Gay men do not pose the same threat as lesbians do, given it is women who are the means of reproduction (both sexual and social). Therefore, most ideological pressure to conform sexually is put onto women. Gay men don’t escape societal coercion, but it is women who are targeted most, particularly during our fertile years when we can be sexually reproductive. It should be no surprise that most women trying to escape that pressure cooker by ‘transitioning’, or calling themselves queer, are under the age of 40 i.e within their fertile years. In contrast most men who ‘transition’ or identify as women are typically heterosexual and middle-aged. Having already had a wife and children, they now want to enjoy their autogynephilic fetish whilst their children’s mother gets on with the washing and cleaning. Any men, at any time of life, can expect a household servant and free babysitter, whether it’s their wives or mothers. Men’s domestic and sexual freedoms remain uncurtailed throughout their lives. No one blinks when a man like Philip Schofield ‘comes out’ at age 58 after talking to teenage boys on social media. No one claimed Schofield cannot really be gay because he was married to a woman and they had several children together. No one finds implausible that a decorated male Olympic athlete may reinvent himself as a woman at age 65. Men are the masters of their own sexual subjectivity and meaning.
Jen Izaakson is a lesbian feminist and Marxist. Jen has just completed a PhD thesis on the question of ideology and indeterminacy in Freud and Queer Theory.

For once a motorsports-related governing body has done the right thing in ditching Jack Nicholls.
I’m glad he’s gone, but I’m just overwhelmingly disappointed that we live in a world where this still happens so often.
Please, men, do better.

Schofield? Schmofield. 😏 (& the same to everyone obsessed by his sex life. 😏)
Yes. well, as I've said on quite a number of occasions to various people, all this celebrity stuff, in particular, is for the birds. I know I've said "for the birds" quite a few times recently, I think. But pretty much all celebrity stuff, is for me now, in particular celebrity sex scandals, or pseudo scandals, whether homosexual or heterosexual, whether they would involve Philip Schofield, or I don't know Prince Harry and Meghan Markle! Are a complete waste of time as news, particularly from the viewpoint, of any sincere and informed socialist. Well ... I know that quite a few people use or tend to use celebrity issues, as a way of relating themselves to more general issues: or even simply so that they have something to talk about, and everybody else will know what it is they're talking about.
But: this is simply a very shallow way to relate to the world. And you do have to remember, that the more time people spend on line or anywhere else, talking about celebrities, and gossiping about them, the less time they and the actual media will have to concentrate on ordinary people and talk about them and about issues that matter.
So it's a question of where the focus should be! 🙂
And don't give me that stuff all about how immoral Phillip Schofield or someone like him is. He actually fits into an a number of very normal in inverted commas cliches: that of the boss who has an affair with his secretary, which this is the equivalent of; then there's the established gay trope of the much older and more experienced man with a lot younger man, and so on and so forth. To suggest that this is anything extraordinary or criminal is simply naive. It's both naive and hypocritical: which unfortunately both are very prevalent features of contemporary British society. 😏
As I told to that Wolf person or whatever his name was on a fairly recent Twitter thread, I know exactly why - the web of reasons why - this Phillip Schofield thing is being made the most tremendous fuss of on social media right now. As I told him, it is partially mass hysteria which is fueled by the mainstream media; Britain goes through a paedophile panic every so often, which was once very neatly satirised by the satirical program Brass Eye! 🙂
And secondly, to go along with the mass hysteria, we also have a sort of mass collective guilt, which was really sparked off by, and has been hanging around for years, due to the failure by the police, the media and I suppose ultimately the public, to catch and expose Jimmy Savile as the kind of predator he was. As I also said on Twitter, worrying about Savile really is shutting the stable door after the horse has indeed bolted. 😏
But the comparisons being made, particularly on YouTube right now, between Schofield and Savile, are quite simply ridiculous and obviously completely unwarranted. Often they are done by insinuation: like with the juxtaposition of a picture of one with a picture of the other, both Photoshopped so as to look extremely unpleasant, particularly on the thumbnail where everyone can see it. This is both clickbait and libel of the worst variety and it should not be allowed by YouTube, and it should be removed. But we all know they're much more interested in censoring political channels.
