(Y/N) (L/N). You were a junior who recently transferred from a prestigious private academy from the countryside, but due to your parents getting excellent job offers in the city, you were forced to move. Not that you were complaining, you probably hated being around those snot-nosed rich kids that only hung around you to boost their status. It has only been a few months, but you felt at home in your new school more than you ever did in your previous one... and you've been studying there since elementary!
Perhaps it was because students in public school were less irritable and pretentious. Or maybe you were just that good with people. Either way, it was easy for you to get along with everyone. You were incredibly charming, funny, and so, so pretty. Nobody even dared to think that you do something evil, let alone think of it!
Everytime she sees you stride along the hallways with that cute smile on your face, Honda Hitomi just can't help but let her eyes linger on your figure. It didn't help that you smiled at everyone you recognized, so in the rare instances where you would look at Hitomi and flash her that hypnotizing grin, she absolutely swoons.
For example, right in this moment, Hitomi takes her eyes off of her locker to spare a glance to her side. As expected, you were making your way down the hallway, waving at a few acquaintances. Hitomi feels her heart melting when you help a timid freshman girl pick up her notebooks after bumping into a clumsy junior who didn't even apologize. Hitomi's cheeks becomes increasingly hot when your eyes briefly snapped up and met hers. She somehow convinced herself that she was imagining things, however.
Hallucinations, yes. Another one of the 'symptoms' that come with being hopelessly and utterly infatuated. And yes, Honda Hitomi can now admit that she has a humongous crush on you after weeks of denying it.
"Hii, there's ten days before Valentine's Day," Yabuki Nako, Hitomi's ever-so-reliable co-captain and childhood friend, says after noticing that Hitomi was once again distracted. There was a hint of annoyance in her tone, and the suggestion makes Hitomi raise an eyebrow towards her best friend. "You could do a lot leading up to that day other than just stare creepily from across the hallway." Nako says.
The smaller girl then tilts her head and grins when she sees you getting closer to them. Hitomi doesn't realize it since she now has her back turned to you, facing her menace of a best friend. "What, you want me to slip anonymous letters inside her locker and on Valentine's Day, reveal myself as her secret admirer and live happily ever after?" The head cheerleader asks with sarcasm. By no means did she ever insinuate that she hasn't thought of doing that ever, but a lot of things could go wrong!
Hitomi isn't exactly the most discreet person in the world, so she had no doubts that you would catch after the first letter. Plus, it's cheesy and old-school. Aren't people expecting a lot from others nowadays whenever Valentine's Day comes around? I can do better, probably.
"That's a cute idea. Do it," Speaking of you, you stopped right beside Hitomi, wearing your heart-fluttering smile and all. The head cheerleader nearly jumps out of her skin, and Nako lets out a barely suppressed laugh when she saw how much her best friend flinched. "Who is it for? I could lend a hand if you want." You leaned closer to Hitomi with shining, eager eyes, completely oblivious that she was a mess beneath her seemingly calm exterior.
Hitomi chuckles awkwardly and shoots a look that screamed 'help' towards her best friend, but Nako ignores her intentionally, being the Devil's spawn that she is. "N-No one in particular. It was just... an idea." The head cheerleader blurted out, leaning towards her locker and creating some distance between the two of you before your fresh, cool scent started clouding every corner of her brain.
You pursed your lips, "Ah, top secret information. Got it." You joked. You then turned to Nako and started chatting about your history class that the two of you shared together. Hitomi releases a shaky sigh of relief and pretended to be busy with her locker. It was clean and well-organized, but she can't just walk away. From you of all people!
Hitomi briefly looks over her shoulder and smiles at the way you and Nako got along so well. A month or two ago, she would have been extremely jealous, but that was because she didn't understand her feelings yet and was threatened by everybody, even her own best friend. But Nako herself assured Hitomi that she would never make a pass on you. Mostly because she was into this one cool senior, Choi Yena, but also because it's a 'best friend thing'.
Perhaps if Hitomi had any courageous bone inside of her, she would be the one animatedly chatting to you right now. And that would still be a bit much for her because she just can't seem to look into your eyes for a minute before feeling tingles all over her body. Crushes were a pain sometimes, but goodness did Hitomi like it.
"Oh, that reminds me. Hitomi," The head cheerleader blushes hard at the sound of her name leaving your lips. Nako smirks, oh how she loved seeing her best friend so weak and helpless over a crush. It was adorable. "If you don't mind, me and some buddies of mine in the newspaper club will crash in on your practice later. Our... leader wants to make a huge piece or whatever for the upcoming championships, so she wants us to take pictures of the cheer team." You said, scratching your head.
