Name: Yuma Chitose

Arcanas: Strength, Sun

Personas: Pistis, Thalassa

A young girl who desires nothing more than companionship. She clings to Kyoko and Nagisa due to their strength and is especially close to Kyoko due to her being protected by her when she was attacked by a shadow after her mother was killed by one. Yuma desperately desired to be useful to Kyoko and by extension, S.E.E.S. and decided to follow them into Tartarus. However, they weren’t aware of her following them and Yuma was accidentally left behind in Tartarus for a week. When S.E.E.S. realizes her location, they immediately rush into Tartarus to find her and where she awakens to her persona.

Due to her perceptive nature, she was always wary of Kyubey, the director of S.E.E.S. themselves and managed to escape him when he attempted to sacrifice S.E.E.S, teaming up with Homura to ambush him. After his defeat and resulting incarceration, Yuma helps the rest of the team with the aftermath. She eventually breaks down from the pressure of being the caretaker reveals to the team that her mother was abusive to her and the reason she’s so perceptive is to help predict her mother’s outbursts. She says she was worried that if she showed this kind of selfish attitude, they would abandon her. S.E.E.S. vehemently rejects this thought and assures her that no matter what, she belongs here. This causes her to awaken to her second persona.

PERSONAS

Obviously, Yuma’s first persona is Pistis, the spirit of good faith and reliability. Yuma desperately wants to be useful, with her faith in the others and being incredibly reliable. Like Lucia, Pistis is a navigational persona with Yuma being engulfed in both her personas within the bubbles they hold. Pistis’s main body is an artificial reef, where a coral reef grows upon man made objects. A reef is something that allows protection for all, no matter if they are predator or prey. Yuma is protective of the people around her and desires to help them all similar to a coral reef. The beings that surround her her axolotl like, ever young and able to regenerate. This fits her persona’s healing abilities.

After confronting her insecurities, Pistis becomes Thalassa. Thalassa is the personification of the seas, wielding both benevolence and great power. Yuma, despite her age has great potential and due to her own perceptive nature, managed to subvert a disaster. She has become much more confident in herself, with the smaller beings that surrounded Pistis becoming a giant sea dragon. She is now able to choose what she protects, and what she needs to protect people against.

When Sayaka became a witch, her body was drawn into Oktavia's labyrinth, so it stands to reason that the same thing must have happened to Nagisa with Charlotte's labyrinth too.

Magia Record headcanon: What happened to Yuma after the events of her side story?

After Yuma and Kyoko reunite, they return to Kazamino, where they continue to work together to get what they need to survive, as depicted in Oriko Magica. Kyoko sees a news report about the incident during which they met, and learns that Yuma’s grandparents are looking for her.  During a later conversation, Yuma happily says that she wants to be just like her Kyoko nee-chan, and Kyoko realizes that she doesn’t want that for Yuma.  That night, while Yuma is asleep, Kyoko goes looking for information.

The following day, she tells Yuma that they’re going somewhere new that day, ultimately leading her to her grandparents’ home, where she rings the doorbell.  Upon opening the door, they are immensely relieved to see Yuma safe and sound and thank Kyoko for bringing her home.  Not one for long goodbyes, Kyoko moves to leave, but Yuma asks where she’s going.  Kyoko replies that this is where they part ways and wishes her a good life, and Yuma panics, breaking free from her grandparents and rushing toward Kyoko, tearfully asking what she did wrong, apologizing for being a bad girl and begging Kyoko not to leave her.

Realizing that this won’t be as easy as she thought, Kyoko kneels and explains to Yuma that the reason she lives the way she does is because she has nothing to go back to, that she doesn’t want Yuma to end up like her and can’t give her the life that she deserves, but her grandparents love her very much and can give her a good life, so Kyoko wants her to stay with them.  Yuma is still upset, and Kyoko hugs her, stating that Yuma is the best thing to ever happen to her, and she will always be her Kyoko nee-chan, but now it’s time for her to go back to her family and live the life that she deserves.

As Kyoko again tries to leave, Yuma’s grandparents call out to her, wanting to repay her for bringing their granddaughter home and ask her to at least stay for dinner.  Kyoko accepts, and during the meal, Yuma tells them a little too much about what Kyoko taught her.  Kyoko expects to be in trouble, but to her surprise, they ask if she needs a place to stay.  She has been living with them ever since and has become like a second granddaughter to them.

The main character in this au. A second year in Gekkoukan High’s craft and gardening club, and avid SEES member. Although her persona Gretchen, starts out weak it soon gains all sorts of spells and attacks, making it quite strong by the end of the battle, but her starting moveset includes a lot of bless and healing moves. She uses a short bow in battle, and within the bow is a hidden blade. Her playstyle includes ranged attacks that can be charged with Bless Damage.

Name: Sayaka Miki

Arcana: The Justice

Persona: Oktavia

A childhood friend of Madoka and member of not only the baseball club, but also a hall monitor. Although she struggles in grades and academics, she specializes in her athletics, making her quite useful in Tartarus. Her persona, Oktavia specializes in Ice and Water Spells, with the inclusion of some healing abilities. Her play style has the fastest attack speed, allowing her to quickly dish out large amounts of damage without taking too long.

