This is my gift to myself :) I drew my favorite guys ever.

For a while I've been itching to draw the wedding outfits from this post again. I made them up on the fly as I was drawing, but I actually really like how they ended up turning out. They're super cute!! (though, yet again, you can't see almost any part of Dedede's outfit... 💔)

But then I couldn't get it out of my head to make a companion piece for it, with their mirror versions. And so. I did. What they have going on is a little bit messy, though...

Metadede Week Day 4: Swap

I got a little.... ambitious with this one and needed to split it in two hahaha. The ideas just kept coming uncontrollably!!

I gave them a Parallel/Clone/Non-specific hostile alternate version of themselves to fight here. Happens a lot in the games, huh? What would happen if these two had to utilize the others' weapon? Dedede's is just a powerful and large hammer, but Galaxia is a sword with many special properties...

This scenario is going off of my theory that Dedede is an excellent conductor of the elements- which is why he often utilizes the elements around him in boss battles and why elements/beings like Dark Matter or other possessive elements seem to flow through him so easily

Galaxia is shown to utilize lightning, especially in the anime. And there was that whole thing in the show where the sword may destroy anyone deemed an unworthy wielder...

But I'll elaborate more in part 2 hehehe >:3

actually im not super into shipping i think? i definitely value being able to imagine a dynamic for even the nichest pairings and have a lot of fun stretching or emphasizing certain parts of each characters' personalities to get them to work the best while opening up the potential for some development on each characters' side (thats exactly why im doing the ship bingo! its a ton of fun!), but theres very few things i actually like. Ship beyond surface level thoughts tbh. and recently the things i actually do ship have gotten increasingly niche. so enjoy this ramble that mostly pertains to specifically me and only me LMAO /lh

metadede ofc is the big one. not niche obviously. extremely beloved by me hiiiiiiiiii. they just have so much to work with in canon it makes so many varied interpretations which are a blast to see honestly. in general i love seeing how people portray their friendship too. an idiot whos smart to smart guy whos an idiot communication. enemies to friends to lovers..... their personalities bounce off of each other really well and the content the community makes is always a+. actually im going to take the opportunity to share my favorite mtdd fic ever. this is like pretty much peak metadede to me if anyone wants to know what i hope my personal interpretation will live up to [link!]

people might be able to tell ive been getting very into dametaberge. oh my god im so insane. no one look at me. dmk+jambacult found family Real. i have like three comics in my drafts for them. its mostly dametaberge thoughts rn but i like to think susie joins them later to make a poly ship. dmk and susie are a little tense at first but susie is, "like so over her knight phase," as she says, which dmk is extremely conflicted about whether to be offended or relieved at. and then they learn how to relax around each other and are always the two in the relationship to have awful destructive ideas, which flamberge vetos or approves of on a case by case basis. they get very happy and excited when flamberge approves of their awful plans

and of course my beloved gsa ships.............. theres falsgato which i am incredibly insane about thanks to my friend dragging me into it and now its a thing in my animeverse. enemies to friends to lovers I KEEP SAYING IM SO WEAK FOR THAT. dragato was a huge asshole to falspar for Various reasons regarding the nature of the gsa and perhaps dragatos own personal insecurity, but once they lost the war they got to bond since dragato like, realized how little the shit he antagonized falspar for actually mattered in the first place. and falspars a guy who really sees the best in people and ahahahghdjk its a whole thing its a whole thing i wont go into it rn LOL

theres also metarthur which is my very very beloved longtime rarepair. which i um. uh. ahahahah............. i get very slightly nervous talking about on main because a lot of people hc arthur as meta knights dad or parental figure but i shouldnt be nervous about hc differences really....... anyways theyre supposed to be like parallels of each other. people who are opposites thematically (arthur being leader of the gsa; mk being a former deeply infamous demon beast) who find themselves in similar positions in that they both kinda struggle with their sense of purpose vs their sense of self. meta knight sees his past struggles in arthur and so he finds himself drawn to him. he cant really Solve his situation, but (during their war-time relationship specifically) he hopes to offer some solace to him which functions as a form of catharsis to mk himself too. the two get to connect and understand each other in a unique way. i wont get too into this one right now either lol since the dynamic changes a lot depending on if its their during-war relationship or post-war relationship but theres the basics. i have a comic expanding on their general relationship in my drafts too but its at the bottom of my to-do list tbh. maybe someday though

im only into this one casually nowadays but morphogala... you really cant go wrong with "knight of death saves the greatest warrior in the galaxy from their torturous fate". something something the themes of wishing for the release of death being subverted into yes, death itself releasing you but in a way that actually Saves and rescues you instead. the hope and love in spite of all of the hopelessness AHHHHGH the themes of this one make me so weak. theres so much potential...... i really love this one on an aesthetic level too