Yes. This smearing by
association: that is something the modern mainstream media are well known to do. **Usually when they are producing some type of propaganda or another.** Mr Corbyn got plenty of that: but that's another matter.
And we also notice - at least I do - that most of the fuss about Schofield, at least that which has revealed itself in my YouTube feed, and nearly all the smears about Schofield, are produced by right wing sites, the likes of GB News, and further right. The kind of poisonous sneery tone, of a lot of these obviously non-socialist sites towards Schofield; denote to me two things. And often I think it's a mixture of the two! Namely, a kind of poisonous - when is it never poisonous - schadenfreude brought on by jealousy of a very successful career (some of these tubers are obviously people on the peripheries of showbiz). Second would be the still commonly felt among right wingers hostility towards homosexuals. Which they are cunningly attempting to disguise as something completely else: but I believe I can read the real emotional and ideological message particularly behind some of the more sneery type of channels. If you didn't hate gays, and you weren't jealous pricks, you wouldn't be sneering! is my conclusion. 🤷♀️
I don't really care whether a person is "moral", by the way. But I do care about fairness. The current treatment of Schofield, and the juxtaposition with Savile, is most certainly unfair. 😏
Anyway: the modern left, well most of it, doesn't appear to care about fairness: and once again quite stupidly they appear to have fallen for another scam. Or a mass hysteria; or a witch hunt; whatever one wants to call it. Similar to with the #itwasascam antisemitism thing really. 😏 Well at least, I can see them cheering it along on Twitter. I don't know if any left YouTuber has made any pieces positive or negative about Schofield: I haven't seen any of the ones I follow cover it, I haven't really looked. 🤷♀️
And similar of course to #metoo; which died a death really, with the flop of Amber Heard. And a bloody good thing it did!
What I'm saying - the conclusion I have come to - is the all these kind of celebrity things, when even not total smears, are a complete waste of time: and should not be touched with a barge pole by the left.
In fact, I would ban all this type of idea of social justice! That they think is social justice anyway; when really it's based on media bullying and Twitter dog piling; and doesn't achieve anything anyway. Much like that other pompous person on a Twitter thread I was on a couple of days ago was saying something like I was stopping successors of Savile from being hunted down! 😄 Like a) Schofield was anything at all like Savile; and like b) this fellow or a bunch of his fellow nerds on Twitter were going to do anything of the sort! Rotfl. 🤣 More people with a stupid keyboard warrior superhero complex! 😏👎
That's what I think. 😏😄

The way The Thick of It jokes about Hugh Abbot (Chris Langham), Huw Edwards and Philip Schofield and I, here in 2024, sit knowing things they do not
#for context all three men have been accused of paedophilia to varying degrees#chris langham was arrested and imprisoned but has since been released#(for possession of images of children AND having an inappropriate relationship with a teenager)#huw edwards and philip schofield have been accused of having inappropriate relations with teenagers#pretty sure they also joke about savile but I think that’s after people knew about junk#*him not junk#my own post#ttoi#the thick of it#this makes it sound like ttoi jokes about paedophilia a lot which they don’t - the ‘jokes’ I mentioned are literally just one off lines#they only stood out to me because of the recent news about edwards & schofield and knowing about langham when I didn’t last time

The first ever AMAZON STRIKE in the UK is one week away - and they need your support!
Respectfully asking if I can get a bunch of notes on this so I can show my phone when I go to the rally and let them see how much support they have! ✊
And here are the Amazon strike fund details to donate if you're able:
Name - GMB Midland & East Coast
Bank - Unity Trust
Sort Code - 60-83-01
A/c No - 33010410
Ref - Amazon
I'm pretty sure I know how this works:
Like to charge, reblog to cast!
Update:
Thanks everyone who has responded to show your support, here's a link to an interview with one of the GMB union officials earlier this morning after Amazon workers walked out at 00:00.
I will update again later today when I visit the picket, but as this is doing numbers here's a link to the official donation page: stick it to Amazon and show your support for the workers! Solidarity ✊
Update 2:
Some great fighting talk from union speakers willing to take on Amazon.
