A patchwork quilt fit for a spring fairy picnic, with vintage floral fabric found at an antique shop. I finished this quilt top last spring. It only took me eight days to make, and then it took me another year to baste, hand quilt, and bind. Not that it actually took that long, it’s just that I kept putting it off for other projects. But such is how these things go sometimes!

I finished in May (2024) but I've been procrastinating uploading the pics here. Anyways, here it is, my BED-SIZED SHARK QUILT, approximately 4'x6' (1.2m x 1.8 m). Mixed machine and hand-stitching. Took me about six months to make.

Excess backing fabric and wadding trimmed away ✅️

All it needs now is binding!

The Five Year Quilt

I've been working on this quilt for about five years, on and off. I finished the top last year, and it's been sitting in my WIP pile ever since. Please pardon the wrinkles lmao. It's about 4 ft and 3 in on each side, and the patchwork was done entirely by hand (and handheld sewing machine). I'm hoping to make the backing soon (I don't have a piece of fabric big enough for the entire top, so I'm gonna have to Frankenstein it together) and finish the beast. I'm fairly certain I have some batting in my basement, so I don't have to worry about that.

Also pictured are my three favorite blocks! A Star of Bethlehem, a Penrose triangle, and an All Hallow's block, respectively

finished piecing my first quilt and dropped it off to be quilted today!

the act of creating this has been so rewarding. i’ve learned a lot, and i treasure every moment of hand sewing squares with my mum while listening to a spooky podcast.

overall, i’m very proud with how the top turned out and i cannot wait to see it done and to be able to use it!

Bonkers patchwork playmat I made for a friend's new baby. As with all my patchwork so far, this is entirely handmade and constructed from scrap fabric (old clothes, leftover from other projects, etc). It's a variation on this pattern from talesofcloth.

EPP patchworking is one of the most rewarding hobbies I know of. The barrier to entry in terms of cost is very low. Give it a go if you're in need of a relaxing activity!

After a setback with my own machine, (gotta love the snags that come with a 50 year old piece of equipment) I went over to my parents' house and borrowed my Dad's Singer to finish up the top! Just need to measure it and then I can buy the batting and backing, and it's off to the Guild to be quilted!

I'm so happy with how she looks, I really can't contain myself!
