as Paragas. His name comes from the word “ sinner “ in Greek.

And that’s about it for How Our World Ended characters with interesting stories. The rest were just random name generatord, or I thought they sounded cool. There are a few characters from other stories ( like souls collide ) that have more interesting name origins, so I’ll do two of those here

Hart

Hart is an assassin in a currently unnamed project. As he is HEAVILY inspired by Walter White, and his depection in “ Felina “ I based his name off of Walter’s middle name

Lars

Lars is the protagonist of souls collide, and was originally more or less a self insert. He has evolved far past that, but I wanted to honor that in his name. My mother almost named me Lars, and I love the name, so I thought it was fitting

Ryder

This one is petty, but I think the name still fits, and it was made a long time ago. I used to know this asshole named Ryder. Real piece of shit, so when I needed a name for a character to fill a piece of shit role, well- I’d never do something like that now, but hey, it is a part of my writing history

(different anon) is there something wrong with the super broly movie and broly himself ? Aside from things like freeza and the opening being almost like db minus?

Well most of the movie is the fighting and all of that is really good. Absolutely phenomenal animation.

The story is really fucking bad though. You could literally remove Freeza from the movie wholesale and it would ACTIVELY IMPROVE the film. Seriously why the fuck doesn't Gogeta just kill Freeza at the end? They just fucking let him go? After he came to Earth with Broly specifically to unleash him upon them and have them killed? He's just this team rocket ass saturday morning cartoon villain now and they LET HIM GO so that he can spend his ending monologue of the movie CONQUERING A PLANET AND KILLING THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE? "Oh we gotta find a good place for Broly to live where he can hide from Freeza to keep him safe" YOU KNOW you wouldn't NEED to hide him if you just FUCKING KILLED FREEZA. You dumb fucks.Fucking ass, I fucking hate Dragon Ball Super.

I really just prefer Broly as a villain. The Super movie turning him into this uwu softboi tarzan who becomes fwiends with Goku by the end is just really asinine and makes him so much less interesting. Like, what even is his motivation? Can you answer that question? What, literally, what is Super Broly's motivation as a character? What does he WANT? He's literally just a prop for other characters, he's a passive nothing of a Tarzan archetype who exists to make you go "oh no the poor little buddy =ccc ". And his power and transformation makes, like, no sense? He just is a berserker? I don't understand WHY he's so powerful or what the reference for how powerful he is. Literally HOW can he POSSIBLY be stronger than Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan? Just BECAUSE the movie needs him to be for the sake of the fight? Nothing about his character makes any fucking sense.

Freeza killing Paragas was, like, funny from the way he pretended to be distraught about it and I do kinda like how he remembered that killing Krillin is what triggered the Super Saiyan transformation in the first place. But it would have been way more emotionally impactful is Broly DID genuinely accidentally kill his own dad. Again, removing Freeza from the movie actively improves it.

Say what you want about OG Broly but at least I understand his motivation. I know exactly what he wants. He's a psychopath who just wants to kill everything and hates Kakarot in particular. He also retains full cognitive awareness even when he's Transformed, hell arguably he's at his most Himself when he's transformed and freed from the restraints his father put him under, so everything he does is his own deliberate choice wherein he retains full agency over his decisions. As opposed to Super Broly, who is just a mindless weapon. Broly is THE Legendary Super Saiyan that Vegeta spoke about, as opposed to the dye job power boost that the transformation becomes for everyone else; a legendary warrior that loves battle and bloodshed over anything else. A monster who destroyed an entire galaxy single handedly and loved every single moment of it. A sadist who blew up a planet and taunted its inhabitants as he did so.

He's just so much more interesting. And there's better emotional payoff to him killing his father himself. His transformation is defined, makes sense, and I understand completely why he's so much more powerful than every other character. Even the visuals of his transformation are so gnarly, his fucking skin gets torn off and it looks metal as hell.

Also sure you could say him not liking Goku because baby Kakarot's crying upset him was stupid, but at least it's A connection. He has a REASON to want to kill Goku, even if you think it's a stupid one. What's his reason in Super? He has none. He's just a fucking pawn, a weapon pointed in Vegeta and Goku's direction, with no agency or motivation of his own. That isn't interesting. He's just an empty hollow pointless punch monkey. I find the original Broly to be vastly superior in literally every single aspect.

It's insane to me that they took a character as overhyped Broly, and turned him into a hot plate of fucking nothing. Super is so unmitigatingly awful.

I like the bond that Shallot builds with Broly and co, might end up adding Shallot as a muse too once I get familiar with the DBLegends storyline again. I might do my own version of the Tournament of Time with a verse/AU, a part of me wishes the story went in a different direction though, despite not complaining about how things ended.

spoilers for anyone not caught up on the story mode!

Would be cool if Shallot and Gilbert actually fused to take down Broly who transformed into a Super Saiyan from Frieza killing Paragas like in the movie. Since they're all still alive, that might actually happen in the future!

Mykonos, Greece: Hike to Paraga Beach

Paraga beach

As it was my third day on the Greek sun and sand capital of Mykonos, it was time to try a new beach:  Paralia Parangka (Paranga Beach). Therefore, I also opted to attempt what several travel pundits had forewarned to forgo:  walking on the rural roadways to reach Paraga Beach from my small inland hotel located above Super Paradise Beach.

Long before coming to Mykonos, my Internet sleuthing had already informed me that the backcountry roads of Mykonos were reputedly fraught with traffic dangers. As it turns out, most of that is simple deception to fill the pockets of ‘dispatchers’, I.e. transport companies who willingly and expensively ferret (ferry) you around to various quaint corners of what amounts to a tiny rocky island that you can almost circumvent in less than a day’s walk.  I say ‘almost’ because the truth is that all roads start at the island’s highest point and descend and then ascend—up and down multiple times before finally getting down to the intended seashore level. In this case, it was Paraga Beach.

As is true for most of life’s pleasures, half of fun is just getting there. So it was of walking the circuitous county roads through desolated landscapes bordered by pristine marine vistas on my way to Paraga Beach.

Once again I was fooled by the never-before encountered terrain upon reaching the edge of the yet unseen beach. The road suddenly turned and I seemed to be standing at the entrance of a restaurant. Little did I know that this was the far-left corner to Paraga Beach. The fact that I had actually reached my intended destination was so unapparent that I initially felt I had made an error, and I thus retreated a short distance, peering into several private business properties in hopes of finding my way to Paraga Beach.

Finally, reason prevailed over what seemed my misconception, and I returned to the restaurant and walked further into the maze-like property to find that it turned once again into another bar and then another restaurant… at last, I way on the right track. On my left side unfolded the rows of beach beds, adorned in each proprietor’s original drapes and in the typical arrangement I had seen at the other beaches I’d been on the previous days’ beach excursions.

Eventually, I reached the actual beach itself, without the battle field flag draped seatees and instead the more familiar nature-provided (hopefully) sandy beach, where I intended to spend the next two or three hours of luxurious freedom.

Wasting time, or  ‘vacating’ after all, is what a real vacation—no matter anywhere one goes — is all about.