Strikers told me that amazon managers and bosses have been intimidating staff & taking advantage of the fact that many workers are on zero hour contracts & many are immigrants and they speak a lot of different languages, so they've been lining the hallways to watch them as they leave shifts and lying about the union by saying the union is threatening people and beating them up, all to pressure them to stay silent and be too afraid to communicate so they don't go on strike with their colleagues. But they wont win - the strike was national news, from Philip Schofield talking about Jeff Bezos only offering a 50p raise from his billions on This Morning to major news coverage throughout the day. At one point we were live on Channel 4!
I told workers and union officials that over a thousand people from tumblr who are mostly queer/trans/nonbinary/otherwise lgbtq+ wanted them to know that they support the Amazon strikers.
One striker seemed surprised by this and I got to talk to him about how lgbtq+ people are working class too, how lgbtq+ rights are working class rights, how none of us are free from exploitation until we all are, so no wonder the gay website supports you, and he seemed to really take that on board.
All the workers were grateful for everyone who showed up and thank you all for your support - this is just the start.
Fuck Jeff Bezos

Just picked up Kendall Coyne Schofield's 2022 book As Fast as Her from the library. I'm only a few chapters in, but already it's pretty darn fun. It's written at a YA level so it's a very easy read.
Some random gems to share:
Billie Jean King wrote the introduction and she mentions that Kendall and Kevin (KCS's older brother) taught King how to shoot a hockey puck! It was in preparation for a little "See if you can get the puck through one of these little holes we put in front of the net" challenges during a Blackhawks game. And Billie Jean got it in! I had to look up a video of it and it's great because you can see Kendall is even more excited about it than Billie Jean was.
The pictures in the tipped-in photo pages are true gems. Just an amazing little collection of photographs. Little kid Kendall? A-dor-a-ble. Wedding dress Kendall? Gorgeous. Her husband lifting her up over his head? Delightful. Marie-Philip Poulin being in one? Star studded. Just a truly great collection of photos here.
No wonder she's so good, she was hard-core into sports since she was a tiny little child.
Ice has different levels of hardness? I was not aware of this. Remind me to research this more later.
Lots of other great stuff so far too. The story of the first Kendall hockey braid. Her parents signing her up for figure skating lessons and her quitting after 2 days because she wanted to play hockey like her older brother and "needed the sport" of it. Her brother and her sounding like wild balls of energy tearing around the house. Lots of sweet and fun stories from these beginning years.

Camilla Tominey : The place has never phoned me
Philip Schofield : Are you taken out for lunch by the palace
Camilla Tominey : Occasionally... to talk about the coronation.
Camilla Tominey : The palace phoned me to deny stories
Philip Schofield : So they do phone you
Camilla Tominey is a royal reporter. She's the reporter that broke the Meghan made Kate cry story. She's also the one that likened Meghan eating avocado to fueling human rights abuse, droughts, and murder. She also linked the Grenfell Kitchen to terrorist when Meghan started working with the ladies at the Hub kitchen. She's a sorry sack of💩 but I digress. Camilla couldn't even keep her lies straight in the span of a one minute interview.

FACT & REPORTAGE
#MediaToo & The Crisis in British Journalism
MailOnline and The Sun Hid Serious Dan Wootton Claims – While Attacking Huw Edwards and the BBC
In the fifth part of our three-year special investigation into the private and professional conduct of GB News star Dan Wootton, Byline Times can reveal how The Sun and MailOnline have been protecting their star celebrity journalist
Dan Evans
28 July 2023
MailOnline knew of serious criminal allegations of a sexual nature about its columnist Dan Wootton in May yet failed to report them to the police and continued to publish his work on five occasions, Byline Times can reveal.
Wootton’s former employer The Sun also failed to report the same detailed allegations to the police despite knowing about them since at least 7 June 2023 – a month before running a controversial front page about a BBC presenter lawfully paying for sexual images.
The matter was reported to the publications by a former male adult entertainer whom Wootton employed to help him catfish men of sexual interest and secretly record them in their homes having sex.
A further allegation was also made, and is known by both newspapers – details of which we are unable to report at this time.
The man told Byline Times: “The Mail said they couldn’t touch the story as Wootton worked for them. They said it sounded like a very serious criminal matter, and said that I should go to the police – which I did.
“I also told The Sun about it and the fact that Wootton had paid one of my colleagues for sex work from their own accounts by pretending he was a source on a story about Amber Heard. They also told me to report it to the police. So, I did that in June.”
