I have had a thought. Steve secretly knowing how to play the piano bc he learned as a kid and had to stop bc his dad's an asshole is lovely. I've seen this floating around a few times and I love it. Eddie catching him playing the piano and being so fucking in love with him will never not be perfect.
But.
Consider
Steve playing the Harp.
It's definitely a rich kid instrument. Big ass fucking impractical instrument. Absolutely beautiful to look at and listen to. Hands playing piano is great. But have you ever seen an accomplished harpist? It makes you think impure thoughts about what those fingers can do.
So. Steve secretly knowing how to play the harp
Maybe his mom used to play it, so there's a big harp (the ones with the columns and super intricate base board, not celtic) that's just gathering dust in the basement. Steve started piano lessons, loved learning how to pull music out of an inert object. But his dad decides it's to effeminate, makes him stop. And sure, a harp is a different beast to a piano. But you've still got cords, and Steve's got a pretty decent ear, and he can barely remember seeing his mom play. So one day when he has the house to himself, which isn't an unusual occurrence at this point, he tries it out. And he's admittedly pretty shit at it, but so was he at piano when he started. Only difference is he has no teacher.
So maybe Steve discreetly finds a way to acquire a beginner's practice instructional book for harp. And works on it when he needs to get his brain away from things.
He's even more careful with it than he is with any dirty mags he might later acquire. He knows that worse, much worse than piano, harp is not a masculine instrument and under no circumstances should his father find out about his affinity for it.
It's still his go to when he can't sleep even years later, pulling out the now old and battered booklet of sheet music and exercises. Especially once the upside down bullshit starts. It's soothing and mindless at this point.
The harp that was much too big when he first started with it is now just the right size, it's weight against his shoulder comforting. He can close his eyes and his fingers naturally find where to land and pluck.
Even when he becomes friends with Robbin and then Eddie, both musicians who he knows wouldn't give a damn about him playing a woman's instrument, he can't bring himself to mention it. If he did, they would want to hear him play and he's self-conscious about being self-taught. Both of them play well, they play with other people and people come to listen. He doesn't consider himself a "real" musician. It's just something he does to keep his hands and brain busy on nights where the sheets feel like they're strangling him and the dark reminds him too much of when he can't see not because it's night but because something's hit him in the head again and he can't tell apart the sound of his heartbeat from something pounding through his walls.
So he goes to the basement. Finds his stool. Removes the dust cover. Goes through the meditative motions of tuning it by ear, because that's how he's always done it. And then he plays until the tips of his fingers feel numb. Somehow, he always comes out of it peaceful enough to pass out on the couch in the basement for a couple more hours.
Steve is so used to keeping it a secret he doesn't even think about it when he starts dating Eddie. It's just a thing that's always only been his, and most importantly, it's been vital to keep it that way for so long it's the natural state of things for Steve at this point. It doesn't ever come up. When Steve gets nightmares when he's sleeping with Eddie all he has to do is curl into his boyfriend's chest and feel the warm heartbeat that's not his own to settle back into himself.
The problem arises on a night when Eddie was supposed to stay with Steve but he got held up in Indianapolis when getting a new amp for his guitar. He would come back to Steve but it would be late in the night. Steve has been keeping himself busy all day so he passes out in the early evening on the couch in front of a shitty sitcom he put on to try to distract himself from the empty house.
Nightmares find him, which isn't terribly unusual, but he doesn't have his usual method of coping so he resorts back to his previous habit.
Eddie walks in bone tired after many hours of driving to and from Indianapolis, waiting while the clerk figured out they didn't have the amp he'd been assured over the phone would be available for pickup today, waiting some more while they had the amp driven from a sister shop an hour away because no way was he driving back and forth again to Indianapolis on another day. So yeah. Eddie is beat. All he wants is to dive head first into his boyfriend's impeccable pecs.
He doesn't find Steve waiting with a welcome kiss like he usually would when he walks in. Instead he's greeted with a hauntingly beautiful rendition of the melody of Master of Puppets in a way he's never heard before.
