AI: The ‘UroBot’ language model exceeds the accuracy of seasoned urologists

Scientists at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), in collaboration with the Urological Clinic of Mannheim University Hospital, have developed "UroBot," an AI-based chatbot designed to assist in urology.

UroBot accurately answered urology exam questions, surpassing both other language models and experienced urologists. It uses retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) to deliver precise, explainable answers based on current European urological guidelines. Tested on 200 questions, UroBot achieved an 88.4% accuracy rate, outperforming GPT-4 by 10.8 percentage points and exceeding the average performance of urologists (68.7%). The model's transparency, accuracy, and potential to assist in evidence-based care make it a valuable tool for improving medical decision-making. The research team has made UroBot's code available for further development in urology and other medical fields.

I GOT INTO THE PCMI UNDERGRADUATE SUMMER SCHOOL AHHHHH!!!!!!!!

I had to retake calc 3 four times after I had some pretty severe depression one semester... I had to retake intro statistics too. I literally thought I had no future in mathematics, especially with such a humanities and arts heavy background. I felt like my entire math journey was just one struggle after another. I was so scared that not a single summer program would accept me and I’d spend my summer at my school, where I have no research opportunities. I’ve had to overcome so much, commuting to school every day, traveling an hour away to another college to attend their lectures because my school doesn’t have any, etc. Never give up on your math dreams... just you wait, I’m gonna get that PhD one day!

Still waiting on the REUs, which are more important, but it’s my first acceptance of the season and just knowing I got into SOMETHING is just the best feeling ever 😭❤️

Explanation: What's happening behind those clouds? Although the scene may appear somehow supernatural, nothing more unusual is occurring than a Sun setting on the other side of the sky. Pictured here are anticrepuscular rays. To understand them, start by picturing common crepuscular rays that are seen any time that sunlight pours though scattered clouds. Now although sunlight indeed travels along straight lines, the projections of these lines onto the spherical sky are great circles. Therefore, the crepuscular rays from a setting (or rising) sun will appear to re-converge on the other side of the sky. At the anti-solar point 180 degrees around from the Sun, they are referred to as anticrepuscular rays. Featured here is a particularly striking display of anticrepuscular rays photographed in 2016 over Dry Tortugas National Park in Florida, USA.
