Ok, I think I have a pretty good idea of why a lot of Akechi's dialogue is... like that.

So, even before his confidant truly started, I noticed that he has a real knack for directing the flow of a conversation. This is very fitting for someone who is both a detective and skilled at interviews - when there is a topic and a goal, Akechi is in his element.

All this to say, he's actually kind of controlling when it comes to conversational flow. He probes for information, or turns the conversation around to a particular topic, usually the Phantom Thieves. He manages to take a few of Joker's dialogue options and spin them so they sound mildly incriminating in the context he's placed them in - the only way to truly get around this is to pick answers that feign indifference, and even then, that's more than a bit telling. He's clearly very good at this kind of thing.

But then, we get conversations where either Joker does something he didn't expect, or else he doesn't have a particular goal in mind - and the conversation stutters. In the first instance, Joker does something (a particularly egregious example is putting his glasses on him and fluffing his hair in rank 3) which both leaves him wrong-footed and no longer in perfect control of the situation. He just kind of... freezes, for awhile. It's hilarious. He has no idea how to respond.

He picks up control again in the phone call afterwards, having chosen to play into it, turning this "fooling the crowds" into a kind of game or secret between them. Nice save.

But in instances where there isn't an obvious topic and the goal is somewhat nebulous, for instance, that one Leblanc scene, it becomes pretty apparent that Akechi doesn't have the right "script" to go off of. Again, it's particularly notable in that scene, because I'm fairly sure he didn't have any specific reason to be at Leblanc, other than him looking for a quiet spot now that public opinion has turned on him. And because there isn't anything specific he's digging for, he kind of just ends up throwing things at the wall to see what will stick. Probing for any kind of recognizable reaction that he can jump on and work with, and that just doesn't really happen in this scene.

He references Sae, a woman in a respectable position, to Sojiro, but instead of that netting a welcome, it earns his ire, given Sae's recent actions against him. He then tries to greet Joker, his... rival? friend? enemy? person who at least seems to somewhat enjoy spending time with him? But Joker's responses are somewhat short, and Akechi practically wilts. He tries to commiserate by oversharing. He tries to involve Futaba and reaches out for the only topic of interest he can think of around "young people". He compliments the coffee. He compliments Joker. He tries to invoke that connection between them. None of it is really sticking, nor does it serve as a jumping off point for him to steer the conversation, or even really start one.

So, he basically just ends up having a one-sided chat with himself and then leaves. Hilarious. Also a little sad, if I'm being honest. It's really giving "guy with no friends who only knows how to speak to adults" energy. If there's no specific purpose to the exchange, or he is not in control of its direction, he seems to be kind of out of his depth. He succeeds only in being a little awkward and confusing, more than anything.

It's time to have a chat! I've posted about this before, but I can tell when requests are just intended to be You and not X Reader.

Ask yourself: "is y/n just Me here?" and "Am I requesting an x reader fic for me AND others to enjoy, or am I using the author for my own self fufillment fantasy?"

And if that's the case, please don't send it. I write x reader, not x You Specifically.

Like there is a world of a difference between an ask like:

"What do you think about [situation]", "here's my ideas on this", "can you write [situation]", "I can totally see him do [situation] like awww", or "omg imagine [situation] i'm simping so hard" (these are all great!)

Versus...

"Me and [character] would absolutely [situation]. I just want him to [situation] with me and I'd be so good to him and he sees that, he loves me. I'd respond this way, because i'm a very [trait] person. This is so me and him, because then I would start doing [situation]. So can you write that?" and then blink at me expecting me to write fanfiction based on that ask. That's not y/n, that's just You, and I'm not writing fanfiction of You Specifically. Also you're not talking with me, you're talking at me.

Y/N is all of us and none of us at the same time. Everyone should be able to enjoy the writing! And going forward it is canon in my fics that Keigo is weirded out by anybody who treats me like a request machine for their personal spank bank (sfw or nsfw) and not a person to bounce fun ideas WITH or request ideas from, if that's any disincentive lmao.

Especially if you're gonna word it in a "chop chop, gimme my personalized content, I don't got all day" way. Be nice.