He drops his stuff in the entry hall and goes down to the basement where the music is coming from, curious to see where Steve might have found the recording. Eddie doesn't quite know what to do with himself when he finally lays eyes on Steve, with dried tear stains on his cheeks and his eyes closed as his fingers pluck and strum without hesitation. He's rooted to the spot as he watches Steve work his favorite song in a new and completely heartrending way. He hasn't been able to listen to it since he played it in the upside down. It always brings up the bitter blood tang of the air and the hair raising shrieks of the bats. But this is somehow different, it's soft and melodious but it's still got the same bones.
Eddie feels tears on his own cheeks. He's missed this song goddammit. And he couldn't be happier that it's Steve that's given it back to him
Queue tears and fear and confessions and comfort. Somehow much later in the future there's inexplicably a harp in some of the corroded coffin tracks. And it shouldn't work but it does

Drawn Together 3
Tumblr media
Warnings: non/dubcon, obsession, intimidation, and other dark elements.
Character: Steve Rogers
Summary: You get a tattoo on an impulse to break your routine, but you walk away with something else as permanent as the ink.
My warnings are not exhaustive but be aware this is a dark fic and may include potentially triggering topics. Please use your common sense when consuming content. I am not responsible for your decisions.
As usual, I would appreciate any and all feedback. Thank you in advance for your comments and for reblogging.
Tumblr media
You wring your hands as you watch Steve drift along the other wall. The white tee shirt makes the ink on his arms seem starker as he has a thumb hook in his jean pocket, the other reaching to take an oval frame from the console table.
You squeeze your fingers tight, until they might crack, then release the tension along with your breath. He sets the picture back down and stands straight, looking around emphatically.
“Nice place,” he remarks as he faces you, “lots of space for you… and your… boyfriend?”
You watch him dully, “it’s nice.”
He is unfazed by your blunt deflection, “these old century townhouses, there’s not many of those left. I remember my mother lived in one. A few streets away.” He nears you and you brace yourself. He angles his arm towards you and shows you a banner that reads, ‘Brooklyn strong’.
“Oh, that’s very nice,” you lean back on your heel and pivot. “We should probably get started, we’re already behind.”
“You’re from Brooklyn too?” He asks as he goes to the bench.
“Grandparents lived here. They left me the place.” You take out a folder, the typical package you have ready for beginners, “we’ll start by tracing your hands.”
“Alright,” he stands close as you open the folder on the back of the piano. You turn and pluck a pencil from the jar on the shelf.
“It’s just… an exercise,” you explain as you hand him the pencil, “trace left then right and label them left and right.”
“Oh, wow,” he accepts the pencil, “this feels like grade school.”
“Hmm, well, yeah, my students are typically younger… my older students have a little more experience.”
“No, no, I’m excited,” he says as he spreads out his hand on the paper. His hand is huge.
You spin again and slip out another looseleaf and hand it over, “for your other hand.”
You set it down on the polished wood and he thanks you quietly as he focuses on following the outline of his long fingers. Looking at his hand makes you feel tiny. Your eyes scan the small stars on each knuckle, red, white, and blue. The ring finger is untouched.
He finishes the exercise and you go over the five-finger system with him. It feels so ridiculous. He’s not a child but you find it simple and easy. When you have that all done, you fold up the file and put it aside.
“Sit,” you gesture to the upholstery.
He obeys, looking down at the keys as he rests his hands on his jeans. You think about grabbing a stool as you consider the limited expanse left beside him. You can fit. You lower yourself and hit a key.
“We’ll go over the musical alphabet now, low to high.”
You sense his gaze, intent on you as you go through the usual introduction. You pause and have him repeat what you just did on the keys. He does it slowly as his arm presses to yours.
“Now from middle C,” you instruct and demonstrate. “You want your hands at middle C.” You raise your hands, “left: F-G-A-B-C, right: C-D-E-F-G. Thumbs together.”
“Right,” he does exactly as you say. He has good form as he keeps his hands on the keys but not heavy.
“Good,” you get up and take the metal TV tray from the small rack tucked beside the shelf. You unfold one and bring it around to his elbow. Your grandfather always had one open beside his leather chair. The paint shows the wear. “Now, we will go through a warm up and have you write it out.”
“Okay,” he watches you. His blue eyes are so brilliant and intense. You realise, he’s been looking at you for longer than you knew. You take the folder and open it up again. “I appreciate the patience.”