"That's okay." Hitomi replies simply. Nako cringes at the lack of enthusiasm in her best friend's part, but she makes up for it with a kind smile towards you.
"Awesome! See you both later then." You pat Hitomi and Nako on the shoulder before going on your merry way. As usual, Hitomi stares at your leaving figure, still lovestruck.
"I can't believe (Y/N) knows my name, Nako. Can you believe that?" Hitomi says, leaning dramatically on her locker and sighing dreamily. She couldn't help but grin when she spots you fooling around with Kim Chaewon, your fellow newspaper club member, in the distance.
Nako rolls her eyes, "Yes. You're both attending the same school and you share a few extracurriculars together. Also, you're the main bitch in this joint." She deadpanned.
"I am so not. Stop saying that. If anything, you're the one who has everyone completely wrapped around her finger." Hitomi closes her locker. She never liked being seen as the 'queen' of the school just because she was the captain of the cheer team. That is such a stereotype.
"Correct. And now, I have decided to use my many connections to my advantage." Nako says with pride, and a smirk that definitely screamed that she had an ulterior motive Hitomi squints, suspicious of what her best friend might be hinting. She shrugs it off however, and the two of them happily skip together towards their next class.
~
Honda Hitomi. The popular sophomore exchange student from Japan who was amazing enough to earn the title of head cheerleader a few months into her career in the school. You heard a lot of good things about her during your own time in the school, but you wanted to see it for yourself. However, you just never found an opportunity to be friends with her.
You could get along with even the coldest of hearts in the school; a prime example would be Kim Chaewon. She used to give you blank stares and a cold shoulder, but now you were practically joined by the hip. Even the most closed-off people like that quiet senior Kang Hyewon has a soft spot for you, but somehow, you just can't figure out Hitomi. You can clearly see that she was nice, and the complete opposite of how the cheerleaders in your old school were, but you wanted to see if there was more.
Plus, Honda Hitomi was adorable. It couldn't hurt to try and see if your charms work on the most popular kid in the school!
"Are you sure you're not crushing on her?" Chaewon asks when she catches you smiling towards Hitomi's, and Nako's, way. It wasn't the first time she has asked that question, so you should probably be thinking if you actually were.
But, as always, you shake your head, "I want to be friends, that's all." You replied.
Chaewon continues to stare at you, trying her hardest to see if she can slip inside the smallest of cracks in the strong walls you've built around yourself, just so she can take a look at what's going on in your wonderful brain. When she doesn't see any openings, she sighs, defeated.
You keep your eyes on Hitomi's leaving figure and think to yourself; if you did have feelings for her and pursued it, how well would it have turned out? You never liked anyone seriously before, they were mostly just fleeting, one-second attractions, but maybe if it were towards Hitomi, you can take your feelings seriously and see where it leads.
You blink, surprised at your thoughts, then you laughed at yourself. No way.
~
"What do you mean the boys' volleyball team will be sharing our space with us?"
Hitomi clutches Nako's sleeve in an attempt to hold her back from literally jumping their innocent coach. The vice captain was barely able to dodge a volleyball coming towards her way, and she glares at the boys on the other side of the giant gymnasium.
After school hours is when club activities are to operate, and sports teams are supposed to have their own place where they practice whatever they do. The soccer team occupies a field, the football team occupies another field, and the same goes for other teams. Of course, the cheer team gets their own place and it happens to be the biggest one in the school: the main gymnasium where most pep rallies are located. But, as everyone in the cheer team is now aware of, a problem has risen.
"Their gym is closed for renovations, Nako, and I promise you it is only for this week! Just get through it for a few more days and you will all have your precious gym back." Coach Hana said, pinching the bridge of her nose to ease her growing stress. She loved her girls, she really did, but sometimes things were a bit... chaotic. Especially when someone as passionate, to say the least, as Nako loses it.
"This week? Coach, you know how important this week is to us! Hii, tell her we can't afford any interruptions or distractions because we're gonna be competing for a national trophy." Nako nudges her best friend, her anger still burning hot. Coach Hana looks at the captain, and so does everyone else. Even the captain of the boys' volleyball team had his eyes on the cheerleader, half expecting to be kicked out of the gymnasium.
The sound of the doors opening and closing catches Hitomi's attention and she turns her head to see who would come inside in such a crucial time. When she sees you, Chaewon, and some other girls from the newspaper club, her worry disperses. You wave at Hitomi as you sat down on the bleachers, your camera sitting quietly on your lap. Hitomi smiles at you, but is immediately pulled back into the main problem by Nako.
