As someone who rewatches BtVS every few months or so and was thrilled to discover you enjoy the show too, I would love to know your fave episodes.

Also, super excited for your vampire obikin fic!!

Oh man, the noise I made when I saw this ask. Someone actually asking me to talk about my hyperfixation? Without me having to direct them towards it? My lucky day, indeed! I'm tempted to say every episode is my favourite (except for maybe 'Where the Wild Things Are'), but I will limit myself to five!

Fool for Love - Really enjoy the ride we go through in terms of Spike's character arc throughout the series, and I thought this episode really did him, his relationships, and his background a lot of justice. The scene where he's explaining the 'lesson' to Buffy in the alleyway, spliced with his fight with Nicky in the subway, is absolute perfection. And I really thought they did a great job mixing the flashbacks on Buffy with the sister episode on Angel.

Becoming Part 1/2 - Not the biggest Angel fan when he's on Buffy (it took his own show for me to warm to him), but his flashbacks did a lot to inform us of who he was, whereas before we didn't get a lot of that? Plus, Buffy determined to save the world despite knowing that it'll destroy hers, is both heartbreaking and inspiring. And the part where Angelus has Buffy cornered and is about to take the final blow, when Buffy catches the blade and shows us why she's the slayer??? Gets me every. damn. time.

The Zeppo - I know, I know, Xander is... a piece of work, to put it lightly. But the whimsy, the self-effacing humour, the genuine character growth that Xander goes through (and then seemingly loses come season six but whatever), all makes it really stand out to me.

I Only Have Eyes for You - LISTEN, again, it's not a ground-breaking episode, but I fucking love it. Flashbacks to the 1950s? A ghost story??? Placing the traditionally 'masculine' male character in the role of a vulnerable, scared woman??? THE FLAMINGO'S 'I ONLY HAVE EYES FOR YOU' PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND???? Not to mention the development of Buffy and her grief and guilt is really beautifully done.

The Gift. What more is there to say? And while I enjoyed season 6 and, to a lesser extent season 7, I really do think this would have been the perfect finale for the show. "Be brave. Live." <- this has gotten me through a lot of tough spots, for sure.

But I honestly adore almost every episode. Just as you do, I re-watch Buffy an obsessive amount of times - it's my comfort show! What are your favourites, anon?

And you didn't ask this but here is my quick top five list for Angel: 'Are You Now Or Have You Ever Been' , 'Five by Five', 'Lullaby', 'A Hole in the World', 'Not Fade Away' ✨ (and I'm so glad you're excited for the fic! Almost done the first draft, then it's time to comb through it all and hope it makes sense. And for those who don't watch Buffy, don't worry, the story should still make sense - it's mostly me mashing together Star Wars lore with basic Buffy stuff and hoping it works?)

hello ✨! , hope you fine <3 , According to Yana Sebastian is the protagonist , i am A Fan of kuro since 2016 , and i just knew that 6 months ago!! lol , i thought that Ciel is the protagonist Because the Story is about him and his job as the watchdog and his family , so it is very interesting that Sebastian is the protagonist !! , i am so excited to see what will happen to him and what is the role he will play , i mean he is the protagonist so he must be the most character who will be affected , what do you think he will do or what will happened to him ? ….. thank you ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Sebastian as the main character

Yeah, he’s officially the main character, according to Yana-san. I don’t recall any tweets specifically about that, but she did say so in one of the art books… was it Artworks 2? We also have to consider the fact she went to Editor K with “I want to write about a demon butler”, not “I want to write about an aristocratic boy”. In fact, it looks to me like she recycled an older character concept she’d originally meant for another story to become our “Ciel” Phantomhive; his name was Ao (which means “blue”), and he was some sort of young, aristocratic detective. I used to have an image of him, from her old blog, but I haven’t been able to find that image again these past few years.

Anyway, yes, this means Sebastian should go through some sort of character development. And, even though he’s centuries (or even millennia) old, among demons he might be considered “young”. So, I do often call this series the demon’s Bildungsroman — his coming-of-age story.

I’ve got some old posts about this, so you might check the tags of this post for more information. Probably find the most under #series end, #end of the series, #series ending, #end of the manga, and maybe something like #predictions, #emotions, #epilogue, #character development, #soul devouring, and #soul effect. Maybe even #devoured soul effect? Also please see the Tagging Masterpost for a link that’s about this topic. How and when the series might end.

But mostly, I expect for Sebastian to get the meal he’s been promised. Then, when he eats our earl’s soul, something will happen that he wasn’t expecting. Like a blossoming of emotions that he didn’t know he could feel — love, loss, shame, regret, a heavy burden — stuff like that. The sorts of emotions that make humans cry. He previously told Beast that he didn’t “yet” have a “jot” of understanding about such things as love or loss. Then there’s the scene in the witch arc, where Sebastian is crying, but it’s just from mustard gas, which he had never encountered before. He even says to himself he doesn’t have the ability to cry from emotions. I think he’s gained a little taste of these, but our earl’s soul is full of such emotions.