“Oh, no, don’t worry,” you spread out a blank sheet, “you’re much less fidgety than a six-year old.”
“I hope so,” he chuckles.
“So, our goal by the end is for you to play one song. Does that sound good?”
“A whole song?” He echoes, “uh, yeah, I can do that.”
“Nothing too complicated,” you turn the folder to him and put the pencil across it, “so as we learn, we’ll write down what we play and this will help you learn to read music.”
“Right, let’s do the spider song as our warm-up,” you stand beside the piano. You can’t bear to sit next to him, not as you feel the sweat still speckling on your neck and beading under your hairline.
“Spider song?” He grins, “that’d be a good tat, huh? A spider?”
“Um, I guess, I…”
“You’re not spider girl, though,” he says, “flowers.” He glances over at the window sill then back to you. His eyes descend slowly and you struggle not to wilt. You feel like he’s looking right through you, “poppies.”
You nod and shift your feet closer together, “I appreciate the simplicity.”
“Ha, I can never keep a plant alive,” he snorts, “you must just have that gentle touch that helps them thrive.”
“Well, um, I think we should get started,” you cross your arms and stride behind him, going to the other side of the piano. “Middle C.”
🎹
The lesson is as successful as any other. You stand at the corner of the piano as Steve keys out Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star. He hits the last note with the same pride shown by the bouncing seven-year olds that perch in that very spot daily.
“Great. You got your first song,” you say, “there’s a print-out in the folder,” you point beyond him, “it shows the keys, I know it’s not the same but it’s a good way to practice position. You can use that if you want to practice between lessons.”
“Between lessons,” he pulls his hands into his lap, “does that mean I passed? I get to come back?”
“That’s up to you. If you really want to learn, you’re going to need to keep at it. Older students tend to take a little longer. Um, sorry, not to… I hope that isn’t insulting.”
“Nope,” he claps his legs and turns, standing from the bench. He pushes his head side to side and cracks his neck, “I’ve always needed a little extra love, you know? I can be a bit bullheaded. Sam says I got a thick skull.”
You know he’s trying to be friendly. There’s just something off. You still can’t believe he’s really there or that you let him in. To that point, you’ve been going through a routine, letting the steps guide you through. Now, you’re at a loss. There is no parent coming to usher him out of your home.
“I got the fee,” he reaches in his back pocket and pulls out his wallet, “I guess I should’ve paid at the start.”
“No, uh, that’s fine,” you eke out.
“So uh, same time next week? Do you think maybe I could come back sooner?”
“Um, I’d have to look at my schedule. I’ll call–”
He holds out several bills and you accept them quietly. You always find the payment is awkward, even if it’s the whole point. You are offering a service, you deserve everything you earn.
“Great, I’ll keep my phone close.”
The silence rises to strangle you. You peer around, grasping the bills tightly. What do you say to make him go? It’ll be easier to tell him you’re at capacity over the phone but you can’t then. Not to his face.
“You know, I still didn’t get a good look at your piece. Do you mind?”
“What?” You look at him.
“Your ink,” he nods at your feet, “do you mind if–”
He doesn't finish his question as he bends to look at your legs. You sway uncertainly and turn, pointing your toe to present your ankle to him. You don’t know what else to do. He examines it and you wince as he reaches to touch the skin beside it.
“Sam’s a talented guy,” he drags his fingertips away and stands, “helps when you have a great canvas. It suits you, sweetheart.”
Your brows rise as you gape at him. You quickly snap your mouth shut and fold your hands together. Your heart is pulsing behind your ears. You need him gone. This is your space and he’s intruded for long enough. The lesson is over.
“Don’t forget your folder,” you flit away from him and fold up the file, “here.” You face him again and push it against his chest, “I have to clean up for my next lesson.”
“Clean– this place is immaculate,” he looks around as he clutches the folder by the edges, “I don’t think–”
“Please, I have a lesson to prepare. Don’t forget to practice.”
You take a step back as he gazes at you. Unmoving. You might be telling him to go but it’s entirely his decision. Your nerves ping at the thought that you could not make him go. That if he stays long enough, he’ll realise your lie. Your excuse. He is your only lesson that day.
“Thank you, sweetheart,” he relents at last as he tucks the folder under his arm, “see ya next week.”
