the pay-by-the-piece prefab style of playground equipment that proliferates in my local area is really SO architecturally uninspired tho. geodesic domes for climbing structures have potential but no one ever does anything interesting with them its just a unit you chunk down on the lawn

i genuinely think the most fun you can have is climbing around on old construction equipment that hasn't run in over ten years. just climb around on it. fall off a few times. it's literally so fun. this also applies to really old trucks and houses that nobody's lived in for years and are definitely not up to code btw.

Okay I kinda talked about it in the tags of my reblog but I saw some replies and I think this is worth making a proper response for.
A few people have asked, "since Candace is the protagonist of Phineas and Ferb, doesn't that technically make Phineas and Ferb themselves the antagonists?" The answer is actually no. As Dan Povenmire said, them and what they're doing is a part of the setting.
First, you need to understand that a protagonist is a character we're following the story of who is moving the plot by trying to achieve their goal. An antagonist is a person that is stopping the protagonist from achieving that goal.
Candace's primary goal is to stop her brothers from making dangerous inventions by showing her mom Linda what they're doing. So, her antagonist is whoever is stopping her from showing the invention to Linda. Phineas and Ferb make no attempt to stop Candace... ever. In fact, Linda herself somewhat fills the antagonist role better, as she's often hesitant to be dragged home by Candace.
However, there's a force much greater than Linda that is truly responsible for making it impossible for Candace to show the inventions to her mom most days. Candace knows of this force, knows that it works fast and consistently, but does not know what it is or why it is trying to stop her. But, whether they realize it or not, the audience knows what that force is. Candace's real antagonist...
...is Perry the Platypus.
Okay, let me explain. Almost every single day, Perry sneaks off to stop whatever evil scheme Doofenshmirtz has planned. However, the end of their conflicts almost always result in some mishap that inadvertently entwines their story with Phineas and Ferb's, mainly by cleaning up whatever they did that day. If Perry never fought Doofenshmirtz, there wouldn't be a mishap with Doof's -inator that causes the boys' invention to disappear.
Neither of them know it, but the closer Perry gets to completing his goal, the closer Candace is to failing hers. The invisible ticking clock Candace can feel the existence of is just her consistently getting caught in the crossfire of her pet trying to stop the plans of an evil scientist.
...But if we're being completely honest, Candace's real antagonist is the writers, who concoct a bunch of convoluted ways for her to fail that really aren't the fault of any of the characters. "Act of God" is the most accurate reason she fails in almost every episode.

My older sister's girl scout troop (and our mom was the top lady) did a safety review of our school playgrounds as an activity for a badge. One of the things noted was a plank missing from a bridge like in this image
Tumblr media
A missing plank that left a sizable hole that could cause injury
They did their inspection and submitted their findings to the principal
Fast forward 2 years and I'm running across the bridge at recess and my foot goes in the missing plank hole.
I broke my tibia in half.
My mom was furious at the school, they knew the bridge was an issue from the girl scout safety review. But because the playground wasn't kept within a fenced in area technically anyone could get injured at any time on it and it wouldn't be the schools fault cause they can't watch it 24/7 and it's the person who plays on the playgrounds fault so they can't be sued even if it happened during school hours and school sanctioned play on playground time.
The bridge part of the playground was wrapped up in so much caution tape for the next several months and was replaced with a newer safer playground for totally unrelated reasons. Meanwhile my mom decided that my and my sister were not going to public schools and had us enrolled in private school afterwards
I just found out that my mom had me in a Montessori type shit experimental school as a kid this explains so much