you know i take my comment on "not super into shipping" back i think my multishipper ass has disillusioned myself into thinking being insane about like 4-5 ships isnt enough or isnt the norm. maybe i am insane about shipping......... oops

ships that make my thumbs up list in that i like them in concept but dont ship myself would be: marxolor; any of wave 3 x each other tbh. i have them as just besties in my hcs but paired up in any way is very fun; i kinda like shadow metadede but im really particular about the dynamic of that one; fransoos gets a very big thumbs up from me for themes and concept+enemies/rivals to lovers; metagala is. i dont super get it myself but the aesthetics alone are absolutely on-point enough to put this one in the thumbs up category. yayyyyyyy. im sure theres more that im missing but i think that covers any that arent too niche

Things they’ll never admit

Him and parallel dedede tend to bicker every now and then and get on eachother's nerves. Pmk pretends that he hates pddd's guts, but in reality he cares deeply for the guy. He doesn't exactly know why, but he sure as hell isn't gonna admit these feelings to pddd.

People they’ve hurt or indirectly killed, and how it affected them

He's gotten into his fair share of fights trying to protect his king. But unfourtunatly he won't always succeed in defending him. When a parallel is defeated, they'll loose their physical form and turn into a mini jamba heart piece for a bit. So when that happens pmk quickly retrieves his king's heart and retreats. Whenever this occurs pmk always feels guilty and apologizes to the jamba heart piece, unaware that pddd can still technically hear him.

What-ifs/Alternate Timelines

Instead of being sent to Popstar after their initial defeat, pmk and pddd end up in Another Dimension where the two decide to cause some chaos. The two hunt down and defeat parallel landia and take the master crown from him and things go south from there. Pddd is the one to put the crown on and due to him technically being a jamba heart piece, along with the fact that void termina probably made the master crown, the results of these two combining are horrific. Pmk was about to stop his king but pddd convinced him to join his side, so now they both rule over the entirety of Another Dimension together and will get rid of anyone who dares to defy them.

First impression - a surprisingly hard boss fight in epic yarn! also, good character design. gay swordsman

Impression now - i love him. gay icon. the absolute coolest. swords + wings + cape = just immeasurably powerful vibes.

Favorite moment - he’s got so many great moments but one i love is the easter egg in star allies where if you go up to him before his fight and ignore the sword, he’ll jump up and kick the sword away

Idea for a story - *checks long list on my fic ideas doc* oooh so there’s this really good and fairly well known homestuck fic called theatre of coolty (i promise this is relevant) where one of the characters has a strange, enlightening conversation with various versions of himself, like clones, splinters of his identity, etc. anyway i was thinking it’d be cool to write something kinda like that where meta meets up with all his splinter selves (he has so many) and the like, like dmk, parallel meta, and the mecha knight armor..

Unpopular opinion - i have no idea whether this is unpopular or not but. he should not have that accent in the anime. it’s funky but no.

Favorite relationship - my fav ship with him is of course metagala (but metadede is good shit too)

Favorite headcanon - i write about this one a lot but it bears repeating—being turned into a cyborg absolutely traumatized him, plus all the other times he’s been possessed/transformed/etc. but hopefully he can heal...

MAGOSUSIE!!! This is kind of a nostalgic ship for me, for a younger me, as of yet unaware of the phrase "shipping", looked at the two of them and thought it'd be so awesome if they kissed. Star Allies was an enabler.

God. God god god. I am so unokay about them. They are driving me insane and I wouldn't have it any other way. "Sworn Partners" Stars. They are in my head.

Beautiful, excellent. Metadede but goth and worse at communication. They might be a little bit doomed but maybe if they make out for long enough they won't be. I think DaMeta's really into Burade's stomach mouth.

They are actively making each other worse. Most Bad For Each Other version of Metadede and I am so here for it. They're going to die covered in each others blood and I will be on the sidelines cheering the entire time. No one is doing it like them and that's a good thing.

Beauty and the Beast, but it's Metadede?

Ohohoho-!! This one really got me thinking!! :D If I had unlimited emotional bandwidth and time this could be a fun concept to explore a BUNCH! I'm a sucker for fairy tales! I'm not capable of fully developing this idea right now, but I did brainstorm a little bit!

There's some aspects of that story that I just can't think of good parallels for (Like Gaston, Belle's dad, Belle's character motivations and such). So this is more Beauty and the Beast inspired than being a perfect retelling.