You’re paralysed as you watch him cross the room. He disappears down the stairs and you listen to the creak of each step. At the bottom, you hear him shuffling around and when you find the courage to go look down, the door closes behind him.
You hurry down the stairs and quickly twist the lock. You let out your breath and lean into the wind as you let out a shuddery breath. His scent lingers. You’ll have to open some windows and light some incense. Hopefully, you can forget all about him.

Chapter 1 - Beautiful Stranger (wordcount: 1.5k)
Dancing was your passion, you had been doing it your entire life. It was clear from the start when your mom took you to see your first professional ballet performance. The costumes, the subtle movements and the rhythm of the music. Setting a goal from when you were just a kid, dreaming you would make it as a ballerina. It was easy to say that dance was your calling, being said from dance instructors. And even being accepted into The Boston Ballet. You had a bright future of dance ahead, you could picture it then. Being on a stage, the bright lights focused on only you. Where you danced for a full audience in a theater.
Unfortunately right out of graduating,  those dreams came crashing to a halt. It was all because of the accident. It kept you from your training, and not being able to keep up with your dance peers.
You felt there was no direction your life was going anymore, when you had moved back home to Texas to heal, where there was nothing to keep you busy. Then, Miss Beatrice’s dance works came into motion. You were given an opportunity to teach childrens beginners ballet. Your parents urged you to do something productive like this. Thinking you might as well keep some part of dancing in your life, you accepted.
You were playing the light piano music from your phone, and faced the bright eyed little kids. First practice of the season always seemed to go smoothly. Some were not as excited to be there as others, but nonetheless, you began instruction. Introducing them to the basics, the 5 basic positions. And had them walk across the room doing different movements with their arms.
Then you hear the metal door suddenly open, looking away from your students, you see a broad frame with a duffel bag shoved in his left hand and rushing his daughter to sit on the chair to slip her ballet shoes on.
“Um pardon the interruption…” he said sincerely. You stop your teaching to smile and walk out of the studio and into the waiting room.
“That's alright…we aren’t even ten minutes in.” you waved him off, and eyes wandered to the curly haired girl rushing in the waiting room.
‘Keep on practicing the positions girls..” you say as you walk out the door to greet the dad. You look over to the girl and smile. “You must be Sarah.” You say she nods enthusiastically and beams. “I’m Joel, Sarah’s dad” he introduced himself, holding his hand out for you to take it. His hands were calloused but felt comforting, different from your delicate hand. You could almost feel your breath hitch. “Sorry for bein’ late for the first practice… I was behind at work and was in rush gettin’ home to pick her up.” he said with a sincere face. You examine his features, dark brown eyes that look like they've seen a lot. And lines that were deepening on his forehead.
You introduce yourself and continue to reassure him.  “Again it is no problem at all, just as long as you don't make it a habit.” you tease lightly. He chuckles and runs his hand through his hair. He looks around to see the other parents of the dancers getting agitated, which you notice and realize you need to continue class. “Well Joel, if you aren't busy you are welcome to sit on the bench and watch.” you smile and fold your two hands together. He did just that and took a breath, placing his hands on his knees. “C’mon Sarah, let’s head in.” she skips behind you and you shut the door behind. You gave a warm smile and had her stand at the bar with the others.
Class then resumes and you catch Sarah up. Joel watches your softness teaching, and your gentle movements as you demonstrated to the peaceful music. Standing on your tiptoes and raising your arms, Joel notices the happiness in your eyes right away. It's as if you entered a completely different reality. He appreciates watching you helping Sarah when she was struggling. Urging her to take a deep breath when she got frustrated.
Time passed and class ended, the kids rushing out to their parents and babbling. You walk behind them and walk to the desk in the studio office, grabbing papers and handing them to Joel. You were giving him the rundown of fundraising for the studio, and telling him that you needed Sarah's clothing size for therecital costume. You smiled as you saw him struggling to keep a note of all the important things, but he wanted to know and stay involved as much as possible for his kid. He smirked and held the papers up. “You got it.” He then found Sarah, and you waved as they walked out the door with the other families.
After the studio was cleared for the evening, you collected your bag and water bottle. Then you walked out of the building.