Demons might be the epitope of “you are what you eat”. Othello says that most demon contracts are over so quickly because the humans who make contracts usually have simple wishes that are easily granted. This suggests those humans themselves are somewhat simple. But he also says there have been notable exceptions, and I think our earl is one of them. Plus, Sebastian has accepted a contract he knows might take a while to fulfill, due to the terms placed upon it. He’s ok with that, since a human lifespan isn’t very long to him, and he thinks the wait will make the finished meal all the tastier. Yana-san calls him a “perverted gourmet” because he likes to “prepare” his meals in a way that alters the taste; he wants to put his Young Master through a lot of ordeals in order to “season his soul”. And his goal is to make this soul taste different than others he’s had before. I think he will succeed in that!

I expect the demon to be very satisfied with the meal, but then it changes him. He becomes more like our earl. He’s still a demon, but he has a better understanding of human emotions. From personal experience, not just as some outsider or observer. And I expect him to gain the ability to cry due to emotions. And he should act accordingly…. That’s also probably under #mother3 predictions. Oddly, due to Mother3 theory, I ultimately expect something “good” or constructive to come out of it all, even though it might require an extremely destructive event to get there….

✨⭐️ i wanna hear about something you’ve been very excited to write about recently!

I’ve thought about this way too hard! For the most of this year I have only been writing one fic, camera ready, as you might know

But this is for the “Director’s cut” ask meme and I have to select a section.

Recently, you said? If you let me, I’ll expand the time span to May when I posted a chapter titled tailgating that I was really… sizzling about. Let me give a few examples of passages that I really loved writing.

The chapter happens during a shooting week of a porn film and it introduces a new side character. Before that happens, there is some domestic countryside picnic fluff, director/producer Rod takes his young star Seb for an off-road drive in his pick-up truck and they swim in a small lake.

“Last one is a rotten egg!” he shouts, speeds up with a few running steps and dives in headfirst.

He resurfaces a few strokes later and sees Rod wading towards him in the chest deep water, looking mad as hell.

“Are you out of your fucking mind? Never jump in headfirst in any water you don’t know! You want your skull crushed in by an underwater log? Get spinal cord injury from a rock?”

Sebastian is almost about to say “You’re just mad because you lost” but holds his tongue. A genuine sense of shame creeps in instead; he’s brought up by the water, he knows, has heard the advice enough times as kid to know it by heart. He knows he only wanted to look hot and feels stupid for it.

“Sorry,” he says.

Rod gets close enough to give a reassuring rub on his wet head.

“No problem. Glad nothing bad happened.”

I love writing the Rod/Seb relationship in this. In the beginning of the multi-chapter fic it’s mainly a professional relationship where one holds an authority position due to the professional status (and significant age difference), but later in the fic - before this chapter - it develops to a close mentor/protegé -relationship and to a sexual one. (And on the other hand it has been sexual from the beginning because of the field they work in, so.) The stance of the mentor gets more and more these father-figure-ish authority/caretaker tones, like in the above diving scene.

The pair has sex on the opened cargo bed of the truck (I LOVED THIS DETAIL SO MUCH, it stems from the moment last year when Tripp Tracy went completely on tangent the Tripp Tracy way, talking about how many Canes players drive pick-ups and how it tells good things about their character, PLUS I’m just a sucker for country clichés) and gets interrupted.

The rider halts his horse by the hood of the car.

“Sorry,” he says, but Sebastian can see from his face that he isn’t. “The cab of your truck blocked you guys from my view. Didn’t mean to intrude.”

Rod stands unbelievably casually by the tailgate, a hand on his hip like greeting unexpected people with his wet dick out was no big deal, business as usual.

“Price!” he says, perfectly exhilarated. “I didn’t expect you so soon.”

“I figure you didn’t”, Price smirks, looking shamelessly down at Rod’s nudity from his position high up on his horse. “I felt good driving and decided to go on through the night. Thought I’d get to sleep here anyway.” He dismounts his horse and pats the side of its neck. “And get my girl a chance to stretch her legs.”

Well yeah. I enjoyed SO MUCH writing this character. Pornstar/cowboy who pops in for a shoot on his way between two rodeos. And hunts. (And fishes, I planned to include a fly fishing scene in this fic but ended up leaving it out)

“Oh my,” Carey says, holding his hand and his gaze. “You know, sometimes it happens. When I’m hunting deer and I got one right in my scope, I know I got my aim right and I’m ready to fire – and the doe happens to look back and stares right up the barrel of my rifle with those big brown eyes –“ he lets slowly go of Sebastian’s hand and turns his face at Rod, “— It gets really hard to shoot the gun.”

YES it is clichéd and over-the-top and stupid but at the same time the dicky dom cowboy is just one of favourite creations.

So yes, this is a chapter that I have been very excited to write. Bringing in the surprise minor character in a surprise way, adding new emotional tones and layers to the complex relationship of two major characters (there is another soft moment in the very end of the chapter), and just rolling in the countryside setting and topping it with some filthy sex with Dom/sub tones was just a great example of the self-indulgence I write this whole fic with.
