Reading another romance novel set in NYC where the author seemed to forget that just because something isn’t advertised towards tourists doesn’t mean it isn’t something that exists and is popular with people who actually live here.

#how many books will I have to read #where queer New Yorkers say they have never gone to the beach #because there are no beaches #when like #there is a queer beach in Queens that is accessible via public transport #that we know and have documents and photos verifying has been a queer beach since the 1940s #there is a gay beach on the Jersey Shore if you wanna travel there #and several more big gay beach parties out there of varying sorts #advertised endlessly in gay publications #and there is Fire fucking Island #which may be annoyingly expensive NOW but in the 80s was dirt cheap #sorry author but your characters would #more realisticly #just not like the beach #the issue isn't a lack of access to a queer beach #it is they don't like the beach #:/#why yes because I am working from home this week #and my boss will not give me a start time today #just told me she is going to call me this morning and then ghosted when I asked when #I am reading a romance novel in bed until whenever the fuck she calls