Unlocking your apartment door you took a deep breath. Not even wanting to think about dinner, you plopped yourself on your couch. Then dialed the nearby Chinese place a few blocks from your place on your phone. Deciding to order takeout, seems like the easiest choice, you think to yourself.
While waiting for your food you got up and prepared a side salad for yourself in your tiny kitchen. Then rested your elbow on the counter and scrolled through your missed calls. A few being from your mom, shit. You then decide to call her tomorrow, it has already been a long day. Along with wanting to start choreographing the recital dance, even though it would be months away, you still wanted to feel on top of things.
A few hours then passed, and the discarded chinese boxes were still on your coffee table. You had your laptop laying on your chest as you focused. Then looking at the time you groan, placing your laptop at the edge of the couch. You then sit up and stretch, and get ready for bed.
You are now snuggled into the soft duvet and your head resting on your pillow. Your mind wandering in your pool of thoughts as you try to sleep. You cannot help but keep thinking of Joel. Something about him made you want to learn more.
A few days pass and you are currently in between classes, so you took a break in your office. Typing away on your computer, replying to emails sent by parents, and filling out papers for Miss Beatrice, who owns the studio.
Completely focused on your work, there was a light knock on your door. Startled out of your trance, you looked up. It was Joel, who had a nervous smile as he held his hand up to wave.
“Hope m’ not interruptin’ anything?” he says cautiously. You shake your head, close your laptop and tuck a piece of your hair behind your ear. “Not at all, Mr. Miller. Come on in.” you give a warm smile and gesture for him to sit down at the seat across from your desk. He does so and sits himself down and clears his throat. “None of that, please…Mr. Miller is my father.” he teases. You smile and begin talking again, “Alright then, Joel. What can I help you with?” you smile.
He shifts in his seat and rubs the back of his neck. You could tell something was bothering him. “Sarah has been talkin’ about starting dance lessons for a while now, and I’m excited I was able to get her here.” You nod, and Joel continues talking. “The problem is that I had no idea how much this would cost..” he slightly chuckles.
“Joel, we are very flexible with our parents. We even offer all sorts of different sorts of payment plans.” you explain. He slowly nods and gives a sigh of relief. “And I will do everything I can to help you guys...Sarah is a really bright student. I would hate to see her leave.” you say sincerely.
“Thank you very much.” he says. “Really means a lot..what you say ‘bout Sarah.” he says proudly. There's a beat of silence between Joel and you. Next thing you know you’re looking in your desk drawer for a sticky note. Scribbling down your number on the piece of paper and slide it across to him. He takes it and examines it. “What’s this?” he drawls.
“It’s my phone number, in case you have any more questions for me.” you smile. He nods with a smile. “I really wish I could help you more today, but I have another class that starts in a few minutes.” you say. Joel then stands up and puts the piece of paper in his back jean pocket. He then follows you out of the office, and you open the door. Noticing him gently placing his hand on the small of your back.
After you both say final goodbyes, you take a deep breath. Watching him exit the building you turn around. It's okay, It's okay, you give all the parents your phone number. You think to yourself. Your mind was churning. You enter the studio and begin warming up and greet the students as they walk in.

Slapshots and Contracts Blurb:
In the cozy living room of the Crosby-Noir household, Isabelle "Izzy" Noir sat at the piano, surrounded by her curious children. The soft melodies of a beginner's tune floated through the air as Izzy patiently guided the kids through their first piano lesson.
Sidney Crosby, intrigued by the musical serenade, leaned against the door frame, a proud smile on his face as he watched the scene unfold. The kids, with a mix of excitement and concentration, carefully followed Izzy's instructions, their tiny fingers finding their way across the piano keys.
Izzy, known for her confidence and expertise, made the learning process fun and engaging. She peppered the lesson with playful anecdotes and encouraged the kids to express themselves through the music.
As the chords echoed in the room, Sidney couldn't help but feel a sense of warmth and admiration for his wife. Her passion for music and her ability to impart that knowledge to their children added a new layer to their family dynamics.
After a successful rendition of a simple tune, the kids beamed with a sense of accomplishment. Izzy, turning to Sidney, caught his eye and winked, as if sharing a secret musical language.