Name: Mami Tomoe

Arcana: The Empress

Persona: Candeloro

A third year of Gekkoukan High and Treasurer of the student council, as well as the leader of the SEES. She is the most experienced of all the SEES members, gaining her persona at her second year of middle school. Desires friends and companions. Her persona is Candeloro, who specializes in Gun, Debuff and Wind attacks. Her weapon is a musket like gun that can be aimed for more precise shots. Her play style is unique, as she can grapple around the battle field using a grappling hook. She can pull enemies closer to her, fling them around, amd grapple to high standing objects.

Name: Kyoko Sakura

Arcana: The Chariot

Persona: Ophelia

A dropout of Gekkoukan High and the second oldest member of SEES. Her family, or more specifically, her father was part of a cult who desires the Fall of Humanity as well as the coming of Nyx themselves. Has a large appetite. Her persona is Ophelia, who uses Fire, Earth, and Physical Attacks. She uses a spear in battle and does the most damage out of all SEES members. She can create small illusions to taunt her opponents into a certain area and attack the illusion.

Name: Homura Akemi

Arcana: Death/The Fool

Persona: Homulilly

A transfer student from Tokyo and antagonistic towards the SEES. She seems to have animosity towards The SEES, except Madoka, who Homura has a soft spot for, but will not refrain from using force against her. Her persona is Homulilly, Who specializes in Psychokinesis, Nuclear and Gun Attacks. When you fight against her, she utilizes heavy artillery and setting traps using her bombs. During the Answer, she becomes playable, with her using a bow and arrow and the capability of trap setting, using handmade pipe bombs.

Name: Nagisa Momoe

Arcana: The Magician

Persona: Charlotte

A shadow-human hybrid. Made to see if humans without the potential could possibly weaponize shadows. She is the result of said experiment, and the only successful surviving one at that. Yearns for unconditional love and loves cheese. The “clips” in her hair aren’t actually clips; they are a part of her. Her persona is Charlotte, who specializes in Debuff, Lightning, and Gun spells, and she uses dolls as weapons.

A young girl who admires and looks up to Kyoko. Although abused in the past, she is mentally strong and can be unexpectedly mature for her age. She despises being alone or being useless so she is often doing chores around the dorm or clinging with Nagisa or Kyoko. Her persona is Pistis, who specializes in Navigation and supporting her allies in battle.

Name: Oriko Mikuni

Arcana: The High Priestess

Persona: Sotria

The former president of the student council and daughter of a politician, Oriko Mikuni seemed to live the dream, until her father was caught in a scandal. Everything crumbled as she was bullied off the place as student council president and rumours about her flew Rampant. Found meaning in bringing the Fall. Her persona is Sotria, who specializes in Bless and Buffing Moves, but also can analyze her opponents like Yuma and enchant objects to use as weapons. Her weapon is strange. It’s a crystal ball she enchanted.

Arcana: The Devil

Persona: Latria

Oriko’s loyal servant. Once was timid and shy, but became the bold character she is through her wish of becoming someone worthy of Oriko. Although she is no stranger to violent attacks and mutilating her opponents, her mind is pure like a child’s, and she loves sweets. Her persona is Latria, who specializes in Curse and Physical spells. Her weapon is two claws shaped like sickles.

I like that Yuma and Nagisa's weapons sort of match with their respective mentor/big sister figures, being a polearm and some sort of firearm.

PMMM ships and what I've seen of them and/or what I think they'd do in bed. Because I'm weird.

Homura x Kyouko : They pretty much just chill together, clothes are generally optional even when they're not dating yet. Homura wears a Nun outfit when they're doing foreplay because Kyouko wants to dissappoint her father, and Homura's kinda into both of those things. They're surprisingly vanilla in the end though, excluding when Homura pauses time to eat Kyouko out on a bench in a crowded park.

Homura x Mami : Bondage play, but it's specifically Mami that wants to be tied up. There have also been guns in various orifaces, some of which may have been fired on accident when the wielder came.

Homura x Madoka : Just pure body worship from Homura's end, but when Madoka doesn't psyche herself out of taking charge there's bondage and corruption and whispers that'd make Hitomi explode.

Homura x Sayaka : Homura likes to tease Sayaka in many ways. May or may not involve tying her up and making Sayaka watch as she plays with Madoka, Kyouko or even Kyosuke. Meanwhile Sayaka likes it when Homura drops enough of her walls that she can protect her again.

Kyouko x Sayaka : Mortal combat as a love language, alongside some incredibly kinky stuff with Sayaka's regen.

Sayaka x Madoka : Knight and Princess play. Madoka plays a surprisingly good seductress too.

Sayaka x Mami : 'Let senpai teach you~' stuff, for the most part. Though they'll sometimes fight a witch naked.

Kyouko x Madoka : Kyouko's protective instincts trigger hard. The lesbian sex is as vanilla as lesbian sex gets, but outside of that it's mostly domestic. May or may not involve adopting Yuma.

Kyouko x Mami : They tie themselves as tightly together as they can using chains and ribbons. Abandonment issues have a place in this bedroom.