95% of you are incredible and amazing and wonderful, and I don't like paying attention to the vocal minority, but ya know. It is making me feel a bit Dehumanized and Used here.

people can use this site however they want but there's something almost- idk, sad? about how few people are actually using their blogs. you can turn themes on and have skeletons dancing in the background. you can make everything hot pink. your blog is your scrapbook and you can put whatever you want in there. tags are okay at organizing things so you can have just a whole archive of cool shit to look at later. i know people complain a lot about people liking stuff about reblogging for engagement, and on one hand i get that- it is WILD to see a drawing i spent hours on get only 12 reblogs and 60 likes. Absolute culture shock compared to my previous fandoms. but i don't think you should reblog anything to make artists happy. i think you should reblog things so you can find them again. i think you should queue things to appear on the dash at specific times on certain days. i think you should reblog things so when you're talking to your friends about xyz post you saw you can look in your blog's archive and find it again. i think you should reblog things so that your dash is filled with one really sleepy cat. with the loss of reblogs there's the loss of engagement, which Does hurt the community-focus that makes tumblr so appealing, but idk i just wish people were more excited about the incredible amount of customization that tumblr allows and took advantage of that more

Don't plan to be critical/negative about Veilguard, but the idea that companions will have completely unique abilities that they alone will have access to and only being able to control them and use those unique abilities via ability wheel is pretty upsetting imo

Your CYOA fic was actually the first fic I genuinely love and enjoy when I got into the OBM fandom back in around 2020 or 2021 ish?? I genuinely, absolutely love the amount of effort your put in. like FR, links embedded in the phrases or texts??? Multiple choices??? The story too???? SECRETS???? Your CYOA is incredible and I certainly don't mind having to wait years for it because I know without a doubt, it's going to be such a banger of a fic, its so full of life. i'm just gonna ramble a lil under the cut about my idea for kaiya's j.jk verse, and y'all can let me know if it's making sense :' )) tw for mentions of child death and domestic abuse -- i don't go into any detail whatsoever, but pls be careful if you find the subject matter upsetting.

i was really trying to figure out why a cursed spirit would want to attach itself to kaiya since they're not known to look favorably upon humans. initially i thought that maybe a yokai like futakuchi onna would see itself in kaiya, who also experiences an abusive relationship with her husband, and decide to help her, but then why would it stick around? kaiya could make a binding vow with it or something, but kaiya wouldn't do that bc she'd view it as a monster even if it did save her from her husband.

then it struck me that maybe a child-like spirit might attach itself to kaiya if it viewed her as its mother. then my brain jumped to the idea that since reincarnation ( of a sort ) is a thing in jjk, kaiya could be the reincarnation of a vengeful cursed spirit's mother! and perhaps that spirit was once a young child whose mother ran away with him, escaping yet another angry man; perhaps things went awry on the road, his mother died, and the child was left to wander alone until he, too, died, and became a cursed spirit. then he continued to wander, confused as to where his mother had gone.

now, that could work a lot better with kaiya's character. she would be distraught and frightened of the cursed spirit, especially if it's just killed her husband, but if it speaks in a child's voice? calls for her as if upset that she's upset?? she'd more inclined to be sympathetic and view the spirit in a gentler light. it wanted to protect her, was scared for her, has been lost and searching for her all this time. it's all very overwhelming in the moment, but i can see kaiya accepting the spirit and protecting it just as it protects her.

i'm still contemplating what the cursed spirit's abilities and appearance will be just bc i don't want him to look too human. but all my brain is imagining atm is a white blob with a lil sedge hat and yukata asdfs i'm tempted for his ability to have something to do with rain so he can be similar to amefuri kozo

Hello, I suddenly had Melanie Martinez's Dollhouse stuck in my head and I realized that if you take out the couple of lines that specifically refer to the parents of a nuclear family, it's a good fit for the Kurashikis (and the Fields, sort of) playing their roles and waiting for their moment of revenge

I think I've had this thought before when I encountered this song in the wild but decided I did not vibe with it enough for the two despite it, probably because I personally cannot place aside the different brand of familial issues but more power to you lol

it made me imagine them really small and I like to imagine there's a bunch of innocuous things they used to be told by their parents that they probably don't even remember but that still weighed more heavily on the back of their minds once the household started to shrink– be good to your sister, don't annoy your brother now he's busy, you're older so you need to behave well like a good role model, you're grown enough to not act so difficult all the time, you gotta take care of these two until I'm back alright little guy