Sidney, with a teasing grin, remarked, "Maybe I should join the piano lessons too."
Izzy, laughing, replied, "You're always welcome, Sid. The more, the merrier."
As the music continued to fill the air, the Crosby-Noir family embraced the joy of learning and creating together. In that moment, the piano became a symbol of harmony not just in music but in the bonds that tied them together, creating memories that would resonate in the heart of their home.

Lego Mandalorian Helmet review
Tumblr media
So this is the first Lego set that I’ve ever built! I never had much interest in legos as a kid, I always kind of wrote them off as ‘nerdy’ and I was above that with my Bratz and Barbies. But recently, building Legos has been all over my TikTok FYP. Creator after creator, video after video, it was all about building Legos. I don’t know what's so satisfying about watching these random strangers all across the world build various Lego sets, maybe the asmar, the appeasing of watching the blocks click into one another or the voiceovers that had the tones of accomplishment but I was HOOKED.
I always had the thought in the back of my head to start building legos, now that legos have evolved from much more than little sets for five-year-olds to construct. I was intimidated by the sheer variety that Lego has now. Of course, they have easy sets for kids, but they also have sets for many genres and ideas. Lego Star Wars, Lego Lord of the Rings, Lego Indiana Jones, there's Lego Piano, Lego Bowzer, Lego Hogwarts, Lego Atari, and Lego F1. Also, the cost of these Lego sets averages around $200 USD (for the larger sets) and the Lego Titanic costs over $600 USD! The price point was a very worrying feature; am I going to spend over $150 on legos that I might not be able to functionally do? I have a small weasel brain which makes me just not get common sense, so the fear of spending a ton of money on something that I wasn’t 100% confident that I could perfectly assemble scared me.
But I forced myself to get over my anxieties and started browsing the Target Lego section where I found some reasonably priced legos that I felt like my brain was big enough to do. So during one of my breaks from work, I placed an order for the Lego Star Wars Mandalorian mask online so I could just go to Target and pick it up after work. Once I arrived at Target and went to the customer service center for my pick up, it turns out I placed my order for Grand Rapids, Michigan instead of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. whoops. I ended up just canceling my order and just buying the Lego set in-store and went on my mery little way home.
Opening it up I was very excited to get started. Looking through the book and doing a quick flip though, I felt less intimidated than I had originally thought I was going to be. I was still worried I was still somehow going to mess up this setup, or that maybe I just had grabbed a defaulted set and I wouldn’t be able to complete it because the legos I had pulled just happened to be the set with missing pieces.
I confidently opened bag one and opened the mini pouch off the side, being careful to not mix the two, took a swing of my Mountain Dew, and got started. Building was surprisingly easy, each bag (with a mini bag inside each large bag) took me around 35 minutes to complete. I honestly had so much fun assembling the tiny mask! I found it very relaxing and fun to build! I put on some tunes (shout out to Orbit Culture, Avatar, Brand of Sacrifice) and got in the zone. I love crafts that are very tedious and have lots of finger work and it made me wish I started doing Legos a lot earlier!
Building the Mandalorian mask was a very good build for beginner builders, the instruction booklet was very easy to follow and the five bags felt very accomplishable and not overwhelming. The only part I “struggled” with was the fronts of the mask, the part where you show the depths of the curve of the mask. I didn’t realize until I was building it, but certain Lego blocks were angled to one side and the other so when you build the mask you need to find the right block with the right angle for the right side. Once I realized that the other side was very easy to build. In total, I think it took me about 3 hours to build, but I would also build one bag go do some housework then go back to build another bag, etc.
I'm gonna give the mask a 10/10, super affordable, super easy, and quick to assemble and I can’t wait to do more!

Tumblr media
Nine-Patch Bento Box Quilt
This super easy bento box quilt is an alteration of the famous design. It features a nine-patch block as its CenterPoint and is a perfect introduction to quilting. The quilt is a piece of the strip, and the instructions help you ensure that each piece of patchwork is the right size before you move on to the next step. It’s a drinking design that is a perfect project for anyone, even if it’s your first quilt.