Neither publication has since reported at all on the three-year special investigation into the personal and professional conduct of Wootton that Byline Times started breaking 11 days ago, yet The Sun did cover Wootton’s denials in a 143-word piece on 20 July. News UK, its publisher, has since set up an internal inquiry and MailOnline has unofficially ‘paused’ Wootton’s column.
However, the failure of publishers Associated Newspapers Ltd and News UK Ltd to act sooner is attracting strong criticism, given both took aim at the BBC during the same period for its handling of the Huw Edwards affair.
“The fact that Dan Wootton’s employers and previous employers knew of allegations against him and did nothing for at least six weeks before Byline Times started reporting them means that the public interest here is not just on his alleged actions but their actions too as supposedly responsible publishers and employers,” Paul Wragg, Professor of Media Law at the University of Leeds, told this newspaper.
‘I Was Really Surprised they Didn’t Seem Interested’
Today, in the latest part of Byline Times’ #MediaToo investigation into abuses of power in publishing and broadcasting, we can reveal how the ex-adult entertainer first contacted MailOnline on 29 May amid a mounting scandal about the former ITV This Morning presenter Philip Schofield and his lawful relationship with a younger man he worked with.
In a subsequent email to MailOnline on 31 May, the man – who we are not naming for legal reasons – wrote: “After Philip Schofield, the next one on This Morning who should be investigated is Dan Wootton [the presenter previously worked on the magazine show].
“I am an ex-porn star and escort. I have worked for Dan on several occasions. The things he has asked me to do were illegal. He used to ask us to film others without their consent… He also used to pay myself and others to use our Facebooks [profiles] and message who he wanted us to encounter with. How much for a story like this? I have more information on him.”
Wootton has denied any allegations of criminality.
The complainant has since told Byline Times that his interactions with the now GB News star, left him suicidal and living a chaotic life of self-medicating drug use and mental trauma.
Communications with MailOnline continued until this Wednesday, 26 July, during which the man says he was told it could not consider reporting on Wootton because he was an employee of Associated Newspapers.
“After that, I went to The Sun and told them about Wootton and the Amber Heard stuff – evidence of which they obviously have on their own account system. After lots of calls, they just said it was for the police to deal with, not them.
“They said there wasn’t any evidence, even though I was directly involved. I even told them the name of the accounts person who dealt with it. I was really surprised they didn’t seem interested.”
Byline Times has verified the email and other communications with MailOnline and can confirm that at least eight phone calls were made to and from The Sun newsdesk between 7 June and 27 July about Wootton, who last night was still presenting a prime-time show on GB News.
The Huw Edwards Parallel
During this period, both MailOnline and The Sun broke stories about Huw Edwards, who is no longer on air for the BBC and has been receiving help, according to his wife, with “serious mental health issues”.
In a defence of its articles about Edwards, which have been heavily criticised, The Sun wrote in a comment piece on 13 July: “A desperate couple approached us with firm evidence that he was paying large sums to a young person with a spiralling drug addiction – and that the star had been sent sexual pictures.
“But police said nothing could be done and, despite a detailed complaint to the BBC, it did nothing either. What do our critics, especially Mr Edwards’ pious media friends, think we should have done? Told the family to shove off? Turned a blind eye to what appeared to be a clear abuse of power by a household name… ?”
MailOnline has been similarly critical of the BBC for posing as the “moral conscience of the nation” over the Edwards saga.
On Wednesday, its columnist Brendan O’Neill wrote: “Their authoritarian urge to elevate certain stories and diminish others robs ordinary people of the right to know what is really happening in this country. There is nothing ‘virtuous’ about it. On the contrary: these are the despotic antics of people who think they should have the power to control the flow of information itself.”
For Prof Wragg, “Dan Wootton has set himself up as a moral arbiter whose job it is to condemn others for moral flaws – and that means that his own moral flaws are a matter of clear public interest”.
“He is a man who has been instrumental in exposing the highly sensitive details of the private lives of many people in public life, including the television presenter Philip Schofield and the musical entertainer Duncan James,” he told Byline Times.
“He’s made a career out of subjecting others to vitriol but now seems to want the protection of the law as a matter of privacy and defamation now that his own alleged actions are being subjected to scrutiny.”