"W-We can... deal with it," Hitomi says, erupting a collection of groans, protests, and sighs from her team. Nako stares at her best friend, asking for more explanation. "They won't bother us, and they're not even taking up half of the space in here right now. We can still do our usual thing without any one of them intervening."
When the entire team was completely silent, Coach Hana claps her hands, "Okay! Now that that problem's solved, how about you all change out of your school uniforms and get on with your warmups? We just wasted about twenty minutes worth of practice." The coach ushers the team into the changing room, ignoring Nako's annoyed look.
"Thank you for taking care of that, Hitomi. I know this is a pain for you too, and I apologize. The girls' team are pretty possessive of their space and I just couldn't say no to those boys." Coach Hana said, patting her head cheerleader at the back.
Hitomi shakes her head, "It's alright, coach. I'll get changed now."
Before the captain enters the changing room, however, she steals another glance at your direction. You were distracted by the boys' volleyball team, and your mouth was hanging open, amazed. Hitomi pouts a little, deciding to take your breath away with what her and her girls have been practicing for the past few weeks.
Honda Hitomi strides inside the changing rook with a proud smile and she pats Nako's rear as she comes close, startling the smaller girl. "Let's do well today, yeah?" The head cheerleader says. She then does a spin as she pulls at her bow tie.
"What's got you so giddy?" Lee Chaeryeong, another sophomore, asked.
Nako smirks, "It's because her girlfriend is out there right now." She teased. The rest of the team gasp, making Nako laugh hysterically. They all knew Hitomi had a certain attraction towards you, because who wouldn't? You were practically an eye magnet, and boy, were you one hell of an eye magnet... but that's not important. Honda Hitomi was never known for being the cheerleader that likes this or that person. That was Nako, actually.
So hearing that Hitomi was actually serious about her crush on you, it was only expected for the team to be in over their heads about it. As dramatic as that was.
"It better be (Y/N). Chaewon's already got her heart full." Kim Minju, yet another sophomore in the team, quips from the other side of the room. Minju was what people would call the 'face' of this school. She was so incredibly pretty that her popularity exceeds some well-known Instagram models! Hitomi remembers just how boys, and girls but mostly boys, were going crazy over her when they were freshmen but then Minju enters sophomore year with some fresh new bangs and a girlfriend, and suddenly order was restored in the hallways because then boys stopped crowding around Minju's locker.
It was understandable. Nobody wants to be on the receiving end of Kim Chaewon's anger. I wouldn't want to be the one trying to get her come to her senses either. Thank goodness Minju cuffed her when she did.
"Minju, you should be worried about me stealing your girlfriend, not Hii." Nako jokes... or was she? She clearly had the power and charm to do it. Hitomi fears for the day Nako actually loses her mind, goes off the rails, and makes a move on someone's girlfriend. I'm gonna be the one cleaning up her mess. I just know it.
"I thought you only had eyes for Choi Yena?" Chaeryeong asked, now fully changed into her cheerleader uniform. She looked regal, as always.
Nako shrugs, "I have two hands." She barely dodges the stray volleyball sitting around in the changing room thrown weakly by a laughing Minju.
More than happy that the attention is off of her, Hitomi decided to join the fun, "What is the situation between the two of you? I feel like you've been playing this... tug of war since forever." She can't even remember when this whole game of push-and-pull started! Maybe it's time they take each other seriously.
Nako grins, hues of pink evident in her cheeks, "We're getting there. I mean, we're still... talking but... oh my God, okay. Last night, she took me out on a walk by Han River and... we kissed."
The team squeals and shares a fit of giggles, lightly hitting Nako and pulling her for more information. Hitomi slips inside her shirt before forcing Nako to face her, "That's a huge step, are you serious? Ask her out! Like, for real!"
"What?! No! N-Not yet! It's too soon," Nako gently pushes her best friend away. For a brief second, she actually looked conflicted and vulnerable, but then she grins devilishly. "But how soon is after practice?"
The girls freak out again and they started sharing ideas as to where Nako should take her and how she should approach 'the whole thing'. Hitomi always loved whenever they come together as a team. Whether it was through moving as one during performances or knowing what someone is thinking about before they say it or even planning dates together, Hitomi will always feel proud. Although sometimes it does get really ridiculous. Didn't we plan on burning a misogynistic senior's car once?
Three loud knocks echoed throughout the changing room, "We're losing our precious practice time, girls! Come on!" Coach Hana yells from the other side.
The girls who were finished changing skips out of the room, excitedly to finally get moving. Hitomi and Nako slowly trail behind Chaeryeong and Minju while pulling their hair up in a neat ponytail. (Yes, at the same time. And yes, in synch.)