Dancing Nine-Patch Quilt
It’s very hard to fall in love with the slightly curved appearance of this quilt. The illusion arrives when the nine-patch quilt blocks are enveloped on two sides by a scrappy assortment of squares. These are then flip-flopped to make the layout. The dancing nine-patch quilt is the best project for lovers of scrap quilts. Also, it can be constructed using a themed approach.
Easy Hunters Star Quilt
The hunter’s star quilt pattern looks complicated at first, but in reality, the quilt is simple and easy to construct, even if you are a beginner. As with any quilt pattern, it is essential to understand some construction basics before starting and practice new skills if necessary. The pattern includes instruction on all the basics, in case you need to assign them to them before it’s time to sew.
Kaleidoscope Quilt
The kaleidoscope is another quilt pattern that looks more intricate than it truly is. The quilt blocks are sewn on-point, a craft that beginning quilters often try to fend off, but there is no need to worry about it. Once you have sewn an on-point quilt, you feel relaxed with the technique. This pattern is a good beginning point for acquiring that new skill, with many others you will learn along the way.
Star Crossing Quilt with Piano Key Borders
Star crossing is another quilt pattern that might seem problematic. However, it takes time to assemble, but the designs are really simple to put together. This pattern will help you build skills; use this quilt to learn how to sew the piano key border. It’s one you will turn to again because it looks perfect with almost any field pattern.
Easy Contemporary Baby Quilt
If you wish to start quilting on a smaller scale, then a baby-sized quilt is the best choice. The quilt blocks for this craft project are totally simple to make, so beginners can stitch this one easily. This pattern also has a wonderful contemporary pattern that is begging you to play with pops of color. The double-framed four-patch quilt pattern is just one of your layout options, so it’s a good project to test your design skills.
X’s and O’s Quilt
The version of the X’s and O’s quilt project allows the individual letters to shine. It can be done by swinging blocks into two compositions and adding sashing in between. The letters have a rather scrappy view. Yet, every quilt block is created from the same two fabrics: a focal and a background. Also, you can build this one in any size you want.
Double Four-Patch Scrap Quilt
The simple quilt blocks in this pattern finish at 8 inches square; you can easily sew the equity by using a theme and using up excess materials. The double four patches are good enough for all quilters, even if it’s your first quilt project. You can also transform the quilt patch to give it more dimension by adding sashing within every pattern. Its fun to experiment with, and you could use it to sew various quilts without any two looking alike.
Bricks & Cobblestones Quilt
This lively quilt block pattern is too much fun to create. All the fans of scrap quilts will love how much of your stash this pattern eats up, and the more dynamic and crazy the garments, the better.
Also, you will make these simple quilt blocks from tone-on-tone and brightly colored clothes printed with stripes, geometrics, dots, and small motifs. One block is a rectangle, and the other one is square- make them both and gather the quilt in a mix-and-match manner.
Simplified Puff Quilt
The puff quilts pattern is also known as the biscuit quilt. They are super comfy and ultra-plush. The trick is to sew every square with leeway so that you can easily fill each pocket with fiberfill. While this pattern may seem like a daunting task, a few tricks and tips will make the procedure much easier. The fluffy comforter-like feel is worth the creation; this is the best gift for babies.
Quick and Easy Rag Quilt
Rag quilts are cuddly and soft, so they are excellent quilts for a chilly day. A smooth rag quilt makes a perfect gift for kids and adults, but make sure to make some for yourself. Rag quilts go together immediately and free you from the sewing stress. This is a bonus pattern if you are a beginning quilter. You can finish this easy pattern in just a day or two, even if this is your first time creating a quilt project.
Easy Framed Nine-Patch Quilt
This simple quilt is made from nine patch blocks that are surrounded by frames. The dark bars really make it stand out. The adjoining blocks are then flip-flopped when you sew them into horizontal rows to make a stair-step appearance. You can also make this orientation change pop by using contrasting fabrics. Optionally, you can let it blend with fabrics of similar color value. The instructions include two different sizes, a bed quilt made with 10-inch quilt blocks of square shape and a baby quilt made with 5-inch square blocks.
Easy Rail Fence Baby Quilt
Sew this simple rail fence baby quilt in a few colors, or add a different variety of fabrics. Either way, this strip piece goes together quickly. Also, you can customize the border, and the pattern includes a narrow inner border that breaks the busier pattern, which is a very nice touch.