Anyways, ENOUGH TALK. LET'S GO.

So when I read this ask, I immediately got slammed with a very passionate and explosive Brain Blast: Dedede as Beast!! BUT he's got an appearance inspired by King D-Mind (And Dark Mind by extension) and a beastly demeanor like his Primal form in Forgotten Land. So this is not Shadow Dedede!! Important distinction!

Like Dedede's personality in early Kirby games, he would be selfish and arrogant enough to be cursed by an Enchantress to find true love and compassion. (So the rose and its petals are still connected to this curse's time limit.) But at his core there is a being capable of love, compassion, and self-sacrifice! It just takes a bit of character development to get there!

Meta stumps me a bit more. He doesn't strike me as the kind of guy singing about how "there must be more than this provincial life..." And who would Gaston even be?? Beats me.

So instead of being a damsel from a small town with big dreams, maybe he's some kind of traveling knight or mercenary who has always worked alone. He's got a stoic demeanor that can even come off as cold since he doesn't make many meaningful connections with others. But those walls he's put up over his life are indeed capable of coming down with a little care!

You'll also have to forgive me for how little I changed Meta's design... I did this during my lunch break and all I could think of was adding some gold flourishes to his outfit- but there is definitely more potential there than I came up with!!

Why would he get stuck being Dedede's prisoner? Perhaps he bartered someone else's imprisonment for his own. Or he found himself in debt by chance to the King, or accidentally disturbed/destroyed/or damaged something important to him and has to pay with a prison sentence.

Whatever the reason, he's truly stuck living there. And they super do not get along at first. Dedede's fiery temper and Meta's colder exterior would be at odds a lot of the time.

Jumping ahead a bit, here's that scene from the original where Beast defends Belle from a bunch of wild wolves (but here they're Primal Awoofies!)

And from there, the character development continues.... Meta warms up a little and shows more emotion and vulnerability than he ever has before. Dedede cools down in turn and learns that he is worthy of affection and genuine connection... And so on and so on~

As for the supporting character roles filled by "Beast's servants," I figure most of Kirby's allies could be in this role! I just only explored Bandee and Kirby to start with.

I had trouble coming up with household object forms for them (granted I didn't invest that much time into it). So I thought about another time-sensitive form they could take that is high-stakes enough that they'd want to turn back to normal and break the curse. So I came up with the ghostly angel form that happens when you get knocked out in Kirby Fighters. :)

So there you have it! A few days worth of daydreaming for a metadede Beauty and the Beast-type story! Hehe. If anyone happens to find themselves inspired and wants to develop this further as an exercise in AU writing or just plain having fun with it, DO IT! This is my donation to the internet, lol.

Meta Knight for the ask thing, please! He's my comfort character, I gotta know!

ah, meta knight. My one braincell latched onto him the first time I played Star Allies and now he's just a part of my life ^^

Sexuality hc: Gay and demiace. Demiace bc I make all my favorites some form of asexual, gay because HAVE YOU SEEN HIM.

otp: Metadede all the way baybee. They make me insane in a fun way. "Sworn Partners" shut uupppp <333 If they kiss on screen in a future game it'll still be less gay than Kirby Fighters 2.

brotp: Literally all of the Meta Knights. They are his friends and they love him and he loves them. Don't get me started on this because I will ramble for ages I love them so so much. ALSO. BANDEE. I love the parallels between them. They're father and son to me, and I think Meta's the one who best understands Bandee's desire to get stronger.

notp: Metasusie. Like, even without into the whole colonizer/colonized aspect of it, I just . . . don't think they could ever go farther than being acquaintances. Have you that "We will never be friends comic" that I can't find right now. That's their relationship to me.

first hc that pops into my head: SEVERE caffeine addict. He'll drink six cups of (extraordinarily sweet)coffee in a day and be falling asleep by evening because he usually has seven. It scares people.

favorite line: That line from the end of ROMK- "You are all about to perish, do as you please (I'm sorry . . .)" -Like. Holy Shit. How am I supposed to be normal about this. That's guilt, baby! He's guilty for leading his crew to what looks to be their deaths! He may put on a cool, apathic mask(sic), but underneath that he cares DEEPLY and this proves it. I'm insane.

one way I relate to this character: I too have a deep-seated love for both chocolate and medieval weaponry.

thing that gives me secondhand embarrassment: Genuinely can't think of anything- wait no the start of Amazing Mirror does it. Imagine getting your ass kicked by an uberemo version of you couldn't be me(it would, in fact, be me)

Cinnamon roll or problematic fav: I don't think either of these fit him. He's too universally loved for the second and the first is just flanderization. Yesn't