"Try not to get distracted by (Y/N)'s awesomeness and have a ball hit your pretty face, okay, Hii-chan?" Nako teased, and she earns nothing but a scoff and another playful hit in the butt before they started running and chasing each other around, to which their coach scolds them for.
~
The sound of Chaewon giggling snaps you out of your daydream, and you turn to her, wondering what got her smiling so big. You followed her loving gaze and your eyes land on one Kim Minju who was shooting finger hearts towards her girlfriend's direction. You smiled softly, the sight of the cutest couple in the school looking hopelessly in love with each other was always a treat to witness.
"Right. We're here because of that," Chaewon sighs in defeat when she spots you raising your camera. You have already taken a few photos of the cheer team and the volleyball team, although you had no idea these two teams were put in the same bubble all of a sudden. "Alright. You and the others handle the photos because you are all amazing, and I'll deal with the interrogation." The short-haired junior says, leaning back and once again staring at her girlfriend.
"You're lucky your duties cut you some slack. You know it hurts to look through some lenses for long periods of time?" You asked, snapping a photo of one of the volleyball guys jumping for a spike.
Chaewon scoffs, "(Y/N), I have to talk to people. That's not exactly easy for me either." She replied, to which you respond with a roll of your eyes before busying yourself with your job.
You, and the rest of your small team, spent the rest of your time in the gymnasium chatting about school, classes, and of course, whatever came up at the moment. Chaewon never took her eyes off Minju, unless she spared a glance your way to see if you were staring at Hitomi again.
Unfotunately for Chaewon, most of the time, you were focused on taking photos. But then she finally catches you, and she was convinced that everything you told her about not crushing on Hitomi was bullshit. The way you looked at Hitomi told Chaewon something. That perhaps you weren't made of stone.
You gently rested your camera on your lap once again and took a sip of the soda sitting by your feet. Chaewon tilts her head and poked your arm. When you looked at her, she was wearing a teasing smile and you just knew you were in for a round of joking about your feelings towards one Honda Hitomi.
"Kim Chaewon, if you don't stop asking me if I have a crush on Hitomi, I actually might catch feelings for her." You said. If you did, you wouldn't be completely against it. Because, again, you do think that Hitomi was freaking cute and dating her would be awesome! It was just a little bit of an abstract image in your head because you were you and Hitomi was Hitomi.
Yeah, that makes so much sense.
"I didn't say anything." Chaewon turns away from you with a victorious smile, happy that she struck the right nerve. You shake your head, but you continued on watching the cheer team do their thing. You've already taken so much pictures anyway, it was a good time to take a short break.
In the hallways, Honda Hitomi does a good enough job of blending in the crowd and trying her hardest to not be too noticeable, but in the gym, wearing the cheerleading uniform that fit her way too well, and with her team, she was like a completely different person. Like a switch was turned and suddenly she was so... breathtaking.
Okay, maybe that wasn't the exact word but Hitomi knew how to catch a crowd's attention with her expressions, and you always found yourself amazed every time she does something! You've been to a few pep rallies and Hitomi did not only pull all of your attention to her just because she was the head cheerleader and she was meant to have most of the time attention, but also because she was just simply a good performer. And you respected that!
She really is so cool.
When Hitomi looks over her shoulder after a discussion with Coach Hana, her gaze meets yours. You froze for a brief second, and maybe another half second because it surprised you that Honda Hitomi could make you feel surprised in the first place, then you flashed her a smile and a heart, for some reason. Hitomi grins and blows a kiss before joining her team.
"Oh my God," Chaewon laughs, slapping your arm. You covered your face in your hands as you laughed along. "Did you two just flirt? Out in the open? And you call me and my Minju shameless?"
You grab your camera again, "Well, me and my Hitomi don't make out by my locker for God-knows-how-long and get scolded by some faculty for feeling each other up in the darkest corners of the library." You blurted out in frustration.
A whole minute of silence passes and you finally realized what you just said.
"Your Hitom--"
"Oh, do your work already, Kim Chaewon!"
~
Cheer practice has officially concluded for the day, and Hitomi was more than ready to hop on to her shower at home and daydream about you while she watches romcom movies from the 90s. She tried to get rid of that weird-almost-creepy habit, but sometimes, escaping from the reality of her situation gave her comfort. Even if her ways were... strange.
"Hii-chan," Nako calls out in a sing-songy voice. Minju and Chaeryeong trail behind her, engrossed in their own conversation. "We're planning on getting some ice cream after all of this, wanna come? I do hate for you to lose those precious three hours of thinking about (Y/N) while staring at nothing but I gotta admit, it's getting old and a little obssessive-ish." The vice captain says in one breath and not one beat missed.
