Finished project.
I ended up having to make a custom conversion plate to account for the difference in scale length between a standard guitar and a baritone. Playing it took some getting used to, but I'm having fun with it.

Been building shit and playing a lot of electric guitar lately. I assumbled this telecaster from parts and threw this pedalboard together outta some pallet wood! Running the partscaster I assembled through it makes me feel incredibly capable and cool, and it feels good to have put together my whole semiprofessional rig with used gear and blind confidence.

I wanted a baritone guitar, but couldn't find one at the store. The obvious choice then was to just build one. The circuit is a nonstandard one uses a 4-way switch to get the three standard tele positions along with a treble-cut on the neck in the 4th position.
Overall, it was fun to build, and I'm enjoying playing it.

My 2014 PazCaster.
I assembled this guitar from a @maverick_guitar surf green thinline body, @lollarpickupsuk pickups, Fender hardware @allpartsmusic neck, custom pinstriping by @michaelsegui and a pinup decal of @thefugitive1984 that I made myself, because every guitar deserves a sexy pinup decal!
The strap was made in France, by my pal @tomsvintagestraps

What guitars and basses are being used on this tour? I like asking about stuff like this
Skylar's main guitar is a Fender partscaster Strat that she built herself. It's just got some Alnico 5 pickups in it, HSS. The backup strat is a 2000s-Era MIM Fender with Seymour Duncan mini hunbuckers in it.
Trent is on a Gibson Les Paul Studio running through a Vox AC30.
Raine is playing on a Music Man Stingray running through a Darkgass preamp.

my relationship with Being A Woman is so fucking weird because i don't know what makes me feel so detached. i don't know if it's:
having deconstructed Being A Woman fairly effectively in that knowing it's all just social markers (even the anatomical stuff, imho) but still being like "I Feel A Deep Yearning To Embody These Things"
describing my identity as a woman as "purely pragmatic" because i've dissected what being a woman means for me, like i don't pray for being more chesty and unlocking The Secret To Having A Husky Contralto
the state of being dysphoric and not having a lot of outlets to explore everything that's associated with women in my neck of the woods
people being Really Fucking Weird to transfems who don't read/come off as adequately womanly
me constantly denying myself the space and time to just Try On A Fucking Dress And Go Spinny. who cares if it aligns with "gendered stereotypes." the people loudest about that have kitschy pastel pink sailor moon blogs with their star signs in the bio.
but genuinely, i picked up this $800 partscaster at the local shop and played some sloppy indie-jazz on it through an old Fender Champ and holy fuck, i never felt more like a woman. granted, it was shell pink, and i wanted so bad for that to just be a coincidence, but i couldn't help but be like "this is the best sounding guitar in the shop and it's stereotypically girly."
i like to think that most women have kind of a fucked relationship with being women, honestly. it makes me less dysphoric.

My current project is a baritone telecaster. I more or less know what I want, and I'm waiting on the hardware to arrive.
The first 3 positions on the 4-way switch are the standard pickup arrangements. Position 4 is the treble cut from the "Blackguard" circuit. I couldn't find any pre-existing diagrams that quite fit, so i ended up drawing this based on what I've learned from modding.

^^^ very important additions! i'd never seen that full panel of the guitar and i'm floored that even the intonation on the bridge is correct
i am curious about the setup though, because only two dials for a HSH is odd. typically you'd have two tone dials and one master volume, but here there's only one tone
as for the weird whambucker thing, it could be another kind of humbucker or a specific brand name? like how seymour duncan offers "trembucker" pickups
rewatching DiU right now and they had no reason to go so hard with akira's (RHCP's user) guitar. why does this man have a hsh strat with a floyd rose bridge and locking nut. i know nobody cares but the attention to detail araki always puts not just into musical references but even actual instruments is amazing
#im delighted im not the only one who cares about this tbh#i built my guitar too (my partscaster is my baby) so i get very excited about instruments in animation#and this is hands down THE best depiction ever#thank you for your additions (i loved reading all of it)

AITA for stealing guitar parts from my ex?
Content warning for a mention of violent injury in the end, I don't go into detail except for some details on my recovery.
I (genderqueer, 15 when this happened) used to date this guy (m16) with anger issues from hell. Anger issues don't make someone a shitty person, but this guy would take it out on the nearest thing. Vases, walls, guitars, you name it. He came from money, so I guess he didn't learn how to treat his belongings right. While we were dating, he broke like 5 electric guitars. Decent ones, too.
I never saw him play a note on any of them, and his parents would always buy him a new one instead of repairing the broken. I come from a working class family. We had enough to eat and keep a roof over our heads, but money was tight a lot of the time. If I wanted a guitar, I would have had to save up for it.
By smashed guitar #2, I got an idea. I took it from the trash before I headed home and harvested the working parts. After guitar #4, all I needed was a neck. A lot of the time, the neck is what ends up snapping when you smash a guitar. It might have been wrong to steal the neck while he was sleeping and sneak out. I was sticking around just to complete my partscaster.
He did end up breaking my jaw over this, (his mom called the cops and paid for my hospital bills, it was brutal) but while my face was wired shut and I had to put all my food in a blender, I was practicing chords and riffs and shit on what I like to call the alimony guitar. That was the one good thing that came from that relationship. I only had to buy the strings and an amp.

i've been building partscasters for about a year now! i'm spewing thoughts about my guitar projects past my bedtime.
Upcoming:
Offset tele build for @sleepypianist, her husband is carving the body and I'm assembling the rest
Offset tele build for self- this will probably be me swapping my neck and hardware off my current partscaster for now, which leads to my next:
Tele build with old body- refin and full nocaster build? Chris Reynolds style?
Parts that are barking at me:
Full set of squier Tele hardware
30" Baritone neck
Lipstick pickup
Projects I'm interested in starting someday:
Cab build
Tube amp build
Solid state amp pedal build