He added: “During this precise time-frame, The Sun was breaking a big story about the BBC News anchor Huw Edwards and it seems extraordinary that they would not have taken the opportunity to refer the serious allegations against Mr Wootton to the police themselves.
“At the very least, this inaction and the decision by MailOnline to allow Mr Wootton to continue to publish columns under its name seriously undermines the moral stance it has taken by criticising the BBC’s conduct in relation to Mr Edwards.
“It also undermines their credibility as a serious news organisation. This is a clear ethical failing that IPSO, the press complaints handler, should investigate given that it claims to uphold high editorial standards.”
Wootton has written five columns for MailOnline since the man first contacted it with his allegations.
In one column on 30 May, Wootton discussed Philip Schofield, saying: “I would have thought in this day and age that a mainstream broadcaster such as ITV ought to be seen to be doing all it can to deal with issues like this, find out where the truth lies and, in the meantime, suspend those who the rumours concern.”
Wootton also called for “the truth, this time; not the saccharin fairy-tale Schofield offered up on the sofa to an unsuspecting British public”.
In a follow-up column on 15 June, Wootton wrote of ITV’s treatment of the Schofield affair: “As a result of this cover-up and PR disaster that has followed, many loyal viewers will never trust This Morning or the channel its broadcast on again.”
Byline Times put a series of questions connected to this article to News UK and Associated Newspapers but received no response. This newspaper will update this article if it does.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “In June 2023, the Metropolitan Police was contacted with regards to allegations of sexual offences committed by a man. Officers are assessing information to establish whether any criminal offence has taken place. There is no police investigation at this time.”
Dan Evans is a former colleague of Dan Wootton’s from the News of the World. None of the sources in this article were paid for their testimony

Do you think The Sun would ever 'out' Larry? They were calling Harry a queerbaiter when MP came out so I'm not sure that they would. There's babygate on top of that. Wouldn't that expose the media for being compliant in it and it would expose too many powerful people. Outing them could lead to babygate being exposed. I'm really not sure that they'd risk that as it would come back to bite them. They get a lot of clicks from Harry's PR relationships so it seems like him being in the closet benefits them.
It genuinely blows my mind that you think that's a question. It really shows how shallow the understanding of media is in this fandom.
Would the Sun out someone? Would the Sun blame people for their own deaths? Would the Sun repeat whatever lies the police told to cover their asses under the headline 'The Truth'? Would the Sun hack into the phone of a murdered teenager? Would the Sun run a racist campaign to dehumanise migrants? Would the Sun make up stories to stoke Transphobia? Would the Sun do anything within its power to stoke hatred and make people's lives worse?
Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes - a thousand times yes.
None of the factors that you've listed have anything to do with why The Sun hasn't outed Louis and Harry. The idea that the fact a newspaper had reported on someone's performance of sexuality would stop them from outting that same person - is a ridiculous fantasy of fandom that has nothing to with reality. Newspapers don't and are not expected to tell consistent stories. The Sun reported on Philip Schofield and Huw Edwards families. The idea that the stories a newspaper has reported in the past restrict the stories they'll report in the future is just not how any of this works.
The Sun will get plenty of clicks out of Harry whatever they do (although not from me and not from Liverpool). The idea that motivates them - shows the problem of trying to explain something before you understand it.
I've no idea why you think the fact that Louis portrays himself as a father is some sort of barrier for Harry and Louis being outted. They could be outted individually, or they could be outted together without in anyway disturbing that portrayal.
I think baked in this anon is this fantasy about what outting Harry and Louis would look like - as if the only story that could be told about them is the stories fans tell. But if the Sun were to out them together - they would do so in a way that promoted a homophobic agenda, and that presented Louis and Harry in a sordid way.
I've got another anon asking me why I think The Sun hasn't outted Louis and Harry. So I'll leave that part of the question to the other anon. But I can't emphasise enough that they absolutely would. It is a risk their teams have been aware of from the beginning and have had strategies around. And that any arguments about why they haven't - need to start with The Sun, what it is and how it operates. Rather than fans ideas of the world.
#The view of The Sun in this fandom#has always absolutely done my head in#So often discussions are completely removed from context#And show no interest in what The Sun is and what it does#and in understanding anything it's said about 1D is a triviality#compared to the actual evils it perpetuated#and the only thing that needs to be explained#is why it isn't worse