"Oh, shut it, Miss I-See-Choi-Yena-In-My-Dreams," Hitomi bites back, making Nako turn her head away from embarrassment. "But no, I can't. I have this assignment I need to do for my math class." The head cheerleader sighs deeply. She wondered if she was ever going to get a time where she can just not worry about schoolwork every time she comes home from cheer practice. Highly impossible, but she likes to imagine.
"That's too bad. Have fun, then." Nako said in the flattest tone Hitomi has ever heard from a human being. The four of them then start making their way back inside the changing room to grab their bags, but of course, you catch all of Hitomi's attention once again.
You were descending from the bleachers with your fellow photographers and you had a bright smile on your face as you chatted with them. One of the things Hitomi liked so much about you is the way you treated everyone like a friend. She will never forget how comfortable she was with you when you first met. It was in an impromptu afternoon assembly and you deliberately sat beside her and talked with her as if you have been friends forever. Hitomi remembers being absolutely awestruck because the rumors were true; you really are prettier up close.
And apparently even more within kissing distance but it's not like I will ever find that out, haha.
"Did you do the thing we told you to do?" Minju asked.
Hitomi blushes at the reminder of that brief moment earlier, "Y-Yes." She said.
"So? How did (Y/N) react?" Chaeryeong pulls the three girls to the side as some members of the team started coming out of the changing room and bid their goodbyes.
Hitomi looks at you again, a fond look adorning her features, "I didn't see, but it felt great to act on my feelings, even just a little bit." Your eyes find the cheerleader's again, and you wave at her. And perhaps it was once again Hitomi's imaginations but she couldn't miss how one of your eyes closed, and it essentially looked like you winked at her.
Judging by how quickly you got shy right after, it was indeed not just one of Hitomi's hallucinations. The head cheerleader takes a minute to process your actions and by the end of her revelation, Honda Hitomi becomes a blushing mess.
"Oh, God. Is this how Chaewon and I acted like when we were still in denial?" Minju says, laughing at how Hitomi suddenly couldn't function properly.
"Yes, and this would be me and Yena if we weren't confident of ourselves and hung out every chance we got." Nako shivers at the thought of longing gazes and secret mutual pining, because the Yabuki Nako doesn't roll like that!
"Let's stop picking on our poor Hitomi and get changed out of our sweaty cheer outfits, okay?" Chaeryeong, bless her heart, opens the door to the changing room and ushers the girls inside. Minju immediately enters, but not before waving at her girlfriend. Nako grabs Hitomi's arm and pulls her along, but Hitomi was suddenly made of stone because she wouldn't budge.
"Oh, Hii, don't be do dramatic now. It was a wink, you'll survive. Maybe not a kiss though because I heard from a friend of a friend that (Y/N) (L/N) is one hell of a kisser." Nako tugs harder on her best friend's arm, but she wasn't strong enough to pull her completely because Hitomi almost trips over her own feet.
Chaeryeong groans at the best friends' antics, but then her eyes widen when she spots an object hurling towards Hitomi at an alarming speed. Oh, God, Honda Hitomi was going to die right before her eyes.
"Hitomi, watch out!" Chaeryeong screams, but to no avail. The volleyball hits Hitomi square in the face before it launches itself in the air upon impact and finally falls on the floor. The whole gymnasium went silent, and surprisingly, Hitomi was as well. A sane person would have been screaming in agony, but Hitomi only blinked her eyes open.
The head cheerleader slowly starts feeling pain collecting towards the center of her face and... something drips from her nose. She wipes it with the back of her hand, and at the sight of her own blood, her eyes almost fall out of their sockets.
"Ow."
— was what Honda Hitomi could say before collapsing in her best friend's arms.
~
"I mean, that's gotta hurt, right? Right on her beautiful nose? I hope it's not broken," Chaewon was surprisingly talkative all of a sudden. The two of you were making your way back to the newspaper club's room, and Kim Minju was tagging along because of course she would want to walk with her girlfriend right after club activities. You should probably get used to it now, but everytime she lingers near, you can't help but constantly stare. Everyone was right. Kim Minju's beauty is out of this world, holy shit. "(Y/N), are you okay?"
Chaewon and Minju were looking at you, one was mildly concerned and the other just realizing you were even there. You merely nodded, not feeling like talking at the moment. You wondered if it would be okay for you to just leave these two alone and go somewhere else, but then the club leader would ask questions about your whereabouts and you just can't have Chaewon deal with that by herself. So you stay with the couple but the closer the three of you got to the newspaper club's room, the more you wanted to turn back.
"You know you can check on Hitomi if you really want to, right?"