Madoka x Mami : Mami struggled with it for a while, but apparently Madoka kinda likes being tied up and left to stew for a couple hours. Also a bit of petplay in return.

what PMMM fan fictions do you know/read/enjoy?

I haven't read any pmmm fanfics in awhile but theres one old one i remember really liking.

Iirc It involves a Post-rebellion post-homura world with madoka and homura are gone together to the law of cycles with it being a kyoko focused story, her looking after yuma and eventually coming in contact with sayaka after yuma gets hurt by a wraith. Sayaka having her memories still intact but isn't a magical girl anymore but has very limited healing magic capabilities through objects like her hairpin.

I can't find it atm, i really want to reread it.

so the thing about pmmm wishes is —

everyone says, "well, if i was a magical girl, id wish for x" or "why do the girls wish for x when they could wish for y, which would help more people?".

here's the thing. it's a multifaceted issue, but to break it down, the reasons are:

kyubey targets girls who are actively in distress (in some cases, while they are literally dying) who are not in the right state of mind to think through a wish or its consequences.

it's implied that if a girl were to wish away x bad thing, something would replace it that's just as bad.

kyubey (to my understanding) targets girls who are going through puberty...which can happen as young as 7-9 years old. girls that age aren't going to think through a massive world altering wish.

for one, think about some of the canon contracts seen in pmmm (or, in madoka's case, the times kyubey first attempts contracting her). mami is only approached after being in a car crash that killed both her parents, and the implication is that without kyubey, mami would have also died. due to the situation, mami made a wish without fully thinking it through ("i want to live"). kyoko is approached after her family is going through hard times and quite possibly starving (due to canon hints and her fixation on food and aggression when it's wasted) because of her abusive father's actions. homura is approached after watching her only real friend who ever cared about her die while homura was helpless to do anything. sayaka is approached after her childhood friend has had a breakdown, and after she sees her mentor-figure die right in front of her. kyubey targets madoka after she's in near death situations, when she's in mental or emotional distress and not thinking, and while manipulating her and trying to appeal to her morals and better nature.

and if you want to factor magia record into canon, more suspicious contract situations include kyubey approaching a girl who's about to attempt suicide, a girl whose sister is about to die, a girl being abused and neglected, a child who just accidentally killed her whole family, as well as several other characters who made wishes out of sheer desperation.

let's say you are a child and your younger sister is sick with something like cancer. you are distressed and, at your young age, probably not thinking of "big picture" ideas. and suddenly an alien approaches you, saying you can make any wish. it's not shocking that a young girl (or anyone, really) under stress due to something like that would be more likely to make a wish like "i want my sister to be healthy" and not "i wish cancer was cured/never existed". again, kyubey does not target girls who will make well thought out, well worded wishes. he targets those who will make spur of the moment ones that can be twisted or taken overly literal.

besides that, pmmm has a theme of "if x bad thing is gone, something equally bad may replace it". witches are gone in madoka's universe, but wraiths exist. if a girl wished to cure all forms of cancer, it's entirely possible another disease would suddenly pop up to "replace". remember, one of the in-universe "rules" is whatever hope you get out of something, you also get an equal measure of despair. getting rid of cancer breeds hope, another disease replacing it brings despair.

this is all not counting the age factor. kyubey canonically targets girls young enough to be in elementary school (nagisa, yuma, ui, etc). he does sometimes go after older girls, but only for a given factor of "older". he's not once (iirc?) ever shown to target an adult, who would likely think their wish through more. besides the obvious factors i mentioned (distress/hope despair balance), the age of the girls does little to help the fact that most wishes aren't some big picture thing. a little girl isn't going to be thinking of the ripple effect of her wish, she'll wish for something that affects her personally. and that's not a byproduct of stupidity, just being a child. this is especially true since children are unable to fully understand the consequences of their actions and don't have the fully developed brain and life experience of an adult.

it's all. so annoying to me because people sometimes act so weirdly smug about "that wish is so stupid, i could do better" as if they likely wouldn't wish similar things if they were the same age in the same situation! this isn't even counting the fact that the girls don't know magical girls = somewhat immortal (to a degree) or that the wish costs their soul. so you can't say "mami wishing to live is stupid, she'd live anyways after contracting" because she couldn't have possibly known such a thing. the girls are never told explicitly what happens once they make their wish at all, unless they ask extremely direct questions (and then again, kyubey can always lie wrt things like saying that nobody's ever tried during a witch back into a magical girl to kyoko, because i refuse to believe through millions of years she's the first to think of such a thing). if you're about to die in a house fire, you won't think to question the person saving you, or hesitate in accepting their aid. you'd likely accept the help immediately due to panic and survival instincts. yet people expect these children in similar life or death situations to clearly and logically think through every possible aspect of their wish, as well as any ripple effects or wider impacts of it. that's...not at all how anything works. and it's weird to have some sense of superiority because you, someone in a comfortable situation, who's not a child, who has all the time in the world to consider a wish, who knows the truth about magical girls can make a "better" wish than some middle school age girl who just went through a major trauma and who isn't thinking clearly with zero knowledge of what's to come.