Simple Rail Fence Quilt
When you explore the quilts pattern, you will find lots of unique variations of the rail fence design. This bed quilt is one example that differs significantly from the baby quilt. It features a stair-step rail pattern that gives the quilt tons of action, even with muted colors. The best news is that nearly each rail fence is easy to sew, which is why all skill-level quilters love them.
Floral Snowballs Quilt
Snowball quilt blocks are simple to make, and you can convene buckets of them in no time. Just sort your floral quilting fabrics and try to make a scrappy quilt in any size you want. These quilt blocks finish at 6 inches square. The great thing about this pattern is that the options are endless. So when you are ready to take on more complex variations, then take a look at the snowball quilt pattern.
Easy Jigsaw Puzzle Quilt
Traditional H quilt blocks are used to create the most popular jigsaw puzzle quilt. The quilt blocks are very easy to gather. You will need to stand aware of fabric placement so the pieces of the puzzle emerge as they should. The pattern walks you through one step of the layout at a time. The pattern is made with 6-inch blocks, but you also find the instructions for 9 and 12-inch quilt blocks if you would like to go a bit bigger.
Endless Stairs Quilt
Endless stairs is a quilt pattern that comes with a lot of creative potential. The quilt blocks go together quickly and are simple to make, leaving you free to establish more on color and contrast than technique. As you play with the finished quilt blocks, you will discover many unique layouts. Just piece them together how you want or follow the instructions; your quilt will be best either way.
Bonnie Scotsman quilt
The bonnie Scotsman pattern is assembled with straight grain bars and squares. It’s a beginner-friendly patchwork pattern because you will have no stretchy bias edges to pledge with. Also, you will find the procedure instructions for assembling it one patch at a time, which is best for scrappy quilts. There is a strip-pricing option also for anyone who wishes to create a batch of identical blocks. Suggestions of two layouts are also included, but many more arrangements are desirable for this versatile design.
Scrappy Hearts Wall Hanging
Every quilter needs a heart-shaped pattern, and this one is best for beginning quilters. These 6-inch heart blocks are elegant, and the pattern shows you how simple they are to make. You will find the complete instructions for assembling the scrappy hearts into a wall hanging. Whether it’s a full-sized quilt or a quick weekend project, it’s a fun and very simple pattern once you get going.

hello hello sorry if this is an odd ask but i re-read your "summer suprised us" fic every once in a while even though im not into dsmp anymore, and it hits EVERY time. lovely fic thankyou for writing it :]
ty so much! that fic was very fun to write and taught me a surprising amount about classical music. if you dont mind imma take the opportunity to talk about some little details on the music i chose and why. here's the fic link before i ramble.
Starting with Fur Elise, this one is primarily there because it's a common beginners piece, and at the start Tubbo is just learning piano, but also because I thought the simple melody from the right hand and the somewhat chaotic discordant notes from the left symbolised tubbo's mental state pretty well: very put together on the outside, more panicked on the inside. also, the way the song switches from a pleading composition at the beginning to a more panic and frantic one towards the end is rather fitting for the manberg arc, when most of the fic is set.
The second one mentioned is Mass in Times of War by Haydn, which Tommy is said to tear up at. This is because the song is, as the title says, about holding on to faith and religion during conflict, which I think was very important to tommy.
The next two piano pieces don't have much meaning, but a vocal song is played twice: Orrin Tucker's You'd Be Surprised, released in 1939. The song itself is about a man who seems demure and unattractive on the outside, but is secretly a very good/kind of 'wild' lover (for the standards of the 1930s), but i thought the meaning was pretty easy to twist, so in summer surprised us the song hints at first schlatt and then wilbur as unassuming and pleasant seeming men with hidden intentions or darker sides.
And finally, twice in the fic the phrase "da capo al fine" is used, meaning "from the head (beginning) to the end", essentially instructing someone to play the part they just played once more. here are the two lines where it's used:
It tastes awful. It is the first time you drink it, but it will not be the last. He gives you a cigarette next. Puts his hands over yours, and guides you through the notes, da capo al fine.
-
New L’Manberg dies like everything else. You create a new country. Da capo al fine . You still smoke.
okay ramble over hope you enjoyed