Your heads snap up and your eyes meet Minju's. There was a certain glint there that you saw, and that made you slowly raise an eyebrow. Chaewon was grinning, the couple was on the same wavelength. Bewildered, you pointed at yourself, "M-Me?" You had asked, genuinely confused.
Minju nods, "Yeah. You're worried about her, aren't you? It was your little wink that turned her into a rock so technically you're the reason she's in the infirmary right now." The sophomore says without much regard.
Chaewon's smile drops and she laughs awkwardly, "What Minju is trying to say is that we won't jump you for caring about Hitomi, and you can totally get rid of us if you want to see her." Your fellow junior nudges her girlfriend in the arm, silently scolding her.
You laugh at them both and wave a single hand, "I was actually scared that I might have left one of the cameras in the gym, but I guess I can check on Hitomi on the way." It was the truth, but you were actually worried about the head cheerleader as well. You wouldn't be surprised if she was concussed; boys can be pretty cruel in sports.
The couple starts walking away from you, ushering you to go to the infirmary immediately while they giggled their way inside another hidden corner of the school to do who-knows-what. You shake your head, at least you won't be around to see whatever they do. You started walking back to where you came from, happily whistling a tune.
I wonder if she's awake now.
~
Honda Hitomi felt like she was dreaming, or maybe she was dead. She couldn't tell the difference, but everything was blurry as she slowly comes to her senses. At least she recognized that she was laying in one of the beds in the infirmary. What she did not recognize was the head floating in front of her. She tries, really tries, to blink a few times and hopefully gain her normal vision back, but God her head hurt like hell. So she says the name of the first and only person she could think of at the moment.
"(Y/N)?"
The girl in front of her laughs, "Yes, Hii. It's me." She says. Hitomi smiles, content and ready to fall back asleep as her beloved crush was right there to watch over her, but then she remembers that only one person in the world calls her 'Hii'.
Hitomi was suddenly wide awake and she pushes her best friend's face away, "Ugh, Nako!" She whined. She hears another girl giggling from the door, and it was Chaeryeong who had been patiently waiting for Hitomi to wake up, being the big softie she always has been.
"I'm a little hurt that you would prefer to see your crush over your very own best friend, but since you almost just died, I'll look the other way." Nako sits down on the nurse's rolling chair, slides right beside the bed Hitomi was laying on before placing a milk juice box and Hitomi's favorite bread down on the table next to the bed. Chaeryeong made sure to run to the nearest convenience store as fast as she could to get her fellow cheerleader's comfort food. What would the team ever do without her?
"How long was I knocked out?" Hitomi asked, her hand blindly reaching for the milk. She didn't feel like raising her head even once inch off the pillow, afraid of feeling like the world was spinning and throwing up at the comfortable bed.
"It's been about half an hour since you got spiked in the face," Chaeryeong was now standing at the end of the bed, her arms crossed and her face filled with worry. Hitomi weakly waves at her as she sips on the milk. Her nose was throbbing real bad, she didn't even know if she could sit up, let alone walk out of the infirmary! "Nako and I made sure that the idiot that hit you will clean the gym for as long as his team is staying there." Oh, she was as terrifying as she was kind. Lee Chaeryeong truly is an interesting one.
Hitomi sighs as she sinks her head further into the pillow. She was annoyed that this happened because this means that she was probably going to have to sit out of practice for days, and she really can't afford to have breaks in such a crucial time of the year for the cheer team. Hitomi couldn't bring herself to blame you (because you were (Y/N), you probably didn't even mean to take her breath away with your natural appeal), or the boy that hit her with the volleyball (because it was probably just an accident), and so she blames herself.
If we lose this competition because I had to ogle at who might possibly the biggest catch in this school at the worst time, I will literally never forgive myself... and I'll probably spend my whole life apologizing to Sakura. Our former captain who trusted me with so much but here I am in the infirmary with a fucked-up nose, drinking milk—
"Hii, you have a visitor."
Nako pulls Hitomi out of the dark side of her brain, and Hitomi forces herself to raise her head just a little and look past Chaeryeong. Standing by the door she sees you, wearing a timid smile and holding what seems to be a duplicate of the milk the cheerleader herself was drinking at the moment. Hitomi almost chokes on her drink upon your sudden appearance. If Nako planned all of this... then I'm sorry to my middle school self but I am going to have to kill my best friend.
"Hi. I just... wanted to check in and see if you're okay, Hitomi," You said as you walked closer. Soon enough, you were standing right beside Chaeryeong, who was painfully awkward. Nako cleared her throat and muttered something about giving you and Hitomi 'some space' before dragging Chaeryeong away and closing the curtains. You and Hitomi were officially alone, and goodness was the cheerleader a mess inside. "Oh, would you look at that. I got you the exact same drink." You walked closer to the table and placed the juice box there.
Hitomi felt like her limbs were suddenly coated with cement; she was so, so stiff. It's like she didn't know how to function as a human being anymore. There has never been a moment where it was just you and her together. Not even an incident where the two of you got stuffed inside a locker together, even when Nako had plans for it! Hitomi prayed that you would at least get the signal and initiate the conversation, but for the first time in her life, she wanted to do something.
Even earlier in the gym, it was her fellow cheerleaders that told her that if the opportunity strikes, she should blow you a kiss. And Hitomi did it but as good as it felt, she didn't do it because she wanted to. Her friends pushed her to do it, so it doesn't count. Hitomi senses that you were also getting awkward and was probably planning on leaving as quickly as you came, and she felt that she had to do something about that.
She wanted to spend time with you and get to know you. Not (Y/N), the coolest transferee anyone has ever met but whatever was inside. When it turns out that (Y/N) was being herself this whole time, this entire monologue will be super embarrassing... but there's only one way to find out.
"S-Sorry you had to see me like that," The cheerleader said. Probably not the best approach to this whole thing but hey, I started something! Hitomi slowly sits up, completely disregarding how much her entire head hurt. She laughs a little when you reach out to her in an attempt to help her. "How... how did you like our routine?" Hitomi looks up from her lap, and she felt like passing out once again when she sees that you have been staring at her the entire time.
"It was... innovative. Coach Hana said you and Nako contributed a lot to the choreography. You're awesome, Hitomi." You inched closer to the bed, and the cheerleader notices that your smile was a little different. You looked... shy, and cuter than usual. Hitomi bites her lower lip, excited as she has never seen this side of you before. The thought of herself being the cause of it made her even more giddy.
"Chaewon didn't get to interview the team, I assume?" Hitomi completely turns her body towards you so that her legs were hanging off to the side of the bed. You shook your head, suddenly unable to find any words in you to reply properly. (What was happening to you? Maybe you were thinking of Hitomi too much on the way to the infirmary that you started... seeing her in a different light.) "Then can I expect to see you in tomorrow's practice? I'll make sure to not get hit in the face this time so the newspaper club can have some material before the competitions start." The cheerleader was only half aware of the implications she was blurting out, but you found it cute.
(You weren't a complete hopeless case, and you certainly were not a stranger to flirting. Although right now you weren't sure if Hitomi, who was usually so quiet around you, has finally realized that you were just another student in the school or if she was still delirious from losing so much blood. Still, you couldn't help but be drawn to her. She was too darn adorable.)
You flashed the cheerleader a grin, "What is this? Did Nako's daily goal of being a menace to the society rub off on you? I never really saw you as the initiator type, Hii."
Hitomi tries her best to not make it obvious how much her heart did turns and somersaults after hearing you call the one nickname that only Nako was allowed to refer to her as. I guess I can add (Y/N) to that very short list now. Sorry, Nako. "I think I've liked you for so long I'm actually starting to go a little crazy because you're just so... gorgeous."
"You're lying. You like me? The Honda Hitomi has feelings for plain old (Y/N)?" You asked in complete disbelief. (You weren't trying to look dumb. You actually had no idea. There were a lot of people that were shy around you more than the amount of people who felt at home with you! Oh my goodness, does that mean a third of the school has a crush on me? Wait, focus on Hitomi, (Y/N)!)
The head cheerleader does nothing but nod, and she hoped that the sincere look in her eyes were enough to make you believe her. When Hitomi noticed that blood has crept up your face, she laughs. Oh, you were so endearing to her. She couldn't help but take your hand in hers and hold them tightly. A few hours ago, she wouldn't need to get spiked in the face, as described by Chaeryeong, to pass out as your mere presence would have done the job just like that, but it was truly fascinating how determination can push someone to do unimaginable things. Now maybe that was a little dramatic in Hitomi's case but she has never come this close before!
Hitomi pulls on your hands to bring you closer, "I know this is a bit of a whiplash since... I only ever say two, maybe three if I somehow learn to be immune to your beauty for a minute, words at max whenever you're around but... (Y/N), you are everything but plain and... I've liked you for a long time. I-I just wanted to say."
Upon your lack of response, Hitomi was starting to think that maybe it was a bad idea to let her heart handle things. But then you intertwine your fingers together, and you lean close. Every drop of confidence Hitomi had built up inside herself suddenly disappears and she was once again a stone statue. How could she not be?! You were going to kiss her!
The cheerleader's heart drops to her stomach when you stop halfway. You blinked, "S-Should I kiss you right now? Isn't your nose kinda broken? I'd hate to hurt you. Plus, Nako and Chaeryeong are waiting for you outs—"
"Oh, just kiss her already, Hii-chan!!"
Hearing her best friend's request, Hitomi gently cups your cheeks with her hands and presses her lips on yours. A wave of relief wash over Hitomi's senses when you reciprocate her kiss, making her less of a statue but more of a... tree swaying gently as the wind passes by. She didn't know if that was the exact comparison she should use, she couldn't think clearly! This was everything she was waiting for in her high school career!
"Ten days before Valentine's," You laughed against the cheerleader's lips. Hitomi's heart melts into a puddle when you absentmindedly drew patterns on the back of her waist. "You just couldn't wait, hm?"
Hitomi shakes her head and she leans close again, and she should've known that you would look even more like a dream up close, a dream that isn't so much of a dream now, "No, but I also have been waiting for too long, wouldn't you say?" She rests her forehead against yours for a bit, before she succumbs to what her heart wants and kisses you again.
Yup. A dream turned into reality. Everything I wanted.
~
"I told you Hii would get a valentine before Valentine's." Nako smiles proudly. She has been watching her best friend pine for you for months too long, so Hitomi's victory felt like hers too!
"Well, what about you? Still planning on making Yena yours for real?" Chaeryeong asked. She pulls out two milk juice boxes from her bag. She planned on giving them to Hitomi just in case she craved for more, but now she felt like sharing it with Nako instead. After all, Hitomi has her own girl to share milk juice boxes with now.
"Of course." Nako happily accepts one of the milk, once again excited at the thought of spending another night with the woman who has her whole heart.
Chaeryeong finds joy in seeing her friends succeed with their love life, so much so that she felt like she didn't need her own. Not now anyway. "Cheers, then." She said, bumping her box with Nako's.
"Cheers, indeed."

Hiiii, could you explain what’s happening with izone?
basically, after p101 pd confessed to manipulating votes in p48 and x101, a lot of netz are bashing izone and x1, and some are even saying x1 members deserved it but izone didn’t deserve to debut. some petty ass person decided it would be a good idea to release the real pd48 votes on the day of izone comeback (petty af)
adults are hiding behind children and broadcasting companies are discussing if they will air izone. mlt confirmed to edit out izone and yujin even after receiving many donations and increased ratings because of wizones. starship ceo being investigated so knetz are going after yujin and wonyoung and saying they learned very very very in advance because yujin rapped well in front of teachers
comeback is delayed (good call tbh to protect the girls mental health) and albums are being refunded even though we were able to reach 112k presales (boy group level tbh). wizones on twitter are actively trying to clear naver searches and send good vibes to izone members
some fans are most worried abt yujin bc she is a sensitive 16yo. being taken out of mlt after being called their daughter, getting hate about pd48 because of their ceo. to top it off, right before news broke out, she sent a pm saying she was excited to show us good things on the 11th...

i have a confession
i used to be confused between Yena and Yuri. Also Nako and Hitomi. And (i'm stupid, i know.) Hyewon amd Eunbi (La Vie En Rose era). If you're a new fan and didn't watch pd48, you'll understand.

random wizone confession! at first I didn't like Minju when I was watching Produce48. But now once I have seen her progress and personality in Izone Chu, I love her.
that’s totally fine! im sure a lot of wizones have had their opinions change a lot since pd48 days (esp since it’s really easy to tunnel vision on your favs). we (admins) are so proud of her for improving since pd48 days, and her personality is super loveable 🤧🤧🤧- june (joyuls)

#247. “I am so disappointed with the 2nd elimination results ranking or whatever. Kaeun’s rank dropped drastically. Sakura is 7th?? Jang wonyoung is first now? Lmao what a mess. I swear yall let the lackluster ones get all the votes when we have miyu who is 10x more talented than jwy at 30th. Rubbish.”

#357. “I'm so shocked about Heo Yunjin's impressive musical theatre background back when she was in the US!! and how she is professionally trained for opera.. The fact that she did not boast about this on the show, she didn't even once talk about it.... she is such a humble kid. if her musical theatre experience was highighted in one of the episodes, she would have easily gotten the main vocal title. EASILY. but no. YUNJIN WANTED TO START FROM THE BOTTOM. I LOVE HER.”

#372. “I Am team is just a whole mess. Kicking out their best dancer (who also happened to be one of their stronger vocals) and then switching center to Ahn Yujin who has the stiffest facial expressions out of the whole group. It's no wonder the people who were in the audience said they had the most underwhelming performance. They pretty much set themselves up for failure.”
